Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer: 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Autumn

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Mark 12: 30-31

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Back to the basics! To say ‘Christian’, is to say love - the love of God for us in Christ Jesus, and then our response, the love we show to God and to our neighbor. On one occasion, the Bishop visited the Parish and asked the children to be confirmed a question: “By what sign will others know you are Catholic?” He was expecting that they would say, “the Sign of the Cross. No answer came. So the Bishop himself made sign of the cross, and asked again. One very wise child then shouted out “LOVE!” The Bishop was taken back, but realized that the child gave the correct answer - the sign of the cross is love, and love is the sign of the Christian.

O God, fountain of love, pour Your love into our souls, that we may love those whom You love with the love You give us, and think and speak with the love You give us, and think and speak of others tenderly, meekly, lovingly. And so loving our brothers and sisters for Your sake, may we grow in Your love and dwelling in Your love, may we dwell in You.
Amen
