lessed, all pure and Mother of our God. We magnify you who are more honorable than the Cherubim and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim. You who, without losing your virginity, gave birth to the Word of God. You who are truly the Mother of God.
Encyclical Letter of John Paul II , Redemptoris Mater

Par #32.

 Meditation:
St. John Chrysostom is known as one of the four great Greek Fathers, (some say the greatest) a Doctor of the Church and the patron of preachers. (347-407 AD)

John Paul II
Meanwhile, it is a hopeful sign that these Churches and Ecclesial Communities are finding agreement with the Catholic Church on fundamental points of Christian belief, including matters relating to the Virgin Mary. For they recognize her as the Mother of the Lord and hold that this forms part of our faith in Christ, true God and true man. They look to her who at the foot of the Cross accepts as her son the beloved disciple, the one who in his turn accepts her as his mother. Therefore, why should we not all together look to her as our common Mother, who prays for the unity of God's family and who "precedes" us all at the head of the long line of witnesses of faith in the one Lord, the Son of God, who was conceived in her virginal womb by the power of the Holy Spirit?
Redemptoris Mater, #3o

Resolution:
Today in honor of the feast day of St. John Chrysostom, I will listen to the words of John Paul II and turn to our common Mother who prays for the unity of God's family. In a special way today, I will turn to Our Lady for peace in the world and also for unification of all Christians. This is a prayer intention dear to our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI who said he chose the name Benedict because of the work of Benedict the XV who worked for peace and the Christian unity of  Europe .

Marian Vow:
St. John  Chrysostom
Let us gather oil for our vessels while yet we live, for leaving this life we can no longer buy it, nor procure it elsewhere, save at the hands of the poor. Let us while we are here gather it abundantly, if we wish to enter in with the bridegroom; if we do not we must remain outside the Bridegroom's chamber.
Sunday Sermons of the Great Fathers, (Preservation Press: 1996), Volume I, 268.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
