Medjugorje Headlines

Will You Miss Out on the Second Greatest Moment in Time?

The apparition to the Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Soldo today took place at the Blue Cross on Apparition Mountain. Thousands of pilgrims were present from all over the world. Many spent a frigid night bundled up in blankets in the cold, awaiting Our Lady. Rosaries, litanies and singing began early, around 5:00 A.M. Mirjana arrived around 8:30 A.M., and Our Lady came shortly after. The apparition took place around 8:40 A.M. and lasted around 6 minutes. Following is Mirjana’s description of the apparition on September 2, 2010, given on the day for nonbelievers:

“Dear children, I am beside you because I desire to help you to overcome trials, which this time of purification puts before you. My children, one of those is not to forgive and not to ask for forgiveness. Every sin offends Love and distances you from it – and Love is my Son. Therefore, my children, if you desire to walk with me towards the peace of God’s love, you must learn to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. Thank you.”

Will You Miss Out on the Second Greatest Moment in Time?

You are going to like the writing that follows. The parallels drawn by A Friend of Medjugorje between an unusual study performed by the Washington Post in Washington, D.C. in 2007 and the apparitions of Our Lady in Medjugorje are striking, and the questions asked are haunting as we are confronted with the predictability of human nature. A Friend of Medjugorje is in transit to Medjugorje today, scheduled to arrive around the time of Our Lady’s evening apparition time, September 2nd. In lieu of his usual writing for the second of the month, an article he wrote for the September, 2010 issue of Words of the Harvesters is presented here. Words of the Harvesters is a monthly publication distributed to Caritas’ Field Angels, those people who financially support the works of Caritas of Birmingham, making it possible for the mission to continually reach new hearts with Our Lady’s apparitions, to support those who are following Our Lady through the audio and printed materials Caritas produces, and to develop new inspirations that bring freshness to Our Lady’s messages.

You may be tired of us saying this. You may be too busy to pay attention to these words when said or written. But here it is again. Our Lady has been appearing for 29 years!! For what? To change the world. We are repeatedly saying this, but why hasn’t the world become thunderstruck at Our Lady’s presence in the world? Why has the world not come to a halt everyday at the time Our Lady appears upon the earth to bless every single heart across the world. Even if one does not know of the apparitions or knows but does not follow Our Lady, or is a non-believer, the blessing is still given, despite what one believes. But oh, for those who know that Our Lady is daily appearing and fail to recognize the importance, when this time of grace is over, what will you have missed? What anguish will the heart of man languish in knowing She is gone – to appear no more?
Many play instruments on streets, subways, etc., panhandling and playing for money. This was the case of a man who walked into a busy metro station on a cold morning in January. The man had laid his collection hat down and began to play his instrument. The following is what happened over the course of the next hour while the man and those going through the metro were under observation.
3 minutes after he began to play a violin:
A middle aged man slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, then hurried to meet his schedule.
4 minutes later:
A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk as he continued to play the violin.
6 minutes:
A young man paused, leaned against the wall, listened to him a few moments, then glanced at his watch and started to walk again.
10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent – without exception – forced their children to move on quickly.
45 minutes:
The man played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. His hat contained a total of $32.
He finished playing and silence took over. Hardly anyone noticed.
Three questions are raised by those who observed the approximately 45 minutes the man played his violin for pocket change.
1. In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
2. If so, do we stop to appreciate it?
3. Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
While he played, approximately 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. On this cold January morning in 2007, in Washington, DC, at a metro station, this man, with a violin, played six Bach pieces.
Two days before, this man had sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music. No one knew the violinist wasJoshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.
This true story of Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. metro station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and people’s priorities.

What was one of the conclusions the Post made after the experiment was completed?
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made, how many other things are we missing as we rush through life?
What are you going to do or did you do today at 11:40 a.m. CST, the moment Our Lady came to the earth? Did you know Marija said Our Lady’s voice cannot be described? She said there are no words in any language on earth to describe the sound of Her words and the beauty of their tones. When pressed harder to describe Our Lady’s voice in words, Marija finally said, exasperated, Her voice is “musical, not of this world.”

Our Lady appeared today. Did anyone stop and take notice? If so, for how long?
On the side of our Caritas Mission House in Medjugorje, it states in 10 languages:
Today, the Queen of Heaven will visit this village, appearing physically to the visionaries of Medjugorje. She always gives a blessing to the world, but particularly to those present in the village where special graces are available at the moment of the apparition each day.

TODAY’S APPARITION WILL OCCUR AT 6:40 P.M.

On June 25, 1988, Ivanka, one of the six Medjugorje visionaries, during her apparition, said to those present at the apparition, many of whom were standing up or sitting:
“Our Lady wishes for all present to kneel down.”
Ivanka never came out of ecstasy while she spoke to the crowd. After the apparition, she revealed that once everyone had knelt down, Our Lady had given them Her Blessing.
Even if the visionaries are not present in the village during the moment of apparition, the special time is still sacred for those present in the village. Our Lady said on March 18, 1996:
“…My eyes and my heart will be here, even when I will no longer appear… “
If that is the case after the apparitions end, it certainly is the case while She is still appearing. Even if the visionaries are not in Medjugorje, Our Lady will be. Medjugorje is the sacred, favored place chosen by Our Lady Herself.
Today, do not be shopping or eating, driving or socializing at the time of Our Lady’s apparition. Rather, be at the church, in the fields, on Apparition Mountain or Cross Mountain, and be on your knees, for Mary, the Queen of Peace, will bless you and in particular those hearts which are most disposed in prayer. Every day of your pilgrimage, be encouraged to go off and enter into deep prayer in anticipation of the great gift that comes each evening being in this Holy Village with the Mother of God who bestows special graces at this Holy Moment of Her visit from Heaven to the oasis of Medjugorje. Our Lady gave a message of advice to pilgrims in January, 1984:
“When you are in the room of the apparitions or at the church, you should not preoccupy yourselves with taking pictures. Rather, you should use the time to pray to Jesus, especially in those moments of particular graces during the apparitions.”
Find a special place each day of your pilgrimage and wait for the encounter with your Friend, Mother, and Queen ♥!

Again, concerning the great violinist, Joshua Bell:
At six minutes:
After he began to play, a young man paused, leaned against the wall, listened to him a few moments, then glanced at his watch and started to walk again.

The majority who have gone to Medjugorje, listen to Our Lady for awhile, but never clearly grasp what is going on. Many grow lax in attention, fall away, and many former pilgrims are unaware Our Lady is still appearing everyday. Our Lady said:
June 23, 1982
“…A number of those who have been very enthusiastic will cool off…”
Did you perceive what is to happen today, in Who came to the earth? The most beautiful creation in existence, cannot even be compared to scanning a billion galaxies, with a trillion, trillion stars across the perimeters of both sides of the universe, even bigger across the breadth of Heaven with all the angels, included as one, a sum total of beauty and awe that does not come close to the beauty of the Creature of the Creator, the Holy Virgin Mary. A horror to the earth, that most will never notice until it is too late. A daily visit speaking to us, the sweetest music composed by God, will pass silently on into glorious history, unnoticed by the world.
At ten minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent – without exception – forced their children to move on quickly. And what song was Joshua Bell playing when the 3-year-old passed by? Schubert’s Ave Maria.

A violinist, one of the world’s best musicians, playing the finest music in existence, is recognized more by little children than those wrapped up in the cares of the world. We can only begin to recognize the beauty of Our Lady when we become as little children. Otherwise, it is just another religious thing.
February 25, 1990
“…Little children, God is offering Himself to you in fullness, and you can discover and recognize Him only in prayer…”
45 minutes:
The man played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. His hat contained a total of $32.

The sound emulated from one of the most beautiful instruments ever made and six people stopped to listen. A mere twenty gave money and continued to walk their normal pace.
Concerning the Holy Virgin Mary appearing upon the earth: the most beautiful message ever received by man…direction from the most beautiful instrument of God. And yet, who is stopping, even for a moment, when She comes to the earth? It is Our Lady’s musical words “played” to us, monthly, through the Medjugorje visionary Marija, in which Our Lady told us the significance of this beauty never before happening:
April 4, 1985
“…I wish to keep on giving you messages as it has never been in history from the beginning of the world…”
Just as Joshua Bell’s significance was obscured by busyness, have you stopped long enough for the above words of Our Lady to sink in? Though many have read these words,“never been in history from the beginning of the world,” has it sunk in? It is not enough to throw change in the hat, hardly noticing the great violinist, paralleling a giving of prayers, a passing on, giving little notice of the above words of Our Lady. What do they mean to you? Words as it has never been in history? You are living in this moment. Do you truly believe, not just in the apparitions, but what She actually is saying? Is your life restrictively structured around the cares of the world, that Our Lady’s apparitions are not part of your daily routine environment? Or is your life always filled during Our Lady’s visit as an inappropriate hour to perceive their beauty? Your answer will help you answer in truth: Is God first in your life or not?
First question of the experiment: In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
At apparition time today, the Community of Caritas was on their knees with our children, outside. No matter what the weather conditions are or how busy we are at work, there we are, our hearts waiting for the savored moment. Beauty’s greatest definition and example, appears on earth. We perceive the beauty to the degree that we have amended our schedules, our very lives, to stop and listen to the music of that sweet moment of 11:40 a.m. when the Queen of Peace, the greatest, sweetest musical voice of Heaven, is with us upon the earth.
Second Question: If so, do we stop to appreciate it?
We, in the Community, pause in silence at the moment of apparition, appreciating that Our Lady is praying over all upon the earth, and especially those who have stopped to notice, recognize and listen to the sweet gift of love descending upon the earth.
April 2, 2008
“…today as I am with you in the great love of God I desire to ask you: ‘are you also with me?’… in your time, the great grace of God descended on earth. Do not hesitate to accept it…”
The Community of Caritas’ influence and witness is powerful, not because of anything we have done, but because we have listened to the music of Our Lady and are affected by it and, in turn, affect others with it. When you stop, perceive the beauty, accept the moment of Our Lady, incorporating it into your daily life, you will also grow in influence in the world, and the world will be influenced. This is Our Lady’s desire.
Third question: Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
The world does not recognize what is before it, as proven by the experiment with Joshua Bell. Neither does the world recognize Our Lady’s unexpected presence because no one expected it. Nor do many even want it.
It is dangerous to your future, to the future of the world, not to stop and perceive the beauty before us. To reject, ignore, be indifferent to or accept Our Lady’s presence with limitations of how far we will go or what time we give Her is an indication of our lack of recognition of this intercessory “talent” before God, that Our Lady has in the context of Her unexpected intervention into the world’s direction.
Even for those who, through the years, followed Our Lady, many fail to stop in their tracks and reorder their lives to allow themselves to be completely captivated and led by the most beautiful woman God has ever created. To be chosen by Our Lady and to disregard or not fulfill Her call, will be detrimental to your future with the dark factual reality of future life on earth. The reality will hit hard those hearts, of what was not recognized in the time of special grace. For it will be made known throughout the world, by God Himself, that creation’s best was not recognized by those who never stopped to reflect and listen to the sweetest words the world has ever heard of a mother. It is Our Lady Herself who speaks of the time of lamentation for many.
August 25, 1997
“…soon a time will come when you will lament for these messages…”
To repeat the conclusion made by the Washington Post:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made, how many other things are we missing as we rush through life?

Or better said, what are we missing in the unexpected context of what happened June 24, 1981 to the world?
If you do not have a moment to stop and listen to the best of creation, giving the finest words ever spoken, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever ‘tuned,’ then you will miss the second greatest moment in the existence of time.
1. Best of Creation – Our Lady
“Dear children; in my coming to you, here among you, the greatness of God is reflected…”August 2, 2008
2. Giving the finest words – the message
“…pray that you may comprehend the greatness of this message which I am giving you…” October 25, 1988
3. The most beautiful instruments – those who voice the message with their life.
“…you are my extended hands, my instruments…” May 31, 1995
No one will write the preceding concerning Medjugorje, either out of fear of being wrong or through not recognizing Our Lady’s words and Her time, or a combination of both. The full truth is given as an impetus for you to – stop, listen and rearrange your life to be on your knees when Love descends upon the earth. Our Lady is composing a beautiful melody through love, in order to accomplish…
“…that in the whole world may come the Kingdom of Love. How mankind would be happy if love reigned!” March 25, 1986
Think what would happen if many of Our Lady’s followers rearranged their schedules to pray the Rosary on their knees in silent prayer at the moment Our Lady descends for Her apparition upon the earth each day. How beautiful a melody would rise to Heaven at that moment, from the metro subway to the mountain tops, as Our Lady, the Favor of Heaven, ascends back to Her abode with our prayers – bringing about the Kingdom of Love on earth. Our Lady said:
“I am beautiful because I love...” March 25, 1985

P.S. Take time to reflect upon this writing, “Will You Miss Out on the Second Greatest Moment in Time?” while you stare into the eyes of Mirjana. What will you be doing at 6:40 p.m. this evening, Medjugorje time, and tomorrow, and the next day? Will you drift back into the business of your life after a few days, becoming unconscious of Our Lady’s visitations, or will you make a life change today, and commit to honoring this moment of Our Lady’s apparitions wherever you may be? Fast forward to the day of your judgment when you will stand before God to make an accounting of your life. What will you have to say for yourself, you who knew Our Lady was appearing every day? Scripture states that love forgives a multitude of sins. Love Our Lady enough to honor Her at 6:40 p.m. Medjugorje time, and the Father will bless you for that love. On the other hand, imagine how difficult it will be to have to admit that we knew Our Lady was appearing, but we were too busy in our lives to make a small space to honor Her each evening.

Pilgrim with son, September 2, 2010
It’s a scene right out of the Bible. Throngs of people, broken humanity, coming with all the hope in their hearts to the only source who can give hope for a better way, a better life. But the Mother is always ready to receive them all, bringing Her blessing, Her comfort and the council that will lead to healing. How far this father has traveled with his young son, not only to Medjugorje, but through the weariness of life with its bitter disappointments that is mirrored on the face of the boy. They, and everyone who gathered to be with Our Lady today, September 2, 2010, for Mirjana’s apparition, received a great treasure in Our Lady’s assurance that She is with us “…to help you overcome trials…” And to this boy who cannot walk She says, as She says to all of us,“…if you desire to walk with me…” A Friend of Medjugorje has often wondered if at the time of the secrets there will be widespread miracles around the world that will testify to the truth of Our Lady’s apparitions—the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the lame will walk. It is something beautiful to contemplate. But everyone, today, can experience “…the peace of God’s love…” if we but heed and live Our Lady’s words.

Mirjana holding out her hands, September 2, 2010
Mirjana in ecstasy, September 2, 2010 in Medjugorje, on the day of unbelievers. Mirjana, once said in an interview that there are many who call themselves Christians who are actually unbelievers. "The Blessed Mother says from time to time even her most faithful children are unbelievers. We all have our moments during the day, during each day of our life, where even the most faithful among us do not believe. So the Blessed Mother prays for each of us too. Many of us who think we believe have many parts of ourselves that really do not believe. The Blessed Mother repeats this plea to her faithful ones: 'Please pray for unbelievers every day. They know not what awaits them.' She recognizes sadly that many of her children throughout the world go to church or places of worship just becase it is a tradition, but htey are unbelievers because they do not really know and love God. They only go to places of worship as a social custom. The Blessed Mother says they need much prayer so that they, too, can believe."

Mirjana with her hands folded, September 2, 2010
September 2, 2010—Medjugorje visionary, Mirjana, in ecstasy at 8:40 a.m. With visionaries Ivan and Marija leaving Medjugorje soon to return to their homes, Ivan to the United States, Marija to Italy, the pilgrims coming to Medjugorje look towards Mirjana’s apparitions as their opportunity to be with Our Lady in an apparition. Though Our Lady said on March 18, 1996, “…My eyes and my heart will be here, even when I will no longer appear…”, still our human nature longs to experience as much as is possible what Mirjana experiences in the apparitions. We thank Our Lady continuously for giving us these special second of the month apparitions that make us feel that She is so close to us all.

Mirjana with the pilgrims during the appariton
It’s a scene that we’ve grown used to seeing, month after month. Mirjana kneeling in front of Our Lady’s statute with upturned face, with focused eyes, and the crowd of believers surrounding her in silent prayer. Our Lady comes, looking into our hearts and giving us Her words—words that She said we would one day lament for. Though we are witnesses to these events, and those in the future will envy us the opportunities we had in being with Our Lady, we envy those in the future who will have a much greater understanding of what took place in our lifetime, after the secrets are fulfilled and a new life begins. But even though we understand who Jesus is today far more than the Apostles who walked with Him, who wouldn’t have wanted to be there to see Him work His miracles, hear Him speak, look into His eyes of love? We may envy those in the future, but we are blessed to be the witnesses of Our Lady in these last apparitions of Her on earth where visionaries can see Her, speak to Her, and touch Her.

Mirjana, crying after the apparition, September, 2010
Mirjana is overcome with emotion at Our Lady’s leaving today, September 2, 2010, and she takes a few moments to recollect herself before relaying Our Lady’s words. The silence of the crowd is always amazing to experience at the time of the apparition and afterwards, especially as the majority of the people gathered never see Mirjana, they simply understand when she is present, and they enter the quietness of their own hearts to speak to Our Lady. Not even in our churches today can you hear such silence.

The crowds leaving the apparition, September 2, 2010
The apparition of September 2, 2010 has just ended and now the thousands of pilgrims who had been gathered at the Blue Cross patiently walk the paths through the vineyards to their rooms speaking in hushed tones or in silence as they contemplate the mystery of what they just experienced. Their feet trace the steps of pilgrims who have been walking this path for 29 years. They come and continue to come from all over the world. They leave Medjugorje and tell their experiences, what they “witnessed”, igniting in the hearts of others the desire to come, to see, to experience. And Medjugorje goes on…
