Mary TV Daily Reflection 12/13/2011

St. Lucy

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children, as a mother I am with you so that with my love, prayer and example I may help you to become a seed of the future, a seed that will grow into a firm tree and spread its branches throughout the world. For you to become a seed of the future, a seed of love, implore the Father to forgive you your omissions up to now. My children, only a pure heart, unburdened by sin, can open itself and only honest eyes can see the way by which I desire to lead you. When you become aware of this, you will become aware of the love of God - it will be given (as a gift) to you. Then you will give it (as a gift) to others, as a seed of love. Thank you." (December 2, 2011)

Before we get too far away from Our Lady's message of December 2, I would like to take some time to reflect upon it. It is packed with meaning. The image of the seed resonates with many of Jesus' parables. He liked to refer to seeds. (Look at Matthew 13 or 17, Mark 4, Luke 8 and Luke 13.)  One reason might be because seeds are so miraculous! They are tiny, and seemingly encased, almost entombed. But they carry within them life!

Life has such a tiny beginning! With miniscule resources, a seed is sent off into the world. It is defenseless and at the mercy of the wind and rain, of animals and other plants, of human intervention, and of countless other things that could prosper or destroy it. And yet, that is how God has designed life. The seed carries the DNA of a new plant. And if all goes well, that plant will grow from the seed, multiplying in size by many thousands. What a miracle!

Our Lady tells us that we are seeds and that she is with us so that we can be the happy seeds who prosper and grow into firm trees. She wants to plant us in her garden, where she can tend us and make sure that everything around us will prosper us. She is the best gardener in the world, and she has chosen us to be her seeds! She tends us with her love, her prayer and her example.

She plants us lovingly in her heart, knowing that it is there that we will grow the best and get the right amount of nutrients. The love in her heart creates a safe environment surrounding us and gives us the peace and security we need to grow in peace. Her love protects us from our enemies, the world, the flesh and the devil. She shields us from temptation and attack, and provides what is

good for us.

She waters us with her prayer, pouring out the waters of the Holy Spirit upon us, so that we do not wither and die. The Holy Spirit always flies to the soul in which Mary is found. And so we are like trees that are planted by running waters, when we are living with Mary. The graces we need are abundant and never run out!

And she gives us her example as our guide as we grow. She is like the sun that shines upon us, drawing us forth into life. As we look upon her and learn from her life, we draw from her the strength of character we need to become strong. She is our light, a light that makes everything clear and right, a light that helps us discern and choose the good.

And so, in Our Lady's garden, we can become the good seeds that grow and yield 100-fold. We can become trees that spread their boughs over the earth. Planted in her loving heart, watered by the Holy Spirit, her spouse, and taught in her school of virtue, we can grow into trees of life for Jesus.

How beautiful is Mary's garden!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
