The Time We Spend with God

Media_httpgallerymail_iuczl

You can never know what it means to Me to be treated an an intimate friend.
It is so rare.
I delight in this as a human being.
Don't you love someone who finds rest in your company?
Keep me faithful and joyous company.
Take Me in any moment of my life and be there with Me.
Time does not exist for Me.
So, you will be there just as the Apostles were.
I will be so happy!
My darling child, try at least to understand Love a little better.

The Moynihan Report Letter #21: Benedict: "Evil will not prevail"

June 29, 2012 -- Benedict: “Evil will not prevail”

===============

Pope Benedict today in Rome
Pope Benedict XVI spoke some dramatic words today during his homily for the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul...

He said, using the words of Christ himself, that the “gates of hell,” though they will assault the Church, will not prevail over the Church (“non praevalebunt,” “they will not prevail”).

Media_httpmoynihanrep_lacre

It is a homily Benedict reportedly wrote entirely on his own, without the help of his staff.

The last time a Pope spoke spoke such dramatic words was precisely 40 years ago today, when Pope Paul VI said that it seemed to him as if, against all expectations, from “some fissure” the “smoke of Satan” had entered “the temple of God.”

We now know that what Pope Paul was referring to was the scandalous levity with which many priests after the Council treated the liturgy, the worship of God (see below for the interview with Cardinal Virgilio Noe where Noe gives us this interpretation of Pope Paul’s words)...

Vatican Diary / Opus Dei and the gendarmes win the first round

The leaking of documents has reinforced their positions in the curia. But the American party is also advancing. While for the secretariat of state, the candidacy of a non-Italian is gaining strength

VATICAN CITY, June 28, 2012 – The pope's "butler," Paolo Gabriele, remains in custody as the only suspect in the crime. At the moment, it is one of aggravated theft. The investigative commission of cardinals that is working in parallel with the Vatican magistracy is continuing its hearings.

It is not known how long it will take for the two investigations to the reach a conclusion. But this does not mean that the so-called "Vatileaks" case has not already had an impact on the life of that particular organism which is the Roman curia.

Far from it. Some consequences, in fact, can already be identified in the short term, while others can be conjectured in the medium and long term.

Mary Vitamin for the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul

Topic
: St. Peter and the Blessed Virgin Mary

Quote:
Acts of the Apostles 5:15-16
Thus they even carried the sick out into the streets and laid them on cots and mats so that when Peter came by, at least his shadow might fall on one or another of them. A large number of people from the towns in the vicinity of Jerusalem also gathered, bringing the sick and those disturbed by unclean spirits, and they were all cured.

Meditation:
St. Alphonsus di Liguori
Saint Basil of Seleucia remarks, "that if God granted to some who were only His servants such power, that not only their touch but even their shadows healed the sick, who were placed for this purpose in the public streets, how much greater power must we suppose that He has granted to her,  who was not only His handmaid but His Mother?"
St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary, (Tan Books), 95-96

Resolution:
Today, I will pray that my loved ones may have Our Lady's shadow fall upon them and heal them.

Marian Vow:
Is not one with the Marian Vow, constantly living in the shadow of Our Lady? I will remember my vow, and ask to be transubstantiated into the Immaculate.

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.

the Two Towers of Medjugorje

The two towers of St. James Church!
Our spiritual home!

June 29, 2012

Dear Family of Mary!

"Little children, I want all of you who have felt the fragrance of holiness through these messages which I am giving you, to carry this fragrance into the world which is hungry for God and for his love." (March 25, 1994)

Our pilgrimage is over, and we are all leaving Medjugorje today. The time flew by. Our Lady provided many wonderful experiences and divine appointments for us! It really does seem that we felt the fragrance of holiness these two weeks, through this time of prayer and peace. It is now time to carry that fragrance back to our families and communities where souls are dying for lack of love.

Our last day began with the prayer at the Blue Cross with Ivan. Our whole pilgrimage group gathered to pray the Rosary. We were told how the visionaries would go to the spot where the Blue Cross stands to receive Our Lady when they were being chased by the authorities. It was hidden and they could pray their secretly. The had a wooden cross to mark the spot, and one day Ivan decided that the cross needed to be protected from the elements, and so he borrowed some of his dad's paint, which happened to be blue. Thus began the Blue Cross.

Our Rosary with Ivan was so peaceful. Then we had time for quiet prayer at the cross.

There is nothing like Adoration in Medjugorje.  Thousands of people, silent, gazing upon Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, filled with awe and love.  There is nothing like it!  Only in Medjugorje!

Thank you for taking time to read these reflections about our time in Medjugorje. It has been an honor for me to collect my thoughts and share them with you. You have been in my prayers and will continue to be.

Now I am off to Rome!

American Life League Mourns with the Nation
ALL Declares a Sad Day in the History of Our Nation as the
Supreme Court Brings to Naught Our Hopes of Freedom

American Life League expresses profound disappointment and joins fellow Americans in condemning the Supreme Court of the United States in its decision to uphold Obamacare as law. Judie Brown, president of American Life League, issued the following statement:

This is indeed a sad day for the people of this once great nation where liberty has always been equated with freedom of religion, freedom from oppression, and freedom of speech. The government's draconian healthcare law denies so many rights that the true result is yet unknown, but surely liberty has been trounced in unbelievable fashion.

Let us pray for our nation. We must remember in these dark days that, while we are proud to be Americans, our primary loyalty is to God, not man and surely not the government. Civil disobedience appears to be one of the few options we have, and we say bring it.

Yahoo! News
In a victory for President Barack Obama, the Supreme Court decided to uphold his signature health care law's individual insurance mandate in a 5-4 decision, upending speculation after hostile-seeming oral arguments in March that the justices would overturn the law. The mandate has been upheld as a tax, according to SCOTUSblog, with Chief Justice John Roberts joining the liberal wing of the court. Tom Goldstein of SCOTUSblog says Roberts' vote "saved" the Affordable Care Act. Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court's swing vote, dissented, reading from the bench that he and three conservative justices believe "the entire Act before us is invalid in its entirety."
The court's four liberal justices agreed that the individual mandate could be upheld as part of Congress' power to regulate interstate commerce, but Roberts disagreed, and wrote that the mandate is actually a tax, despite the Obama administration's reluctance to describe it that way during the bill's passage. Under the law, people who do not have health insurance will have to pay 1 percent of their income to the IRS starting in 2014.

North Carolina dad battles hospital for guardianship of comatose son
ABC News
A North Carolina father is embroiled in a legal battle with a hospital that wants to assume guardianship of his comatose son. A hearing was held on Tuesday to determine who will make the medical decisions for Freddie Lempe, 18, of Smithfield, N.C. The teenager has been in a coma since a car accident on March 6, 2011. Lempe was in the passenger seat of a car that spun out of control on Highway 39 in Johnston County, N.C., throwing him out of the car. While the driver walked away with only minor injuries, the accident left Freddie with both brain and spinal cord trauma. Now, WakeMed, the Raleigh hospital in which he has been receiving care for over a year, has filed a suit in Wake County Courthouse to replace Lempe's father as his legal guardian to ensure that the overwhelming amount of paperwork is completed so that the teenager is eligible for Medicaid.

Fourth Circuit: Pregnancy Care Centers should be 'afforded the highest levels of First Amendment protection'
Americans United for Life
Today the Fourth Circuit handed two victories to pregnancy care centers (PCCs) in Maryland, striking draconian ordinances aimed at coercing PCCs into leading women toward abortion. . . . At issue were ordinances enacted in Baltimore and Montgomery County which required PCCs to post signs and make certain disclaimers regarding the services they offer. For example, the Baltimore ordinance required PCCs to post signs that they "do not provide or make referral for abortion or birth control services." The Court ruled that such compelled speech required the PCCs to participate in Baltimore's "effort to tell pregnant women that abortions are available elsewhere as a morally acceptable alternative, contrary to the moral and religious beliefs of the Pregnancy Center."

Unseen Consequenses

A Consequential Decision Made Today

The healthcare law was upheld by the Supreme Court today as Constitutional. This decision puts the whole Church in a “great conflict.” This conflict has consequences that are unseen for most Christians, most of the Church, and many others. Everyone can say that the healthcare law was made Constitutional as a tax, but this is “murder for hire” that we will be paying for people’s abortions. The repercussions of this will be as a shot heard around the world. The book, They Fired the First Shot 2012, will be finished in the next week and a half. When you read it, you will see the timing of its release is as though it was Divinely scheduled. Be ready to spread it everywhere, every place, to every person you know, and even every person you don’t know. Pray for this book. It is the instruction manual as to where we go from here. They Fired the First Shot 2012 will likely be the most important book for entering into what is before us. Pray for a wave of grace to be attached to this book. Pray for the July 4th consecration of our nation in Our Lady’s presence, and spread to people all the more to come to the Field of Apparitions for this consecration. Pack up, change your schedules, do whatever you have to do for our nation. The timing of this Supreme Court decision and completion of They Fired the First Shot 2012 just before Our Lady’s coming to our nation and its consecration to Her speaks to us loud and clear of the evil that’s ruling over us. We need Her. We have to have Her. Because for the first time since the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and now the 3rd peril that George Washington talked about, the fate of our nation is in jeopardy. This is it. They Fired the First Shot 2012. What do we do now?

HOLY FATHER RECALLS ECUMENICAL INITIATIVES OF PATRIARCH ATHENAGORAS, AND OF POPES JOHN XXIII AND PAUL VI

The Second Vatican Council, for which we celebrate the 50th anniversary of its opening in October, marked a turning point in ecumenical relations. This was said by Benedict XVI in a speech to a delegation of the Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which is in Rome for a traditional visit celebrating the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul on Friday. The Holy Father recalled the progress by the Joint International Commission for Theological Dialogue, and the good relationship and meetings between Pope John XXIII and the then Patriarch Athenagoras. The Pope concluded by speaking of his "great joy" in the manner which the current Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I, has continued this wor ... More

Vatican City, 28 June 2012 (VIS) - This morning in the Vatican, in a traditional meeting for the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul Apostles, Benedict XVI received a delegation sent by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I. The Church of Rome and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople traditionally exchange visits for the feasts of their respective patrons.

The delegation, which delivered a message to the Holy Father on behalf of the Patriarch, was made up of His Eminence Emmanuel (Adenakis), metropolitan of France and director of the office of the Orthodox Church to the European Union; His Grace Ilias Katre, bishop of Philomelion, U.S.A., and Rev. Paisios Kokkinakis of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Benedict XVI told the group that the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul "gives us an opportunity to thank the Lord for the extraordinary works He has achieved and continues to achieve through the Apostles in the life of the Church. Their preaching, sealed by the witness of martyrdom, is the solid and durable base upon which the Church rests. By remaining faithful to the deposit of faith they have handed down to us, we discover our own shared roots".

"In our meeting - as we entrust to the intercession of the glorious Apostles and Martyrs Peter and Paul our prayer that the Lord ... may soon grant us that blessed day in which we can share the Eucharistic bread - we thank God for the journey of peace and reconciliation He has caused us to travel together. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Vatican Council II. ... It was during that Council - attended, as you well know, by certain representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as fraternal delegates - that a new and important phase in relations between our Churches began. Let us praise the Lord above all for the rediscovery of the profound brotherhood which unites us, and for the distance covered over these years by the Joint Commission for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches, also in the hope that it will continue to progress in the current phase".

"As we remember the anniversary of Vatican Council II, I think it right to recall the person and works of the unforgettable Ecumenical Patriarch Athenagoras who, together with Blessed John XXIII and Servant of God Paul VI, moved by that passion for Church unity which arises from faith in Christ the Lord, promoted important initiatives which paved the way to renewed relations between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Catholic Church. I am profoundly glad that His Holiness Bartholomew I, with renewed faithfulness and fruitful creativity, is continuing along the path laid down by his predecessors Athenagoras and Demetrios, and is known throughout the world for his openness to dialogue among Christians and his commitment to announcing the Gospel in the modern world", the Holy Father concluded.

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! With great hope in the heart, also today I call you to prayer. If you pray, little children, you are with me and you are seeking the will of my Son and are living it. Be open and live prayer and, at every moment, may it be for you the savor and joy of your soul. I am with you and I intercede for all of you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2012)

Yesterday was a beautiful day for me. I rose very early, 5:00 am, and went up Apparition Hill by myself, in silence. For the first time, the hill was practically empty. I was alone with Our Lady. Only a few pilgrims were scattered over the hill side. And it was like heaven. Here are a few pictures of Apparition Hill in the early morning.

We were able to join Ivan for one last apparition last night, and I recommended all of you to Our Lady, all your intentions and needs. I feel that she wanted to bless all of us very much, because we are listening to her messages and trying to put them into practice. Our daily contact is only for that reason. Praise God!!

We leave Medjugorje tomorrow, Friday, June 29. I will have time for one last reflection from Medjugorje, and then I go to Rome, Italy, to visit my daughter for a week. I will try to send out reflections but I may have to take a day or two off. This will be precious time for me with Mary, as I only see her once a year. So, forgive me if I don't write every day.

God bless you!!

Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2012 Anniversary Message)

Our Lady gave us a beautiful gift on the 31st Anniversary. She gave us the gift of great hope in the heart! My heart leapt with joy when I heard those words! Great hope! Great hope! Thank you, dear Mother, for giving us your great hope. We need it so badly.

Yesterday (Tuesday, June 26) was another wonderful day for me and for our whole Mary TV crew. Let me pick up with some of what happened on the evening of June 25, the Anniversary. We who are staying with Ivan this week have been able to attend his apparitions in his chapel each evening. It is a tremendous privilege, and something to be treasured. We were told that on the Anniversary, Ivan would be having his apparition somewhere else, and so we would not be able to attend. But, on Monday afternoon we were told that plans had changed and Ivan would be in his chapel for the apparition and we were invited to attend! What an honor and surprise to be able to be with Ivan for the 31st Anniversary apparition.

We were not able to take pictures, so I have nothing to show you, but Denis was able to see Ivan's face from where he knelt, and he said that he has never seen Ivan so filled with joy and radiant. Ivan, himself, told us that Our Lady came, very joyful and happy, dressed in a golden dress, and that the major portion of the apparition was a private conversation between them. Our Lady and Ivan spoke of their memories of the first days. How much love passes between them! It is extraordinary!

Then we walked down to the church for the evening mass. Here is a picture of the crowd. So many people from all over the world! Praying with them is like being in heaven.

Later, Monday night, at 10:00 pm, Our Lady appeared to Ivan on Apparition Hill. I could not climb. But there were thousands of people on the hill. You can see from this picture, all the flashlights outlining the path up and down the hill.

Later that night I caught this picture of the moon. It is NOT miraculous! Just beautiful!

Tuesday was a beautiful day. We woke up to cool air!!! It was a blessed relief. After English Mass at 10:00 am, Fr. Svet gave a talk in the John Paul II building behind the church. Fr. Svet has taken care of the English speaking pilgrims for years. He is also in charge of Mother's Village, for orphaned children. Fr. Svet started his talk in a most interesting way. He mentioned to us, pilgrims, that if we don't know what is happening to us [for instance while we are on pilgrimage], that is good, because then we are learning something new, going into new territory in our lives. If we knew what was happening to us, it would not be good because we would not be moving into a new understanding of life. Moving into the unknown is a time when we investigate and become like little children. That is how we learn new things. He said that children live to play. Children play all the time, making even the smallest tasks into games. Fr. Svet said that is good. Even Jesus said, "Unless you become like this little child, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven." If we don't spend our day like a child, with the curiosity of a child, we are wasting our time. I like this!!

Unless you become like a child....

The rest of the afternoon was spent working at Mary TV. Our team is making headway with the technology. We got the rosary up and in the archives today. It is a fight!! But we will win.

At 6:00 pm it was back up to Ivan's for the Rosary and apparition. I feel so blessed to have been with Our Lady these days. As usual, you were in my heart and I offered all of you to Our Lady.

After this, Ivan took our group on a little walk in his neighborhood, to show us the important spots associated with the first day of the apparitions, 31 years ago. We saw his parent's house, which stands just a few houses down from Ivan's present house. They still live there.

A beautiful door in Bijakovici

He explained how there were really not roads in 1981, just paths. He showed us where he had been playing with his friends, and where he met Vicka and Ivanka and Mirjana, when they were running from the apparition site, full of excitement and fear. He showed us where he first saw Our Lady, and explained how he felt. The fear was overwhelming. He had never heard of an apparition. So he ran home and locked himself in his room and didn't come out until the next day. It was so nice to hear the story of the first day again.

Denis and Mara with ivan

One interesting question was asked. A pilgrim asked Ivan if he could explain what the crown of stars really looks like. Ivan responded that the crown looks like reals stars, but they are stars of light, not physical things. They form a circle over Our Lady's head, but not really close to her head. It looks almost like a halo. He said it looks similar to the crown of stars on the statue in his chapel, in shape. Wouldn't you love to see it!

Well, the gifts just keep coming to us, here in Medjugorje. We have only two full days left of this pilgrimage. You will be in our prayers. Thanks for joining me in these reflections! I feel like you are right here with me.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

On Saturday, June 16, San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer Parish again hosted the Switch Hitters Ball

Switch Hitters Ball

Will new pastor change things?

On Saturday, June 16, San Francisco’s Most Holy Redeemer Parish again hosted the Switch Hitters Ball, an annual fundraiser for the San Francisco Gay Softball League.

The parish has hosted the event each year since 2007. Video of this year’s ‘ball’ has already been posted on YouTube.

The ‘switch hitter’ in the annual event’s title does not refer to a batter who is able to hit from both sides of the plate; it refers instead to the transvestite nature of the ‘entertainment’ that takes place at the ball.” In other words, a Catholic parish is providing a venue for a drag show.

A by-no-means exhaustive list of past events held at Most Holy Redeemer includes the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Revival Bingo (cancelled by the archdiocese under outside pressure); annual fundraisers by two sado-masochistic organizations -- the InterClub Fund and the Golden Gate Guards (cancelled by the archdiocese under outside pressure); the 2007 Desperate Dive Drag Show, followed a week later by Archbishop George Niederauer’s Mass at the church during which he was ambushed by two Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in the communion line and for which the archbishop later publicly apologized; annual parish participation at the Gay Pride parade (cancelled by the archdiocese under outside pressure); the scheduled May 2010 performance by students of Sacred Heart High School of Atherton of the pro-homosexual propaganda play Be Still and Know (cancelled by the archdiocese under outside pressure, but performed instead at the Jesuit-run University of San Francisco), the 2011 planning session for Catholic participation in the Gay Pride parade; and the 2011 scheduled hosting of homosexual activist speakers for their Advent Vespers series (cancelled by the archdiocese under outside pressure).

So, while this year’s Switch Hitters Ball may be scandalous to the Catholic faithful, it is by no means unusual for Most Holy Redeemer -- and the archdiocese appears to ignore scandal at the parish except when public pressure mounts.

Most Holy Redeemer will soon be getting a new pastor, Father Brian Costello of Star of the Sea Church, who is scheduled to take over on July 1. He replaces Father Steve Meriwether, who has been pastor since 2004.

Whether the change in pastors will result in a different direction for the renegade parish remains to be seen.

In the meantime, the June 17 parish bulletin reported: “Father Steve Meriwether will be returning to San Francisco shortly and will be celebrating Mass Pride Weekend on June 23 and 24. This will be his farewell to our parish before he moves on to his next assignment.”

Visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez received her Annual Apparition Today

Ivanka learns more of fifth secret

By Jakob Marschner on Jun 25, 2012

Only the visionary’s family was there when Medjugorje visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez had her annual apparition on June 25. The Virgin Mary told Ivanka about the fifth prophetic secret and gave a short message urging prayer for peace, the visionary said after her yearly encounter with Mary.

While pilgrims from all over the world were busy celebrating the 31st anniversary of the apparitions, only few people were present when the Virgin Mary appeared in a house in Miletina in the outskirts of town this afternoon.

Here, visionary Ivanka Ivankovic-Elez received her annual apparition, as promised to her by the Virgin Mary during Ivanka’s last daily apparition on May 7th 1985.

“The apparition, which lasted 7 minutes, took place at Ivanka’s family home. Only Ivanka’s family was present at the apparition. After the apparition, Ivanka said: Our Lady spoke to me about the 5th secret and at the end said:  “I am giving you my motherly blessing. Pray for peace, peace, peace” the parish website informs.

For five years from 2005, Ivanka was told of the Virgin Mary’s  10 prophetic secrets in progression, one per year, starting with the fifth secret in 2005 and ending with the tenth in 2010. Last year’s apparition had the first secret in focus.
