CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer 2/3/2013

Weekly Prayer Reflection for Winter

“Love is patient... Love is kind… Love never fails… And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

1 Corinthians 13:4,8, & 13

4th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Friends,
The magnificent writing of St. Paul on love is often most appropriately proclaimed at weddings. Marriage can only be successful if there is a deep, abiding, generous love between the spouses. But the message of Paul applies to each and every human person. Our origin is love and our destiny is love. We are also reminded that the road to heaven, the only road to heaven, is paved with deeds of love. Recall too, that the letter of St. John affirms the best and only way to show our love for God is by loving our neighbor. So let us pause a few moments to reflect on the extent of love in our lives, and let us pray for an increase of that love.

God of love, we ask You to give us love; love in our thinking and speaking. Love in our doing, love in the hidden places of our souls; love of our neighbors near and far; love of our friends, old and new; love for those with whom we work. Love in joy, love in sorrow, love in life and love in death, so that at length we may be worthy to dwell with You Who is Eternal Love.
Amen
