According
to Catholic News Agency (CNA), on April 18, 2015, Nigerian Bishop
Oliver Dashe Doerne, Bishop of Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria,
claimed that he had a vision of Christ making him understand that the
Rosary was the key to freeing his country from the Boko Haram sect.
The
bishop told CNA: "Towards the end of last year, I was in my chapel
before the Blessed Sacrament. I was reciting the Rosary when suddenly,
the Lord appeared to me. At first, Jesus said nothing, but handed me a
sword. I took it and it immediately turned into a Rosary." The bishop
added that Christ repeated three times, "Boko Haram is gone."
In 2009,
the Diocese of Maiduguri had about 125,000 Catholics. Today, there are
only 50 to 60 000 left. Many were killed by the infernal sect.
"Those
terrorists think that by burning our churches they will destroy
Christianity. But it will never happen," Bishop Dashe said. "It may take
a few years, but in the end, we will be able to say that Boko Haram is
gone. It is prayer, especially the Rosary, which will free us from the
wicked clutches of that demon of terrorism."
