Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Also today, I call you to prayer. Little children, prayer works miracles. When you are tired and sick and you do not know the meaning of your life, take the Rosary and pray; pray until prayer becomes for you a joyful meeting with your Savior. I am with you, little children, and I intercede and pray for you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Yesterday we got a big package in the mail.
It came from our dear friend, Ben.  He was returning something special to us that we had loaned him for a time.  It is a large Crucifix that Denis received in 1986 from Fr. Slavko Barbaric.  This Crucifix had hung in Fr. Slavko's room for many years, and during several of those years, Our Lady had appeared to the visionaries of Medjugorje right in front of that Crucifix.  Denis had asked Fr. Slavko to trade crucifixes with him.  This special Crucifix had been so near to Our Lady, and she and the visionaries had prayed before it!  Denis wanted to bring it home for the students at his high school.  He knew it would connect them with Our Lady.

We both felt great joy at receiving the Crucifix again!  Having it here has reminded us of many miracles that have happened in connection with it.  Here is one of Denis' stories:

"I was aware that the closest thing to Mary's heart was teenagers.  Even if it was a cause of self-consciousness for me, in conscience I had to do this - bring the Crucifix from the apparition room to class - because if Our Lady had anything to do with my being given that Crucifix she had appeared in front of so many times (and she herself had prayed in front of each day), I knew it was because I spent my day with teenagers.  They are her heart.  It was really for them.

"Four days after first placing that Crucifix upon my desk, I walked into the period 5 & 6 Justice and Peace class.  Just as the bell rang to begin the period, a student named Mike raised his hand in the back of the room.  'I need a miracle!' he said.  'Last Friday, I broke my hand in football practice.  At the emergency room, the doctor had to push the two bones that were sticking in opposite directions back together.  He put my hand in a cast and told me that in one week he'd operate.  He told me that, after putting a pin in my hand, I'd have to wear another cast for a long time.  Today, I go for that operation.  Let's pray that I'm healed!'

"I perceived that he was serious.  (I try never to judge the motives of my students.)  Even though I was very self-conscious, I took the Crucifix off my desk and brought it back and placed it on his desk.  I asked the class to pray one 'Hail Mary' with me, invoking Our Blessed Mother.  I reminded them that Mary had promised that, each time we prayed in response to her call from Medjugorje, she'd come and pray with us.  We said the 'Hail Mary.

"That was Friday.  On Monday, Mike told the class that, when the doctor took off the cast after school on Friday, he examined the hand, took X-rays, and expressed his wonder.    'You don't need an operation.  You don't need a pin.  You don't need a cast.  Your hand is fine. You can go to football practice!'  So he went straight to football practice.  His hand was healed!"

Praise God!  Let's pray in response to Our Lady's call from Medjugorje! Let's pray and pray, and bring down the power of God upon this hurting world.  We need miracles!  We need God!

In Jesus and Mary!
