"I am Returning, the Process has Begun"

By "Anne," a Lay Apostle

The following presents the messages from Jesus to Anne regarding the value of suffering in His instructions to His Lay Apostles (Volume X: Jesus Speaks to His Apostles). The messages are both sublime and powerful, and we share them with you. Anne, a visionary from Ireland, has received permission from her local ordinary, Bishop Leo O'Reilly, for the distribution of messages which she receives from Jesus, God the Father, Our Blessed Mother, the angels and saints.

Jesus

My dear little apostles must heed My words in all calm. I am sending you the clearest instructions so that you have a clear vision of your mission. We are pulling souls back into the safety of the Christian family. We do so with love. My dear ones, I love you. I call you into service in all love and through your service to Me you will gain the greatest of graces for the intentions you hold dear. Do not fear that you will lose by your service to the Kingdom. There is only gain possible for you. Give Me each of your concerns and begin. Walk each day in the knowledge that you are fulfilling God's holy will for you and fulfilling your role in the Kingdom. It is for this mission you were placed on earth at this time. Do not refuse Me. Say yes to Jesus. You will be filled with My Light. Step forward in faith and allow My divine understanding to come to you.

Jesus

My dear little apostles, I will always be with you. You walk in the world and My graces flow out from you. Because I confirm you in the Light, you spread heavenly light wherever you go. During this time you will begin to see this more clearly. This is a result of the vast amount of grace that is flowing through each one of you into your world. There will be those who will say that Christ's followers have always done this for the world. This is true, of course. But do not believe that these times are like other times. These times are different for many reasons. I am returning. The process has begun. Let none of My followers deny that I am working with a profound urgency. Despite the need for this urgency, I am also spreading a profound sense of calm and peace. All is well, little apostles. You have chosen wisely and you will serve heaven in all peace and trust.

SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 328

And they came to Capernaum: and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were ye reasoning in the way?" But they held their peace: for they had disputed one with another in the way, who was the greatest. And he sat down, and called the twelve; and he saith unto them, "If any man would be first, he shall be last of all, and minister of all." (Mark 9:33-35)

HUMILITY is a beautiful and necessary virtue. He who wishes to be a follower of Jesus must renounce pride and be humble of heart. The more humble a man is, the more worthy is he in the sight of God. Mary, Joseph, Peter, and all those to whom such high offices were given, were especially distinguished for their deep humility.

[12th Century, Public domain]

The Church honors Our Lady on Saturdays in Ordinary Time, and when there is no Obligatory Saints Memorial, there are special Mass Propers that can be used. Today was one of those days and the Gospel reading was the story where Our Lord told the Parable about the 5, 2, and 1 talents the master gave his servants.

St. Louis de Montfort (1716+) wrote about this in regard to Our Lady in his book, God Alone.
And so he points out:

[My comments are bracketed in red]

1. Mary alone found grace with God for herself and for every individual person. No patriarch nor prophet nor any other holy person of the Old Law could manage to find this grace.
[Mary was "full of grace" as the angel said to her at the Annunciation! And she stayed that way because she never sinned. No other human being could say that!]

2. It was Mary who gave existence and life to the Author of all grace, and because of this she is called the "Mother of Grace."
[Through Mary's Fiat, the Holy Spirit caused 3 drops of her Immaculate blood to leave her pure Heart and travel to her womb where the Body of Jesus was formed.]

3. God the Father, from whom, as from its essential source, every perfect gift and every grace come down to us, gave her every grace when He gave her His Son. Thus, as Saint Bernard says, "the will of God is manifested to her in Jesus and with Jesus.
[Because Mary consented to bear the Son of the Father, she was awarded this special grace of being "called Blessed for all generations as the Mother of God.]

4. God chose her to be the treasurer, the administrator, and the dispenser of all His graces, so that all His graces and gifts pass through her hands. Such is the power that she has received from Him that, according to Saint Bernardine, "she gives the graces of the Eternal Father, the virtues of Jesus Christ, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit to whom she wills, as and when she wills, and as much as she wills."
[This is why we should consecrate ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, wear her Brown Scapular, and pray the Rosary daily. Then Mother Mary will know us as her child, shape us into an image of Jesus, her Divine Son, and be recognized by the Eternal Father as members of His Kingdom!]

Blessings to all+
Deacon John

SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 327

And there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. But when Jesus saw the reasoning of their heart, he took a little child, and set him by his side, and said unto them, "Whosoever shall receive this little child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same is great." (Luke 9:46-48)

OUR LORD'S OMNISCIENCE: He knew why His disciples were disputing, and what vain thoughts they were fostering in their hearts.

Ivan’s August 29, 2008 Prayer Group Apparition

Ivan at the Blue Cross August 29, 2008 © COB

Ivan can be seen, along with members of his prayer group, leading the thousands of pilgrims present in prayer, praying the Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary in preparation for Our Lady’s apparition.

A small group of pilgrims began gathering around 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Blue Cross. As day turned into night, the sky was filled with thousands of bright stars. A steady stream of pilgrims continued to gather in every available space near and around the Blue Cross until there were thousands to pilgrims present, praying in preparation for Our Lady’s apparition to Ivan. It was a beautiful night filled with song and prayer, as each heart anticipated the moment that the Queen of Heaven would be before them.

There was about an hour of singing before the Rosaries began, starting around 8:15 p.m. At 9:15 p.m., Ivan announced that we would begin to pray the Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary. A few minutes before 10:00 p.m., all grew silent as Ivan announced that it was time for the apparition. Our Lady appeared for almost 8 minutes tonight. The following is Ivan’s description of the apparition with Our Lady:

Pilgrims at the Blue Cross August 29, 2008 © COB

Pilgrims, moments after the apparition of Our Lady to Ivan.

“ Tonight when Our Lady came She was very, very happy. She greeted us by saying “Praised be Jesus my dear little children.” Our Lady then prayed for a long time for the conversion of sinners (perhaps because just hours before, the statue of Our Lady on Apparition Hill was desecrated, breaking Our Lady’s marble image’s arm and nose). Our Lady then prayed for a long time with Her hands extended overall of us present. She prayed especially for all sick people present tonight. After, Our Lady continued to pray with Her hands extended over all of us. She then blessed us all with Her Motherly Blessing. She blessed all the religious articles, rosaries, everything we brought for Her blessing. Ivan recommended all of our needs, our families and especially all of the sick. Ivan then spoke with Our Lady privately for a short time. After we prayed with Our Lady an Our Father and a Glory Be and then Our Lady left saying, “Go in peace my dear little children.” This is what is most important this evening with the apparition with Our Lady.”

The statue on Apparition Hill was vandalized some time last night. The Community of Caritas members were told earlier through Marija, that the left arm and nose were broken. It has been reported to the police and is under investigation at this time.

The Great Deception — Part III

First published January 18th, 2008…

IT is important to understand that the words I speak here are merely echoes of one of the central warnings Heaven has been sounding through the Holy Fathers this past century: the light of truth is being extinguished in the world. That Truth is Jesus Christ, the light of the world. And humanity cannot survive without Him.

POPE BENEDICT AND THE SMOLDERING CANDLE

Perhaps no pontiff has warned the faithful of The Great Deception more than Pope Benedict XVI.

In The Smoldering Candle, I spoke of how the light of Christ, while being extinguished in the world, is growing brighter and brighter in the little cohort that Mary is preparing. Pope Benedict spoke of this recently as well:

This faith in the Creator Logos, in the Word that created the world, in the one who came like a Child, this faith and its great hope seem to be far from our daily public and private reality… The world is becoming more chaotic and violent: We witness this every day. And the light of God, the light of Truth, is being put out. Life is becoming dark and without a compass.Advent message, Zenit Dec 19th, 2007

That light, he says, is to shine in us, to be incarnated in our daily lives and witness.

It is therefore very important that we are true believers, and as believers, that we reaffirm forcefully, with our lives, the mystery of salvation that comes with the celebration of Christ’s birth… In Bethlehem, the Light which illumines our life was made manifest to the world. —Ibid.

That is to say, we are the compass that is to point to Jesus.

BENEDICT AND THE GREAT DECEPTION

Just yesterday, the Holy Father reiterated the dangers of The Great Deception from a philosophical perspective. In his speech to Rome’s Sapienza Universty—a speech he could not deliver in person because of intolerance for his presence (this is significant, given the context of what you’re about to read)—the Holy Father blows the trumpet of a coming totalitarianism if the world does not recognize and embrace the Truth.

…the danger of falling into inhumanity can never be completely eliminated… the danger facing the Western world… is that man today, precisely because of the immensity of his knowledge and power, surrenders before the question of truth… This means that, in the end, reason gives way before the pressure of other interests and the lure of efficiency, and is forced to recognize this as the ultimate criterion. Lecture of POPE BENEDICT XVI; read at Vatican City by Cardinal Bertone; Zenit, Jan 17th, 2008

Pope Benedict uses the striking word "inhumanity." Is this not the warning of this website? That a great spiritual vacuum is being created which either good or evil can fill? The warning that the spirit of Antichrist is active in our world is not intended to scare, but to keep us from being ensnared! Hence, as a Cardinal, the Holy Father spoke candidly about this possibility in our times.

The Apocalypse speaks about God’s antagonist, the beast. This animal does not have a name, but a number.

In [the horror of the concentration camps], they cancel faces and history, transforming man into a number, reducing him to a cog in an enormous machine. Man is no more than a function.

In our days, we should not forget that they prefigured the destiny of a world that runs the risk of adopting the same structure of the concentration camps, if the universal law of the machine is accepted. The machines that have been constructed impose the same law. According to this logic, man must be interpreted by a computer and this is only possible if translated into numbers.

The beast is a number and transforms into numbers. God, however, has a name and calls by name. He is a person and looks for the person. —POPE BENEDICT XVI (Cardinal Ratzinger), Palermo, March 15th, 2000

When all this is considered there is good reason to fear… that there may be already in the world the “Son of Perdition” of whom the Apostle speaks. —POPE ST. PIUS X, Encylical, E Supremi, n.5

DO NOT BE AFRAID

I often worry that you, the little flock which Jesus asks me to feed through these writings, may become frightened by writings such as today’s. But remember this well: Noah and his family were safe in the Ark. They were safe! I will say it again and again and again that Jesus has sent us His Mother as the new Ark. If you put your faith in Him, and hold onto His mother’s hand—your mother’s hand—you will be safe before, during, and after the Great Storm of our time.

But this is not all about you or me! We have a mission, and it is this: to bring as many souls into the Kingdom as we can through our witness, prayers, and intercession. Why are you afraid? You were born precisely for this time. Doesn’t God know what He is doing? You are chosen for this task, and our Blessed Mother wishes you to take it seriously, but with a childlike heart. Regardless of how small or insignificant you may feel, you are appointed by Heaven to participate in The Final Confrontation, the Great Battle of our times, to whatever degree God’s will has ordained.

This is not the time for fear, but for clear thinking, prayer, living carefully and soberly, and especially joyfully. For the light of Christ must live, burn, and shine through you!

Praise be to God, praise be to God! What joy it is to know Jesus! What a privilege it is to serve Him.

Be not afraid! Be not afraid! Open your heart wide, and every grace and power and authority will be given you for your role in the great task which lies before you and the whole Church.

Though I walk in the midst of dangers, you guard my life when my enemies rage. You stretch out your hand; your right hand saves me. The LORD is with me to the end. (Psalm 138:7-8)

SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 326

And they brought unto him little children, that he should touch them: and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, "Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein." And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.
(Mark 10:13-16)

CHRISTIAN TEACHERS: Our Lord's behavior to children imposes on those who teach them the imperative duty of always loving the children committed to their charge in an especial manner, as the favorites of our Lord; of trying to be a real blessing to these little ones by word and example; and of never being turned from this duty, either by the weariness of the burden, or the ingratitude with which parents may repay their services. To lead children to Jesus is the highest ideal of Christian education.

—Spiritual Food For Thought—

Mark Mallett continues his writings:

The Great Deception — Part II

First published January 15th, 2008…

WHILE this generation is being spiritually deceived, so too has it been materially and physically duped.

WISDOM OF THE AGES

I was sitting at a table in a senior’s home recently, enjoying the conversation of a couple of elderly men. They were talking about how they stored food throughout the winter on the farm when they were children. As I listened to their stories, it dawned on me… the last couple of generations have no clue how to survive any longer on their own!

We have lost the wisdom of the ages, learned and passed on from generation to generation over millennia. Those skills of how to build, hunt, plant, grow, reap… yes, survive—without the help of technologyare nearly all but gone for most of Generation X and the succeeding generations in the Western world.

OVER-DEPENDENT

Don’t get me wrong—I’m not against progress. But there is something ominous about the current situation. In the Western world, we live on the grid. That is, we depend entirely upon the state or corporations to provide us electricity and heat (or power for air conditioning.) Furthermore, we depend upon "the system" for our food and most of our material things. Few of us actually provide for ourselves from our own resources, something most generations did to some degree up until this past generation.

What would happen if suddenly the power went out for good, due to war, natural disaster, or other means? Our appliances would cease to work, and therefore, our methods of cooking. Our means of keeping warm through electric or natural gas heating would cease (which could mean life or death for those in northern countries). Even heating our large homes with a fireplace would be difficult, except for the room the fireplace is in. Our factories would cease to produce goods we depend upon, for example, things as simple as toilet paper. Grocery shelves would be emptied within a week as people would rush stores to horde what they can. And never mind material goods; stores like North America’s "WalMart" would become virtually empty since most everything is "Made in China," and shipping and transportation lines would be down as most fuel supply stations depend upon electricity to pump fuel. Our own personal transportation would be severely limited as well. And machines to make medications that many people depend upon would cease. How long would water continue to reach our towns and cities?

The list goes. It is not hard to see that society would quickly go into meltdown. Hurricane Katrina opened the eyes of many… a microcosm of what happens when infrastructures collapse.

Some time ago, I saw in my heart many regions controlled—not by police and governments—but by gangs. It would be the fruit of anarchy, every man to his own… until "someone" comes to the rescue.

Satan may adopt the more alarming weapons of deceit—he may hide himself—he may attempt to seduce us in little things, and so to move the Church, not all at once, but by little and little from her true position… When we have cast ourselves upon the world and depend for protection upon it, and have given up our independence and our strength, then [Antichrist] may burst upon us in fury as far as God allows him. —Venerable John Henry Newman, Sermon IV: The Persecution of Antichrist

THE GREAT DECEPTION… THE BEGINNING

Recently in Venezuela, a country wracked by criminal violence, President Hugo Chavez attempted to introduce sweeping constitutional changes which would have given him dictatorial power, moving the country toward a socialist state. He allowed the country to vote on the reforms by way of a referendum.

It was easily defeated, right? The people clearly saw the dangers of these reforms, correct? Wrong. The reforms were narrowly defeated 51 to 49 percent. It is startling to see in our day and age of "democracy" that so many people were willing to move toward a totalitarian state. In one news report, a pro-Chavez supporter walked through the streets, saying to the reporter in between sobs:

It’s difficult to accept this, but Chavez has not abandoned us, he’ll still be there for us.Associated Press, Dec 3, 2007; www.msnbc.msn.com

People are willing to be saved at all costs, it seems, even the cost of their freedom, so long as they feel safe.

Is this generation being duped into accepting a "savior", even one who will extract its freedoms, for the sake of food and security, particularly in the event of a societal breakdown? When the economy collapses and even the infrastructure due to the events which are coming, where will those souls turn whose greatest skills are how to play computer games, download music, and text message with one hand on a cellphone?

Can we not understand now why Our Blessed Mother is crying? But I also believe that many souls can still be rescued from The Great Deception.

Heaven has a plan. We must ask our Father to give us wisdom and discernment of his will for our lives, for…

…My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. (Hos 4:6)

(Mark 10:13-16)

"SUFFER LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME": This command was given for all times. Parents, and those who represent them, ought to bring their children to Jesus; they ought to take care that they are, first of all, admitted into the Church by holy Baptism; that they learn to know and love Him by means of a Christian education; and that, as soon as they are capable of receiving it, they are united to Him by Holy Communion, and strengthened in virtue by the imposition of hands and anointing of Confirmation.

COMMENTARY: Satan, while hidden, remains active in us and in society by Bishop Robert Vasa

INTERVIEW: What is Evil?

REFLECTION: Fort Faith: Wage war against the devil's plans for you

The kids are back in school, and mountains of peer pressure have begun to pile up on them. Meanwhile, parents and grandparents are left trying to figure out how to help those young souls they love so much make it through those tough years of adolescence.

Read Nehemiah 4:13-23. There are three things you should know about spiritual warfare that you can find in this passage. Here they are:

1. Do not be afraid.

2. Remember the Lord.

3. Fight.

In about 600 B.C., Nehemiah, the cupbearer to King Artaxerxes in the palace of Susa (in modern day Iran), had prayed to God and then received permission from the king to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. But the evil and jealous Sanballat the Samaritan was intent on preventing this from happening. The wall had been destroyed when the Jews were booted out of their city by the Babylonians.

Nehemiah used half of his workforce to build the wall, while the other half stood guard, paying special attention to the lowest points of the wall and where there were families. This was done to make sure that Sanballat, along with several other bullies and their forces were not successful in stopping the rebuilding of the wall, which surrounded the very centerpiece of Jewish civilization.

Nehemiah said to the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes." Later he said, "20. Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!"

You know, it's easy to forget that even here in little Fort Gibson, we have a heavenly guest who wants to be part of our lives everyday. He's the same God who was with Nehemiah 2,600 years ago, and who helped him rebuild the Jerusalem wall in only 52 days (6:15).

When we are walking with the Lord, we have every reason to be confident, not fearful. When we are constant in prayer, we can't help but to constantly remember the Lord. And when we are fighting on the Lord's side, we will find that the Lord is faithful to us, and will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear.

The apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6 that when we use our Christian armor the way it was intended, we will be able to do three things: fearlessly make known the Gospel, we will pray in the Spirit continually, and we will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. That's the same basic message that Nehemiah taught 600 years earlier.

In 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, the apostles Paul says, "(2Co 10:3)  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. (2Co 10:4)  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty to God, unto the pulling down of fortifications, destroying counsels, (2Co 10:5)  And every height that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God: and bringing into captivity every understanding unto the obedience of Christ.

May God give each of us the perseverance to make sure we are in that number when the trumpet sounds and the Lord gathers us home.

Ladder of Divine Ascent excerpt: Step 7- "On Joy-Making Mourning"

28. Those who have obtained mourning in the depth of their being hate their own life as something painful and wearisome, and a cause of tears and sufferings; and they turn and flee from their body as from an enemy.

The Great Deception

Hansel and Gretel.jpg
Hansel & Gretel by Kay Nielsen

First published January 15th, 2008. Very important to read again…

WE are being duped.

Many Christians believe that Satan has triumphed as society continues in a free-fall toward materialism, lust, and lawlessness. But if we think this is Satan’s ultimate goal, we have been deceived.

SPIRITUAL DECEPTION

One of Pope John Paul II’s most memorable quotes came from his predecessor, who said,

The sin of the century is the loss of the sense of sin. —POPE PIUS XII, Radio Address to the United States Catechetical Congress held in Boston; 26 Oct., 1946: AAS Discorsi e Radiomessaggi, VIII (1946), 288

It is this loss of the sense of sin which has led many souls astray in our times, like Hansel and Gretel of that classic fairytale. Lost in the forest, the two children stumble upon a house made of candy and gingerbread. A witch, posing as a little old woman, lures them in with the promise of having whatever they want. But the witch’s intentions are to destroy them.

So too, the devil has been luring this culture into the Candy Store of sin. Although the enemy’s plan is always to cause us to sin, especially to fall into mortal sin which cuts the soul off from sanctifying grace, this is not his masterplan. Jesus has already revealed the "big" plan:

When you see the desolating abomination standing where he should not (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains… (Mark 13:14)

Satan’s masterplan is to replace God’s social order with a diabolical order. It is to reduce man, who is made in the image of God and freed by the Cross of Christ, to slavery. It is to turn the power of creation and life into an abomination. It is ultimately, to be worshiped by humankind.

[The False Prophet] wielded all the authority of the first beast in its sight and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast [Antichrist]. (Rev 13:12)

How is this plan being achieved? By luring the world over many centuries away from the worship of God to the worship of human reason, devoid of faith. The Candy Store is really that place where man can have whatever he wants, when he wants, and how he wants it because he has reasoned that he can, and really, there is no God—save man himself—who can tell him that he cannot.

But what happens when you have too much candy? Don’t you crave something wholesome? A vegetable, a salad, a slice of beef… anything but another candy?

THE GREAT DECEPTION

Herein lies the Great Deception: Satan knows that we are made in God’s image, and thus, we are made for, and desire at our core, the wholesome things—that which is spirit and life. Even though this generation is not yet fully aware that it is becoming sick on the junk food of sin, this awareness will eventually come; a day when this generation will crave simplicity, quiet, love, and spiritual things.

And that’s when Satan will make his move—to fulfill the longings of the human heart, but with a false solution, and ultimately, a false god.

I say this to you now that you will be aware of what’s happening when it begins to happen. Because the solutions which Satan will present through his pawns will seemingly answer even your longings! This is why it is so crucial that you are watching and praying now with the help and grace of Our Lady, the Ark of Refuge. Only in this union with Christ through prayer, the Sacraments, Our Lady, and especially a humble and listening heart, will you be able to recognize The Great Deception.

APPROACH THE THRONE OF MERCY

If you want to hear the Lord’s guidance in these days, spend time regularly before the Blessed Sacrament. I have observed in my own life and in the lives of many other Christians, especially lately, that God is pouring out instruction and great graces to those who come before Him in the Holy Eucharist.

Behold, for you I have established a throne of mercy on earth—the tabernacle—and from this throne I desire to enter into your heart. I am not surrounded by a retinue of guards. You can come to me at any moment, at any time; I want to speak to you and desire to grant you grace. Diary of St. Faustina, n. 1485

But Jesus said, "Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence. (Matt. 19:13-15)

THE LOVE OF JESUS FOR CHILDREN: How touching is the tender affection shown by our Blessed Lord for little children, the young ones of His flock. What an encouragement, too, for those who seek to guard them from the dangers of the world, and who train their minds in the ways of God! He pressed these little ones to His Heart, and, laying His sacred Hands on them, blessed them. Now, what was His object in blessing them? The mothers begged His blessing for their children, in the hope that it might preserve them from sickness, or early death. But our Lord's object was far higher. He imparted His divine blessing to these little ones, in order that they might remain humble, innocent and pious, and become worthy members of His kingdom. It was because they are simple, humble, believing and innocent that our Lord loved children so much.

Our Lady's Message of August 25, 2008

“Dear children! Also today, I call you to personal conversion. You be those who will convert and, with your life, will witness, love, forgive and bring the joy of the Risen One into this world, where my Son died and where people do not feel a need to seek Him and to discover Him in their lives. You adore Him, and may your hope be hope to those hearts who do not have Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

Many crosses line our roads where highway deaths occurred. This sacred ground is revered by loved ones. Out of the billions and billions of planets and stars that fill the universe, one and one only is the place Jesus died. Our Lady loves this roadside place among all the universe because Her Son’s cross was planted upon it. She wants you to convert further, Adore Him, be hope for those who pass a cross on the side of the road and upon seeing this sign do not contemplate, discovering in their lives the Risen One who would bring their conversion. Your life is their roadside sign.

Please pray throughout your day for the retooling of The Tabernacle of Our Lady’s Messages that people will continue to be moved to bring about it’s success.

SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 322

"But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves. Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor. Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that hath sanctified the gold? And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, he is a debtor. Ye blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? He therefore that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And he that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. And he that sweareth by the heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, judgment, and mercy, and faith: but these ye ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full from extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the outside thereof may become clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but inwardly ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and garnish the tombs of the righteous, and say, 'If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' Wherefore ye witness to yourselves, that ye are sons of them that slew the prophets. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell? Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them shall ye kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, 'Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.' " (Matt. 23:13-39)

HYPOCRISY: Above all, the Pharisees were hypocrites, because they set themselves up for being outwardly just and God-fearing men, whereas their hearts were full of evil and injustice, and without any true fear of God. Hypocrisy or dissimulation is a lie, and is, therefore, a sin against the eight Commandment.

FROM MEJ.COM:

“Kneeling and praying before a Crucifix
relieves us, brings us joy, and makes us whole.”

The Crucifix by St. James Church

A Cross by St. James Church in Medjugorje

The Bible tells us to rejoice in and take joy in the measure of Christ’s suffering we share (1 Peter 4:13). Kneeling and praying before a Crucifix relieves us, brings us joy, and makes us whole. Our Lady surprisingly has asked for the “Joyful” Mysteries to be said before the Crucifix many times.

February 27, 1989

“…Tonight when you go home, pray the Joyful Mysteries in front of the Crucifix.”

March 8, 1989

“…Tonight when you come home, pray the Joyful Mysteries in front of the Crucifix.”

Praying in front of the Crucifix not only brings joy but also teaches us to love. The Crucifix symbolizes the essence of love – Jesus, giving Himself so completely for others. This is a source of untold conversions. The love symbolized on the Crucifix teaches us to give ourselves to others so completely that through God’s graces, we ourselves become a source of conversions. The visionary, Marija, carries a heavy cross and yet she has said that Our Lady has given her the gift of love. Those close to Marija constantly see her give herself to others without reserve, even when she is exhausted. Marija keeps smiling and giving.

We learn how to give while before the Crucifix. To give the highest degree of oneself as Jesus did, even when exhausted, will convert your spouses, your children, your friends, and the world. You become a server rather than a receiver. You become love.

The love of the world teaches us to serve ourselves, to attend to our needs first or at least as equally as we tend to others’ needs. This selfish love is not the love Our Lady wishes us to receive. Our Lady and Jesus want us to receive Divine Love to be able to give of ourselves without limit and carry our crosses. We can understand what this means before the Crucifix and we will be able to receive Divine Love in the proportion to which we understand it. Our Lady says:

February 22, 1986

“…You will be able to receive Divine Love only in proportion to when you understand that, on the cross, God offers you His immense love.”

THAT WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT: Whenever our Lord pronounced a "woe" on anyone, He signified that such an one was worthy of the everlasting punishment of hell, and therefore He wound up His denunciation of the Pharisees (of which only a portion is given above) by these words: "You serpents! How will you flee from the judgment of hell?" (Matt. 23:33.) But why did our Lord threaten the Pharisees with everlasting punishment? Because they transgressed all the most important precepts of the law without shame and without conscience, and were, all the same, most scrupulous in their minute observance of the less important commandments. Our Lord enumerates the duties of justice, mercy and faith as those which are of most importance, and the Pharisees sinned most glaringly against these by their oppression of widows and orphans, by their unjust extortions, and by their refusal to believe anything that they did not wish to believe.

SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY # 320

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received the half–shekel came to Peter, and said, "Doth not your master pay the half–shekel?" He saith, "Yea." And when he came into the house, Jesus spake first to him, saying, "What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive toll or tribute? from their sons, or from strangers?" And when he said, "From strangers," Jesus said unto him, "Therefore the sons are free. But, lest we cause them to stumble, go thou to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee." (Matt. 17:24-27)

AVOIDING OF SCANDAL: Our Lord's example shows us that we must avoid even the appearance of giving a bad example. He would have been quite justified in refusing to pay the Temple tax, but He did not refuse lest He should scandalize the weak and ignorant.

THE DIVINITY OF CHRIST: Our Lord claims to be the Son of Him to whom the Temple belongs, that is, God the Father. As the kings of the earth do not exact tribute from their own children, so neither does God from His own Son.

A MOMENT WITH MARY: Devotions to Mary Associated with Apparitions

There are three main Marian devotions closely associated with apparitions of the Blessed Virgin. An especially great Marian devotion is the Rosary whose origin predates Saint Dominic (d. 1221), but is the subject of many of the messages of the Virgin in various other apparitions, such as Lourdes and Fatima where Our Lady called for an increase in the prayer of the Rosary, declaring it one of the conditions needed for world peace and the conversion of Russia.

Another recommended devotion is wearing the Brown Scapular. There are many kinds of scapulars, all valuable, but this one is eminent among them. There is a very ancient tradition that a great Carmelite monk, Saint Simon Stock, Superior of the Carmelite Order in England in 1251, after imploring the help of Our Lady, was favored with a vision in which she gave him the Brown Scapular, saying: "This will be a privilege for you and for all Carmelites, that he who dies in this will not suffer eternal fire."

The third important Marian devotion is the Miraculous Medal which originated with the apparitions at the Rue du Bac in Paris in 1830. The Blessed Virgin appeared three times in the chapel of the motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, to Saint Catherine Laboure, then a novice. Our Lady asked St Catherine to have a medal struck after a certain model and she promised abundant graces to all those who would wear the medal with confidence. The medal bears these words:

"O Mary Conceived Without Sin, Pray for Us Who Have Recourse to Thee."

Ladder of Divine Ascent excerpt: Step 7- "On Joy-Making Mourning"

25. Both in creation and in compunction, there is that which moves itself and that which is moved by something else. When the soul becomes tearful, moist and tender without effort or trouble, then let us run, for the Lord has come uninvited, and is giving us the sponge of God-loving sorrow and the cool water of devout tears to wipe out the record of our sins. Guard these tears as the apple of your eye until they withdraw. Great is the power of this compunction, greater than that which comes as a result of our own effort and reflection.

[MaryVitamin] Our Lady of Knock

Mary Vitamin for August 20th

Topic: Our Lady of Knock
Feast Day August 21

Quote:
"The apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Knock, Ireland, was one not of words, but of silence. Here, the Mother of Christ appeared in prayerful contemplation with St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist."
Kevin J. Wright, Catholic Shrines of Western Europe, (Ligouri: 1997), 120.

Meditation:
St. Joseph Marello's bishop, Bishop Savio, gave the Saint this advice:
"Silence is neither muteness nor interior emptiness nor the incapacity for communication. It is a spiritual experience, which is realized through success in holding worldly hubbub at a distance and making room for God's Word. Silence can be made anywhere. It consists in listening, more than in being quiet. It is through this eager attentiveness to hear that the soul perceives voices and messages from the Infinite, and pastures and drinks from them so as to climb mystically on high to the first fount, as well as to come down to earthly realities and stimulate action…"
Giovanni Sisto,  I the Undersigned Poor Sinner,… The Life of [Saint] Joseph Marello, (Guardian of the Redeemer Books: 1985), 64.

Resolution:
In honor of Our Lady of Knock I will try to practice silence today. With every petition I make in prayer to God, I will also pause to listen to God. In conversations today, I will concentrate on becoming the person who listens.
I will practice having "silence anywhere" by making room for God's Word in my heart by reading today's Gospel and keeping the key words of Christ in my heart during the noisy day.

Marian Vow:
"[T]he penances of fasting and abstinence, of silence and obscurity, of prayer vigils and the renunciation of vanities and entertainments, trips, worldly spectacles, superfluous vacations - after the example of the Immaculate - cannot be missing in him or her who with the Marian Vow ought to realize in oneself 'the being' of the Immaculate that is all grace and the 'work' of the Mediatrix that is all salvation for others."
Marian Seraphic Pathways, Directory #25

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
