Without the Shepherds none of this would be possible

Dear Family of Mary!

"...Pray for the shepherds because none of this would be possible without them. Thank you." (November 2, 2012)

Following the death of Fr. Petar Vlasic, the parish of Medjugorje has received a new pastor, Fr. Marinko Sakota who has been in Medjugorje as associate pastor since September 2010. Fr. Marinko Sakota author of the book "Live with the Heart - the Life and Works of Fr. Slavko Barbaric". He is 44 years old, and now shoulders a very heavy load. He will orchestrate the many ministries of St. James Parish, the place where the world comes for Holy Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He will need our prayers to carry on this incredible work of spiritual renewal through Medjugorje.

Our Lady has been appearing in Medjugorje for over 31 years now. She has been calling her children back to Holy Mass, Confession, the Bible, prayer with the heart, especially the Rosary, and fasting. She calls her children to live their lives centered on the Church and the Sacraments, which is why she tells us that without our shepherds, none of the renewal she has come to foster would happen. Mary has put her priests to work!!

It is interesting that in the United States Cardinal Dolan seems to have caught on to Our Lady's desires. He opened the Nov. 12-15 fall general assembly of American Bishops in Baltimore with a rousing talk about the need for all bishops and priests to go to confession! He told them that there can be no new evangelization without their repentance first. The Catholic News Service quoted him as saying:

Reconciliation "brings us sacramentally into contact with Jesus, who calls us to conversion of heart, and allows us to answer his invitation to repentance -- a repentance from within that can then transform the world without," Cardinal Dolan said.

"What an irony that despite the call of the Second Vatican Council for a renewal of the sacrament of penance, what we got instead was its near disappearance."
Cardinal Dolan said, "The answer to the question 'What's wrong with the world? What's wrong with the church? is not politics, the economy, secularism, sectarianism, globalization or global warming ... none of these, as significant as they are." He quoted author G.K. Chesterton, who wrote, "The answer to the question 'What's wrong with the world?' is just two words: 'I am.'"

"Most of all," Cardinal Dolan added, "we work at giving our people good examples of humble, repentant pastors, aware of our personal and corporate sins, constantly responding to the call of Jesus to interior conversion." (Mark Pattison, Catholic News Service.

What a good shepherd he is! He understands the need for conversion in the leaders first! He sees the role of shepherd as first and foremost one of example. The grace of the Sacraments will flow through such converted hearts for all of us.

Medjugorje has been called the Confessional of the World! Conversion is in the air you breathe in Medjugorje. And it is the same for the priests who come there. They receive the healing of confession, and then in turn minister to the sheep through confession. It is an incredible place of renewal for priests and people alike!

Yes, after Vatican II, confession nearly disappeared. But in Medjugorje Confession is re-emerging as the dynamo behind the rebuilding of the Catholic Church. Fr. Marinko Sakota now has the big job of overseeing the administration of the Sacraments in Medjugorje. His pastoral guidance will help to continue the pipe-line of grace that is flowing from the parish of St. James! Truly, without the shepherds, this huge renewal through Medjugorje would not be possible. May it extend to every country in the world including the USA and Cardinal Dolan's brother bishops! We need Confession!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
