Mother Mary said at Fatima: "My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the sure way which will lead you to God." St. Thomas Aquinas said: "The things we love tell us who we are!" With that in mind, I will try to post each day something about Our Blessed Lady, items about the Holy Roman Catholic Church, and public domain Catholic books too! I pray you enjoy my ministry! Below are two albums of pictures that I created: 1. Our grand daughter Adrianna. 2. Tears of Mary!

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! Today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Prayer works miracles in you and through you. Therefore, little children, in the simplicity of heart seek of the Most High to give you the strength to be God's children and for Satan not to shake you like the wind shakes the branches. Little children, decide for God anew and seek only His will - and then you will find joy and peace in Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2013)
Our Lady knows that we face
many challenges in our lives. She understands the spiritual battle we
are in. Satan is merciless, and attacks us at every turn, trying to make
us take our eyes off of Jesus and instead make us look at his evil
deeds and quake with fear. He wants to shake us like branches in the
wind. He wants us to lose heart, to panic. Our Lady knows this. And so
she has come to help us to defeat Satan. She has come to help us keep
our eyes firmly fixed on God.
"Little children, decide for God anew and seek only His will..."
Our safety lies in seeking only God, in desiring only God's will for
our lives, in choosing to be God's children no matter what. St. Faustina
wrote a beautiful prayer that expresses this firmness of faith and
commitment that Our Lady desires for us. Let's pray them with confidence
and peace. God is our Father and our Hope:
1322 The barque of my life sails along
Amid darkness and shadows of night,
And I see no shore;
I am sailing the high seas.
The slightest storm would drown me,
Engulfing my boat in the swirling depths,
If You Yourself did not watch over me, O God,
At each instant and moment of my life.
Amid the roaring waves
I sail peacefully, trustingly,
And gaze like a child into the distance without fear,
Because You, O Jesus, are my Light.
Dread and terror is all about me,
But within my soul is peace more profound than the depths of the sea,
For he who is with You, O Lord, will not perish;
Of this Your love assures me, O God.
Though a host of dangers surround me,
None of them do I fear, for I fix my gaze on the starry sky,
And I sail along bravely and merrily,
As becomes a pure heart.
And if the ship of my life sails so peacefully,
This is due to but one thing above all:
You are my helmsman, O God.
This I confess with utmost humility.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Strength to be God's children....

Our Lady says something
surprising in this message. She says, "Therefore, little children, in
the simplicity of heart seek of the Most High to give you the strength
to be God's children..." We might ask ourselves why does it take
strength from God to be His children! What is it about being God's
children that takes strength?
I think St. Paul knew the answer to this question. In the letter to the Romans he wrote:
For
all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not
receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have
received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, "Abba Father!" it is the
Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of
God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with
Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be
glorified with him. (Rom 8:14-17)
When we receive the Holy
Spirit in the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist and
Confirmation), we are brought into the family of God and made children
of God. Our lives are forever sealed with this gift, and we have a new
heritage. But this same seal, this family inheritance, marks us as
enemies of Satan and his cohort. We become a battleground on this earth.
Our souls are at issue. We have been stolen from the enemy, and now he
wants us back. And so the fight goes on. So we suffer with Christ, in
the battle over salvation.
This battle entails
suffering. We suffer with our own concupiscence. We suffer with
generational sins we inherit from our earthly families. We suffer in the
world which is so influenced by the enemy. And we suffer with the
direct influence of the enemy in the lives of men. And so St. Paul
continues:
I
consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth
comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation
waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the
creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will
of him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself will be set
free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the
children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in
travail together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves
who have the first fruits of the Spirit groan inwardly as we wait for
adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were
saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he
sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with
patience. (Rom 8: 18-25)
We groan. We suffer. We wait
with patience, while the world battles on. We have to hold firm as we
wait for our hope to be revealed, that we are children of God and that
God is going to make a new heaven and earth for us, a place where we
shall all be free of sin at last! That is our hope, and it is our
future.
And so, it takes strength
from God to actually be children of God. We have to have God's strength
to stand firm in this time of battle, to fight on for the good, to hope
in salvation, and to love with the love of God for the sake of souls. We
have to have God's strength to forgive over and over again, when we are
wronged, when evil attacks, when we fail, when others fail. It takes
strength to wait with patience.
But one day we will be
revealed as the sons and daughters of God, and all creation will be
released from sin and death! Until that time it takes strength not to be
shaken like branches in the wind every time Satan attacks. Strength!
Hope! Faith! Love!
May we consider such
sufferings as St. Paul did, as not worth comparing with the glory that
is to be revealed in us!! We are children of God!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Fr. Jerry from the Philippines gives some practical advice in his homily at St. James Church:
The Best of Our Lives
Medjugorje October 29, 2013 A.D.
October 29, 2013 A.D.
Fr. Jerry from the Philippines gives some practical advice in his homily at St. James Church:
Yes, the Lord uses
signs and you talk about signs. You know nothing happens by accident
for those who love God. It is not an accident that we are here in
Medjugorje. You did not decide to come to Medjugorje. You were called by
the Blessed Mother and She is very happy that we are now looking for
Her Son. Many of us have traveled so many miles. I came from the
Philippines. We are here. Mama Mary is very happy, smiling at each one
of us.
About this time, 33 years ago, I was ordained a
priest. And I ask you, pray for us, your priests. Medjugorje is the
Confession capital of the world. But if there are no priests, there will
be no Confessions. There will be no Eucharist. Please pray for each
one of us here, your priests. And be kind to your priest as well.
That’s very important, pray for us.
Brothers, do things Medjugorje tells us. Prayer
is powerful – the most simple prayers, your Rosary, meditation. Please
go home with the spirit of prayer. As you know, Medjugorje is not a
place; it is a spirit you bring with you. If you and I become more
prayerful, then this world would be a better world.
The second message is humor. It is powerful.
Medjugorje is about joy. You heard Vicka today, that joy in her eyes, in
her heart, it is so contagious. Let our Church be joyful again. Please
do not forget joy because the joy of the Lord is our strength. And one
more thing, Medjugorje reminds us about simplicity. Go back to basics.
It becomes so complicated, when all we need is a simple, peaceful life.
I’ll share with you a simple story that talks about simplicity. We were
all born and we will all die. Simple. When you were born, you and I, it
was clean. It is up to you to keep it clean. You keep it clean, it is
clean. You mess it up, it is messy. It is your call. It is your
choice. Blame no one, blame nothing for your situation. We believe in
one God. You and I, today we say, Lord, were it not for You in my life,
what would I be now? There is a God, and you are not Him. Please don’t
forget that.
The God we believe in is the Trinity. There is
God the Father who made you and me and this beautiful creation. God the
Son, the second person is our Savior, who died for you and for me. And
the third person on the Trinity is God the Holy Spirit, our guide who
leads us where we go. Beautiful prayer. Anytime we are tempted, anytime
we have problems, come Holy Spirit, come Holy Spirit. Keep it simple.
One of the three things to do while we are still alive, number one, love
God. Don’t forget to love Him. Second thing the Lord called us to is to
love your neighbor. Yes, don’t hurt people. Some of us can be so
prayerful, but we hurt others with our thoughts and words and deeds. And
finally, the third person, the third thing to do is love yourself. Take
good care of yourself. One of the things we don’t need in this life,
keep it simple, remove sin from the heart. Let us ask the Lord, “Lord
help me to spend the rest of my life, the best of my life.” We are not
getting any younger. Number two, we don’t need in our lives, heaviness
of heart, worries, anxiety, regrets, no more… travel light. And worry,
look at the birds in the air, they neither sow nor reap, but your Father
takes care of them. We worry about so many things. We have a Mother and
we have a Father who loves us. I know someone who once said, the more
you worry, the more you will hurry to the cemetery.
And finally what is most important in our
coming to Medjugorje, I hope we experience Jesus. It is the Blessed
Mother who brings us closer to Her Son Jesus. Lord that I may see You
more clearly, love You more dearly, and follow you more nearly.
Brothers, we are here. We have a mission. We have a final destination.
Before we finish, let us make a promise to see each other in Heaven
someday.
I invite all of us now to bow our heads, with
our right hand over our heart, and close our eyes and pray precisely for
that. Let us all pray for the grace of a happy death. We do not know
when or where or how the Lord will call us. But grant dear Blessed
Mother, Mama Mary, when the hour comes, I will be ready to welcome You.
That I be reconciled through the world and with myself and with You,
that I have done my mission. Thank you Lord and help us to have
beautiful lives. Help us to live the rest of our lives the best of our
lives.

Mirjana's apparition at the Blue Cross
(c)Mary TV 2013

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! Today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Prayer works miracles in you and through you. Therefore, little children, in the simplicity of heart seek of the Most High to give you the strength to be God's children and for Satan not to shake you like the wind shakes the branches. Little children, decide for God anew and seek only His will - and then you will find joy and peace in Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2013)
Prayer works miracles in you and through you...
Fr. Dominic Towey, from
Scotland has been to Medjugorje over 40 times. He shared some of the
miracles he has seen during those trips on "Fruit of Medjugorje, Episode
87:
Over the years we have
brought umpteen people here. This year alone, and over the past few
years our numbers average about 380 people coming from Scotland,
organized by my own parish...which is incidentally is the parish of St.
John the Baptist. Of course there is always a great connection between
Our Lady, St. John the Baptist and his mother, St. Elizabeth. And in
that time I have seen many, many miracles take place.
As a priest, hearing
confessions is as wonderful experience. I would think that any priest
that would have any doubts about what is happening in Medjugorje if he
just came and sat in the confessional for an hour I think he would see
the tremendous grace that is given to people to turn away from sin, to
repent, and to start again.
I have also seen great
conversions take place. For example, a few years ago we had a young girl
come with us. She was the care giver for a very handicapped lady. And
she came here, screaming and shouting. The last place she wanted to come
was Medjugorje. She was involved in the Orange Lodge, and she would go
to Ireland every year and take part in the 12th of July
celebrations there. And we went to Cenacolo to hear a witness of one of
the boys there. And the next day was Mirjana's apparition. And I
remember, we went there again (to the Cenacolo meeting tent where the
apparition took place) and she thought we were going to hear another
witness. And she saw this girl come in, and she thought to herself,
"What a shame, that poor girl. She must be so embarrassed." But it was
Mirjana, and then Mirjana started praying, and the apparition happened.
The change that took place in Linda (the girl I am sharing about) was
amazing. She just knew that something very special, very unique was
happening. And she changed her life completely. She came back to
Scotland, and she lives within the boundaries of my parish. She joined
the RCIA. She was received into the Catholic Church the following
Easter. And just a few months later I had the joy of celebrating her
marriage. And she took the name of Mary for her confirmation name
because she found the Mother here in Medjugorje!
Another example would be a
gentleman who had no faith, absolutely no faith. He was kidded along to
come to Medjugorje by his wife who said he could just relax at the pool
and read the daily newspaper. Of course when he came here there wasn't
any pool in Medjugorje, and there weren't any daily newspapers. And it
was amazing, because you could see a change was happening in him. And
again, at Mirjana's apparition...this was a different year than
Linda...he was outside the canvas (of the Cenacolo tent where the
apparitions took place) and there was a hole in the canvas, and during
the apparition he found himself staring at Mirjana. And during the
apparitions he knew Our Lady was there. He just knew it. And when he
returned to Scotland, he became a Catholic and he is a very, very active
member in the parish now. Ready to do anything. A very humble guy. He
is someone who is well known in Mary's Meals, because he gave up a very
good job to take smaller pay, and do something worthwhile. He had found
God; he had found Mary, through being here.
That is just two examples.
At our parish we have every month a Medjugorje evening. We try to follow
the program as it is here in Medjugorje, Rosary, Holy Mass, Adoration
of the Blessed Sacrament, and prayers for healing. We get about 500 or
550 people every month. It is a tremendous blessing for the parish,
because people come and want to pray and they want to experience a
deeper relationship with God. One of the things that has happened is
that there is a greater number of people going to the Sacrament of
Confession, an increase in the number of people going to daily Mass. And
a beautiful fruit of Medjugorje is that there are people wanting to
spend time before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. We are very blessed to
have an oratory in the church, dedicated to soon-to-be Saint John Paul
II, where we have 12 hours of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. And
people find so much comfort and so much joy to just be able to come and
sit in the presence of Jesus and unburden themselves. As a result of
this people are more involved in the prolife movement. People are more
involved in life issues. They want to express their faith. In Medjugorje
you really are renewed, and when you go back that renewal is something
you want to keep but you also want to share. That is why every year so
many people come to Medjugorje. Really about half of the people we bring
each year are returning, some of them for the umpteenth time. But the
other half is new people who have been touched by what they have heard.
Medjugorje is described as a
school of prayer and that is very much what it is. It is a place where
Mary gathers us as a mother gathers her children around the dinner table
or around the desk to study. She gathers us to instruct us and to point
us to Jesus. That is the beautiful thing about any Marian shrine. Mary
doesn't seek glory for herself, she is always pointing to Jesus, as she
did in Cana of Galilee, when she said, and "Do whatever he tells you."
Mary is still pointing us to Jesus.
There is one phrase I love
in the Magnificat, "My soul magnifies the Lord." Mary makes God more
visible, easier to recognize. And that is what each of us is called to
do, to make God more easily recognizable. That is something that happens
here in Medjugorje. And it is happening all over the world, as a result
of the number of people who have come here. Over 30 million people
since the apparitions started over 32 years ago. We have been blessed to
have Maria once and Ivan three times in our own church, to have the
apparitions. Wonderful to have Our Lady visit, to have Our Lady come and
bless us, and know that she is interceding for us.
In Medjugorje, miracles
happen daily. They happen through Our Lady, because she is one who prays
constantly. And they happen through Our Lady's children who are
beginning to pray constantly as well. Prayer really does work miracles.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

The Importance of the Messages
The Importance of the Messages
October 28, 2013 A.D.
October 28, 2013 A.D.
The following writing from a Friend of Medjugorje in 2009 sheds light into the way we should be think about Our Lady's messages.
Podbrdo, Medjugorje (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Our Lady’s words hold a supreme place above all other
words, all other philosophies, all works of spiritual writers, all
books, encyclopedias, etc. Only one thing stand above these precious
words of Our Lady: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They alone, the
Holy Trinity, are above Her. Also their words alone, the Bible, are
above Hers. She is to lead us to God just as Her words are to lead us
to the Bible. Her words bring new light to the Scriptures, leading us
to them, and to a better understanding of God’s holy words. Her words
are living just as God’s words are living, just as God’s words are
living. Our Lady is speaking to us, to lead us to the living words of
the Bible which are from a living God, instructing us, encouraging us,
giving us hope. The Bible is not a dead tree manufactured into paper
with ink pressed on it, but God’s powerfully present voice, living and
holy. And now Our Lady is coming daily, giving living words that are
not on an equal level with God’s words, but are given in order to lead
us to those Heavenly words of the Bible. Her words will go down in
history as a preface to understanding Holy Scriptures and to show us how
to bring into the modern world new life which is presently dying. We
are being given a preface to the Scriptures, an owner’s manual, Our
Lady’s words, to the machine, the Bible, on how to use it, how to work
it, how to understand it, how to make our lives better in this world
through it.
Through all the different hypothesis, theories, and
explanations, the true answer as well as the solution to all the
problems in the world can be found within the messages of Our Lady of
Medjugorje. Contained within these messages are God’s words on how to
bring peace to the world. Our Lady’s messages are the very thoughts of
God. When we read these messages, pray with them, study and meditate
over them, we begin to learn them and, by the grace of God, live them.
Through this process, we can replace our worldly ways and opinions with
God’s own thoughts and desires in every area of our lives.
As children of Mary, Her messages need to have a
prominent place in each of our lives. Why is this necessary? Because
Our Lady speaks strongly to us through Her messages to help us find
God’s way in everything we do as individuals, as families, as parish
churches…Her messages are living messages. They can speak to us today,
tomorrow, next year, ten years down the road. Our Lady, Herself, is
offering the world spiritual direction through Her messages and if we go
to Her with our prayers, petitions, and concerns, She very often gives
us direct answers that can transform our lives.
Our Lady wants to teach and guide us through Her
messages. We only need to give Her the opportunity to do this. Through
the messages, we learn not only how to change our hearts, but we are
given a deeper insight into God’s presence in national and world events
as we pray to understand Our Lady’s plan to save mankind.
In the Love of Our Lady,

Saint Jude Thaddeus, Apostle and Martyr
Tribulation Times
October 28, 2013
(Jud 1:17-21) But you, my dearly beloved, be mindful of the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who told you that in the last time there should come mockers, walking according to their own desires in ungodlinesses. These are they who separate themselves, sensual men, having not the Spirit. But you, my beloved, building yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto life everlasting.
ST. JUDE THADDEUS- APOSTLE
In desperate circumstances, the Faithful have always turned to the sure help of St. Jude Thaddeus - Apostle, cousin of Our Lord and martyr for the Catholic Faith. This powerful Saint is invoked in cases of extreme need, grievous illness, poverty, and when circumstances seem hopeless. Plus, he is a special defender of (and helper in regaining) purity. St. Jude has obtained remedies and comfort for countless people who have turned to him in prayer. It explains his relationship to Our Lord and describes his preaching of the Gospel in Persia. There, along with St. Simon, he performed many miracles, defeated two magicians, converted thousands - including kings - and was martyred.

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE THADDEUS
Most Holy Apostle, St. Jude Thaddeus, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of his enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many.
But the Church honors you, and I invoke you as the special advocate of those who are in trouble and almost without hope.
Help me to realize that through our faith we triumph over life’s difficulties by the power of Jesus who loved us and gave his life for us.
Come to my assistance that I may receive the consolation and succor of heaven in all my needs, trials, and sufferings, particularly (here make your request) and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever.
St. Jude, apostle of the Word of God, pray for us.

27. A brother asked a hermit, 'I hear the hermits weeping, and my soul longs for tears, but they do not come, and I am worried about it.' He replied, 'The children of Israel entered the promised land after forty years in the wilderness. Tears are the promised land. When you reach them you will no longer be afraid of conflict. St. Simon and St. Jude, Apostles
Our Lady calls us to open
ourselves to prayer. She has used the word "open" over 100 times in her
messages. Obviously, openness is something she values; it is something
that she considers indispensable for the spiritual life.
To open ourselves to prayer,
to open ourselves to God takes effort. It is not something God can do
for us. We must choose to open our hearts to prayer, to the Lord. We
must work at it. Our openness to God is really an expression of our
faith, our hope and our love (the three virtues that God can infuse in
our hearts, but which we must choose to act on). When we open to God, we
are saying:
1. I believe in you, Lord. I
believe You are here with me, that You love me, and that You will the
good for me. You have saved me through Jesus' passion and death, and You
are waiting for me to let You come into my life with that saving love
and change me.
2. I put my hope in you,
Lord. I see that life is hard, that I am sinful, that the world is bent
towards evil, and that I fail a hundred times a day. But I am clinging
to the hope that You have set before me, the hope that says that all
will be well. Your hope leads me like a light in the darkness, always
guiding me towards life.
3. I accept your love, Lord.
I see with the eyes of my heart that You love me. You have stopped at
nothing to find me and rescue me from death. Your love for me is
infinite. Your love translates into mercy, the mercy that can forgive
anything. And so I place my trust in that mercy, that love, and I will
now open the doors of my heart, of my inner self to You, so that You can
come into my life, into every part of my life, and take possession of
me. I am safe in Your hands. I am safe in Your embrace. I am safe in
Your presence. Come in.
This process of choosing to
open ourselves to God happens in prayer. It is only in prayer that we
can make such a choice because that is when we are talking to God and we
can invite Him in. It may just be a fleeting prayer, said on the run,
in an emergency, when the need is great. Or it can be a prayer that
happens during hours of adoration, during the Rosary, during Holy Mass
or Confession. It doesn't matter where that prayer takes place, it only
matters that we find ourselves ready to open to God, to His presence, to
His love, and then we say "yes". We let God in. We turn our face
towards Him, and allow Him to have full access to us. We hide nothing
from Him. And we relax and let ourselves be completely known by Him.
Our Lady gave a message that describes this kind of encounter in prayer, when we open ourselves to God:
"Dear children! Once again I desire to call you to prayer. When you pray you are much more beautiful, like flowers, which after the snow, show all their beauty and all their colors become indescribable. So also you, dear children, after prayer show before God all so much more what is beautiful and are beloved by Him. Therefore, dear children, pray and open your inner self to the Lord so that He makes of you a harmonious and beautiful flower for Paradise. Thank you for having responded to my call." (December 18, 1986)
The more open we are to God,
the more beautiful we will be. The more we open to His love, the more
harmonious our life will be, for His love will sing through us like a
song of joy. The more we open our inner selves to God, the more we will
experience Paradise and share it with others. Heaven will radiate from
within us, and others will find rest and peace in us. This is how we
will help to spread the Gospel, through our openness to God.

From The Friars eLetter: When the Eucharist became Real for me
The Fulfillment of Encounter: When the Eucharist became Real for me
Surprisingly, I don’t remember
much of that day. I remember the church and I have an image of me
sitting towards the back—wooden pews peppered with college student and
town’s folk and I, among them, heart pounding and eyes wetting, am
sitting—or am I kneeling? Either way my head is certainly buried in the
palms of my hands and quietly, maybe even inaudibly, I am tearful. Jesus
Christ is somehow inside of me. He was placed in my hands and I put him
on my tongue, chewed him with my teeth and swallowed him. It was the
first time ever that presented to me, I recognized him—his sacramental
presence—and it was the first time I ever held, tasted and consumed him
with understanding and that encounter would go on to change everything.
Yet for now I am seated in a place of wonder wrapped in a blanket of
trepidation, for he has captured me and I have allowed myself to be
caught. Only he’s not who I thought he was; no, he is more intimate and
more radical than I had ever dreamed. I would go on to learn three
things from this experience.
1) I had been worshipping God as if in exile;
2) His flesh, as he says, is in fact, true food;
3) He sees me as would a bridegroom his bride; which means that
1)I have not only returned to the temple but have become the temple; 2) eternal life begins right now;
3) there is nothing I could ever do to cause him to look away and cease loving me.
Surprisingly vague is my memory
of that day, but I can say this: I left the church after Mass stepping
into a world where the sky was bluer and the leaves greener on trees
that seemed almost to breathe, and I, with a ball cap snuggly fit,
walked home on my hands—or was it that I could now see how everyone else
in the world was living standing on their heads?

Dear Family of Mary!
Our Lady gave sporadic messages in the very beginning of the apparitions. Then she began giving weekly messages every Thursday
in 1984. Then, in January of 1987 she announced that she would begin
giving monthly messages. These messages have been given for 26 years,
every 25th of the month. Our Lady announced these monthly messages this
way:
"Dear children! I desire to thank you for every response to the messages. Especially, dear children, thank you for all the sacrifices and prayers which you have presented to me. Dear children, I desire to keep on giving you still further messages, only not every Thursday, dear children, but on each 25th in the month. The time has come when what my Lord desired has been fulfilled. Now I will give you less messages, but I am still with you. Therefore, dear children, I beseech you, listen to my messages and live them, so I can guide you. Dear children, thank you for having responded to my call." (January 8, 1987)
It must have been a bit of a
shock to adjust to a monthly message after having weekly messages for
about 3 years. The parish and the pilgrims had become used to the weekly
guidance of Our Lady. But in God's great wisdom, the time had come to
wean us off of the weekly messages and begin a different regimen. Here
is how Our Lady announced the monthly message:
"Today I want to appeal to all of you to start living a new life from this day on. Dear children, I wish that you would understand that God has chosen each one of you to have a part in the great plan for the salvation of mankind. You cannot fully understand how great your role is in God's design. For that reason, pray, dear children, so that through prayer, you may be able to know your role in God's plan. I am with you, so that you may be able to realize it fully." (January 25, 1987)
What a message this
is!! Each person who received this message was given a commission! You
are part of God's plan for the salvation of mankind. You cannot
comprehend your part, but you are part of it! Each of us was told to
pray in order to know what part we each had to play in this salvific
plan. Amazing!!
I have often wondered
about that plan, and if I am living it. It seems a bit formidable! But I
think it is much more "organic" than we realize. God's plans are always
smaller and yet more amazing than we can imagine. He asks of us only
what He has already given us.
Let me quote from Caryll Houselander. She captures this idea of our role in God's plan very well:
The
ultimate miracle of Divine Love is this, that the life of the Risen Lord
is given to us to give to one another. It is given to us through our
own human loves. It is no violation of our simple human nature. It is
not something which must be cultivated through a lofty spirituality that
only few could attain; it does not demand a way of life that is
abnormal, or even unusual; it is not a specialized vocation. It is to be
lived at home, at work, in any place, any circumstances. It is to be
lived through our natural human relationships, through the people we
know, the neighbors we see. It is given to us, if we will take it,
literally into our own hands to give. It is the love of human lovers, of
man and wife, of parent and child, of friend and friend.
It is
through his Risen Life in us that Christ sends his love to the ends of
the earth. That is why instead of startling the world into trembling
adoration by manifesting his glory, he sent the woman who had been a
sinner to carry the ineffable secret, and sent the two disciples who had
been bewildered by their blind inability to reconcile Scripture and
Calvary, and sent the friend who had denied him, to give his love to the
world, and to give it as simply as a whispered secret or a loaf of
bread. So is it that we, sinners, wranglers, weaklings, provided only
that we love God, are sent to give the life of the Risen Christ to the
whole world, through the daily bread of our human love. "It is not for
you to know the times and the seasons which the Father has fixed by his
own authority. Enough for you, that the Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and you will receive strength from him; you are to be my witnesses in
Jerusalem and throughout Judea, in Samaria, yes, and to the ends of the
earth" (Acts 1: 7-8) (Caryll Houselander. "The Risen Christ." Scepter
Publishers. P 14-15)
Jesus' plan for the
salvation of the world is carried in each of us, because He comes to
live in each of us, and then we carry Him to others. The guidance Our
Lady has been giving us all these years is designed to help us to give
Jesus a home in our hearts so that He will dwell in us and we can carry
Him to others. As each of us does that, we bring salvation to the world.
Simple but true. We don't need to be a genius, or a powerful speaker,
or a leader. We just need to love with Christ's love and He will do it
all. And living Our Lady's messages makes it all happen.
So today when we
receive another monthly message, let's allow Our Lady to continue to
build that place for Jesus in our hearts, so that we can live out the
role the God has planned for each of us in the salvation of the world.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
