Topic: Holy Name of Mary

Quote:
St. Germanus
[A]s breathing is a sign of life, so also is the frequent pronunciation of the name of Mary a sign either of the life of divine grace, or that is will soon come; for this powerful name has in it the virtue of obtaining help and life for him who invokes it devoutly.
St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary, (Tan Books), 239.

Meditation:
St. Alphonsus di Liguori begins his meditation on the holy name of Mary with
"Thy name is as oil poured out." Canticles 1:2.

He continues "on these words blessed Alan says, 'that the glory of her name is compared to oil poured out; because oil heals the sick, sends out a sweet odour, and nourishes flames.' Thus also does the name

of Mary heal sinners, rejoice hearts, and inflame them with divine love."
St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary, (Tan Books), 238.

Resolution:
I will remember the words of St. Germanus who reminds us that the frequent calling upon the name of Mary is a sign of a healthy spiritual life. When I can say no other prayer today, I will remember to say the name of Mary.

Marian Vow:
St. Louis de Montfort
Both Saint Bernard and Saint Bonaventure say that the Queen of Heaven is certainly no less grateful and conscientious than gracious and well-mannered people of this world. Just as she excels in all other perfections, she surpasses us all in the virtue of gratitude; so she would never let us honor her with love and respect without repaying us one hundredfold. Saint Bonaventure says that Mary will greet us with grace if we greet her with the Hail Mary.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
