Dear Family of Mary!

December 25, 1998 (Jakov)
"Dear children! Today, on the birthday of my Son, my heart is filled with immeasurable joy, love and peace. As your mother, I desire for each of you to feel that same joy, peace and love in the heart. That is why do not be afraid to open your heart and to completely surrender yourself to Jesus, because only in this way can He enter into your heart and fill it with love, peace and joy. I bless you with my motherly blessing."

As we approach the new Liturgical Year, we may be experiencing some inner battles. The readings at Holy Mass are all about judgement time and things that have to do with the end of our own lives and the end of our world. It can make us uneasy, and open us up for temptations to fear, anxiety, and gloominess. But Our Lady gives us the way out of these temptations. She urges us to "not be afraid to open your heart and to completely surrender yourself to Jesus." This is the antidote to all temptations!!

I read this excerpt from the writings of Lucie Christine, a French Mystic. The excerpt can be found in the USA Edition of "Magnificat" on pages 386-7.

In darkness and anguish of heart. A tempest of troubles, sadness, vague uneasiness. It seems as if a storm of wicked elements were let loose on my soul. I feel myself burning with impatience, without any motive, against people whom I love the most. I want to break something. I feel displeasure, involuntary, but full of bitterness, against others, against myself, and against everything; I am even tempted against God, although this is but a passing feeling.

I go on praying as usual, and I think grace prevents anyone from noticing my interior state. Even at night, I have gone through these struggles. I could not write all I have prayed and suffered interiorly during one day and night. The soul is led, as it were, to the edge of an abyss, to the gates of an intimate death, where it seems to her that her faculties will suffer shipwreck. The she offers simply to God the total abandonment of herself, renouncing everything of which he wishes her to make the sacrifice. And this abandonment establishes the soul in a peace which renders her capable of facing all her troubles.

My soul made frequent acts of abandonment during these storms and ended them, this time, by the desire and resolution to do something more for God. What? She does not know; It is not in these states of mind that one can judge and decide what one will do. Even in general, when my poor soul wishes to make a plan to advance in sanctity she soon sees that she knows nothing about it. Lucie Christine

"[My soul] offers simply to God the total abandonment of herself...and this abandonment establishes the soul in a peace which renders her capable of facing all her trouble." Lucie Christine

"That is why do not be afraid to open your heart and to completely surrender yourself to Jesus, because only in this way can He enter into your heart and fill it with love, peace and joy." Our Lady!

The antidote to all the ills of our day, to all the temptations we endure, to all the sorrows we face, is to totally abandon our entire selves to Jesus, over and over again. He will not abandon us. He will come to our aid and quiet the most terrible storms. And He will show us the way to become the antidote to the ills of the world, through our surrender to Him.
