Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children, I have come to you here and introduced myself as the Queen of Peace. And today in a special way I invite you to pray for peace. Pray for peace. And especially in your families, peace, peace dear children. Open yourselves to the gift of peace. The Mother prays together with you and intercedes for all of you before her Son. The Mother loves you with motherly love. Thank you, dear children, for also having responded today to my call." (Message through Ivan, Monday evening, June 17, 2013)

When we first heard this message through Ivan, Denis asked me what it means to "pray for peace." He said that as many times as he has heard this phrase, he still doesn't quite know how to do it. So I decided to look at some of the other messages in which Our Lady spoke about praying for peace, to see if she could give us more light. Here are a few of the messages I found, with my own thoughts about each one:

"Dear children! Today like never I call you to pray for peace, for peace in your hearts, peace in your families and peace in the whole world, because satan wants war, wants lack of peace, wants to destroy all which is good. Therefore, dear children, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call." (March 25, 1993)

In this message Our Lady suggests that praying for peace is a war strategy. Our enemy, satan, wants to destroy all that is good, through lack of peace, through war. And so, our prayers for peace are necessary to stop his plans of destruction. We pray for peace in ourselves, in our families, our communities, our countries, and in fact the whole world as a protection of all God has made. Our prayers may stand as a bulwark against destruction. As such, these prayers are spiritual warfare prayers!

"Dear children! In this time of grace, I call you to become friends of Jesus. Pray for peace in your hearts and work for your personal conversion. Little children, only in this way will you be able to become witnesses of peace and of the love of Jesus in the world. Open yourselves to prayer so that prayer becomes a need for you. Be converted, little children, and work so that as many souls as possible may come to know Jesus and His love. I am close to you and I bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call." (February 25, 2002)

Our Lady wants us to pray for peace in our hearts, and to work for it through our personal conversion. Peace comes from reconciliation with God. When we are at peace with God, we have everything. We have security, joy, hope, energy, wisdom, and love. With these gifts, we can help to build the Kingdom of God in others, because we can be good ambassadors for Christ. This peace in our hearts will change the world. These prayers then are prayers of repentance and reconciliation.

"Dear children! Also in this peaceless time, I call you to prayer. Little children, pray for peace so that in the world every person would feel love towards peace. Only when the soul finds peace in God, it feels content and love will begin to flow in the world. And in a special way, little children, you are called to live and witness peace - peace in your hearts and families - and, through you, peace will also begin to flow in the world. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 2002)

Praying for every person to feel love towards peace is a work of mercy. We can intercede for others to begin to desire and seek peace, to believe in peace, to love peace. This is praying for conversion of heart for others! We can be peace, and pray for peace to become desirable for others. This kind of prayer is intercession!

"Dear children! With this message I call you anew to pray for peace. Particularly now when peace is in crisis, you be those who pray and bear witness to peace. Little children, be peace in this peaceless world. Thank you for having responded to my call." (January 25, 2003)

I believe this kind of prayer for peace, is the prayer of faith. If we believe that God loves us and that He wants us to have peace, we will communicate that faith to others, and they will begin to believe it as well. This kind of prayer is the prayer of faith.

"Dear children! Today I call you all to pray for peace and to witness it in your families so that peace may become the highest treasure on this peaceless earth. I am your Queen of Peace and your mother. I desire to lead you on the way of peace, which comes only from God. Therefore, pray, pray, pray. Thank you for having responded to my call." (April 25, 2009)

Finally, Our Lady comes as the Queen of Peace. She comes with the authority of a queen to bring the message of peace, because God wants to establish peace through her. Peace is her main job with us. Peace is the great treasure she has come to give us. Peace is the solution to the problems she has come to solve. And so, we are asked to join her in this task, to pray with the authority of her children for this gift from God to be received by the people on earth. It is a prayer of petition, with spiritual authority behind it, the authority of the Queen of Peace.

So we can at least think of prayer for peace in these ways: as spiritual warfare prayer, as the prayer of repentance and reconciliation, as intercession, as the prayer of faith, and as the prayer of authority, calling down the gift of peace (in union with Our Lady) on this peaceless world.

One thing is for sure, peace is a precious treasure that we all long for, and Our Lady has come to help us receive it. It will come through prayer!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
