Day of Evangelization | It's a Catholic thing: From Fr. Jay Finelli

You may have found this website in searching for a way to reach out to your parish, or you may have come here by chance.  Whatever got you here, it is really not by chance. our Lord and His Mother are doing a mighty work today, and you are invited to participate.

The Day’s of Evangelization originated here, in the Diocese of Providence, and it is our hope that they travel from sea to shining sea and beyond.

Within this site you will find information and resources to help you organize a Day of Evangelization in your parish.  You will also find dates of upcoming Days that you can help with.

Your help in these Days is of utmost importance to the vitality of the Church today.  Servant of God, Pope John Paul II, when it put out the call for a new evangelization said this:

“Our most persuasive arguments will not be intellectual apologias of dogma and canon law, which seem parched and lifeless to the parched and lifeless. Rather, our evangelization must target people’s hearts, address the issues of isolation, meaninglessness and despair that drive people to contraception, abortion, euthanasia, and the rejection of sacramental marriage. We must appeal to the fruits of faith and not its rules. People buy the rules only when they desire the fruits that follow.”

Building on the course set by John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI  created a new Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.  In the Moto proprio called “Always and Everywhere”, Pope Benedict stressed that he created the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization as a Vatican office with it’s supreme task of preaching the gospel to Europe and other traditionally Christian regions where the faith is in crisis.

Two Popes, one vision – the re-evangelization of the world.  This is a mandate and you and I are blest to be part of this vision.  Will you answer the call to the new evangelization?  Join us in welcoming  people to Come Home to the Catholic Church through the Day of Evangelization.

Come back soon for more updates!
