How to Rejoice Amidst Trials 12/12/10

The Crossroads Initiative, Dr. Marcellino D'Ambrosio

Rejoice!

3rd Sunday of AdventThis Sunday, the third Sunday advent, is Gaudete or “rejoice” Sunday. Pink instead of purple means a break from penance to smile with joyful anticipation.  So how come Sunday’s gospel provides us a rather pitiful scene of poor John the Baptist languishing in jail?  What’s the connection between the Baptist, trials and spiritual joy?  Visit The Crossroads Initiative to find out.  And don’t forget to check out our entire Advent/Christmas library.  Great new stuff is being added every week, like the tips on how to make Christmas gift-giving enhance the reason for the season, not distract us from it.

Our Lady of GuadalupePatroness of the Americas

On December 12, the Church in the Western Hemisphere celebrates the memory of an amazing apparition of the Blessed Mother in Mexico which jump-started the evangelization of our two American Continents.  Read the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and pray the prayer written by Pope John Paul II to the Indian Madonna.
