Our church, St. Mary of the Lakes, was packed for the 8am Ash Wednesday Mass. I was surprised to see so many, but the times are full of anxiety and people turn to God when things are tough. One thing that was different, the pastor waited until the final blessing and then blessed and distributed ashes. For the first time that I can remember, no one left the church after receiving Communion. All waited for the ashes!
