[MaryVitamin] Communion reflections

Mary Vitamin for February 13th

Topic: Holy Communion Reflections by St. Claude de La Colombiere
Feast of St. Claude February 15
Quote:
Why was Mary so pure?
In the words of St. Claude de La Colombiere, "because she was to bear the Son of God in her womb."

Meditation:
"If she had not been purer than the angels, it would not have been seemly for the Word to dwell in her; he would not have taken such delight in her, nor would he have brought her the precious gifts with which he filled her at the moment of the Incarnation. In Holy Communion we receive the same Jesus Christ that Mary bore for nine months in her womb. What is our purity? What care do we take to prepare our soul?"
Translated and arranged by Mother M. Philip, I.B.V.M.
The Spiritual Direction of Saint Claude de la Colombiere,  (Ignatius Press), 7.

Resolution:
"O my God, I will try so to prepare my heart that you may take pleasure and delight in it, and so that I may not place any obstacle to the immense graces I shall receive if I purify myself and realize what great good I shall lose if I do not do so."

Marian Vow:
"Great is this responsibility of the Franciscan with the Marian vow. The immaculate quality of his life must be radical and total."
Father Stefano Manelli, The Marian Vow of Unlimited Consecration to the Immaculate, 21.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
