Mary TV: September 29, 2017 Reflection -The Archangels

  (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

September 29, 2017
Sts. Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, Archangels

Dear Family of Mary!

Today is the day that Denis and I begin our journey to Medjugorje!!  I am comforted that this is the Feast of the Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael.  May they accompany us and protect us as we travel.

Let's pray to these powerful saints on their feast:

Prayer to St. Michael to Protect the Church and her Members
O Glorious St. Michael, guardian and defender of the Church of Jesus Christ, come to the assistance of this Church, against which the powers of hell are unchained, guard with especial care her august head, and obtain that for him and for us the hour of triumph may speedily arrive. O glorious Archangel St. Michael, watch over us during life, defend us against the assaults of the demon, assist us especially at the hour of death; obtain for us a favorable judgment, and the happiness of beholding God face to face for endless ages. Amen.

Prayer to St. Gabriel the Archangel
O Blessed Archangel Gabriel, we beseech thee, do thou intercede for us at the throne of divine Mercy in our present necessities, that as you did announce to Mary the mystery of the Incarnation, so through your prayers and patronage in heaven we may obtain the benefits of the same, and sing the praise of God forever in the land of the living. Amen.

Prayer to St. Raphael the Archangel
O glorious Archangel, St. Raphael, great Prince of the heavenly court, illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace, guide of those who journey by land or sea, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners: I beg you to assist me in all my needs and in all the suffering of this life, as once you did help the young Tobias on his travels. And because you are the "Medicine of God," I humbly pray to you to heal the many infirmities of my soul, and the ills which afflict my body, it if be for my greater good. I especially ask of you an angelic purity, which may fit me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

We will be continuing our usual schedule as much as possible while we in Medjugorje.  Hour of Mercy and the Daily Rosary will be at their usual times.  My reflections may be less regular, depending on our pilgrimage schedule.  I will try to give you updates as we go along.  But I also want to take time just for prayer.  So forgive me if I don't keep up with the reflections on a daily basis.

We will be praying for all of you and your intentions.  We are a part of each other, because we are all a part of Our Lady, as she told us once:

July 02, 2014
"Dear children.... I desire for all of you to be with me in eternity, because you are a part of me. I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light - of God's light..."

We are a part of Our Lady now, as we live her messages!!
Thank you to each of you who have responded to Our Lady's call.
Together we can help Our Lady.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 28, 2017 Reflection - I wish you, the helpless ones to begin helping...

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! I am calling you to be generous in renunciation, fasting and prayer for all those who are in temptation, and are your brothers and sisters. In a special way I am imploring you to pray for priests and for all the consecrated, that they may love Jesus still more fervently; that the Holy Spirit may fill their hearts with joy; that they may witness Heaven and Heavenly mysteries. Many souls are in sin, because there are not those who sacrifice themselves and pray for their conversion. I am with you and am praying that your hearts may be filled with joy. Thank you for having responded to my call."
(September 25, 2017)

Traci sent us this most joyful response to Our Lady's message:
I wanted to write so much about this.  I love this message. BUT what do I say?
There is nothing funner then practicing renunciation out of love for Jesus. You ask me my hobbies...that is it! There are so many fun ways to do it. One time when I was praying the Rosary my bangs were tinkling my forehead...a lot. I just let them do it and kept praying. I felt like God's heart poured out like a river.
If we can just get ourselves calmed, with forgiveness, and in enough peace, then we can focus on offering even the smallest of sacrifices with joy and love, and then, well, what else is better! The joy and peace just flow into my heart and so many others are helped because I choose not to eat ice cream when I seriously want it.   Or when I was so thankful to be hungry or sick or abandoned and abused.... because our Love is a crucified Love.
It means we can give everything out of Love. The less others think of us, the less success we have, our illness, our poverty, and even every success can be glorified now. There is nothing better than loving God and He gave us the easiest way to do it. The Mother said "You helpless ones start helping!"
So let's not feel sorry for ourselves in the least. It makes us unthankful. The world tells us to feel bad when these things happen but the world doesn't know Jesus, Who gave everything for us. So everything we give to Him turns into joy. Let us rejoice in every sacrifice. Our Love is a crucified Love.

Thank you Traci! Beautiful!!

I believe that we can make a difference, through love. By loving Jesus, and sacrificing out of love for Him, hearts can be opened and lives changed. Here is the message Traci quoted from, which says so much to us:

July 4, 1985 "Dear children! I thank you for every sacrifice you have offered. And now I urge you to offer every sacrifice with love. I wish you, the helpless ones, to begin helping with confidence and the Lord will keep on giving to you in confidence. Thank you for having responded to my call."

We may be helpless, but we can help!! We can make a difference for souls. Let's do it!!

"Dear children! I am calling you to be generous in renunciation, fasting and prayer for all those who are in temptation, and are your brothers and sisters...."

Our Lady is calling us to a very special ministry in this message. It is the grace of joining in the rescue mission for souls. She sees all the souls who in our day are inundated with temptations: temptations from without, through the media, through materialism, through our drug culture, through atheism and all the other faithless and Godless endeavors that surround us, and temptations from within, through loneliness, abandonment, abuse, despondency and despair. There are many, many souls who are sorely tempted in these days. And yet there are so few who can give them hope and the way out.

But we are being called to offer up our sufferings, our fasting, our prayers and little sacrifices for them, to stand as a bulwark between these souls and the enemy who would like to convince them to despair.

St. Faustina received this very ministry from Jesus, early in her consecrated life. Here is how she describes it:

My Jesus, I will now strive to give honor and glory to Your Name, doing battle till the day on which You yourself will say, enough! Every soul You have entrusted to me, Jesus, I will try to aid with prayer and sacrifice, so that Your grace can work in them. O great lover of souls, my Jesus, I thank You for this immense confidence with which You have deigned to place souls in our care. O you days of work and of monotony, you are not monotonous to me at all, for each moment brings me new graces and opportunity to do good. (Diary 245)
St. Faustina understood that her prayer and sacrifice could help souls to withstand temptations and find faith. And she wanted very much to be part of the fight for souls. We are now being called to join in that fight. It is not easy, because we may not see the effects of our sacrifices and prayers on this earth. The souls saved may be hidden from our eyes. But through faith we know that Our Lady would not ask us to sacrifice and pray for souls if it was impossible to be any help!
So, together, let's begin to understand this call. We can help our brothers and sisters who are in danger. Our prayers and sacrifices are works of rescue!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 25, 2017 Reflection - Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
September 25, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

Let's contemplate the August 25 message as we await the September 25 message to come later today:

"Dear children! Today I am calling you to be people of prayer. Pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High. He will transform your hearts and you will become people of love and peace. Do not forget, little children, that Satan is strong and wants to draw you away from prayer. You, do not forget that prayer is the secret key of meeting with God. That is why I am with you to lead you. Do not give up on prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2017)

Hopefully this beautiful message ignited a renewal in our prayer life this month. It is so easy to grow lukewarm in prayer. But with Our Lady's help, we can persevere in prayer, praying until prayer becomes a joy for us!

Our shipmate, Christina, wrote me about her experience of praying until it becomes a joy for us:

Hi Cathy,
This is so true. I've experienced this same "pray until" struggle at one time or another. Some days I really struggle; my prayer is dry and distracted, and I sometimes feel a bit discouraged thinking on its merit. But there have been times where after doing maybe 3 rosaries and a St. Michael chaplet where I start to feel His love and joy in my heart, too. It's an uplifting feeling! And you're right, Cathy, sticking with prayer and not giving up is definitely being active in spiritual warfare. It reminds me of something St. Louis de Montfort had said in True Devotion to Mary:
"Always remember that the best Rosary is the one with the most merit in praying when it is hard than when it is easy."

And:

"He who fights even the smallest distractions faithfully when he says even the very smallest prayer he will also be faithful in the great things..."

It's like that saying, "Don't give up the ship!" We gotta just keep with prayer, even when it's tough, and we will feel the love of the Lord within our hearts as Our Lady tells us!  Christina

Amen!! Let's not give up, no matter what. Our Lady is depending on our prayers!!

Mary TV: September 22, 2017 Reflection - Everything that I desire to realize...

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
September 22, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

There are many theories being offered in these days, theories of what God is doing at this difficult time. This is the centennial of the apparitions at Fatima, in which Our Lady made several predictions that were fulfilled. Over the past one hundred years we have seen humanity fall into great darkness, as nations, institutions and families have been divided and weakened by sin and a loss of faith. It would seem that Our Lady's desires were ignored by most of the world.

But as sad as this century has been, God has not given up on us yet. Our Lady's coming to Medjugorje with a plan for peace has given many new hope. Our Lady has told us so much in this message:

August 25, 1991 "Dear Children! Today also I invite you to prayer, now as never before when my plan has begun to be realized. Satan is strong and wants to sweep away my plans of peace and joy and make you think that my Son is not strong in His decisions. Therefore, I call all of you, dear children, to pray and fast still more firmly. I invite you to self-renunciation for nine days so that, with your help, everything that I desire to realize through the secrets I began in Fatima, may be fulfilled. I call you, dear children, to now grasp the importance of my coming and the seriousness of the situation. I want to save all souls and present them to God. Therefore, let us pray that everything I have begun be fully realized. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Our Lady's presence in Medjugorje with a plan for peace is part of her intervention at Fatima, the culmination of it. She wants to complete the plan of rescue she began in Fatima, and she needs us to help make it happen.

We may be distracted from Our Lady's plan by the things that are taking place and the theories that many are offering us about these portentous days. But Our Lady has told us there is only one sign we should be paying attention to. It is Medjugorje!

April 25, 1992 "Dear children! Today also I invite you to prayer. Only by prayer and fasting can war be stopped. Therefore, my dear little children, pray and by your life give witness that you are mine and that you belong to me, because satan wishes in these turbulent days to seduce as many souls as possible. Therefore, I invite you to decide for God and He will protect you and show you what you should do and which path to take. I invite all those who have said "yes" to me to renew their consecration to my Son Jesus and to His Heart and to me so we can take you more intensely as instruments of peace in this unpeaceful world. Medjugorje is a sign to all of you and a call to pray and live the days of grace that God is giving you. Therefore, dear children, accept the call to prayer with seriousness. I am with you and your suffering is also mine. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Medjugorje is a sign to all of us, and a call to pray and live the days of grace that God is giving us. This is the time of grace, the time of fulfillment. Rather than get distracted by other theories or fearful announcements, we need to live this time of grace through prayer and renunciation. That is our job in this work of God.

As a reminder to us of this plan just before October 13, 2017, Our Lady gave us this message through Ivan on September 1:

September 1, 2017 (through Ivan)
Dear children, today I wish to invite you again to pray at this time in particular for my intentions, for the plans I wish to accomplish with my coming. Pray, dear children, and be persevering in prayer! Mother prays for all of you and intercedes for all of you with her Son. Thank you, dear children, for having responded even today to my call."

She reminds us to pray for her intentions, for her plans, and not to quit! Our response in essential in this plan. She doesn't tell us to look for signs in the heavens, or disasters or storms or wars as our signs. She is our sign, her presence in Medjugorje is the sign. And she is asking us to join her in her plan to bring peace to the earth, through her Heart, so filled with love.

I believe we all need to recommit ourselves to Our Lady's peace plan, and follow her through her messages in Medjugorje at this moment in history. Everything she has done up until this day has been directed towards peace. She is not going to change course now. And we cannot change either. Persevere! Stand firm! Believe in Our Lady's call! Pray, fast, confess, convert, witness! That is our part in this plan. Don't get distracted by anything else, no matter how plausible. It may be a smoke screen. Trust Our Lady and stand firm.

As she said to us on July 2, 2016: "Dear children, my real, living presence among you should make you happy because this is the great love of my Son. He is sending me among you so that, with a motherly love, I may grant you safety... Trust in my Son, because He will do for you what you would not even know how to ask for..."

Mary TV: September 21, 2017 Reflection - The well do not need a doctor, the sick do.

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
September 21, 2017
St. Matthew, Apostle

Dear Family of Mary!

As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, "Follow me."
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
"Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
He heard this and said,
"Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,
I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners." (Mt 9:9-13)

I always marvel at this reading from St. Matthew's Gospel. This is his own story, the story of how he was called to be an apostle. He was a most unlikely candidate. A tax collector, a sinner of the first order. To the Pharisees he was an outcast. Someone not to be associated with. And yet, Jesus walked right up to him, where he was collecting taxes, and called him. No hesitation.

Matthew followed Jesus, gave a dinner for him that night, inviting his other sinful friends, and Jesus sat among them with love. Unbelievable. But Jesus knew what he was doing. "Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' I did not come to call the righteous but sinners."

I want to point out that Our Lady is just like her Son. In Medjugorje there is the biggest collection of sinners you could imagine. From the very beginning Our Lady has drawn sinner after sinner to her village. Once they arrive, they are welcomed by the parish, washed in the confessional, fed by the Eucharist, taught by the witness of others, and healed by climbing the rocky hills in prayer. Our Lady gives signs to each one, according to their need, so that they can understand her individual love for them, and also find their way to Jesus. They learn to know themselves while in Our Lady's brilliant presence. They see their wounds, their scars, their sins, their weaknesses, and they see how very much they are loved. That love is the key to the changes that take place in each person. Medjugorje is very much like Matthew's house, where all sorts of sinners gather to be with the Lord.
Take, for instance, the most recent Fruit Show, #281. (Here is the link to the Fruit of Medjugorje page: http://marytv.tv/?page_id=167  ) In it Melanie shares her story. She was wounded as a child, and lost her way in drinking and faithlessness for many years. But she finally found herself in Medjugorje with her mother, and through the Cenacolo Community discovered the way to healing. Our Lady made the connection for her and gave her the inner conviction that she needed to join the community. She has been 4 years in the Cenacolo Community and now is ready to live her life. This healing happened very much through Our Lady of Medjugorje, who welcomed Melanie to her village and found the answer for her, the way to wholeness and joy.

Melanie was very much like the people who were gathered at St. Matthew's house that night with Jesus. She was sick and she needed a doctor. She found Jesus and Mary in Medjugorje and she has been healed. There are very many testimonies on our web page that share the same good news. Jesus and Mary have come not for the healthy, but for the sick. They are calling us all to come and be healed, to learn that we are loved, and that we are made for God. Medjugorje is a field hospital for the walking wounded. Come and be healed!

Our Lady once said:
June 2, 2010 "Dear Children; Today I call you with prayer and fasting to clear the path in which my Son will enter into your hearts. Accept me as a mother and a messenger of God's love and His desire for your salvation. Free yourself of everything from the past which burdens you, that gives you a sense of guilt, that which previously led you astray in error and darkness. Accept the light. Be born anew in the righteousness of my Son. Thank you."

This is what happened to St. Matthew. It happened to Melanie. And it can happen to all of us!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 20, 2017 Reflection - Thank you, Mary!

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children, thank you for continuing to respond to my invitations and for gathering here around me, your heavenly mother. I know that you are thinking of me with love and hope. I, too, feel love for all of you, just as my most beloved Son also feels it: He who, through his merciful love, is always sending me to you anew..." (July 2, 2017)

Our Lady comes to us in Medjugorje as a loving mother. She tells us she feels love for each of us. She longs for us to find true peace, to know her Son, to be united with her in heaven. She loves us and she thanks us.

How can we thank her? I found a lovely thanksgiving prayer to Our Lady, written by Fr. Slavko Barbaric and published in his book "Follow me with the Heart." This book (the second edition) was published in 2000, the year Fr. Slavko died.

We can imagine we are sitting on Podbrdo (Apparition Hill) near Our Lady's statue and pray together. (You can also go to our live camera on Apparition Hill to pray at the apparition site.  Here is the link:  http://marytv.tv/?page_id=309 )

Thanksgiving to the Queen of Peace. (by Fr. Slavko Barbaric)

Mary, I am sitting here on your hill of Podbrdo,
in the place where those frightened children first saw you.
[Thirty-six] years have passed since you first came
with your Son Jesus to our rugged hill.
[Thirty-six] years have passed since you cried under the cross
and called us to reconciliation.
Today I want to express my gratitude:
Thank you Mary for having come here.
Thank you for every message, for every single word,
and thank you especially because you call me your dear child.
Thank you because I can really trust that I am dear to you,
and that you love me.

Thank you because you let me know that if I pray,
I will begin to understand your love
and then I will cry and jump for joy.
Thank you because you said
that I am important to you
and that without us you cannot realize your plans.

On your hill of Podbrdo this [day],
My soul is singing its thanks to you,
and together with you
I will bless the Lord who sent you here.

I know that you are the humble servant of the Lord,
but allow me to bless and thank you.
Blessed are you, Mary, Queen of Peace.
My soul together with St. Elizabeth, the whole parish
and the pilgrims rejoices:
How is it that the mother of my Lord comes to me...

I bless you with the visionaries and in the families.
I bless you with the parish community and in the hearts of pilgrims.
I bless you with all families who have accepted you and live in peace.
I bless you with all the prayer groups of the world,
because you teach us to pray.
I bless you with all those who have come from near and far to pray here.
I bless you with all those who have confessed
and have made their peace with the Lord.
I bless you with all those who, at your intercession
have received new health in spirit, soul, and body.
I bless you together with all those who have rejoiced
in the 36th anniversary of your apparitions here.
I bless you for everything that the Lord will do in the future through you.
I bless you in the name of all those who have been
and some who still are against your coming here,
because I know that you will show your gentle motherly love to them too.

Together with you I beg the Lord to calm every heart
and give peace to my people.
Together with you I will intercede for all those
who are ill in soul and body.
Together with you I beg the Lord to console those who are saddened
by the aftermath of war, all those who are left invalids.
Together with you I will intercede for the souls of
the victims of violence and those who died defending their country.
Together with you I will ask that your Immaculate Heart
be glorified in the world and that peace is bestowed at your intercession.
May almighty God be blessed now and forever.
Amen.

Mary TV: September 19, 2017 Reflection - What is important is the health of your soul

Dear Family of Mary!

September 02, 2017 "Dear children, who could speak to you about the love and the pain of my Son better than I? I lived with Him; I suffered with Him. Living the earthly life, I felt pain because I was a mother. My Son loved the thoughts and the works of the Heavenly Father, the true God. And, as He said to me, He came to redeem you. I hid my pain through love, but you, my children, you have numerous questions. You do not comprehend pain. You do not comprehend that through the love of God you need to accept pain and endure it. Every human being will experience it to a lesser or greater measure. But with peace in the soul and in a state of grace, hope exists; this is my Son, God, born of God. His words are the seed of eternal life. Sown in good souls they bring numerous fruits. My Son bore the pain because He took your sins upon Himself. Therefore, you, my children, apostles of my love, you who suffer, know that your pain will become light and glory. My children, while you are enduring pain, while you are suffering, Heaven enters in you and you give a piece of Heaven and much hope to all those around you. Thank you."

In this message, Our Lady spoke to us of pain. There is much to learn from her words. I am especially struck by these, "Therefore, you, my children, apostles of my love, you who suffer, know that your pain will become light and glory...." It is hard to understand, but suffering endured with love for God is the most beautiful thing on earth. It brings Jesus down to us in a very special way.

Still we want very much for Jesus to heal those who are sick and suffering. Long ago, in 1985, she spoke to Jelena about those who suffer. She dictated a prayer to use when praying for the sick. It teaches us much about how to accept and endure pain, about how to stay connected to the Lord in sickness and suffering. Here is the prayer:

Prayer for a Sick Person
(Given by Our Lady to Jelena Vasilj, 6/22/1985)
Recite 3 Glory Be's
O my God
behold this sick person before You.
He has come to ask You what he wishes
and what he considers as the most important thing for him.

You, oh my God,
make these words enter into his heart:
"What is important, is the health of your soul."
Lord, may Your will in everything
take place in his regard.

If You want for him to be cured,
let health be given to him;
but if Your will is something else,
let him continue to bear his cross.
I also pray to You for us,
who intercede for him;
purify our hearts,
to make us worthy to convey
Your holy Mercy.
Protect him and relieve his pain,
that Your holy will be done in him,
that Your holy name be revealed through him,
help him to bear his cross with courage. Amen

When we contemplate suffering and pain, we stand before a mystery. We do not understand the great power and beauty of a soul that suffers with love. But Our Lady tells us about it. She says: "My children, while you are enduring pain, while you are suffering, Heaven enters in you and you give a piece of Heaven and much hope to all those around you."  The key is to desire what is for the health of our soul, desire God's will for us, and trust Him with our lives.  That witness of trust in God brings heaven to earth.

May we give that piece of Heaven to all we meet, and may our suffering be turned to joy one day in Heaven.

Mary TV: September 18, 2017 Reflection - Tell me about everything that concerns you.

Dear Family of Mary!

August 25, 2017 "Dear children! Thank you for having responded to my call."

On August 25, 2017, Our Lady called us again to prayer. She told us to be "people of prayer", to "pray until prayer becomes a joy for you and a meeting with the Most High." She doesn't give up on this call. It is essential to her plan for us. What does she mean by "a meeting with the Most High"?

For one thing she doesn't mean a public meeting with God. Though public prayer is indispensable to our Christian life, it does not meet all our needs as God's children. We need time with our Father. We need time with Jesus, our Brother, to be with Him. We need time with the Holy Spirit, who envelops us in love. It has to be one-to-one time, intimate and personal. We are meant to have this kind of relationship with the Lord. He wants it. Take this conversation between St. Faustina and Jesus, for example:
February 6, [1937]. Today, the Lord said to me, My daughter, I am told that there is much simplicity in you, so why do you not tell Me about everything that concerns you, even the smallest details? Tell Me about everything, and know that this will give Me great joy. I answered, "But You know about everything, Lord." And Jesus replied to me, Yes, I do know; but you should not excuse yourself with the fact that I know, but with childlike simplicity talk to Me about everything, for My ears and heart are inclined towards you, and your words are dear to Me. (St. Faustina's Diary, 921)

"Why do you not tell me everything that concerns you..." This may sound a bit too much. But I believe that Jesus means it! He wants us to tell Him everything, in detail. There is much He can do for us in such conversations. There is much to learn in the telling. As we recount our sorrows, our fears, our joys, our hopes and dreams, Jesus pours out His light upon them. He listens with complete love and patience. And He cares about each little thing. And, as we tell Him each thing, we learn about ourselves. Have we been jealous of someone? Jesus can alleviate our self doubt. He can show us how much we are loved and take away the need to envy someone else. Have we been angry about something. Jesus listens with peace, and slowly injects His peace into our hearts. This peace shows us the way out of anger, the way to forgive, and to be constructive in love. Have we been mourning? He holds us close to His Heart, where we find the warmth of His love, and the courage to hope in the eternal reunion that awaits us.

As Our Lady says in her February 2, 2011 message: "
Dear children, proper prayer comes from the depth of your heart, from your suffering, from your joy, from your seeking the forgiveness of sins. This is the way to come to know the right God and by that also yourselves, because you are created according to Him." When we tell Jesus everything, He can teach us about who we are, in Him. We are made according to Him. He is the blueprint of humanity, and we can find ourselves in Him. This is what we so need, to know who we are in Christ. That knowledge frees us from the lies of our enemy and sets us on the road to joy!

Jesus told St. Faustina that her words were dear to Him. He says that to us as well. He wants us to speak to him, at length, not with empty words, but from the depths of our hearts, our pain, our sorrow, our anger, our passions, our longings and our fears. He wants it all. He can transform us if we tell Him everything.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 15, 2017 Reflection - Our Lady of Sorrows

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
September 15, 2017
Our Lady of Sorrows

Dear Family of Mary!

On this day we honor Our Lady for all the sorrows she bore in her life, sorrows at the suffering of her Son. Traditionally, there are seven sorrows that we commemorate:

The Prophecy of Simeon at the Presentation in the Temple (Lk 2:22-35)
The Flight into Egypt (Mt 2:13-21)
The Loss of Jesus in the Temple (Lk 2:41-50)
Mary Encounters Jesus on the Way of the Cross (John 19:1; Luke 23:26-32)
Jesus Dies on the Cross (Mark 15:22; John 19:18, 25-27; Mark 15:34; Luke 23:46)
Jesus Is Taken Down From the Cross (John 19:31-34, 38; Lam 1:12)
Jesus is Laid in the Tomb (Matthew 27:59; John 19:38-42; Mark 15:46; Luke 27:55-56)

Of course these are the major events that brought suffering to Mary, because they were the sorrows of a mother! The suffering of Jesus was the sorrow for Mary. And there were countless everyday events that were also tough for Jesus and Mary, moments when they were misunderstood or marginalized by family and friends, and all the sad encounters with the leaders of the Jews during Jesus' public ministry.

But we shouldn't be discouraged by these sorrows of Our Lady. She isn't. One thing we do know is that Mary was victorious over all these sorrows because she loved with God's love. She always loved and never excluded anyone from her love. And this is what she is trying to teach all of us. Jesus was the first to love, and Mary followed Him perfectly. Now she wants us to follow them both on the way of love, even in sorrow. Love conquers sorrow and actually turns it into joy!

We can use this day to allow Our Lady to show us how to turn our sorrows into joy. She shows us the way in her messages. Mary does not discount sorrow but she is not afraid of sorrows. Her love is more powerful. But she is afraid that our sorrows will damage us. She wants us to give them to her, and to turn to Jesus with trust that our sorrow can become redemptive and we can become joy!

February 25, 1999
"Dear children! Also today I am with you in a special way contemplating and living the passion of Jesus in my heart. Little children, open your hearts and give me everything that is in them: joys, sorrows and each, even the smallest pain, that I may offer them to Jesus; so that with His immeasurable love, He may burn and transform your sorrows into the joy of His resurrection. That is why, I now call you in a special way, little children, for your hearts to open to prayer, so that through prayer you may become friends of Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call."

November 25, 1991 "Dear Children! This time also I am inviting you to prayer. Pray that you might be able to comprehend what God desires to tell you through my presence and through the messages I am giving you. I desire to draw you ever closer to Jesus and to His wounded heart that you might be able to comprehend the immeasurable love which gave itself for each one of you. Therefore, dear children, pray that from your heart would flow a fountain of love to every person both to the one who hates you and to the one who despises you. That way you will be able through Jesus' love to overcome all the misery in this world of sorrows, which is without hope for those who do not know Jesus. I am with you and I love you with the immeasurable love of Jesus. Thank you for all your sacrifices and prayers. Pray so I might be able to help you still more. Your prayers are necessary to me. Thank you for having responded to my call."

March 25, 2005 "Dear children! Today I call you to love. Little children, love each other with God's love. At every moment, in joy and in sorrow, may love prevail and, in this way, love will begin to reign in your hearts. The risen Jesus will be with you and you will be his witnesses. I will rejoice with you and protect you with my motherly mantle. Especially, little children, I will watch your daily conversion with love. Thank you for having responded to my call."

September 25, 2009 "Dear children, with joy, persistently work on your conversion. Offer all your joys and sorrows to my Immaculate Heart that I may lead you all to my most beloved Son, so that you may find joy in His Heart. I am with you to instruct you and to lead you towards eternity. Thank you for having responded to my call."

And there is the most recent message, September 2, 2017. Our Lady calls us to accept pain, endure it with love. These are the words of a strong woman, who did not respond to pain and sorrow with fear, but stood firm in faith, hope and love throughout all her sufferings. And her sorrow became great, amazing, unending joy!

Thank you."

Let's live this feast day with great hope, for the promise of victory over this world of woes is ours. Mary, teach us to love, teach us how to turn our sorrows and pains into the joy of love!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 14, 2017 Reflection - The Exaltation of the Holy Cross

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

August 30, 1984 "Dear children! The cross was also in God's plan when you built it. These days, especially, go on the mountain and pray before the Cross. I need your prayers. Thank you for having responded to my call."

The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
Dear Family of Mary!
Medjugorje is overshadowed by this huge Cross that was built at the summit of Mount Krizevac in 1933 by the villagers. The Cross proclaims that Christ is the Lord of this whole area. He is the Savior of the people and the hope of eternal life for them all. The Cross is held high above the village, as a sign to all! A sign of love and allegiance. Jesus is Savior and Lord!
Our Lady once said that she prays before the Cross on Krizevac every day for her children.  (We can join her in praying there through Mary TV's live camera feed on Cross Mountain.  Cross Mountain

Let's take time today to meditate on some of Our Lady's messages about the Cross.
They will lead us to meditate on the Cross in a more profound way. The Cross is the sign of Life for us!

September 12, 1985 "Dear children! I wish to tell you that the Cross should be central these days. Pray especially before the Cross from which great graces are coming. Now in your homes make a special consecration to the Cross. Promise that you will neither offend Jesus nor abuse the Cross. Thank you for having responded to my call."

March 25, 1997 "Dear children! Today, in a special way, I invite you to take the cross in the hands and to meditate on the wounds of Jesus. Ask of Jesus to heal your wounds, which you, dear children, during your life sustained because of your sins or the sins of your parents. Only in this way, dear children, you will understand that the world is in need of healing of faith in God the Creator. By Jesus' passion and death on the cross, you will understand that only through prayer you, too, can become true apostles of faith; when, in simplicity and prayer, you live faith which is a gift. Thank you for having responded to my call."

March 25, 2015 "Dear children! Also today the Most High permits me to be with you and to lead you on the way of conversion. Many hearts have shut themselves to grace and have become deaf to my call. You, little children, pray and fight against temptation and all the evil plans which the devil offers you through modernism. Be strong in prayer and with the cross in your hands pray that evil may not use you and may not conquer in you. I am with you and pray for you. Thank you for having responded to my call."

October 2, 2009 "Dear Children, As I look at you, my heart seizes with pain. Where are you going my children? Have you sunk so deeply into sin that you do not know how to stop yourselves? You justify yourselves with sin and live according to it. Kneel down beneath the Cross and look at my Son. He conquered sin and died so that you, my children, may live. Permit me to help you not to die but to live with my Son forever. Thank you!"

February 02, 2013 "Dear children, love is bringing me to you - the love which I desire to teach you also - real love; the love which my Son showed you when He died on the Cross out of love for you; the love which is always ready to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. How great is your love? My motherly heart is sorrowful as it searches for love in your hearts. You are not ready to submit your will to God's will out of love. You cannot help me to have those who have not come to know God's love to come to know it, because you do not have real love. Consecrate your hearts to me and I will lead you. I will teach you to forgive, to love your enemies and to live according to my Son. Do not be afraid for yourselves. In afflictions my Son does not forget those who love. I will be beside you. I will implore the Heavenly Father for the light of eternal truth and love to illuminate you. Pray for your shepherds so that through your fasting and prayer they can lead you in love. Thank you."

We adore you, Oh Christ, and we bless you, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

News and Stories from Sister Emmanuel: September Report 2017

Medjugorje, 14 September 2017
Exaltation of the Cross

Dear Children of Medjugorje, praise be to Jesus and Mary!

1 - On September 2, 2017, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross in the presence of a very large crowd. After the apparition, she conveyed the message that Mary gave us:

"Dear children, who could speak to you about the love and the pain of my Son better than I? I lived with Him; I suffered with Him. Living the earthly life I felt pain because I was a mother. Thank you."

Watch the apparition here:

2. Strange events! During this apparition, a rather common phenomenon occurred once again. But on this day, it was on a scale I had never seen before. People in large numbers began to howl blasphemies and yell like animals as soon as the Blessed Mother appeared. This went on for some time, and then everything gradually calmed down. When people who are tormented by demons are in the presence of Our Lady these demons sometimes manifest their anger in this way.

A priest who was there with us told me at the end of the apparition that he had perceived the coming of the Mother of God within his soul, and the luminous cloud on which she stands. This cloud slowly moved downward, pushing the demons down into the abyss, which unleashed their revolt and even prompted them to fight against each other. This priest belongs to a team that works with an exorcist every week, and he has the gift of seeing in spirit what is happening in the invisible realm. These realities are not new; the Gospel reveals a number of them to us. However in our days, with the growing number of harmful practices and the serious sins that are being committed, many people are opening their doors to Satan and his angels without being aware of it. Let us therefore pray a great deal to the Mother of God, because she was chosen by God to crush the head of the serpent. She is the best exorcist after Jesus! The Rosary prayer is a very powerful weapon against the forces of evil.

An exorcist from the diocese of Milano, Don Ambrogio Villa, reported what Satan said during a recent exorcism. Summoned to answer the questions which the priest asked him, Satan said: "For us (demons), Medjugorje is our hell on earth!" (See PS 1). No surprise there! Given the intensity of prayers surrounding the daily visits of Our Lady, given the evenings of adoration with people in their thousands, given the many sincere confessions, conversions and reconciliations, it isn't surprising that the enemy of humankind feels awful there. But we must keep watch! He is doing everything he can to oppose the plan of the Mother of God and to destroy it. This is why our Heavenly Mother is counting on us today more than ever. She asked us again this month at the Blue Cross with Ivan, to pray for the plans she has for Medjugorje and for her projects. "I need your prayers to help the world," she said at the very beginning of the apparitions. Let's not let her down, because a lot of what will happen depends on our prayers and our fasting! It actually depends on our good will to live her messages or to ignore them.

3. With whom are you suffering?
The Blessed Mother has given us an extraordinary message! Let me try to explain.
When we are seized by suffering, a wound opens up within us, and this wound makes us very sensitive and vulnerable. Delighted to see us so vulnerable, Satan takes advantage of this and tries to infect this open wound by injecting his own poisons, his own thoughts. He will make subtle suggestions to our consciences, with twisted words, using the weakness of our nature damaged by sin. He tries to make us believe that these suggestions come from us.
For instance, despair: "Considering everything you've already suffered, you just cannot endure this new blow, it's better to kill yourself!"
Doubting God's love: "You think God loves you? Not at all! Look at what he's doing to you! Don't bother going to mass or praying anymore, you're wasting your time, this God couldn't care less!"
Revolt: "Why did this happen to you? Why did God take away your young husband, while my unbelieving neighbor still has hers? How unfair!"
Bitterness: "Well now it's over, I'm shutting myself down, locking myself in. Leave me alone! My life is now meaningless,"
Hatred: "These people who hurt you so badly, they deserve your hate! Take revenge! They're going to pay for what they did, and it's going to be bloody!"
Guilt: "This trial fell on me because I deserved it! It is God's punishment, because I am no good."
The list could go on and on... Do not ever listen to any of these suggestions, even if they violently invade your mind! Satan always makes a lot of noise. If we listen to him, we suffer even more and lose peace completely. How can we discern this? By comparing these suggestions with the words of Jesus in the Gospel. Would Jesus say "You need to take revenge?" Or "You need to hate this person"? "You should shut yourself in"? "Kill yourself"? "Doubt the love of the Father"? Of course not! So we need to disconnect with those thoughts and tell Jesus "I don't want these thoughts, they are not mine.  The enemy is after me, but I chose to be with you!"

Jesus himself comes into our wounds, but in a completely different way. In the silence of our heart he whispers "Don't be afraid! I am with you! Your suffering is also mine. Look at my hands, my feet and my side. I too have suffered. Together, you and I, we will make it."

And then Jesus asks us for a favor: "Give me your wound. Offer up your pain!" If we offer up our suffering to Jesus, he receives it with deep gratitude. And then what does he do with it? He puts it onto his own wounds and makes it his own! And what came out of the wounds of Christ? Bitterness, hatred, despair? Definitely not! From his wounds came healing, consolation, peace, forgiveness, all the graces and even the sacraments. His suffering is redemptive. "By his wounds we are healed" says St Paul. Therefore our suffering, when bound to His suffering, becomes co-redemptive, and we take part in the work of Redemption accomplished by Christ. There is only one Redeemer and that is Jesus Christ. But having hidden our sufferings in the wounds of Christ, we help Him to extend the grace of salvation further still! Through Baptism, we really became the body of Christ. "I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I do my share on behalf of His body, which is the Church, in filling up what is lacking in Christ's afflictions", says St. Paul (Col 1:24). We then become co-redeemers, just as the Mother of God is the co-redemptrix (See PS 2). That is when joy flows through us, not because of a love of suffering (which would be a perversion), but for the love of Christ, seeing the fruits of salvation achieved through our offering. The soul experiences its greatest joy when it is in deep intimate love with Christ and in our participation in His work. All the joys of the world are nothing compared to this joy. Because then indeed, "Heaven enters us!"
"Apostles of my love, you who are suffering, be aware that your pain will become light and glory. My children, while you are enduring pain, while you are suffering, heaven is coming into your being, and you are giving a piece of that heaven, as well as a great deal of hope to all those who surround you."
This is the real question: when I am suffering, whose voice shall I choose to listen to? Will I suffer with the evil one who wants to destroy me, or with Jesus who wants to save me?

4. On 8 September, for the Nativity of Our Lady, Ivan received an apparition at the Blue Cross and Mary again invited us to pray for families, for young people and for holiness in families. "Dear Children, even today I would like to invite you to pray for families. Pray for holiness in families, pray for young people! My children have gone away. They have moved away from my Son Jesus. Pray, dear children! Know that I pray for all of you and intercede for you before my Son."

5. This month, just before the feast of St Padre Pio, I will be moving up from my 60s to my 70s. On this occasion, I thank my Creator for the gift of life, and for having called me to be consecrated to Him. The Spouse he gave me is my every joy. I ask Him for the ability to serve you, my dear friends, for a long time to come, if that is His will. May I ask you for a wonderful birthday present? Ask a priest to celebrate a mass for Mary's plan to be fully accomplished. May her dream come true: may Medjugorje experience again the fervor of the early days of the apparitions! THANK YOU with all my heart.
