Morsel from the Editor

Welcome to this issue of Prayerful Morsels. This is my Advent & Christmas issue. It is almost 2011! Where does the time go?

I am excited to announce some news. I am now a columnist for Examiner.com. I am the Fort Myers Catholicism Examiner. Please check it out and support me by subscribing. The more subscribers I have, the better my paycheck! (Yes, I actually get paid for that!)

Please note the Gratitude Journal below. I always include this in the monthly issues of Prayerful Morsels so we can share our blessings. I have found that the more I express my gratitude for all God has given me, the more I FEEL grateful and the more positive my outlook on things.

Now I have a Gratitude Journal on my website. You can join me and share your own blessings there! It is like having your own journal online. Your friends and family can read it and comment on what you have submitted. You can add to it if you wish.

I also have a page where you can submit your favorite saint! Why not check it out?

Speaking of my website, I will have a series of 3 short Advent audio reflections there within the week! Be sure to visit!

Hope you enjoy this issue and have a blessed Advent and Merry Christmas!

Prayerful Quote

Seek God everywhere, so that the whole world becomes charged with the presence of the beloved.

Anthony de Mello

Keeping It Simple
by Colleen Spiro
The catch phrase for me this Advent is Simple. I have felt drawn to that since before Advent even began. So I decided to do just one new thing for Advent - keep a prayer journal.
Simple.
I just want to be able to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season and not get all caught up in the shopping and frenzy etc. Just take one day at a time and keep my eyes on Jesus.
Anthony de Mello's quote that I found for this issue's Prayerful Quote, is so beautiful to me. Seek God everywhere - well, I already try to do that.
But it is in seeking God that we find Him. His presence is everywhere. We need to just look.
So we spend this Advent looking. And waiting. And seeking. And praying, Come, Lord Jesus.
Simple.

If I Knew the Gift of God
by Colleen Spiro

John 4:10 - If you knew the gift of God ...

We say we know, but do we?

If I only knew the gift of God ...
If I only knew how much God wants to give me ...
If I only knew how much God loves me and how far He would go to prove that love ...

If I only knew God's unconditional love that is not based on how good I am or what I have done for him lately ...

If I only knew Jesus and his compassion, ...
If I only knew that by knowing Jesus, I know the Father, ...

If I only knew the gentleness of the Holy Spirit, ...

If I only knew the gift of God, .... Then my life would be different. And my heart would be changed. And I would stop worrying about the little things and I would enjoy the peace and joy and hope that only God can give us.

If I only knew ...

But I do know .. So why don't I live like I know?

A Gratitude Journal

I'm thankful to God for my family, my friends, and my church family. I'm also thankful for the beautiful sky, the fall leaves here in New England. Soon there will be snow and that is beautiful, too. - Carol
