The Marian mystery is the "nexus mysteriorum," the inner link of the other mysteries as they face each other in their unity. It is the link between Israel and the Church, and between the Old and the New Testament…
In this sense Mary is indeed "victorious over all heresies," the Scepter of Orthodoxy, by her pure faith which is that of the Church pure from all contamination.
The Marian element is the principle of incarnation and adaptation of theology. It protects it from being dry or sentimental, by uniting in the Church—who a perfect adorer like Mary (the Church does not praise Christ without joining her voice to Mary’s)—theological rationality and faithful affectivity.
The Marian element brings us back to the concrete face of God, to his manifestation in his relationship with humanity... It is impossible to detach Christ from his mother, or Christ and his Church, without the risk of turning him into an abstract ball of fire…
The mysteries of the Church and Mary certify the significance of the Incarnation. They testify to God’s plan, which is to associate the creature with his work of salvation, so that with the help of his grace that makes freedom possible, man can cooperate with grace.
