St. Faustina, pray for us to do what it takes

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children, today I invite you to open yourselves to prayer. Little children, you live in a time when God gives great graces and you do not know how to take advantage of it. You worry about everything else except your soul and your spiritual life. Wake up from this tired world, from the tired sleep of your soul and say yes to God with full force. Decide for holiness and conversion. Dear children, I am with you and I call you to perfection and sanctity of your soul and all that you do. Thank you for having responded to my call." (Message through Ivan in Buenos Aires on March 6, 2013)

Our Lady gave this message to the people of Argentina who had gathered around Ivan for the apparition in Buenos Aires. Her words are challenging. We can all profit from them. Our Lady has been equally challenging over the past two months in most of her messages. She is calling us to wake up, to call upon our inner strength and our capacity to choose, to activate our wills. She is asking us to open our eyes, wake up, open our hearts and decide for God.

Mother Mary is being direct with us, honest, clear, as we can see by this sampling of her recent messages:

"Wake up from this tired world, from the tired sleep of your soul and say "yes" to God with full force." (03/06/13 - Ivan)

"Do not shut your eyes to the warnings which the Heavenly Father sends to you out of love. Do you love Him above all else?" (03/02/13)

"Sin is pulling you towards worldly things and I have come to lead you towards holiness and the things of God, but you are struggling and spending your energies in the battle with the good and the evil that are in you." (02/25/13)

"How great is your love? My motherly heart is sorrowful as it searches for love in your hearts. You are not ready to submit your will to God's will out of love."(02/02/13)

"Therefore these days that are upcoming, may your question also be - and I pose this question to you - 'What can I do that my heart may be closer to Jesus?'  May this question lead you.  Say to yourselves, 'What must I leave behind?  What must I reject that my heart may be closer to Jesus?  Pray dear children, and I will pray for all of you that your answer in your hearts may be 'Yes, I desire to be closer to Jesus!'" (12/28/12)

Our Lady is urging us to overcome our weariness, our inner confusion, worldly temptations, our own desires and all our other loves, in order to choose Jesus above all else. At this time it is very important that we detach from everything and cling to Jesus. But we are tired, with that tiredness that comes from this world and its demands. She is with us to help us cut loose from all that, in order to be totally united with Jesus.

St. Faustina knew how important it was to wake from the tiredness of this world and actively choose the Lord. She wrote about it in her diary:

February 2, [1936]. In the morning, when the bell awoke me, I was so overcome by drowsiness which I could not shake off that I jumped into cold water, and after two minutes the sleepiness left me. When I came to meditation a host of absurd thoughts swarmed into my head, so much so that I had to struggle throughout the whole meditation. It was the same during prayer time, but when Mass began, a strange silence and joy filled my heart. Just then, I saw Our Lady with the Infant Jesus, and the Holy Old Man [St. Joseph] standing behind them. The most holy Mother said to me,Take My Dearest Treasure, and She handed me the Infant Jesus. When I took the Infant Jesus in my arms, the Mother of God and Saint Joseph disappeared. I was left alone with the Infant Jesus. (Diary 608)

What a brave person St. Faustina was! Cold water! But she knew that she needed to be alert and in full possession of her faculties in order to pray with her whole heart. And so she chose the shock of the cold water as a cure for her tiredness. And she was rewarded with this most beautiful encounter with Mother Mary, St. Joseph, and Baby Jesus!!

We are being called to just such courage! We need cold water to wake us up! We need to desire God above all else. May we be as courageous as St. Faustina in these days. Holy Mother Church is depending on our prayer  (especially for our Cardinals as they choose the next pope). The world may be depending upon it as well. We do not realize the immensity of the grace available at this time. We probably do not know how to open ourselves to it. As Our Lady told us, "Little children, you live in a time when God gives great graces and you do not know how to take advantage of it." Let's jump in that spiritual cold water and wake up before the time passes us by!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
