St. Andrew, Apostle
Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! In this time of grace, I call you to prayer. Pray and seek peace, little children. He who came here on earth to give you His peace, regardless of who you are and what you are - He, my Son, your Brother - through me is calling you to conversion, because without God you do not have a future or eternal life. Therefore, believe and pray and live in grace and the expectation of your personal meeting with Him. Thank you for having responded to my call." (November 25, 2017)
This is the feast of St. Andrew, Apostle! St. Andrew heard Jesus' call, along with his brother Simon, at the very beginnings of Jesus' public ministry. St. Andrew answered that call with his whole life, with total abandon. He also brought many others to Jesus, so that they could hear Jesus' call in their life.
Jesus is calling us through Our Lady, calling us to conversion, calling us to pray, calling us to know that without Him we have no future or eternal life. Jesus is calling us just as He called Andrew. This should make us very joyful. Jesus is calling us, now, in this day. It is not a story, an idea, a hopeful thought. No, it is the real Jesus who is calling us through His real Mother!
I want to quote something that St. Faustina wrote about Jesus and His real presence and call in her day, His saving activity in her time. She seemed to understand this same reality, that it is the real Jesus who is calling her and working for her salvation and the salvation of the whole world.
O inconceivable goodness of God, which shields us at every step, may Your mercy be praised without cease. That You became a brother to humans, not to angels, is a miracle of the unfathomable mystery of Your mercy. All our trust is in You, our first-born Brother, Jesus Christ, true God and true Man. My heart flutters with joy to see how good God is to us wretched and ungrateful people. And as a proof of His love, He gives us the incomprehensible gift of Himself in the person of His Son. Throughout all eternity we shall never exhaust that mystery of love. O mankind, why do you think so little about God being truly among us? O Lamb of God, I do not know what to admire in You first: Your gentleness, Your hidden life, the emptying of Yourself for the sake of man, or the constant miracle of Your mercy, which transforms souls and raises them up to eternal life. Although You are hidden in this way, Your omnipotence is more manifest here than in the creation of man. Though the omnipotence of Your mercy is at work in the justification of the sinner, yet Your action is gentle and hidden. (Diary, 1584)
"All of our trust is in You, our first born Brother, Jesus Christ, true God and true Man!!"
"O mankind, why do you think so little about God being truly among us?"
"O Lamb of God, I do not know what to admire in You first: Your gentleness, Your hidden life, the emptying of Yourself for the sake of man, or the constant miracle of Your mercy, which transforms souls and raises them up to eternal life."
St. Faustina lived in the reality of Jesus' presence and His call. We do too, even if we don't perceive it all the time. But through prayer, we can!
