State Of Florida Recognizes Diocesan Prison & Jail Ministry Efforts

Florida

Department of Juvenile Justice Secretary Frank Peterman, Jr. recognized the bishops who comprise the Florida Catholic Conference and Thomas Gillan, manager of the Diocese of Orlando Prison and Jail Ministry, for their work in the area of juvenile justice.  More than 250 people attended Our Children, Our Future Faith and Community Symposium on Wednesday, September 29 where the awards were presented.  The Symposium is sponsored by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).  The purpose of the Symposium is to train volunteers to help DJJ Youth.  "DJJ's Faith Partners and Volunteer Chaplains support the success of troubled children in their communities," said DJJ Secretary Frank Peterman, Jr. "Florida stands forward among states in enlisting such widespread, comprehensive and organized support on a purely volunteer basis."

Please no anonymous comments. I require at least some way for people to address each other personally and courteously. Having some name or handle helps.
