The Requirements For Modesty In Dress

Tribulation Times
June 30, 2014

(1Sa 16:7) And the Lord said to Samuel: Look not on his countenance, nor on the height of his stature: because I have rejected him, nor do I judge according to the look of man: for man seeth those things that appear, but the Lord beholdeth the heart.

FATHER CARLOS PADILLA: We would like to experience Christ’s nearness. But it is so hard to become like Christ! St. Ignatius of Antioch warned us: "Do not wish to have Jesus Christ in the mouth and worldly desires in the heart at the same time."

We receive Communion, eat him as food. We are with him, but our feelings are not his. They are worldly. They are the feelings of that “old man” who lives within us and refuses to die.

VIA Jim J. McCrea: Is Your Striving For Perfection Authentic?

Many Christians strive for perfection, following the teaching of Jesus: "So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Matthew 5:48).

But we have to ask ourselves: is our perfection authentic or is it something we merely imagine to be perfection? What is true perfection that is pleasing to God?

We can ask: is our perfection a help and a consolation to others or is it a burden and a sorrow to others?

EXCERPT TRACT: The Requirements For Modesty In Dress

Modesty should be promoted by mothers in their children from early infancy.  Many foolish mothers train their little daughters to consider scanty attire as the normal thing.  Let such mothers take to heart the serious admonition of Pope Pius XII:  "O Christian mothers, if you knew what a future of anxieties and perils, of ill-guarded shame you prepare for your sons and daughters, imprudently getting them accustomed to live scantily dressed and making them lose the sense of modesty, you would be ashamed of yourselves and you would dread the harm you are making for yourselves, the harm which you are causing these children, whom Heaven has entrusted to you to be brought up as Christians."

Purity is like a precious pearl; it is purchased at a great price, retained only with great care and watchfulness and easily lost or destroyed.  Beware of pride and flattery, as arch-enemies of your purity.  You may not be finely dressed or pretty and graceful; you may not have those attractions which are most admired by the world; but if you have the virtues of modesty and purity, you have something which money cannot buy and an ornament which will outlast all the fading treasures of earth.  "How beautiful then is modesty and what a gem among virtues it is." (St. Bernard, Confessor and Doctor of the Church)

Our Sorrowful and Immaculate Mother, who in all her apparitions is fully covered, is presented by her divine Son to us as the perfect model of modesty and purity.  She is terribly saddened by the immodest and impure conduct so prevalent in our society.  Our Lord speaks to us through His Blessed Mother in condemning the modern trends of uncovering the body.  In fact, Our Lady came down from heaven to warn against this disrobing trend.  Listen to what she revealed to little ten-year-old Jacinta of Fatima while she was dying in a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1920:  "Certain fashions will be introduced which will offend Our Divine Lord very much.  Those who serve God ought not to follow these fashions.  Our Lord is always the same."  And she also revealed to Jacinta that "the sins that lead most souls to hell are the sins of the flesh."

Now let us look at pictures of Our Lady in three of her most famous apparitions: http://olrl.org/virtues/modesty.shtml

In her appearance to Blessed Juan Diego in Mexico, she left a self portrait which has been miraculously preserved for over four centuries.  It is on display in the Basilica in Mexico City.  The pictures of Our Blessed Mother as she appeared at Lourdes to St. Bernadette and to the three children at Fatima are from descriptions provided by the seers.  These appearances occurred over a period of more than four centuries, but see how her dress is always the same.

Let this paper be ended on a positive note.  The eminent way to protect and nourish an unsullied and perfect chastity, as proven by experience time and again throughout the course of centuries, is solid and fervent devotion to the Virgin Mother of God.  St. Gregory of Nicomedia encourages sinners by assurance if they have recourse to Our Blessed Mother, with a determination to amend their lives, she will save them by her intercession.  To obtain favors from Our Lady, we must perform certain devotions practiced by her servants:  First, to recite at least five decades of her Rosary every day.  Second, to wear the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.  Third, to have a picture or a statue of Our Lady in our home and recite her litany every day.  There are other devotions by the servants of Mary, but most of all we should recommend ourselves frequently to her in prayer.  "If you persevere until death in true devotion to Mary, your salvation is certain."  St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church.

EXCERPT Deseret News: Modesty means more than apparel

Walsh then shares an excerpt from the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

"Teaching modesty to children and adolescents means awakening in them respect for the human person."

Walsh then reiterates a similar message to Craig's.

"Modesty isn’t virtuous because it’s ‘hot,’ it’s virtuous because it’s concerned with something far greater than being hot."

The First Martyrs of the Holy Roman Church

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you and to lead you in prayer towards the way of peace. Your heart and soul thirst for peace and love, for God and His joy. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray and in prayer you will discover the wisdom of living. I bless you all and intercede for each of you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2014)

We received this wonderful message on the 33rd Anniversary of Our Lady's Apparitions in Medjugorje. As we read the message for the first time, Denis asked me what Our Lady meant by "the wisdom of living." I told him to "Pray, pray, pray and in prayer you will discover" it. We both laughed. This is of course Our Lady's way of constantly directing us into our own personal relationship with Jesus, with the Father and with the Holy Spirit. She never says too much. She just gives us enough information to make us wonder. And then she tells us that it is through prayer that we will understand. She is so wise!! We cannot be told such things. We must discover them through our daily walk with the Lord. He will show each one of us exactly what we need to know, uniquely for our own lives.

But, the next day at Holy Mass, I was given a clue to this question about wisdom of living. It came in the Gospel for July 26, 2014. Here is that Gospel passage:

Jesus said to his disciples:
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,'
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
Many will say to me on that day,
'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
Did we not drive out demons in your name?
Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'
Then I will declare to them solemnly,
'I never knew you. Depart from me, you evildoers.'

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined."

When Jesus finished these words,
the crowds were astonished at his teaching,
for he taught them as one having authority,
and not as their scribes. (Mt 5:21-29)

For me the anointed words of this Scripture are:

"Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock."

The wise man builds his house on rock. This building process involves listening to Jesus' words. And to listen means to pray over His words, to listen with our hearts. But we can't stop there, we must then let our hearts be moved by Jesus' words, so that we act, concretely in our personal life, we do something to make those words living. Then we will be living wisely.

It must have been arranged by the Lord that Our Lady would say this to us on the 25th and the Gospel would explain it on the 26th. Isn't that just like the Holy Spirit? To confirm, to explain, to make clear, to shed light!! We are truly in the safe and loving hands of God.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Spiritual Gems-Immaculate Heart of Mary: Understanding Mary's Flame of Love-June 28, 2014

On the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary: Understanding the Flame of Love of Mary for God

The Holy Spirit having chosen the Virgin Mary to be His Spouse must have inflamed her virginal heart with a love worthy of so great a privilege: namely that the love which the bride of the Holy Spirit must have is the same love of the Holy Spirit who is all love, so that Mary the Bride may become like unto the Bridegroom.  Such is the source of the divine love burning in the heart of the Queen of Heaven for the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  O Mother of Love, send into our hearts living sparks from the divine fire that burns in your virginal heart.

May Mary continue to strengthen our prayers with her suffrages that in the midst of the stress and troubles of nations those divine prodigies (of the first Pentecost) may be happily revived by the Holy Spirit, which were foretold in the words of David: "send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth."

Open Your Home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Tribulation Times
June 27, 2014

(Mat 11:28-30) Come to me, all you that labor and are burdened, and I will refresh you. Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: And you shall find rest to your souls. For my yoke is sweet and my burden light.

VIA NIGERIA: The Feast Of The Most Sacred Heart Of Jesus by Rev. Fr. John Damian AdizIE

THE Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Today is another special day in the history of salvation. The Catholics all over the world and some orthodox Christians are celebrating the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is the feast that highlights the importance of the Heart, as the symbol of love. It is on a day like this that we reflect on the nature of the heart of Jesus as the most sacred, the most affectionate, the most wounded and most caring heart. The heart of Jesus is so large that it accommodates all. It is a heart that feels what we feel, a heart that is meek and humble.

The human heart is the central or innermost part of the body. It is an amazing organ that pumps oxygen and blood throughout the body to sustain life. It is an indispensable organ in the body. It is the heart that sustains the human body. The human body ceases to exist whenever the heart seizes to pump. Whatever affects the heart affects the entire human body. The heart represents a person’s will or desire. It reveals one’s true nature and mortification.

The bible describes the heart as the seat of faith. Authentic faith comes from the heart. The writer of the book of Hebrew states clearly that “If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Salvation comes through faith in Christ Jesus. Faith comes through the heart. The heart is therefore the center of human belief. Without the heart there will be no faith, and without faith there will be no salvation.

Generally, the heart is often depicted as the symbol of love. It is the root of true and authentic love. True love comes directly from the heart. The Lord says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:5). Our love for God is incomplete without the heart. Our love for God must come directly from the heart.

The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus: is one of the most widely practiced and well-known Roman Catholic devotions. This devotion takes the physical heart of Jesus as the representation of his divine love for humanity. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “The prayer of the Church venerates and honors the Heart of Jesus just as it invokes his most holy name. It adores the incarnate Word and his Heart which, out of love for men, he allowed to be pierced by our sins (CCC 2669). We Adore the Heart of Jesus because it is the most sacred and most caring heart. It is a heart that is wounded by love.

The heart of Jesus was physically pierced with a lance. After his crucifixion on the Cross, the Soldier broke the legs of the two thieves that were crucified with him, but “When they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water” (John 19:32-34). The lance pierced through the heart of Jesus. His heart was wounded because of our sins.

The prophet Isaiah gave a spiritual interpretation of this wounded heart of Jesus. The Prophet wrote concerning Jesus, “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5). The heart of Jesus was wounded not because he committed any sin; he was wounded because of our transgression. Each time we commit sin we are wounding the heart of Jesus a second time.

Our Lord Jesus Christ possesses the most humble, the most caring and most affectionate heart. Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls; for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:29).

Jesus is not as heartless as most leaders. He is compassionate and love. When people are hungry Jesus is hungry with them; when they are sick he is sick with them. When Jesus saw the hungry crowd, he was moved with pity, for they were like sheep without a shepherd (Mark 6:34). Out of compassion, He took his time to teach them. He even fed five thousand men with uncountable women and children.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus: emphasizes the purest love, the long-suffering and compassion of the heart of our Lord Jesus Christ towards humanity. The origin of this devotion in its modern form is derived from Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Roman Catholic nun from France, who learnt the devotion from Jesus during a series of apparitions which occurred between 1673 and 1675.

In one of such apparitions, Our Lord appeared to Mary and revealed devotions to His Sacred Heart. Jesus said to her: “Look at this Heart which has loved people so much, and yet they do not want to love Me in return. Through you My divine Heart wishes to spread its love everywhere on earth.” Jesus made some promises to her telling her how he would help those who honor His Sacred Heart. The following promises were made by our Lord Jesus Christ to those who are devoted to his sacred heart:

1). I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life. 2). I will give peace in their families. 3). I will console them in all their troubles. 4). Hey shall find in my heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of death. 5). I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings. 6). Sinners shall find in my heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. 7). Tepid souls shall become fervent. 8). Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection. 9). I will bless the homes in which the image of my sacred heart shall be exposed and honored. 10). I will give to priests the power to touch the most hardened hearts. 11). Those who propagate this devotion shall have their name written in my heart, and it shall never be effaced. 12) The all-powerful love of my heart will grant to all those who shall receive communion on the first Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; my heart shall be their assured refuge at the last hour.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus consists in attending Holy Mass and receiving Holy Communion in reparation for those who do not receive Our Lord, who do not love Him and who wound Him by their sinful lives. The Feast of the Sacred Heart has been in the Roman Catholic liturgical calendar since 1856, and is celebrated on the 19th day after Pentecost. As Pentecost is always celebrated on Sunday, the Feast of the Sacred Heart always falls on a Friday. Besides, First Fridays of the month is also set aside for special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Child of God, you don’t necessarily have to go through all the rigorous devotions to the Sacred Heart for you to be devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. A journey of many miles begins with a step. You can start with the invocation of the Sacred Heart as revealed to Mary: “O Heart of love, I put all my trust in Thee; for I fear all things from my own weakness, but I hope for all things from Thy Goodness.”

You can as well start with a short ejaculatory prayer, such as: “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – Have mercy on us!” Immaculate Heart of Mary – Pray for us! The more you say this prayer in your heart the more your heart is purified and transformed into the temple of God. Repeat this prayer wherever you find yourself. Say it when you are in examination hall. Say it while you are cooking, or when you are walking along the way and even when you are driving or travelling. As you are about to sleep let this prayer be on your lips. If you form the habit of saying this prayer, you will never experience bad dreams again. You will start experiencing inner peace. Your heart will be filled with love and joy. You will never be separated from the presence of God. You will succeed in all your endeavors and it shall be well with you, in Jesus name – Amen!

Pope Francis Imparts Apostolic Blessing to
Fifth Annual Global Rosary Relay For Priests
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

USA – Ireland: 85 Shrines located in 46 different nations will be participating during this fifth consecutive year of the Global Rosary Relay for Priests. The intention of the relay is a thanksgiving to God for our priests and to implore the protection and loving care of Our Lady, for all her priestly sons, by dedicating a 24 hour period of continuous prayer for the ministry of the priesthood.

As the final network preparation for the Fifth Annual Global Rosary Relay for Priests is underway, his holiness Pope Francis imparted his apostolic blessing for this global  mega event to be held on 27 June, the feast of the Sacred Heart and World Priest Day.
In his message to the organizers, the Holy Father willingly imparts his Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of grace and peace, to all priests and those joining this event, and commends them to the loving intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary. He has assured all those who are taking part in the event of his spiritual closeness. He also added that he will be praying to our Blessed Mother to always guide and protect priests who are consecrated to the joyful and indispensable mission of proclaiming the Gospel and offering God's people, through the celebration of the sacraments, the closeness, the word and the strength of Christ (cf. Evangelii  Gaudium,121).

Marion  Mulhall, founder & CEO of WorldPriest, says, “It's a great gift of much joy that his holiness Pope Francis has endorsed this special event, through his apostolic blessing. His predecessor, Pope emeritus Benedict XVI had also written a special prayer for this very occasion during his papacy.” She added, “It is wonderful to see the growth for this year. We began just five years ago with 24 shrines in 20 countries and now we have grown to 85 shrines in 46 countries.”

The Annual Global Rosary Relay was created and orchestrated by Marion  Mulhall in June 2010.  Worldpriest is a non-profit Catholic apostolate based in New York, USA & Dublin, Ireland. The entire concept of this relay is that at pre-determined different time slots of the day, a rosary will be prayed at each of the 85 participating shrines. The event begins at midnight on 27th June in Siberia.
“Pray the Rosary, unite with your Country and help encircle the world in prayer’’.

Prayer for Pope Francis

O God, shepherd and ruler of all the faithful,
look favorably on your servant Francis,
whom you have set at the head of your Church as her shepherd;

Grant, we pray, that by word and example
he may be of service to those over whom he presides
so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care,
he may come to everlasting life.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

Mary TV Daily Reflection 6/27/2014 - The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Two Hearts

The Immaculate Heart of Mary and
the Sacred Heart of Jesus

J.M.J
June 27, 2014
The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus

Dear Family of Mary!

There is a beautiful message that Our Lady gave us in 1988 that I want to share today on The Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In this message Our Lady shares her heart with us. And her heart is full of the desire for us to draw close, to draw close to her and to her Son, Jesus. This message says so much. Let us meditate upon it today with gratitude and security.

"Dear children! My invitation that you live the messages which I am giving you is a daily one, specially, little children, because I want to draw you closer to the Heart of Jesus. Therefore, little children, I am inviting you today to the prayer of consecration to Jesus, my dear Son, so that each of you may be His. And then I am inviting you to the consecration of my Immaculate Heart. I want you to consecrate yourselves as parents, as families and as parishioners so that all belong to God through my heart. Therefore, little children, pray that you comprehend the greatness of this message which I am giving you. I do not want anything for myself, rather all for the salvation of your soul. Satan is strong and therefore, you, little children, by constant prayer, press tightly against my motherly heart. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 1988)

Let's renew our consecration to the Sacred Heart today. Here is the prayer dictated to Jelena by Our Lady:

Consecration to the Heart of Jesus
(Given by Our Lady to Jelena Vasilj, 11/28/1983)

O Jesus, we know that You are sweet (Mt. 11:29).
That you have given Your heart for us.
It was crowned with thorns by our sins.
We know that today You still pray for us
so that we will not be lost.
Jesus, remember us if we fall into sin.
Through Your most Sacred Heart,
make us all love one another.
Cause hatred to disappear among men.
Show us Your love.
All of us love You.
And we desire that you protect us with Your
Heart of the Good Shepherd.
Enter into each heart, Jesus!
Knock on the door of our hearts.
Be patient and tenacious with us.
We are still locked up in ourselves, because we
have not understood Your will.
Knock continuously, Oh Jesus.
Make our hearts open up to you,
at least in reminding us of the passion
which you suffered for us. Amen

And since tomorrow is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (and I usually take Saturday off), here is the consecration prayer to the Immaculate Heart that Our Lady gave to Jelena as well:

Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
(Given by Our Lady to Jelena Vasilj, 11/28/1983)

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, overflowing
with goodness, Show us your love for us.
May the flame of your heart, Oh Mary,
Descend upon all peoples.
We love you immensely.
Impress in our hearts a true love.
May our hearts yearn for you.
Oh Mary, sweet and humble of heart,
Remember us when we sin.
You know that all mankind are sinners.
Through your most sacred and maternal heart,
Cure us from every spiritual illness.
Make us capable of looking at the beauty of your maternal heart,
And that, thus, we may be converted
to the flame of your heart. Amen

Let's press tightly against Our Lady's motherly heart, as she suggests and she will lead us to Jesus.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Megiddo: A New Archaeological Find and True Christian Identity

June 26, 2014

By Bishop Arthur Serratelli *

One of the ancient world’s most important cities was Megiddo, dating from at least the 5th century B.C. Its location on a hill overlooking the Valley of Jezreel in modern day Israel gave it strategic importance in history. In former days, it controlled the passage between two military and trade routes. One connected Egypt to the lands of modern day Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria. The other connected Jerusalem to modern day Lebanon that opened the way by sea, in ancient times, to Italy and Spain.
Throughout history, battles were fought and blood shed for control of Megiddo. In fact, the New Testament speaks of Megiddo as the place of the final battle at the end of the world (Rev 16:16). The name “Armageddon” simply means Har Megiddo or the hill of Megiddo. Today, ancient Megiddo is a peaceful archaeological site.
However, a recent discovery is now disturbing the dust that has settled on this site. Nearby there is a prison. In 2005, Israeli authorities wanted to replace a tent encampment for prisoners with detention cells. Since the area is so important for archaeological finds, the Antiquities Authority required that a salvage dig be carried out before any new building took place. In the course of that dig, two prisoners came across an amazing find. They unearthed the remnants of a 3rd century A.D. church. This church easily ranks as one of the oldest in Christendom.
In the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D., there was a large camp of Roman soldiers near Megiddo. In those days, Roman soldiers came in contact with religions from all parts of the world. The Roman army was a fertile field for new converts. Undoubtedly, in this period before Christianity had become a legal religion, the army, located at Megiddo, numbered some newly converted Christian soldiers among its ranks. The recently discovered church was actually part of a larger building complex that included living quarters for Roman officers, ritual baths, and a bakery.
A most significant find in this dig is a 580-square-foot mosaic with the image of a fish, one of the earliest Christian symbols. The mosaic bears the Greek inscription that reads “The god-loving Akeptous has offered the table to God Jesus Christ as a memorial.” This mosaic is important for two reasons.
First, not only is its inscription the earliest anywhere mentioning Jesus Christ, but, more amazingly it refers to Jesus as God. In The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown had made the claim that Jesus was merely a moral teacher. He asserted that only later, at the famous 4th century Council of Nicaea, did Jesus’ followers, at the instigation of the Roman emperor Constantine, elevate Jesus to the status of divinity. Clearly, this inscription shows that Christians were already confessing Jesus as divine a century before that council. The divinity of Jesus is the very foundation of the Christian faith.

The Last Supper, by Bouveret, 19th century.
The Last Supper, by Bouveret, 19th century. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Second, the inscription mentions a table donated for the gathering of Christians in this church. When Constantine legalized Christianity in the 4th century A.D., public church buildings were constructed and the Eucharist was celebrated at an altar. The altar made clear that the Eucharist was a true sacrifice. But, before this, the first Christians gathered at table to celebrate what Jesus had done at the Last Supper. In fact, 1 Cor 11:23-34, which actually predates the writing of the gospels, gives witness to this gathering of Christians at table to celebrate the Eucharist. Now, for the first time, we have objective archaeological evidence of this at Megiddo.
Thus, both the literary evidence of the New Testament and modern archaeology confirm that Christians have come together for the Eucharist from the very beginning of the Church. This is profoundly significant. Being a Christian has always meant more than just one’s own personal belief and devotion. To be Christian means to be part of the Church gathered together for the Eucharist.
Pope Francis has clearly enunciated this basic truth of faith. At a time when many deem religion to be a private matter and do not see Sunday Mass as important, the Holy Father has recalled us back to the basics. Being a Christian and gathering with other Christians for the Eucharist cannot be separated. “A Christian is not a monad, off somewhere alone. No, he belongs to a people, to the ChurchA Christian without the Church is not a reality… A Christian without the Church is incomprehensible: It is a thing of the laboratory, an artificial thing, a thing that cannot give lifeThe Christian is always a woman, a man of the Eucharist” (Pope Francis, May 15, 2014 homily at Mass at Domus Sanctae Marthae).

Taking the Devil Seriously

Tribulation Times
June 26, 2014

(Eph 6:11-13) Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. Therefore, take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day and to stand in all things perfect.

POPE FRANCIS: “God has called us to know him and to love him precisely by loving our brothers and sisters, by persevering in the fellowship of the Church and by seeking in all things to grow in faith and holiness as members of the one body of Christ.”

AINA NEWS: Christians and Other Non-Muslims of the Middle East Face Extinction

EDITORIAL: Politics As Usual, Or Spiritual Warfare?

Well-meaning statesmen and politicians strive mightily for political solutions such as an Israel-Palestine accord – or moving the Muslim Brotherhood to “democracy.” They are living in a fool’s paradise. Islam’s hatred of the USA and Israel is not political; it’s spiritual at its very core. Political solutions have yet to work; but like insanity, we keep doing the same thing over again.

The West has strangely dug itself into a deep hole by denying Christianity, creating an enormous spiritual vacuum. It denies what created its beauty and prosperity. Russia is trying to sort out its renaissance – choosing between her once lost beauty or power unleashed. China has found itself the largest beneficiary of American companies selling out their own customers by removing their opportunities to learn, innovate, work, earn, and buy – trading “Yankee ingenuity” for a “Yangtze ingenuity” that is devoid of human or environmental stewardship (or compassion.) Now politicians talk about “creating jobs!”

While the West plays politics against the powers of evil within and without, its spiritual vacuum is being filled with two competing (yet complicit) forces. One is Islam, its rules of law an absolute counter to history’s freest economic/human accomplishment system. Islam only evangelizes by the edge of the scimitar, the bomb vested jihadist who seeks an eternal reward, and a highly developed spiritual malady of lying. Its masses wallow in poverty and fear, while the rulers live grand lifestyles.

The other is “Eugenic progressivism,” which has no care or concern for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. Its extremes look to a world population reduced to 500 million, human experimentation in the lab, and new ways to eliminate the unwanted. The current scandals at the Veterans Administration hospitals are not just poor administration, but part of the intended spiritual corruption of our health care system to achieve eugenic goals with a minimum of resistance.

Our only hope is to regain the spiritual roots so beautifully given us in the US Declaration of Independence, coupled with the Ethics of her Constitution and the protective Logic of her Bill of Rights. With one exception, adherents of nearly all the world’s races and religions have found a safe home in the United States with its predominantly Christian foundations. America is far from perfect, but nowhere on earth can freedom and liberty be found on such a broad human scale.

The war against these foundations has been waged for over 100 years by “eugenic progressivism” and its money manipulators. In recent years, the war has been joined by Islamic radicals with their jihad against all they see as infidels – including competing Islamic sects, but especially “The Great Satan” of individual liberty and Israel. They compete to dominate a one world government – fascist/communist or supreme caliphate. Neither bodes well for the human race.

If complete lack of respect for human life and the hope of eternal reward for murdering innocents isn't spiritual warfare, please explain what political strategy will drive out the demons of the culture of death? Just ask your local jihadist or eugenicist. They can both be found crawling around the halls of government, wearing suits and ties and living grand lifestyles. These are the very halls where freedom must ring.

REVIEW: Taking the Devil Seriously

FATHER LONGENECKER: The way to counter this? Don’t compromise now and you won’t compromise then. Stay faithful now in all the little things so you will one day be faithful in a great thing. Stay loyal, true, bold. Stay honest and informed, sympathetic and alert. Live the life of faith now with joy, zeal, courage and love.  Then if a test comes you will pass the great test because you have passed all the little tests building up to it.
