August 16, 2011. (Romereports.com) The pope celebrated the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady in his summer residence of Castel Gandolfo. He said the feast allows faithful to reflect on life and the future.

Benedict XVI
“This feast talks about our future. It says that we too, will be next to Jesus in the Glory of God. It invites us to have courage and to believe in the power the Resurrection of Christ can have in us.”

Benedict XVI also mentioned that pilgrims must follow the example of Mary, by accepting Christ and following His message on a daily basis.

Benedict XVI
“It's a mystery of hope and joy for all of us. In Mary, we see the goal we set out for ourselves of connecting our lives to the life of Jesus.”

The dogma of the Assumption was made official in the year 1950 by pope Pius XII.
