SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY #229

"And the Father himself who hath sent me hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him you believe not." (John 5:37-38)

GOD'S UNCEASING ACTION: About this St. Chrysostom writes thus: "If you observe the rising and the setting of the sun, the movement of the earth, the ponds, springs, rivers, rain, in fact the whole process of nature, whether as seen in plants or in our own bodies and those of beasts, or in any other thing which the hand of God touches, you will recognize the unceasing work of the Father."
