This act of devotion, which We recommend, will be a blessing to all... There is in the Sacred Heart a symbol and a sensible image of the infinite love of Jesus Christ which moves us to love one another.” Sister Lucia, visionary of Our Lady of Fatima, asked Jesus why the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was necessary. Our Lord replied: "Because I want my whole Church to acknowledge that consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it would spread and place the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of My Mother beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart."
