Consecration Day 25

Dear Family of Mary!

There are wonderful effects - what I would call blessings - that we receive when we consecrate ourselves to Our Lady! They are kind of like side-effects. They come to us almost without our asking for them. Our focus is giving everything to Mary, and her focus is to provide everything for us, everything we need for holiness. As her children, we don't always know what we need for holiness. We have our own ideas. But she knows, and will provide the most important gifts for us, so that we will become like her Son Jesus. Here is St. Louis' list of effects:

True Devotion To the Blessed Virgin Mary: Nos. 213-225
Wonderful Effects of this Devotion

213. My dear friend, be sure that if you remain faithful to the interior and exterior practices of this devotion which I will point out, the following effects will be produced in your soul:
1. Knowledge of our unworthiness:
By the light which the Holy Spirit will give you through Mary, his faithful spouse, you will perceive the evil inclinations of your fallen nature and how incapable you are of any good. Finally, the humble Virgin Mary will share her humility with you so that, although you regard yourself with distaste and desire to be disregarded by others, you will not look down slightingly upon anyone.
2. A share in Mary's faith
214. Mary will share her faith with you. Her faith on earth was stronger than that of all the patriarchs, prophets, apostles and saints.
3. The gift of pure love
215. The Mother of fair love will rid your heart of all scruples and inordinate servile fear.
4. Great confidence in God and in Mary
216. Our Blessed Lady will fill you with unbounded confidence in God and in herself: 1) Because you will no longer approach Jesus by yourself but always through Mary, your loving Mother.
5. Communication of the spirit of Mary
217. The soul of Mary will be communicated to you to glorify the Lord. Her spirit will take the place of yours to rejoice in God, her Savior, but only if you are faithful to the practices of this devotion.
6. Transformation into the likeness of Jesus
218. If Mary, the Tree of Life, is well cultivated in our soul by fidelity to this devotion, she will in due time bring forth her fruit which is none other than Jesus.
7. The greater glory of Christ
222. If you live this devotion sincerely, you will give more glory to Jesus in a month than in many years of a more demanding devotion.

These effects of True Devotion are truly wonderful. To have Mary's faith! As Elizabeth said, "Blessed is she who believed..." And to experience Our Lady's pure love! It will heal us from head to foot! To receive the spirit of Mary is to receive strength, for her spirit is strong and completely dedicated to God. With her spirit we will be able to conquer all temptations and difficulties. But the effect that attracts me is number 4, Great confidence in God and Mary! I have never had much confidence myself, and this lack of confidence has hobbled me all my life. But to have confidence, not in myself, but in Mary and the Lord...that would be heaven. To truly rely on Our Lady, knowing she is trustworthy is to be awash in peace. I want this confidence. And Our Lady wants it for me, for us. She has told us:

July 4, 1985 "Dear children! I thank you for every sacrifice you have offered. And now I urge you to offer every sacrifice with love. I wish you, the helpless ones, to begin helping with confidence and the Lord will keep on giving to you in confidence. Thank you for having responded to my call."

May 2, 2007 "Dear children, today I come to you with a motherly desire that you give me your hearts. My children, do so with complete confidence and without fear. I will put in your hearts my Son and His mercy. Then you, my children, with different eyes, see the world around you. You will see your neighbor. You will feel his pain and suffering. You will not turn your head from those who suffer, because my son is turning their heads. Children, do not hesitate."

Our Lady urges us to make the choice for confidence in her. Once we make that decision, she will show us how well placed our confidence is. She will give us her strength, her faith, her pure love, her spirit in such abundance that we will be amazed at the change in us. She will form Jesus in us. She will help us to be like her Son.

Confidence!

Ave Maris Stella
Hail, O Star of the ocean,
God's own Mother blest,
ever sinless Virgin,
gate of heav'nly rest.

Taking that sweet Ave,
which from Gabriel came,
peace confirm within us,
changing Eve's name.

Break the sinners' fetters,
make our blindness day,
Chase all evils from us,
for all blessings pray.

Show thyself a Mother,
may the Word divine
born for us thine Infant
hear our prayers through thine.

Virgin all excelling,
mildest of the mild,
free from guilt preserve us
meek and undefiled.

Keep our life all spotless,
make our way secure
till we find in Jesus,
joy for evermore.

Praise to God the Father,
honor to the Son,
in the Holy Spirit,
be the glory one. Amen.

St. Louis De Montfort's Prayer to Mary

Hail Mary, beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father! Hail Mary, admirable Mother of the Son! Hail Mary, faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit! Hail Mary, my dear Mother, my loving Mistress, my powerful sovereign! Hail my joy, my glory, my heart and my soul! You are all mine by mercy, and I am all yours by justice. But I am not yet sufficiently yours. I now give myself wholly to you without keeping anything back for myself or others. If you still see in me anything which does not belong to you, I beseech you to take it and to make yourself the absolute Mistress of all that is mine. Destroy in me all that may be displeasing to God, root it up and bring it to nought; place and cultivate in me everything that is pleasing to you.

May the light of you faith dispel the darkness of my mind; may your profound humility take the place of my pride; may your sublime contemplation check the distractions of my wandering imagination; may your continuous sight of God fill my memory with His presence; may the burning love of your heart inflame the lukewarmness of mine; may your virtues take the place of my sins; may your merits be my only adornment in the sight of God and make up for all that is wanting in me. Finally, dearly beloved Mother, grant, if it be possible, that I may have no other spirit but yours to know Jesus and His divine will; that I may have no other soul but yours to praise and glorify the Lord; that I may have no other heart but yours to love God with a love as pure and ardent as yours. I do not ask you for visions, revelations, sensible devotion or spiritual pleasures. It is your privilege to see God clearly; it is your privilege to enjoy heavenly bliss; it is your privilege to triumph gloriously in Heaven at the right hand of your Son and to hold absolute sway over angels, men and demons; it is your privilege to dispose of all the gifts of God, just as you will.

Such is, O heavenly Mary, the "best part," which the Lord has given you and which shall never be taken away from you-and this thought fills my heart with joy. As for my part here below, I wish for no other than that which was yours: to believe sincerely without spiritual pleasures; to suffer joyfully without human consolation; to die continually to myself without respite; and to work zealously and unselfishly for you until death as the humblest of your servants. The only grace I beg you to obtain for me is that every day and every moment of my life I may say: Amen, so be it to all that you did do while on earth; Amen, so be it to all that you are now doing in Heaven; Amen, so be it-to all that you are doing in my soul, so that you alone may fully glorify Jesus in me for time and eternity. Amen.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
