From Opus Bono Sacerdotii : Father Peter in Prison

Opus Bono Sacerdotii Work for the Good of the Priesthood
Deacon

The picture above was hand drawn by Father Peter, who is one of the many Catholic priests Opus Bono cares for in prison. It is a thank you card, signed by 42 prisoners who have benefited from Father’s love, encouragement and spiritual guidance. Even in the “monastery of the prison cell”, incarcerated Catholic priests continue their ministerial priesthood to the poor and outcast, like themselves. At Father’s request, Opus Bono provided missals for all the prisoners engaged in Father’s weekly service as a prisoner to his brother prisoners.

“For I was in prison, and you visited me.” (Matt 25:37)

What better way to answer Jesus’ call to visit Him in prison, then by helping His Alter Christus’ incarcerated in the prisons of our world? When you become a Partner In Mission with Opus Bono Sacerdotii, you receive the same exact benefit of a Corporal Act of Mercy whenever we care for a priest in prison. You fulfill Jesus’ call to visit Him in prison! It is because we represent you when we care for priests in prison and, in fact, it is because of you that we are able to do it.

Pope Francis wrote to one of our priests in prison when he was Cardinal in Argentina.

Spiritual Gems-You are Really God's Little Child- June 29, 2013

You are Really God's Little Child

My poor child, how short this life on earth is!  It is always an unfinished symphony.  Do you realize your home is elsewhere?  Why do you continue to cling to the things of the earth?  The other life is tomorrow.  Are you not longing to see Me?  To know Me better?  Ask Me for this desire.  I can give you everything you lack.  You don't ask.  Above all do not be afraid of wearying Me or annoying Me.  You are my little child.  Nothing that concerns you ever tires Me....Don't be afraid then.  Just ask.  Yearn for Me and thank Love.  Call yourself: God's little child...it will give you a new feeling.

Mary TV Daily Reflection 6/28/2013

Our Lady in the rain       (c)Mary TV 2013.

J.M.J.
June 28, 2013
St. Irenaeus

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! With joy in the heart I love you all and call you to draw closer to my Immaculate Heart so I can draw you still closer to my Son Jesus, and that He can give you His peace and love, which are nourishment for each one of you. Open yourselves, little children, to prayer - open yourselves to my love. I am your mother and cannot leave you alone in wandering and sin. You are called, little children, to be my children, my beloved children, so I can present you all to my Son. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2013)

"You are called, little children, to be my children, my beloved children, so I can present you all to my Son."

I want to share the transcription of a testimony from the "Fruit of Medjugorje" Episode 73, for June 24, 2013. You can watch it at www.marytv.tv . This testimony is short, but illustrates perfectly what Our Lady expresses in this message of June 25, 2013. It is the testimony of Augusto from Italy:

Augusto
Augusto on "Fruit of Medugorje" Episode 74!!

My name is Augusto. I come from Italy. I will try to share my simple experience that changed my life. "Try" because of my English. And second, because certain things you cannot translate...certain things that happen inside you cannot translate into words, at least I can't.

So the story starts a few years ago, actually five years ago...one night, as my wife said, we were looking at a program about Medjugorje. I didn't know anything about it. Actually at that time I didn't have a deep connection with Mary. With Jesus and God, yes, but with Mary it was not so strong. So seeing this [program on Medjugorje on the TV] I felt immediately, "I have to go. We have to go." It was stronger than me.

So we came on an airplane, with a pilgrimage. And the first day was a rainy day, but I decided to go on Podbrdo. And when the rain became stronger everybody left. So I was there alone. The only two there were Mary and me! And with this rain, I felt like clean...clean...from all my doubts, all my sins. I felt blessed. And from that point on, I could not do anything else. I was just saying "yes." I had not merit. It was just grace.

Now I have to come. [Just like] every day I have to go to Mass. Some things have changed totally in my life. I am more open to others. And Mary is the Mother now. She guides me. Normally I used to pray, and relate deeply with the Boss. Not so much with Mary. And this has changed totally. Now I am praying every day to her, and I know that she is my Mother. And it is a very incredible feeling, this.

It is difficult to express, but it is stronger than me. Also now, we come, though not with a pilgrimage group, for five days. But I have to come. It is simply like this. And the whole time is a blessing. And the amazing thing is that every time that I have a stronger connection with her it is when I am on Podbrdo and it is raining! Even today it is like a kind of blessing.

So I feel that Mary called me because otherwise I would not be here, for sure. And I will always be devoted to her, because she brings me to God. I have understood that this is the channel. Before, I didn't know this. Or at least I didn't experience it.

So to the people who may be listening to this funny English I would just recommend that you pray and recommend that you give it a chance. Give a chance to Mary to take all of you into her arms and bring you to God, because this is the way to do this. Thank you.

Thank you, Augusto, for sharing so deeply from your heart what Our Lady has done for you.

Our Lady called Augusto to come to Medjugorje. The call came through a TV program! But it was straight from Our Lady. And he tells us that this call was stronger than he was!! He was drawn to her inextricably. (If you watch episode 74, Augusto's wife had the same call!) And when Augusto arrived in Medjugorje, he immediately went to Apparition Hill (Podbrdo). It was there that he experienced Our Lady, alone in the rain. It was there that he understood that he was her child, her beloved child, and that she would present him to Jesus. And all that Augusto could say was "yes." It was all grace!!

I love Augusto's parting advice: "Give a chance to Mary to take all of you into her arms and bring you to God, because this is the way to do this." St. Louis de Montfort could not say it better. Our Lady longs to take us in her arms and bring us to God! We only need to say yes when she calls!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

WINGS - EWTN e-newsletter - "Women of Grace:" A Vocation Given by God

"Women of Grace:"
A Vocation Given by God
By: Francis Dolores
The media is always talking about "women's rights," but they rarely say anything about what it really means to be a modern day woman. Truly, it seems as if the only time the female sex is even brought up is when the discussion revolves around sex-selective issues. That leaves many women wondering if society thinks there really is nothing special about women outside of their opinions on birth control!

But as Catholic women know, there is definitely more to a woman than this - and Author and EWTN Host Johnnette Benkovic endeavors to help women discover all that they are! This week, Johnnette is very busy in EWTN's Studio filming a new season of an EWTN favorite, "Women of Grace," which currently airs Weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 11:30 p.m. ET.

The topics may be new, but the show's message remains the same: to advocate "a culture imbued with the spirit of the Gospel renewed, revitalized, and healed through the love of God." This mission is based on statements made in the Second Vatican Council's closing remarks, which encouraged women to embrace their... Read More
