Pope Benedict XVI Homily in Cyprus:

In Cyprus Too, the Pope Bears His Cross. With Joy

We all deserve it because of our sins, he explains. But thanks to Jesus, the innocent lamb, it has become the hope of the world, the definitive victory over all evil. The homily of the evening of Saturday, June 5, in Nicosia

by Benedict XVI

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life (cf. Jn 3:14-15). In this Mass we adore and praise our Lord Jesus Christ, because by his Holy Cross he has redeemed the world. Through his death and resurrection he has thrown open the gates of heaven and he has prepared a place for us, so that we, his followers, may be granted a share in his glory.
