33rd Sunday of the Year
We are surrounded by variety. We vary greatly in talents and in abilities – one, two, or five talents. Somewhat like the handicap system in golf, everyone has a chance, an equal chance to shine. What is important is not so much whether we have much or little, or whether we have a handicap of 5 or 15. What matters is what we do with the gifts or talents given to us. First of all let us be grateful to God for the gifts He has given us.
| | Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all that You have done for us. We thank You for the blessing of family and friends. We thank You for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight You. We thank You also for disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on You alone. Above all, we thank You for Jesus Christ, for the truth of His Word and the example of His life. Grant us Your Spirit, that we may know Christ and make Him known, and through Him at all times give thanks to You in all things.
