SCRIPTURE COMMENTARY #507

"If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do"
"You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

"And in that day you shall not ask me any thing. Amen, amen, I say to you: if you ask the Father any thing in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto, you have not asked any thing in my name. Ask, and you shall receive; that your joy may be full." (John 14:14; 15:16; 16:23-24)

PRAYER IN THE NAME OF JESUS: Our Lord solemnly asseverates ("Amen, amen, I say unto you") that we shall be heard if we pray in His name. We pray in the name of Jesus when we pray with full confidence in His merits, and in the mind and spirit of Jesus. This promise of our Lord ought to impel us to pray to Almighty God with great confidence.

Please no anonymous comments. I require at least some way for people to address each other personally and courteously. Having some name or handle helps.
