Priest's sudden death shakes parishioners - News - Citizens Voice

Let us pray for him:
The sudden death of a popular priest has saddened members of the community he served.

The Rev. Daniel D. Hitchko, a state police chaplain and pastor of St. Cecilia and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic parishes in Exeter, died unexpectedly Thursday minutes before Wyoming Area Catholic School's Christmas program started at 6:30 p.m.

The Rev. Paul McDonnell, rector of the Oblates of St. Joseph Seminary in Laflin, who assisted Hitchko with weekend Masses, said the Rev. Hitchko was anxious to get to the pageant. He arrived early, greeted people, sat down in his seat - and collapsed, the Rev. McDonnell said. He said the children did not witness it. The show did go on.
