Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! I am calling you to be prayer in this time of grace. You all have problems, afflictions, sufferings and lack of peace. May saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness; God will be near you and you will be renewed in seeking through your personal conversion. Faith will be hope to you and joy will begin to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2017)

Tonight in many of our communities children will participate in the celebration of Halloween.  It is a secular tradition, in which costumes are used to portray all sorts of scary and eerie characters.  The object of the evening parade is to get candy from your neighbors.  But I, for one, remember having bad dreams about Halloween for many years as a child.  It was not a great experience for me.

That is why I want to share a video with you about a tradition that was started by a community in England, Cor et Lumen Christi.  This community has found a beautiful way to change the eerie tradition of Halloween into a beautiful Night of Light and fun.

Here is the video!  Enjoy!

We are called to the Light!!  Let the saints be models to us and an encouragement to holiness and to fun!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I am calling you to be prayer in this time of grace. You all have problems, afflictions, sufferings and lack of peace. May saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness; God will be near you and you will be renewed in seeking through your personal conversion. "May the Saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness..."

I am amazed at how helpful the saints can be. During our Daily Rosary, we have been receiving a saint each day, as a way to stay connected with heaven. We have a little box full of slips of paper, each with the name of a saint on it, and a little quote or description of the saint as well. It seems that the Lord sends us our daily saint very much with a purpose in mind.

For instance, on Saturday, October 28, we receive this saint:

St. John N Neumann, Bishop of Philadelphia - January 5
"Everyone who breathes, high and low, educated and ignorant, young and old, man and woman, has a mission, has a work. We are not sent into this world for nothing; we are not born at random; God creates every soul for a purpose. He needs, He deigns to need, every one of us. We are all equal in His sight, and we are placed in our different ranks and stations, not to get what we can out of them for ourselves, but to labor in them for Him. As Christ has His work, we too have ours; as He rejoiced to do His work, we must rejoice in ours also."
Pray to understand God's plan for your life.

I felt that this saint, and his words about each person being needed, were very important for me on Saturday. And the idea of each of us having a mission was just so powerful. It helped me to pray much more from that heart that day.

This is the grace of the saints. They encourage us. They teach us the way. They show us a little bit more about God each day!

So, as we approach All Saint's Day on Wednesday, let's renew our love for the saints and let them guide us! Mary TV has a small list of saints in PDF form on our website, and it is prepared as an aid for choosing saints for the year. Many people choose a saint for each year, and it can be done on All Saints Day, or on New Year's Day. Whenever you feel led to choose a saint for the year. Just download the PDF and print it out. You can cut up the pages, set up in little squares, so that each saint can be chosen from the group during prayer.

Our shipmates, Ginna and David have updated our list. It will be posted soon, so you can get even more saints into the boat!

Here is the link:

May we allow the saints to teach us, lead us, and pray for us as we try to live the mission that each of us has been given by God. We are all very important to Him!

Mary TV: October 27, 2017 Reflection -Be Prayer!

I received a question from Josephine about this message. "I wonder what it means ... 'be prayer'?"

This is a very good question. Our Lady has said it to us several times. My first response was, "I wonder if it means that we begin to pray so very much, from our heart, all the time, that prayer becomes the basis of who we are. "

This would mean that prayer becomes part of the definition of who I am. I am someone who is constantly oriented towards God. My whole being is seeking God. My every thought is somehow referenced to God and His will, His love, His being. I am focused on God. And finally, I love God with my whole heart, my whole soul, my whole mind and my whole strength.

Our Lady said it this way on August 25, 2015:
"Dear children! Also today I am calling you to be prayer. May prayer be for you the wings for an encounter with God. The world is in a moment of trial, because it forgot and abandoned God. Therefore, you, little children, be those who seek and love God above all. I am with you and I am leading you to my Son, but you must say your 'yes' in the freedom of children of God. I intercede for you and I love you, little children, with an endless love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2015)

At this moment of trial for the whole world, we must "be those who seek and love God above all." That is being prayer. May we respond to Our Lady's call and help her to pull the world back from the brink of disaster, back into the arms of her Son.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 25, 2017 Reflection - Let's prepare for the message today.

 (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

October 25, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I am calling you to be generous in renunciation, fasting and prayer for all those who are in temptation, and are your brothers and sisters. In a special way I am imploring you to pray for priests and for all the consecrated, that they may love Jesus still more fervently; that the Holy Spirit may fill their hearts with joy; that they may witness Heaven and Heavenly mysteries. Many souls are in sin, because there are not those who sacrifice themselves and pray for their conversion. I am with you and am praying that your hearts may be filled with joy. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 2017)

Today we hope to receive another message from Our Lady. I like to review the previous message in preparation, and this message is still so amazing to me!
Our Lady asks us to be generous. She asks us to give our renunciation, fasting and prayer for the sake of others! It is hard enough to fast for your own sins, to pray for your own needs and desires. But to fast, pray and practice renunciation for our brothers and sisters who are in temptation? Well, it means we have to set ourselves aside, just forget about ourselves, and care about others.

But when she says that many souls are in sin, because there are not those who sacrifice themselves and pray for their conversion, it breaks my heart. We really are a family. Our brothers and sisters depend on our prayer. They don't know it, but they do. And we need to look after them if we can, through our prayer, fasting and renunciation.

It's a mystery of love, God's economy of love. What a mystery it is!! Just look at Jesus on the Cross. He did it for all of us. Our big brother did it first.

Thanks for responding to Our Lady's call.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 24, 2017 Reflection - Prayer for Peace in Vienna!

Vienna
Ivan and Marija greet Our Lady at St. Stephen's Cathedral
at a previous Evening of Prayer.

J.M.J.
October 24, 2017
St. Anthony Mary Claret

Dear Family of Mary!

September 25, 2002 "Dear children! Also in this peaceless time, I call you to prayer. Little children, pray for peace so that in the world every person would feel love towards peace. Only when the soul finds peace in God, it feels content and love will begin to flow in the world. And in a special way, little children, you are called to live and witness peace - peace in your hearts and families - and, through you, peace will also begin to flow in the world. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Today a very special prayer event is taking place in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. There will be testimonies, the prayer of the Rosary, Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, all in response to Our Lady's call from Medjugorje to pray for peace. Here is a description of the event and the speakers:

The 10th Prayer for Peace in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral

Since 2008, and under the patronage of Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, the "Message for you" - Prayer for Peace in Vienna's St. Stephen's Cathedral has taken place once each year. This year, too, our Cardinal will join together with thousands of people in the cathedral to pray for peace and to celebrate the Holy Mass.

At the beginning of August 2017, Cardinal Schönborn, who himself spent New Year's Eve (2009/2010) in Medjugorje, wrote a message to the thousands of young people who had gathered from all over the world at the Marian pilgrimage site in Herzegovina. There they had come together for a youth prayer meeting and the address the Cardinal wrote for them was translated into many languages:
Dear young friends,

Once more you have come to Medjugorje in such great numbers. No one commanded you to travel here in the heat of summer. You do it because it is a matter close to your heart. Otherwise, you would have not have taken this effort upon yourself! What moves you to travel to Medjugorje? It is not something fashionable, a trend, a fleeting excitement. It is a special closeness, it is the closeness of the Gospa, which draws you here. ...

With great joy, we look forward to having Ernest Cardinal Simoni at this year's prayer for peace on October 24th. Cardinal Simoni came to give Pope Francis's blessing to the thousands of young people who gathered in Medjugorje from sixty-nine countries at the beginning of August. His Eminence was ordained to the priesthood in 1956 in Albania, was imprisoned by the atheistic persecution of the Church in 1963, and in the following eighteen years was twice condemned to death. After he was released in 1981, he worked as a canal worker and exercised his priestly ministry in secret. When the communist regime collapsed in 1990, he was allowed for the first time officially to take up his priestly ministry.

During the apostolic pilgrimage of Pope Francis to Albania in 2014, then Fr. Simoni had the chance to meet the Pope. After the Pope heard his testimony, he embraced him with the words: you are my saint! On November 19th, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him to the College of Cardinals.

The visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti will participate in the prayer for peace this year as a special guest from Medjugorje. Marija attests to seeing the Mother of God daily since June 25th, 1981. Since March, 1984, Marija regularly brings messages for the parish of Medjugorje and the whole world, every Thursday at the beginning and since January of 1987 on every 25th of the month. The content of the messages is an invitation and at the same time an introduction to the spiritual life.

Fr. Marinko Sakota, O.F.M., studied theology in Sarajevo, Zagreb, and Fulda, and since 2010 fulfills the role of spiritual director in Medjugorje. Beginning in 2013, he was made pastor of the pilgrimage site and has up to this point implemented countless measures to deepen the spiritual life there.

At the prayer for peace, Fr. Marinko will give us an insight into his responsibilities and his encounter with Archbishop Henryk Hoser of Warsaw-Prague, whom Pope Francis commissioned as delegate for pastoral care at the pilgrimage site.

The Swiss artist Hubert Theler has visited Medjugorje on a regular basis since 2003. In numerous photographs, he has captured the stones on Cross Mountain and Apparition Mountain, and his conviction grows ever deeper that here a transformation in the hearts of men is taking place, in the sense that Fr. Jozo Zovko once expressed: The Mother of God takes our heart of stone and lays it on the Podbrdo, and gives us a new heart. Thus, a new man comes down from the mountain. The fascination with the stones of the two mountains is captured in his book, Living Stones of Medjugorje, which was presented in January of this year in the parish of Medjugorje.

Through the events in Medjugorje, great humanitarian works have been inspired in the past several years. Mary's Meals, an initiative addressing hunger and nutrition and placed under the protection of the Mother of God, today feeds over 1.2 million children on every school day in fourteen of the poorest countries of the world. Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow, who first visited Medjugorje as a fourteen-year old and then founded Mary's Meals as a young adult, will report on the efforts of this initiative in several countries of east Africa, which are particularly afflicted with drought and civil war.

This year the Cenacolo Community celebrates the twenty-year anniversary of its establishment in Austria. At the prayer for peace, the boys of the community will, as in past years, put forward a joyful sign of their gratitude concerning life gifted to them anew.

Because Mary TV will live-stream this wonderful event, our schedule will change. There will be no Hour of Mercy today, to make way for the Daily Rosary which will be live at 3:00 pm Medjugorje time. The Vienna prayer event will begin at 4:00 pm Medjugorje time on our channel. Here is the broad outline of the program from Vienna:

Schedule of Events:

4:00 pm- Songs and reports, testimonies and prayer

6:00 pm- Rosary

7:00 pm- Holy Mass with Dr. Christoph Cardinal Schönborn - Followed by Eucharistic adoration and praise and worship

I hope you can join us at www.marytv.tv  for this evening of prayer for peace from Vienna!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

PS. Marija's daily apparition will probably take place during the Rosary from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Our Lady will bless us all during that time!!

Mary TV: October 20, 2017 - October 23, 2017 Reflection - Signs

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
October 23, 2017
St. John of Capistrano

Dear Family of Mary!
As most of you know, Denis and I were on pilgrimage to Medjugorje for the first two weeks of October. It was a beautiful time of prayer and fellowship. On October 13, 2017 we wondered if Our Lady would show us any signs of her presence and her plan. It was the 100th anniversary of the "Dancing" Sun in Fatima! Would that amazing event happen again, this time in Medjugorje?

During the Evening Program on October 13, I noticed that the setting sun was very bright. I could not look at it. But many people were turned toward it, looking unguardedly at it. This is not unusual in Medjugorje.

Today we received an email from Beth S. - a pilgrim from our group, and an old friend. Here is what she said:

I wanted to share this photo with you. Ali, Cheryl, and I were near our Blessed Mother statue in front of the church on October 13, praying and waiting for the time of Our Lady's apparition. Just a couple of minutes before she came, Ali told me to look at the sun. I did, and we both saw the host in front of the sun with beautiful changing colors pulsating around it. (This is how it appeared to me 6 years ago when I was blessed to see it). This continued as we watched it continuously for about 15 minutes. Then, as the sun was beginning to set, the whole sun just began pulsating and I told Ali that it looked like a beating heart and she said this is what she was seeing too!

Cheryl was not able to look into the sun this time. It was too bright, but she took a picture anyway. The newer iPhone has a live photo option, which has a couple of seconds of video before it snaps the still photo.

After we got home, Cheryl clicked on this photo on her phone and it wouldn't stop repeating the motion. It won't go to the still photo but just keeps repeating so it really looks like a beating heart!!! This is what Ali and I were watching that day! It is amazing that it is captured so well in this photo!

Still praying with you every day on Mary TV! Hoping for you to feel better, Cathy and hope to see you both again soon! God Bless! Beth

The iPhone "live option" photo the Cheryl took on October 13, 2017 in Medjugorje!

What a beautiful gift Beth, Ali, and Cheryl received from Our Lady on October 13!! She was telling them, and us, that she is still with us, still active in our lives, still working out her plan for the salvation of souls.

Our Lady has spoken about signs to us many times in her messages. We need to understand the signs we are being given! They are a way for God to open our hearts to prayer and repentance. Here are three messages to ponder.

July 25, 2014 "Dear children! You are not aware of the graces that you are living at this time in which the Most High is giving you signs for you to open and convert. Return to God and to prayer, and may prayer begin to reign in your hearts, families and communities, so that the Holy Spirit may lead and inspire you to every day be more open to God's will and to His plan for each of you. I am with you and with the saints and angels intercede for you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

June 2, 2007 "Dear children! Also in this difficult time God's love sends me to you. My children, do not be afraid, I am with you. With complete trust give me your hearts, that I may help you to recognize the signs of the time in which you live. I will help you to come to know the love of my Son. I will triumph through you. Thank you."

March 18, 2006 "Dear children! In this Lenten time, I call you to interior renunciation. The way to this leads you through love, fasting, prayer and good works. Only with total interior renunciation will you recognize God's love and the signs of the time in which you live. You will be witnesses of these signs and will begin to speak about them. I desire to bring you to this. Thank you for having responded to me."

We need to pray to recognize the signs which God is sending to us, out of love. He wants us to turn completely towards Him, giving Him our open and contrite hearts, letting Him be the Lord of our lives. He wants us to then become little signs of His love in this very broken and loveless world.

As Our Lady said: "...in this difficult time God's love sends me to you." She is the biggest and most powerful sign we have been given. Let's not miss it!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Our Lady over  Mary TV's studio
(Explained on the home page of Marytv.tv - very bottom)

October 20, 2017

Dear Children of Our Lady of Medjugorje, Family of Mary TV:

This Tuesday, October 24, Mary TV will be LIVE Streaming "A Prayer for Peace" in Vienna's St. Stevens Cathedral.

Featured speakers include the Pastor of St. James Church in Medjugorje, two cardinals and Medjugorje visionary Marija Pavlovic-Lunetti.... 4:00-9:00pm Vienna Time (10:00am to 3:00pm EDT in the US). Here is the schedule:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Cathy and I just returned from the most wonderful pilgrimage with Tom and Mary Matasso and many of Mary TV's shipmates! Our whole time together was overflowing with grace!  Thank you for your prayers - and for your donations. I've got to tell you what your prayers and donations have accomplished for Our Lady!

As soon as we arrived in Medjugorje Tom and I headed to Mary TV's studio.... He was excited to show me the new technical equipment your donations made possible, right after Our Lady had told us in her message, "Be ready! This is a turning point!"

Tom told me: "Four years ago a digital TV station control room cost $1,500,000 ($US).   Today," gesturing with a sweep of his hand towards all he equipment before us, "a full blown digital TV station control room costs $35,000!"

I had asked you for $35,000 and you came through! Your donations gave this gift to Our Lady!  I wish you could have seen all the beautiful, grateful faces of people expressing gratitude for Mary TV.  Due to your generous donations Medjugorje is coming into homes throughout the world.

I could tell you many stories. I'll conclude with just one: With Mary TV's very competent technical crew in Medjugorje running things smoothly, Tom had the leisure to just sit back and do some thinking "outside the box".... (Remember, this is the guy who built the first all digital TV station in the US - TXCN of Dallas!)! With the prayer of Medjugorje going on around him (our studios are right next to the Church) he got the idea to put together from existing equipment sitting on a shelf not being used for anything, a new POV camera that would go up closer to Our Lady's statue on Apparition Hill. Discovering that Sony doesn't make a POV box big enough (no one does) Tom and Kiki went to a local plumbing store, purchased 10" drain pipe and made their own! The lens still needs fine tuning but there it is!  Take a look at the top of Mary TV's web page:

IT'S TIME TO FINISH OUR DOWNSTAIRS TV STATION! The station has been "on hold" for 14 years (we've been waiting for the money). It's time! The facility is huge....20 foot ceilings! The main film studio can hold 150 people!

FIRST: we need a $30,000 to fix a serious water leak (our studio is so deep into the ground, during the rainy season water comes into the floor).

SECOND:  $25,000 to finish the electrical, lights, spray the walls and put floors in the engineering room, control room, and the two studios.

THIRD: $15,000 for new cameras. We need 3 TV cameras at $5,000 each. (As noted in the third paragraph above, technology is getting better and cheaper - changing, I'm told, every three months! A television camera that used to cost $100,000 now costs $5,000 (and it's a much better camera now)!

FOURTH: $5,000 to put in two bathrooms....

$75,000 DOES IT ALL (the price of Mary TV's first camera)!

OUR LADY NEEDS YOU NOW! GO OUT AND FIND A DONOR!!!!!! (Donations are tax exempt)

How you can help:

"The source of grace is here, but you, dear children, are the vehicles transmitting the gifts. Therefore, dear children, I am calling you to work responsibly. Everyone will be responsible according to his own measure. Dear children, I am calling you to give the gift to others with love and not to keep it for yourselves," (May 8, 1986 message from our Mother).

"BE READY! THIS IS A TURNING POINT!" (6/2/17).

Thank you and God bless you!

Mary TV: October 20, 2017 Reflection - Worry

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
October 20, 2017
St. Paul of the Cross

Dear Family of Mary!
"...My children, do not waste time thinking about the future, worrying...." (October 2, 2017)

Caryll Houselander speaks about worry this way:

Your final question is "How not worry?"!

Well if only I had an answer to meet that, how gladly I would give it to you, and apply it to myself! But of course there is no shortcut to not worrying.

It does not necessarily imply want of trust; in fact, it may be that what God asks of you is to accept it, and not to worry about worrying!

Trust does not, of course, mean that you trust God to remove the causes of worry, though if you persevere in prayer in spite of all setbacks, he may do that; but trust really means that, however impossible it is to realize this emotionally, your will accepts as a certainty that whatever God allows to happen is, in his plan of love, what is really best for you and those whom you love.

"Surrender" to God's will does not of course mean being able to want disaster!

It does mean believing, blindly of course, that whatever happens, and whatever you feel about it, you are in his hands, and so are those you love.

The more you say, "I must not worry," the more you will: I think it better simply to offer the worrying to God...

I have the temperament which just has to face the worst possibility, and I think, when one does, one realizes that the very worst can be accepted. My way is to say in every emergency, "Now what is the worst that can happen?' and then, "So what?" That works with me. (From "The Letters of Caryll Houselander: Her Spiritual Legacy. Sheed and Ward LTD. 1965)

I love Caryll Houselander. She just says it like it is!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 19, 2017 Reflection - Open your heart to Jesus

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
October 19, 2017
Sts. John de Brebeuf, Isaac Jogues, and companions

Dear Family of Mary!

"...And my Son, who is of the eternal now, He is speaking to you with words of life and is sowing love in open hearts. Therefore, I am imploring you, apostles of my love, have open hearts always ready for mercy and forgiveness. According to my Son, always forgive your neighbors, because in that way peace will be in you..." (October 2, 2017)

The saints we celebrate today are very good examples of Our Lady's words to us. They had open hearts, filled with the words of life and love. They were ready to give mercy and forgiveness, always forgiving their neighbors and seeking the way of peace. They did not run from martyrdom but accepted ill treatment for the sake of the souls of their flock.

Fr. Isaac Jogues chose to give himself up to the Iroquois, saying, "It must be,' I said in my heart, 'that my body suffer the fire of earth in order to deliver these poor souls from the flames of hell. It must die a transient death, in order to procure for them an eternal life.'" (recorded by Fr. Jerome Lalemant, S.J.)

Only the Son could instill such love in a heart. Only Jesus can give us the courage to suffer for others, to forgive and to love with our eyes on heaven. Jesus alone can fill our hearts with such mercy.

On my long flight home from Medjugorje, I glimpsed a movie the depicted the fate of missionaries in Japan in the 1800's. They were tortured endlessly. But the movie failed to capture the presence of Jesus in the martyrs, the love and power that Jesus instills in hearts that are open to Him. It made the martyrdom merely a test of will power. On our own we cannot love, forgive or suffer for Jesus. Only Jesus' love and mercy in us can overcome such things.

Our Lady wants us to realize that we need to open our hearts to receive Jesus in them, every day, to open and receive Him. He is our only strength and love.

Mary TV: October 18, 2017 Reflection - I speak to you as a mother...

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

October 18, 2017
St. Luke

Dear Family of Mary!
Denis and I are home from Medjugorje! We are still jet-lagging, but so filled with gratitude for our time with Our Lady. It will take many days to discover all the gifts we have been given. But for sure, peace is one. We feel like babies that have just finished being fed, and are so limp and satisfied!! It is a wonderful feeling!

I thought we could revisit the October 2 message today. It takes time for Our Lady's words to sink in!! Denis and I were present when this message was received by Mirjana. I remember still the deep quiet that came over me when Our Lady appeared. It is again, that experience of peace we continue to enjoy:
Dear children,
I am speaking to you as a mother - with simple words, but words filled with much love and concern for my children who, through my Son, are entrusted to me. And my Son, who is of the eternal now, He is speaking to you with words of life and is sowing love in open hearts. Therefore, I am imploring you, apostles of my love, have open hearts always ready for mercy and forgiveness. According to my Son, always forgive your neighbors, because in that way peace will be in you.

My children, care for your soul, because it alone is what truly belongs to you. You are forgetting the importance of family. A family does not need to be a place of suffering and pain, but a place of understanding and tenderness. Families who strive to live according to my Son live in mutual love. While He was still little, my Son would say to me that all people are His brothers. Therefore, remember, apostles of my love, that all people whom you meet are family to you - brothers according to my Son.

My children, do not waste time thinking about the future, worrying.

May your only concern be how to live well every moment according to my Son. And there it is - peace for you!

My children, do not ever forget to pray for your shepherds. Pray that they can accept all people as their children; that, according to my Son, they may be spiritual fathers to them. Thank you!

Our Lady does speak to us as a mother. She is so gentle and personal with us. She points always to God the Father, to Jesus, to the Holy Spirit. She keeps us moving in the right direction, like any good mother does. Her advice is always timely and simple.

Let's let her speak to us today through her message, personally and intimately as our mother. No one is too old or grown up to need a mother! In our heart, deep down, each of us is still a child who needs mothering, and fathering for that matter! It is always good to hear Mother Mary's words and reflect on them. Ponder if you wish. We can ponder her words in our hearts and indeed they will help and heal us!

Mary TV: October 14, 2017 Reflection - A Final reflection from Medjugorje!

(c)Mary TV 2017

October 14, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

We are near the end of our pilgrimage in Medjugorje, so I want to send you one last reflection before we leave.  It has been a beautiful and fruitful time here in Our Lady's village.

Yesterday, on the 100th anniversary of the miracle of the sun in Fatima, Denis and I were able to climb Cross Mountain early in the morning.  We were blessed to be joined by Steve D., our friend from Indiana who is part of the pilgrimage group.  We left at 6:00 am in the dark to walk to the base of Cross Mountain.  It was cold and dark.  Steve was our cheerleader!!  We couldn't have done the climb without him.

Steve and Denis on the way up Krizevac

There were very few pilgrims on the mountain, so we were able to linger at the stations, and pray out loud.  It was very special to share our spontaneous meditations with each other.  Steve was really good at focusing on Our Lady in each station. We felt her very near as we climbed.

The 12th Station - Jesus dies on the Cross

The 12th station was very moving.  We noticed that the artist of the bronze relief stations had placed Our Lady at the foot of the Cross, holding Jesus' legs, much the same as the stained glass window in St. James had depicted her.  And so we recalled the Risen Christ Statute and the tears that flow from Jesus' legs. So beautiful!

Our Lady embracing Jesus' legs during His death on the cross.

We met an long time friend at the top, Gay from Malawi.  it was a great victory for all of us to climb again the mountain that brings us so close to Jesus' passion and death.  The victory at the top gave us all joy!

Beneath the Cross, Me, Gay and Denis!

We prayed for you all up there, all your intentions.  We left our troubles and fears, our sorrows and pains, our hopes and petitions there at the foot of the Cross.  Jesus will hear our prayers, there where Our Lady prays for us.

The Cross on Krisevac!  So many graces!!!

Thank you for joining us in our time here.  We ask you all to pray for one thing, that we are given permission to again have our camera on the Blue Cross streaming on our web page.  So many of us find hope and strength from the cameras on the holy sites of Medjugorje.  And the Blue Cross is very powerful.  Please pray we will be given permission to stream there again soon.

We leave Medjugorje on Monday, October 16.  I will resume reflections later next week.  Thank you for you patience.  And may you be blessed by Our Lady and her Son with every blessing!

Mary TV: October 13, 2017 Reflection - The Miracle of the Sun, 100 Years!

(c)Mary TV 2010

J.M.J
October 13, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

August 25, 1991 "Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call."

I am happy to write to you today from Medjugorje!  We are here celebrating Our Lady's presence and remembering the miracle that occurred in Fatima 100 years ago today.  We all know about the miracle of the sun that happened at Fatima.  Thousands of people gathered around the children, awaiting Our Lady's coming on that day.  And she came.  But with her came the miracle of the sun, dancing in the sky and plunging to earth.  It was spectacular.

Our Lady came to Fatima to answer the prayer of the Church for peace.  She came with a program of penance and prayer so that the world could be saved from terrible trials.  She came to remind us that God is real, and hell exists.  She called us to pray and fast, do penance for peace in the world.  She also left secrets.  The 3rd secret was kept secret for many years.  But in 1981 something happened.  Our dear Saint John Paul II was shot on May 13, 1981.

He called upon Our Lady, "Mother come, Mary come".  And she did, guiding the bullet away from his vital organs and saving his life.  The pope decided he needed to read the 3rd Secret of Fatima.  And after he did, from his hospital bed he directed the Church to pray this prayer of entrustment (on June 7, 1981):

"Mother of all individuals and peoples, you know all their sufferings and hopes. In your motherly heart you feel all the struggles between good and evil, between light and darkness, that convulse the world: accept the plea which we make in the Holy Spirit directly to your heart, and embrace with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord those who most await this embrace, and also those whose act of entrustment you too await in a particular way. Take under your motherly protection the whole human family, which with affectionate love we entrust to you, O Mother. May there dawn for everyone the time of peace and freedom, the time of truth, of justice and of hope."

You can read the whole document on the secrets of Fatima here:

It was a plea for help to Our Lady.  And I believe she answered that plea by coming to Medjugorje to the 6 visionaries on June 24, 1981, just 17 days after this entrustment was enacted.

I believe we see here in Medjugorje exactly what the Holy Father was asking Our Lady for.  In Medjugorje she has taken under her motherly protection the whole human family!  Here we are, from all corners of the earth, experiencing her motherly care.  Here she is bringing us the possibility of peace and love.  Here she is showing us the way to the Father.

On a personal note, on October 13, 1987 (the 70th anniversary of the miracle of the sun) Denis and I were here in Medjugorje.  It was my first pilgrimage, his second.  On that day we looked over the valley towards St. James Church, at evening.  And there we saw a huge, beautiful rainbow arching over the steeples of the church.  We had wondered then if some kind of sign would happen, a sign for the 70th anniversary.  And a sign did happen, the sign of peace and hope that God gave to Noah after the flood.  It was a sign that God would not punish the world again, as He had with the flood. We felt that the Lord was telling us then that He intended to bring peace to the world through Medjugorje!

So today, as we spend the day in prayer with Our Lady, thanking her for her presence and her motherly guidance, we will expect only good from our heavenly Father.

At the end of the document, there are some words from then Joseph Card. Ratzinger.  They speak the truth even today.  We will believe in Our Lady's presence as a gift from God to save us and present us to God:

And so we come to the final question: What is the meaning of the "secret" of Fatima as a whole (in its three parts)? What does it say to us? First of all we must affirm with Cardinal Sodano: "... the events to which the third part of the 'secret' of Fatima refers now seem part of the past". Insofar as individual events are described, they belong to the past. Those who expected exciting apocalyptic revelations about the end of the world or the future course of history are bound to be disappointed. Fatima does not satisfy our curiosity in this way, just as Christian faith in general cannot be reduced to an object of mere curiosity. What remains was already evident when we began our reflections on the text of the "secret": the exhortation to prayer as the path of "salvation for souls" and, likewise, the summons to penance and conversion.

I would like finally to mention another key expression of the "secret" which has become justly famous: "my Immaculate Heart will triumph". What does this mean? The Heart open to God, purified by contemplation of God, is stronger than guns and weapons of every kind. The fiat of Mary, the word of her heart, has changed the history of the world, because it brought the Saviour into the world-because, thanks to her Yes, God could become man in our world and remains so for all time. The Evil One has power in this world, as we see and experience continually; he has power because our freedom continually lets itself be led away from God. But since God himself took a human heart and has thus steered human freedom towards what is good, the freedom to choose evil no longer has the last word. From that time forth, the word that prevails is this: "In the world you will have tribulation, but take heart; I have overcome the world" (Jn 16:33). The message of Fatima invites us to trust in this promise.

We are praying for all of you today and everyday in Medjugorje!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 12, 2017 Reflection - My morning on Apparition Hill

Our Lady overlooking the valley in the morning

October 12, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!
May 2, 2008 "Dear children, By God's will I am here with you in this place. I desire that you open your hearts to me and to accept me as a mother. With my love I will teach you simplicity of life and richness of mercy and I will lead you to my Son. The way to Him can be difficult and painful but do not be afraid, I will be with you. My hands will hold you to the very end, to eternal happiness; therefore do not be afraid to open yourselves to me. Thank you. Pray for priests. My Son gave them to you as a gift."

Yesterday morning I was able to climb Apparition Hill by myself!!  I had as much time as I wanted to pray and linger at the mysteries of the Rosary.  Oh it was glorious!!  I had time to pray for all of your intentions, and for all my family, and even just spend time with Jesus and Mary.  The hill was not crowded, so I was able to pray.  Know that I left you all there with Our Lady!

In the message above, Our Lady tells us that she is here in this place with us.  It is definitely true.  She is with us in Medjugorje, to help us on our way to Jesus.  As I climbed I could feel her with me, ever so gently guiding my steps over the rocks.  I was not lonely at all.  And she led me directly to her Son, Jesus.  Because as soon as I got to her statue, I felt compelled to climb a bit further to the wooden crucifix where Jesus awaits.  Like the Risen Christ statue, this Crucifix draws us pilgrims like a magnet.  We want to embrace Jesus, to kiss Him, to leave our hearts with Him.

Hours fly by on Apparition Hill.  I left you all on that Hill with Our Lady!

When I returned to the village, I went to the Mary TV Tea House, where Rosie greets pilgrims.  And who should I see but Linda and Greg Christie!!  Linda shared her amazing healing on Apparition Hill in Fruit Show 60.  Here is the link:  http://marytv.tv/?page_id=167

Here is Denis with Greg and Linda Christie at the Mary TV Tea House!

During our conversation I thanked Linda for sharing the great story of her healing on Apparition Hill!!  It is a fantastic healing!!!  And she said no need for thanks, because she has discovered that every time she shares her healing testimony from Medjugorje, she feels a little more healed, a little more strong and healthy!  Our Lady will not be out done!!  She really is with us!

Mary TV: October 11, 2017 Reflection - The Risen Christ Statue

The Risen Christ Statue last night as the sun was setting

J.M.J
October 11, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!
Yesterday I spent some time at the Risen Christ Statue which is behind St. James in a large area set aside for prayer.  This statue is huge, made of bronze and depicts Jesus at the moment of resurrection, still in the Cruciform.  Pilgrims line up to venerate this image of Jesus, Risen from the dead.  But as you can see in this picture, the only accessible part of Jesus' body is his legs and feet from the knees down.

But there is more to this statue.  Not long after if was installed, pilgrims noticed a clear liquid flowing from the knee of Jesus' right leg.  This liquid has been flowing, drop by drop for many years now.  People collect the liquid on little napkins, on articles of clothing, or just anoint themselves with is.

As you can see, there is an urge to just lean against Jesus, to just rest on Jesus, when you are near it.  I have always felt drawn to just rest my head on Jesus' leg, like a child with his father, just embracing him around the legs!!  It just feels like that, so much peace.

Some have wondered if the liquid that flows from Jesus' knee might have a connection with something that happened during His Crucifixion.  We know that Our Lady stayed near the Cross of Christ throughout His Passion.  She could not be torn away from her Son.  In fact the artist who created the stained glass windows in St. James Church in Medjugorje, created this window depicting the Crucifixion.

Our Lady is embracing Jesus' legs, the only part of His body she could reach.  Her tears would have rolled down His legs much like the liquid is rolling down the legs of the statue.  Could this mysterious liquid by Our Lady's tears of love for her Son, shed for our sake, for our deliverance from sin and death?  It could be.

All I know is that the Risen Christ Statue draws me, calls me to come close and to hug Jesus' legs, to lean against Him, to rest on Him, to be quiet with Him, to stay a child with Him, and to love Him.  I am very grateful to the artist whose inspiration created this statue that now is blessing thousands of pilgrims in Medjugorje, one at a time.
