Dear Family of Mary!

Dear children! As I call you to prayer for those who have not come to know the love of God, if you were to look into your hearts you would comprehend that I am speaking about many of you. With an open heart, sincerely ask yourselves if you want the Living God or do you want to eliminate Him and live as you want. Look around you, my children, and see where the world is going, the world that thinks of doing everything without the Father, and which wanders in the darkness of temptation. I am offering to you the light of the Truth and the Holy Spirit. According to God's plan I am with you to help you to have my Son, His Cross and Resurrection, triumph in your hearts. As a mother, I desire and pray for your unity with my Son and His works. I am with you; you decide. Thank you. (June 2, 2011)

Today I want to share a beautiful email I received from Michele. She shares about an experience of the Holy Spirit she had on Apparition Hill, last week! Awesome! She writes:

Dear Cathy,

I just had to write to thank you again for your reflection and sharing on the Holy Spirit. Last week I was so very blessed to be able to be in Medjugorje. Wow! It's difficult to find the words to express the overwhelming love I experienced there through the Holy Spirit. There were many graces received in the "intense communion" spent with our Lord and Our Lady. I'm still feeling that love, praise God, even though I had to leave that land so lovingly embraced by our Lady. It was very difficult to leave, and I look forward to one day returning.

There were several incredible experiences that happened while there, but I wanted to share one that related so directly to your reflection today.

A friend I met there and I were descending from Apparition Hill. We'd been praying and quietly sharing. Her sister had been hurt badly several years ago and was truly suffering from depression and anxiety. I felt moved to share a forgiveness story from my life that she seemed to really appreciate. She then decided the thing she needed to pray for, was that her sister could forgive the man who hurt her so deeply. The forgiveness story our Lord modeled for us...

Suddenly my friend noticed a bright light shining in some trees over the rooftops of the town. We both watched this beautiful white, gold light pulsating wondering what it was. We captured it with our camera. Since it was the middle of the afternoon, it didn't make sense that a light that big and that bright would be shining so. We wanted to believe it was supernatural. It surprised me so, because I totally didn't expect it. I'd been looking for signs all week, and almost missed this one. When we showed the picture to Ivan (we were blessed to stay at his home all week), he affirmed it was a sign. A few days later, as I was praying the rosary, I realized the spot where we noticed the light was near the 3rd station of the Glorious Mystery - The Descent of the Holy Spirit! Wow! Since then, graces continue to flow...and I realize being open to the Spirit's gifts is so exciting. How blessed we are! How loved we are! I understand St. Basil's words...receiving the gifts is limited only by our nature.

God bless you and thank you for responding to the call to share your faith, Cathy. Your messages mean even more to me now.

Sincerely,

Michele

Thank you, Michele! There is so much to think about in your email. First, the experience of the Holy Spirit is so intense in Medjugorje. It is like being in the upper room with Our Lady. She teaches us all about her Spouse and how to hear and respond to Him. She is the person Jesus entrusted his Apostles to after the Ascension, the one who could prepare them for Pentecost. She can prepare us as well.

Second, I believe that forgiveness is one of the most important ways in which we allow Jesus and His Cross and Resurrection to triumph in our hearts. Jesus' death on the Cross was a triumph of love and forgiveness. His Resurrection was the result of that triumph. So your sharing about forgiveness with your friend was exactly what the Spirit wanted to communicate. It is also the way that we all can allow Jesus' Cross and Resurrection to triumph in our hearts. Forgiveness from the heart makes us like Jesus!

As we prepare for Pentecost, may we live the triumph of the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus!

In Jesus and Mary!
