Mary TV: October 31, 2018 Reflection - For you and the future generations!

Future generations!!!
(c)Anthony Zubac
October 31, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

Our Lady doesn't tell us the future. She doesn't predict things. She speaks to us in practical terms about how we are to live now. But there have been a few glimpses of hope that she has given us.

On June 25, 2006 she told us:
"Dear children! With great joy in my heart I thank you for all the prayers that, in these days, you offered for my intentions. Know, little children, that you will not regret it, neither you nor your children. God will reward you with great graces and you will merit eternal life..." She spoke of our children who are the future, and the gift we can give them if we pray as Our Lady asks.

And on December 2, 2011 she told us: "Dear children; As a mother I am with you so that with my love, prayer and example I may help you to become a seed of the future, a seed that will grow into a firm tree and spread its branches throughout the world." Such a tree surely is like the family tree, the descendants that will flourish because we became seeds of life, seeds of faith in Jesus and Mary.

On March 25, 2017 she said: "You are not alone; I am with you through the grace which the Most High gives me for you and your descendants..." Clearly God has our descendants in mind, and is sending Our Lady for them as well as for us.

And finally on October 25, 2018 Our Lady let us glimpse our future with her. She said: "...This, little children, is a time of grace, a time and a call to conversion for you and the future generations..." (October 25, 2018) She made it very clear that what she is doing is not only for our immediate good but for the good of generations to come. She is part of a plan to save the world.
We have a future with God and with Our Lady! Mirjana Soldo shared in her book, "My Heart Will Triumph" a similar glimpse into the future. Here is what she said:

When people ask me gloomy questions about Biblical catastrophes and the end of the world, I feel sorry for them. Some seem to think that all the secrets are negative. Maybe they have a guilty conscience; maybe they are afraid of how they've lived their life and so they fear God's punishment. Perhaps when we do not have enough good inside, we expect bad things. But nothing can be changed by worrying about the secrets. Instead, people should only worry about how to change themselves.

People have asked me how I cope with the burden of the secrets, but I often think that the secrets burden others more than they do me. The people who are concerned about the secrets have not seen Our Lady and do not know about God's complete project - why Our Lady comes here at all, or what she's preparing us for. But if your life is in her hands, and God is in your heart, what can harm you?

If everyone knew me and could see how much I laugh and joke, no one would be afraid of the secrets. Those who truly know God's love should be full of joy. It does not make sense to talk about the future when any of us might die tomorrow. Our Lady constantly reminds us about that in her messages, like when she said, "My children, your life is only a blink in contrast to eternal life."

I cannot divulge much more about the secrets, but I can say this-Our Lady is planning to change the world. She did not come to announce our destruction; she came to save us, and with her Son, she will triumph over evil.

If our Mother has promised to defeat evil, then what do we have to fear?
(Mirjana Soldo. "My Heart Will Triumph." p. 142)

So in this time and in this call to conversion, we have the possibility to help build a very bright future for ourselves and our children and their children. But we must convert and live the messages, in order to become the seeds of that future. Everything depends on this time, now. Will we be seeds for the future?

Mary TV: October 30, 2018 Reflection - A New life!

(c)Anthony Zubac
October 30, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! You have a great grace of being called to a new life through the messages which I am giving you..." (October 25, 2018)

I feel like we cannot afford to ignore this latest message. Even in the first line there is an urgency. We need to understand that right now, in this time, we are being offered a "great grace." The grace is being offered to us by God, through Our Lady, present with us in Medjugorje. The grace is for something extraordinary. We are being offered a new life.

What is a new life? What does it mean to live a new life? It must mean first of all that we have an old life. We have a life that has developed over time in this world. And it may not be worth hanging on to, or God would not offer us a new life! That old life may feel comfortable, but is it really? We are used to it. We are used to living with habitual sins, dark memories, broken relationships, boredom, lost hope, and on and on. Our old lives are most likely built on a compromise between what is holy and what is not. And we are stuck in the middle. Our hearts may be divided or broken or just numb. That is the old life. It is just old.
But the new life we are being offered is a life with God. It is a life centered on God, lived with God, filled by God and made beautiful by God. It is a life that shines with light!

St. Paul said it this way:

For the love of Christ controls us, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore, all have died. And he died for all, that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once regarded Christ from a human point of view, we regard him thus no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Cor 5: 14-21)

In Christ, we become new creations! We live a new life, free from the old, by Christ's redemption. This is the new life we are being offered by Our Lady. Her messages lead us to her Son, and through Him we become new creations with new lives. No more inner division, no more confusion, no more doubt and faithlessness. We become lovers of God, new creatures in His Kingdom.

So this new life we are being offered is something to desire. It is a gift to be accepted with open hearts. But how do we receive this gift? By living Our Lady's messages. By living the 5 stones, and all the other beautiful things she has called us to live. It is a new life we are being offered. While we are in Medjugorje, it may seem that the new life is very simple, very possible. That is because of Our Lady's presence. It is a bit of heaven there.

But when we get home, and all the old constructs of our lives appear, we have to begin to embrace the new life by leaving the old one. Little by little, we begin to pray more, talk less, love more, think of ourselves less, adore Jesus more, pay less attention to the world. Little by little the new life grows in us, through grace. It will make us so happy!!!
As St. Paul said: "We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God."

This is the new life!

Mary TV: October 29, 2018 Reflection - This is a time of grace!

(c)Anthony Zubac
October 29, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! You have a great grace of being called to a new life through the messages which I am giving you. This, little children, is a time of grace, a time and a call to conversion for you and the future generations. Therefore, I am calling you, little children, pray more and open your heart to my Son Jesus. I am with you and love you all and bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2018)

Our Lady has mentioned this "time of grace" at least 57 times in her messages. She reminds us every so often that we are in a "time of grace". It seems that her presence in Medjugorje indicates the time of grace. It is her presence that is the grace, and we have been given this grace now for 37 years.

There have been other times of grace. Jesus mentioned the time of Jonah as one such time:

"The men of Nin'eveh will arise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here." (Lk 11:32)
Jesus spoke these words in frustration, because in His day, many people ignored His words and His presence. Imagine not recognizing Jesus! Imagine not responding to His call! Imagine not knowing it was a time of grace!! Of course, in the Father's plan Jesus had to go to the Cross to save us, and so this blindness was necessary for that time.

According to the Book of Jonah in the Old Testament, the people of Nineveh had Jonah for only 3 days. He walked through their streets and told them to repent, that they had strayed from God and their time was up! God's grace was upon him, and so his words struck their hearts. And they responded with fasting and sack cloth. It was an astounding turn around.
But, truly something greater than Jonah is with us in Medjugorje! The Mother of God! And she is with us as our Mother, to help us to draw closer to her Son, Jesus. She is with us to teach us to pray, to help us repent, to draw us into the sacramental life of the Church, to offer us her consolation and encouragement, to bless us with her Motherly blessing, and to cover us with her mantle of love.
Our Lady has been with us for 37 years, bringing incredible graces of repentance and healing. And many of us have responded as the people of Nineveh responded. We have repented and changed our lives. But she is still with us because she is after more than a city like Nineveh. She is after the whole world!

And so she is still coming every day. She is still praying for us and asking God to give us hearts of flesh that will be capable of loving Him and each other. She is not giving up.

How can we respond to this time of grace? Our Lady says that the answer is in her messages. "You have a great grace of being called to a new life through the messages which I am giving you." They are the vehicles of the grace for us. Her words are powerful, and simple. She is keeping us focused on what is important as we walk with her through this time of grace. Live the messages. They call us to conversion. They call us back to God. They encourage us to have faith and to love. They are a plan for our future and the future of our children and their children. Jesus is working through His Mother to bring us into His Kingdom. This is a time of grace, great grace!!

Mary TV: October 25, 2018 Reflection - Have Courage and do not grow weary!

(c)Anthony Zubac
October 25, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

"...My Son showed you the way and gave you hope, and I am consoling and encouraging you because, my children, I had come to know pain, but I had faith and hope. Now I have the reward of life in the Kingdom of my Son. Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary. Thank you." (October 2, 2018)

These are the closing words of Our Lady's October 2, 2018 message. She began this message by saying: "I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary..." And she ended it in the same way: "Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary." I find her admonition to be encouraging and at the same time a bit foreboding. Our Lady is attempting to get us ready for some rough waters ahead.

We all recognize that we are in a moment of trial. No matter where we look there are conflicts and difficulties. It would be folly to ignore them. And yet, most of what is occurring in the world is out of our hands. Forces beyond us are at work.
That is why Our Lady tells us "My Son showed you the way and gave you hope." Jesus's way is the way of the Cross. Jesus showed us how to pick up our crosses and follow Him. Jesus' hope is the hope of the Resurrection. There is only one way to heaven, and that is through the Cross. And so, in our present turmoil, the way is still very clear for us. We follow Jesus. We choose faith in Jesus. We hope in Jesus. We trust Jesus. And we love Jesus. That is the way. Of course the turmoil is beyond our strength. But faith, hope and love are not beyond our strength. Jesus gives us strength to believe and love and hope each step of the way.

Our Lady further comforts us by saying that she also knew pain, turmoil, conflict, trials, but she had faith and hope just as we do. And she assures us that the reward of life in the Kingdom of her Son awaits us all. The way of the Cross was Our Lady's road, and she will walk it with each one of us as well.
And so our Mother says to us, "Listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary." I can only think that the end is not far off, if she is encouraging us to not give up now. Not now. Don't give up! Have courage! Gather your strength. Walk with dignity behind Jesus. Let Him lead you. It won't be long now!!!

Tomorrow we receive another message. She is with us: "I am consoling and encouraging you..." We are blessed to have such a Mother! Thank you, dearest Mother, for being with us, consoling us and encouraging us! We trust you and we say "yes" to you!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 24, 2018 Reflection - Opening the doors of the Kingdom of Heaven

(c)Anthony Zubac
October 24, 2018
St. Anthony Mary Claret

Dear Family of Mary!

"My children, your prayers, your words, thoughts and actions - all of this either opens or closes the doors to the Kingdom of Heaven for you..." (October 2, 2018)

(I know the following words of Jesus are tough. But I think this is what Our Lady is getting at.)

Matthew Chapter 5
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.
"You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

"Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

"You have heard that it was said to the men of old, `You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.' But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, `You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny.

"You have heard that it was said, `You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

"It was also said, `Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.' But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

"Again you have heard that it was said to the men of old, `You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply `Yes' or `No'; anything more than this comes from evil.

"You have heard that it was said, `An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.

"You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (Mt 5: 1-48)

"My children, your prayers, your words, thoughts and actions - all of this either opens or closes the doors to the Kingdom of Heaven for you..." (October 2, 2018)

Mary TV: October 23, 2018 Reflection - Oh Jesus, I surrender myself to you...

(c)Mateo Ivankovic
October 23, 2018
St. John of Capistrano

Dear Family of Mary!
"My children, long for holiness but in humility, in the humility which permits my Son to do that which He desires through you..." (October 2, 2018)

I guess that Our Lady understands us pretty well. She knows that if we long for holiness, thinking that we can become holy on our own steam, we will find that only our pride has grown in the effort. Try as we might, we cannot make ourselves holy. Only God can do that. Our part in the work of holiness is to give Him free reign in our lives, and then just keep on giving Him permission to guide us into holiness, day by day.

That is why I love the Surrender Novena that we pray together during the Daily Rosary. Jesus speaks very gently but firmly in that Novena, constantly calling us back to our childlike need for help. Each moment of each day we can turn to Jesus and ask Him to take over, and do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Whether it is a family relationship that needs healing, a domestic task that needs doing, a project at work that overwhelms us, or daily prayer that must be performed but seems to never happen. In every part of our life, we need Jesus to take over. We need to surrender to Him, and let Him guide us through the complications of life.

When we surrender to Jesus, we let go of our own ideas of how to accomplish something. We allow Jesus to "do that which He desires through [us]". As Our Lady knows, the hardest thing for us is to let go control. But that is exactly what we need to do. Jesus wants to work through us, but only one person can drive the car. We have to let go of the wheel so that Jesus can take over.

I think this is why in the Catholic tradition, we pray when we awake, and when we start our work. We want very much for Jesus to take over in our life. We need Him to do that which He desires through us!

Here is the link to our Surrender Novena that we pray each day together. Our surrender is the way to long for holiness in humility!

Mary TV: October 22, 2018 Reflection - St. John Paul II and the Rosary

(c)Mary TV
October 22, 2018
St. John Paul II

Dear Family of Mary!

Our Lady came to Medjugorje in 1981, early in the pontificate of St. John Paul II. She continued to appear for the rest of his life. It has always seemed to me that she was sent to us at that time, to be a strength for the Holy Father, and to bring graces for the Church, so very much needed at that time. She spoke to St. John Paul II a couple of times through the visionaries. Here are two such messages that she gave to him in particular:
Sunday, September 26, 1982 - For Pope John Paul II:
"Have him consider himself the father of all mankind, and not only of Christians. Have him spread untiringly and with courage the message of peace and love among all mankind."
Friday, September 16, 1983
"Pray, pray, pray! Do not be discouraged. Be in peace because God gives you the grace to defeat satan."

"In my messages, I recommend to everyone, and to the Holy Father in particular, to spread the message which I have received from my Son here at Medjugorje. I wish to entrust to the Pope, the word with which I came here: 'MIR', (peace in Croatian), which he must spread everywhere. And here is a message which is especially for him: That he bring together the Christian people, through his words and his preaching; that he spread particularly among the young people, the messages which he has received from the Father in his prayers, when God inspires him."

You can see that Our Lady was encouraging St. John Paul II to spread the message of peace to the people of the whole world. She herself was doing the very same thing. This was the Father's desire. And they both responded to it.

Late in his life and pontificate, St. John Paul II wrote an Apostolic Letter "On the Rosary". It is a powerful letter, short and rich in teaching. I find it important to reread it often, so as to refresh the good teaching found in it. Pope John Paul loved the Rosary. He prayed it with great faith and joy. Here is what he said about the Rosary as a powerful weapon for peace:

40. The grave challenges confronting the world at the start of this new Millennium lead us to think that only an intervention from on high, capable of guiding the hearts of those living in situations of conflict and those governing the destinies of nations, can give reason to hope for a brighter future.

The Rosary is by its nature a prayer for peace, since it consists in the contemplation of Christ, the Prince of Peace, the one who is "our peace" (Eph 2:14). Anyone who assimilates the mystery of Christ - and this is clearly the goal of the Rosary - learns the secret of peace and makes it his life's project. Moreover, by virtue of its meditative character, with the tranquil succession of Hail Marys, the Rosary has a peaceful effect on those who pray it, disposing them to receive and experience in their innermost depths, and to spread around them, that true peace which is the special gift of the Risen Lord (cf. Jn 14:27; 20.21).

The Rosary is also a prayer for peace because of the fruits of charity which it produces. When prayed well in a truly meditative way, the Rosary leads to an encounter with Christ in his mysteries and so cannot fail to draw attention to the face of Christ in others, especially in the most afflicted. How could one possibly contemplate the mystery of the Child of Bethlehem, in the joyful mysteries, without experiencing the desire to welcome, defend and promote life, and to shoulder the burdens of suffering children all over the world? How could one possibly follow in the footsteps of Christ the Revealer, in the mysteries of light, without resolving to bear witness to his "Beatitudes" in daily life? And how could one contemplate Christ carrying the Cross and Christ Crucified, without feeling the need to act as a "Simon of Cyrene" for our brothers and sisters weighed down by grief or crushed by despair? Finally, how could one possibly gaze upon the glory of the Risen Christ or of Mary Queen of Heaven, without yearning to make this world more beautiful, more just, more closely conformed to God's plan?

In a word, by focusing our eyes on Christ, the Rosary also makes us peacemakers in the world. By its nature as an insistent choral petition in harmony with Christ's invitation to "pray ceaselessly" (Lk 18:1), the Rosary allows us to hope that, even today, the difficult "battle" for peace can be won. Far from offering an escape from the problems of the world, the Rosary obliges us to see them with responsible and generous eyes, and obtains for us the strength to face them with the certainty of God's help and the firm intention of bearing witness in every situation to "love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony" (Col 3:14).

May we continue to pray the Rosary as St. John Paul II taught us, with attention, meditation, love and deep faith.

I find it deeply moving that St. John Paul would say: "The grave challenges confronting the world at the start of this new Millennium lead us to think that only an intervention from on high, capable of guiding the hearts of those living in situations of conflict and those governing the destinies of nations, can give reason to hope for a brighter future."Now we understand what he saw. This is indeed a time when we need God to intervene. Perhaps it is our Lady of Medjugorje who is that intervention.

We have been given the tool to stop the enemy, and to help establish peace in the world. Now is the time to double down and pray the Rosary with all our hearts! We may also be part of that heavenly intervention!!

St. John Paul II, pray for us!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 11, 2018 Reflection - Our Last day in Medjugorje!

The sky over Medjugorje after a rain shower!
(c)Mary TV 2018

October 11, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!
Today is our last full day in Medjugorje!  How quickly the time passes here, where there is so much life and love.  I have a few pictures to share from the past days.  Denis and I were able to attend the Evening Program this week!  It is a life-giving experience to pray with all the people, together in one voice, though with many languages.  Even when it rains, the prayer continues!!

We also have been going to Eucharistic Adoration each afternoon, in the small chapel near the church!  From 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm there are people in adoration of Jesus.  Awesome!!!

The next few pictures were taken yesterday morning, as Denis and I walked from our pension to Apparition Hill.  We walked through the fields, which are still so natural and quiet.

God's peace is in nature here!

I probably will not have time tonight to send a reflection. I wish I could tell you all the miracles and graces we have received during our two weeks in Medjugorje.  They are left for another time.  But be assured that your prayers for us have been answered in wonderful ways.  Our Lady is truly present here.  She has a mission that is being enacted from Medjugorje, to change the world.  And she is doing it!

October 2, 2007 "Dear children, I call you to accompany me in my mission of God with an open heart and complete trust. The path on which I lead you towards God is difficult, but persistent and in the end we will all rejoice in God. Therefore, my children, do not stop praying for the gift of faith. Only faith in God's Word will be the light in this darkness which desires to envelop us. Do not be afraid, I am with you. Thank you."

Thank you and God bless you all!!

Mary TV: October 10, 2018 Reflection - Sound teaching about apparitions

(c)Mary TV 2018
Medjugorje!

October 10, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

Often Fr. Leon will give a little talk before English Mass, which we call a "Sanctuary Snippet!" (You can listen to all the Snippets here:  https://marytv.tv/sanctuary-snippets-2/  ) He does short teachings that help us in our spiritual life.  The Snippet for yesterday, October 9, was so helpful!  He answered several objections to Medjugorje as an apparition site.  We all encounter people who are cautious or even afraid of Medjugorje.  Fr. Leon's points will help us to allay their fears.  Medjugorje is a grace for our time!

Fr. Leon's Snippet for October 9, 2018:

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today I thought I would talk to you about possible objections to Medjugorje.  Some of the objections that people come up with (these are the sort of things you hear or have already heard, or maybe you have these objections yourself...):

One of the things people say is that you cannot go to an unapproved apparition site. You cannot go to an unapproved apparitions site.  Well, what happened at Lourdes.  Lourdes took four years to be approved, Fatima took fifteen years to be approved.  When they were approved the bishops said that one of the reasons they were approved was the continual numbers of people who were coming there while it was still not approved.  So that is one of the signs that the Church looks for.  So to say that you cannot go to a place that is not approved yet is not true.

Then people say that the apparitions at Medjugorje have gone on too long. OK, how long is too long?  In Laus in France, the apparitions went on for 54 years, daily apparitions.  Fatima, we know that Sr. Lucia continued to have apparitions for 88 years!  OK? So how long is too long?
Then they say that the approval is too slow in coming.  Champion in Wisconsin to 151 years to be approved, Laus in France took 344 years.  So the average number of years for Marian Apparitions Sites for approval is 64.8 years.  Here in Medjugorje we are near 37 years, so we have another 27.8 years to go before we are average.

Then  people say there is a danger in going to a place like Medjugorje.  This is true.  According to Archbishop Leonard of Brussels.  He said there are two dangers in going to Medjugorje.

Number 1.  The first danger in going to Medjugorje is that it may be false.  And if it is false we are all in danger of being deceived.  If we are being deceived, we are being deceived into what?  Praying the Rosary every day from the heart, going to Mass every day, going to confession once a month, reading our Bibles, fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Oh happy deception, I wish the whole world were deceived in this way.

Number 2.  Then he says there is a greater danger to Medjugorje.  This is the danger of "What if it is true?"  Because then it is a grace from God, and how have we responded to it?  So that is the greater danger!

Then people say, "Oh the visionaries lives.  If I had seen the Mother of God, I would have become a monk or nun or something."  Then you have to ask yourselves, why haven't I become a monk or nun, its not too late!  I have a habit in your size.  Now this a I call, Vauzou syndrome.  I name it after the novice mistress of St. Bernadette.  Sr. Vauzou said, "Why would the Mother of God appear to an illiterate, uneducated sister?  She should have appeared to a marvelous, fantastic, clever person like me."

Now think about La Salette.  In La Salette, which is an approved apparition, the two visionaries were hounded by the public and they both went off the rails.  Melanie, the girl, joined four different orders and she died outside all of them, dispensed from her vows.  Maximin, the boy, was thrown out of high school.  Then thrown out of medical school, then tried to be a soldier and failed at that. Tried to train as a pharmacist, and later lent his name to a man who made liquor, and they called it "Visionary Liquor".  He was swindled out of a lot of money.  Then he died, penniless, alcoholic and in a ditch, alone. But he was a real visionary.  So don't confuse being a visionary with being a saint.  This is a good reason why we should leave them alone and not hound them.

Finally, two last things.

People say Our Lady doesn't make appointments to appear, because here she appears at 5:40 every day.  What did she do in history, well we know at Guadalupe she said to come back tomorrow, same time and same place.  Fatima, come back every 13th of the month, same time, same place.  Lourdes: "Will you do me the great grace of coming here every day for 15 days." So from this we see that Mary is perfectly capable of making appointments.

And finally, people complain that it is the same message, over and over.  This is submit to all the mothers here.  You know if you repeat yourself, obviously you must be fake. So to all the mothers here, how many times do you tell your children to come down to dinner?   How many times do you tell them to clean their rooms?  Just once? Because if you repeat yourself you must be fake.
Ok, if Our Lady has to repeat herself it means that we are bad children!
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!  Amen.
June 25, 2007 "Dear children! Also today, with great joy in my heart, I call you to conversion. Little children, do not forget that you are all important in this great plan, which God leads through Medjugorje. God desires to convert the entire world and to call it to salvation and to the way towards Himself, who is the beginning and the end of every being. In a special way, little children, from the depth of my heart, I call you all to open yourselves to this great grace that God gives you through my presence here. I desire to thank each of you for the sacrifices and prayers. I am with you and I bless you all. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Mary TV: October 9, 2018 Reflection - Mary has chosen the better part...

Prayer at the Risen Christ Statue - Oct. 7!  Powerful!

October 9, 2018
St. Denis

Dear Family of Mary!
I have been a little sick the past few days, and so I haven't been able to keep up with the reflections.  I am sorry.  But there has been a gift in it.  I have had a little more time to pray!!

The Gospel today adds some light:

Jesus entered a village
where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary
who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
"Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me."
The Lord said to her in reply,
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her."

The better part!  Time with Jesus in prayer is always the better part.  I see people all over Medjugorje enjoying the better part.  Prayer.  Prayer. Prayer...

Know that I will be praying for all of you as we enjoy our last few days in Medjugorje.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

PS.  We made an attempt to climb Apparition Hill with Franjo on Friday, and only got to Second Station due to rain.  But it was worth it!  Here he explains the power of the Visitation.  Indeed, Medjugorje is a new Visitation for all of us.  "How is it that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"

Mary TV: October 5, 2018 Message (Ivan's prayer group)

Ivan's prayer group at the Blue Cross (Oct. 5, 2018)
Thanks to Steve D!!!

October 5, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

Ivan shared his encounter with Our Lady, occurring at 10pm (October 5) at the Blue Cross in Medjugorje.  Here is what he shared:

Our Lady spoke:

"My children,  also today in a special way I desire to call you in this time of grace to complete surrender to my Son. Open yourselves to Him, open your hearts  that you may be able to receive grace. I intercede for all of you before my Son.  Dear children, pray, pray, pray.  And open yourselves in prayer.  Thank you also today for having responded to my call."

Our Lady came to us also today very joyful and happy. As always she greeted all of us with her motherly greeting, "Praised be Jesus, my dear children."  For a while she prayed over all of us here with her arms extended.  She blessed all of us with her motherly blessing.

She blessed everything that you brought to be blessed. And after that she prayed for peace - for peace in the family.  And then after that she left in the illuminated sign of the Cross with the words "Go in peace, my dear children."

Mary TV: October 5, 2018 Reflection - St. Faustina teaches us about strength

The Eucharist is the heart of faith!
(c)Anthony Zubac

October 5, 2018
Saint Maria Faustina

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children, I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary..." (October 2, 2018)

Our Lady knows that of on our own steam, we have only limited courage and minimal strength.  She also did not have superhuman strength or courage.  We creatures are limited.  But there is a source of strength, a source of faith so powerful that nothing can overcome it.  There is One who has unlimited courage and strength.  And He is our Savior, the One who died for us and Who lives for us and with us now.  Jesus!!

Our Lady lived in complete union with Jesus, and she found her strength in Him.  The Saints also found that strength, as they grew in union with Jesus.  St. Faustina, whose feast day it is today, lived completely on the love of Jesus, and His presence in her life.  She wrote in her diary about the wonderful strength she received from Jesus:
"O my Jesus, You alone know what persecutions I suffer, and this only because I am being faithful to You and following Your orders. You are my strength; sustain me that I may always carry out what You ask of me. Of myself I can do nothing, but when You sustain me, all difficulties are nothing for me. O my Lord, I can see very well that from the time when my soul first received the capacity to know You, my life has been a continual struggle which has become increasingly intense.

"Every morning during meditation, I prepare myself for the whole day's struggle. Holy Communion assures me that I will win the victory; and so it is. I fear the day when I do not receive Holy Communion. This Bread of the Strong gives me all the strength I need to carry on my mission and the courage to do whatever the Lord asks of me. The courage and strength that are in me are not of me, but of Him who lives in me - it is the Eucharist.

"O my Jesus, the misunderstandings are so great; sometimes, were it not for the Eucharist, I would not have the courage to go any further along the way You have marked out for me." (St. Faustina's Diary, 91)

It is the Eucharistic Lord Jesus who was the secret to St. Faustina's strength and courage to carry on the mission of Divine Mercy.  Jesus in the Eucharist sustained her, minute by minute.  We are given the very same Jesus, present in the Eucharist at Holy Communion.  And He wants to sustain and strengthen us, giving us courage every day.  Our Lady has told us much about this gift of strength and love that awaits us in our reception of Jesus:
"If receiving my Son in the Eucharist is the center of your life then do not be afraid, you can do everything." (June 2, 2012)

"The Church needs apostles who by living the Eucharist with the heart do great works; it needs you, my apostles of love. My children, from the very beginning the Church was persecuted and betrayed, but day by day it grew. It is indestructible because my Son gave it a heart - the Eucharist, and the light of His resurrection shone and will continue to shine upon it. Therefore, do not be afraid." (December 2, 2015)

"Do not forget that in the Eucharist, which is the heart of faith, my Son is always with you. He comes to you and breaks bread with you; because, my children, for your sake He died, He resurrected and is coming anew." (May 2, 2016)

"But, my children, do not forget that the Eucharist is the heart of faith. This is my Son who feeds you with His Body and strengthens you with His Blood. This is a miracle of love: my Son who always comes anew, alive, to bring life back to souls." (May 2, 2018)

Here in Medjugorje, the Eucharist is the center of everything.  Our Lady has built a beautiful place of prayer, centered on her Son.  I am headed to Eucharistic Adoration right now, where I will pray for all of you.  The answer to all the troubles in our time is found in Adoration of Jesus, and reception of Jesus in Holy Communion!  We have the key!!!  Let's rejoice!!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 4, 2018 Reflection - Another Day in Medjugorje

(At English Mass, sitting outside, I felt such peace and looked up to see this gentle image in a cloud hovering over us.  It looks like an angel to me.  Such a nice sign of God's love!!)

October 4, 2018
St. Francis of Assisi

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children, I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary, because even the smallest good-the smallest sign of love-conquers evil which is all the more visible..." (October 2, 2018)

Our Lady is speaking to her children very directly and on our level.  She does not ask us to carry out huge works or take on anything beyond our capacity.  She calls us to do "the smallest good - the smallest sign of love".  These small deeds of love and good are our part in the destruction of evil.  They are our means in the battle against the enemy of mankind.

Truly we will need courage.  Because doing small acts of kindness and goodness require us to put our own comfort or safety second, and to step out in faith.  But really they are much less difficult than they seem.  The enemy always makes us feel weary and inadequate when we contemplate a good act.  This is the time of battle, when we defeat him.  When in our little lives, in our own little situations, we choose to do the good, no matter how small, for our family member or neighbor, our spouse or our child.  We choose to put our own needs second, and do that which can be done for another.
We may not always think of our struggle to do the good as a way to defeat evil, but truly, how else can the enemy of our souls be defeated, but by one act at a time, one choice at a time for the good?  We are in a battle from the moment we are born, in a war for souls.  Our prayers, our choices and our deeds are where the battle is played out.  One person at a time, we take on darkness with our little lights.  Little lights that add up!
I am seeing this very much here in Medjugorje.  There are thousands of pilgrims here in Medjugorje.  We are all here because of Our Lady.  She is the one who called us and who is with us here.  And we are all learning, one at a time, how to choose the good.  How to live the good.  How to be signs of love in our own families and communities.  It is a grand plan that Our Lady has designed in order to build a strong basis of faith in the world.
Let's all be encouraged today by this word from Our Lady.  May courage grow in our hearts, as we see that the task is not too big for us, that in our own small ways we can smote the enemy with our small acts of goodness, with our small signs of love for others.
Tuesday night we welcomed the rest of our team to Medjugorje!!  The work began almost immediately!! New wireless communications, new cameras, better wifi for our streaming.  Well it is awesome!  Here are a couple of pictures:

Mary TV: October 2, 2018 Message from Our Lady

(c)Anthony Zubac

October 2, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!
The October 2nd, 2018 from Our Lady

Dear children, I am calling you to be courageous and to not grow weary, because even the smallest good-the smallest sign of love-conquers evil which is all the more visible. My children, listen to me so that good may overcome, so that you may come to know the love of my Son. This is the greatest happiness-the hands of my Son that embrace, of Him who loves the soul, of Him who has given Himself for you and is always giving Himself anew in the Eucharist, of Him who has the words of eternal life. To come to know His love, to follow in His footsteps, means to have a wealth of spirituality. This is the wealth which gives good feelings and sees love and goodness everywhere.

Apostles of my love, my children, be like the rays of the sun which with the warmth of my Son's love warm everyone around them. My children, the world needs apostles of love; the world needs much prayer, but prayer spoken with the heart and the soul and not only pronounced with the lips. My children, long for holiness but in humility, in the humility which permits my Son to do that which He desires through you.

My children, your prayers, your words, thoughts and actions-all of this either opens or closes the doors to the Kingdom of Heaven for you. My Son showed you the way and gave you hope, and I am consoling and encouraging you because, my children, I had come to know pain, but I had faith and hope. Now I have the reward of life in the Kingdom of my Son. Therefore, listen to me, have courage and do not grow weary.
Thank you.

Mary TV: October 2, 2018 Reflection - An Awesome Homily in Medjugorje

(c)Anthony Zubac

October 2, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

Let me share with you the homily of October 1, 2018 at English Mass in Medjugorje.  It is awesome!!!

English Mass Homily - October 1, 2018- Medjugorje:

For the past sixty years or more the Catholic Church has been suffering from a massive inferiority complex.  We have looked at the modern secular liberal world, and it looks so bright and shiny, so in touch and so cool, and then we look at the Catholic Church and it looks so old and shabby and out of touch. And as a result of that we have lost confidence in  the Church.  We have lost confidence in the Gospel that we preach.  We ave lost confidence in the salvation we proclaim we have lost confidence in the hope we offering to the world.  How this massive inferiority complex, this loss of confidence has come about is a story for another day.

For today I just want to look at a few symptoms of this dreadful loss of confidence. And the first thing we always look at is the teaching of the Church.   There has been a huge neglect and even a perversion of the teaching of the Church.  The Church is founded on the teaching of Christ, on the Revelation of Christ, and if we pervert that then we pervert the whole Church and its mission.  And yet that has happened over and over again.  We have diverted the teaching of the Church, we have watered it down.  And if we have watered down the teaching of the Church then it is no longer the Teaching of the Church.  It is a fake gospel.

There are various ways of watering down the Church's teaching.  We can focus on the nice pieces.  And neglect the difficult parts, the tough parts.  The parts that say we must keep the Ten Commandments.  The parts that say "Pick up your cross and follow me."  The parts that say that every one of us faces judgment when we die.  The parts that say we are called to eternal salvation but we can also reject that call.  We want to make people feel good.  And so we focus on the nice parts.

But there are some who go even farther.  There are some who even twist the teaching of the Church.  Who proclaim their own opinions rather than the teaching of the Church.  Bishops and priests who do that are not just bad shepherds, they are wolves in sheep's clothing.  It is the Gospel as it is given to us by Christ and as it is handed on in the teaching of the Church that will save us.  Nothing else.  But because we want to be like the world and liked by the world then we turn away from that teaching.

We look at vast numbers of people who have given up the practice of the Catholic faith.  Many of them in our own families.  How could people who really believe in the Gospel, who really believe that the Gospel is good news, how could they give up the practice of the faith?  How could they fail to hand it on to their children?

I hear people say, "Oh the young people today, they don't go to Mass and they don't practice the faith, but they are really good people."  If they are not going to Mass, if they are not worshiping God, if they are not handing down the faith to their children, then they are not good people.  How can people not hand down the faith to their own little children?

So this is a massive loss of faith.  And what has the response of the Church been?  A shrug.  This is the age of the shrug.  What can we do about it?  Where is the strategy for going after the lost sheep?  And even if they don't want to be found, we still have to go after them.  And each one of us is called to be a shepherd.

Another symptom of our loss of confidence is the neglect of the mission of the Church. There are billions of people in this world who have never even heard of Christ.  So why isn't the Church on fire to bring the Gospel to them?  Why are we saying that it doesn't matter?  It does matter.  Salvation matters.  We have to become a missionary church once again.

So many of our missionaries ended up talking about development, about justice and peace, about the environment, about the creation, whatever, and those things are good.  But ultimately it is salvation that matters.  It is getting to heaven that matters. It is proclaiming Jesus Christ, risen from the dead that matters.

We talk about a great shortage of priests in the Church at the present time.  Is it any wonder there is a shortage of priests.  Why would any young fellow want to join an outfit that doesn't even believe in itself.  Or doesn't believe in it's own mission.  If we want to have vocations then we need to regain confidence in what we are about, and then the issue of vocations will take care of itself.

So many of our Catholic institutions are no longer Catholic. They are Catholic in name only.  So Many of our Catholic schools are Catholic in name only.  So many of the Catholic Schools are not handing down the faith to the children.  They are betraying the parents who send their children for a Catholic education.  So many of our Catholic organizations have become "do good" organizations.  They have lost the sense of their mission.  So many of our Catholic hospitals are no longer Catholic.  In Ireland a number of Catholic Hospitals have said that they will kill unborn babies.  What kind of a Catholic Hospital is that?? That would cave in so easily to such a dreadful evil.

Each one of us is called to be a missionary.  We are called to proclaim the Gospel to the whole world.  Beginning in our own families.  In recent times we have used the word "evangelization" a lot.  We talk about "new evangelization" , "re-evangelization", and so on.  Well that's fine.  But I think we need to get back to the word "mission." The mission of the Church.  That the whole church has a mission.  That the Catholic family has a mission.  The Catholic schools have a mission.  They don't just have an ethos, they have a mission.  The Catholic hospitals and Catholic voluntary organizations all have a mission.  We are called to be missionaries.

We celebrate today the memorial of Saint Therese of Lisieux.  This wee, sick nun who was enclosed her whole life - the Church makes her the patron saint of the missions.  What She is doing there is telling all of us that each and every one of us is called to be a missionary.  None of us is excused from that.

There are many other symptoms of this loss of faith. The question is where do we go from here.  The first thing is that it is holiness that renews the Church.  Changing structures, setting up pastoral councils, changing the curia, all of that is useless in the long run if we have not got saints.  It is holiness, it is the life of the risen Christ that reforms and renews the Church.  So each one of us is called to be a saint.

Each one of us is called to think like a Catholic.  We can't live in this poisonous environment without being affected by it, and so we need to decontaminate our own mind.  To get back to thinking like a Catholic in everything.  To living like a Catholic in everything.  We don't need to be impressed by the modern, secular world.  It is a poisonous ideology.  Secularism.  It is an ideology of destruction.  It is an anti-life ideology.  It is an ideology of hopelessness.  And ultimately it is a mad ideology.  An irrational ideology.  Why would we be impressed by that?  We have been given the Gospel to proclaim to the whole world.

Each one of us need to realize we have been called to be missionaries.  We need to get back to being faithful to the teaching of the Church, to proclaiming the teaching of the Faith, the Teaching of the Gospel.

There is a philosopher, one of the greatest philosophers of the last three or four hundred years.  A guy named Alystair McIntyre.  He is an elderly man now.  McIntyre was born in Scotland.  He grew up as a Presbyterian.  And then throughout his life he went through all kinds of changes.  He was a Marxist for a while.  And eventually he became a Catholic.  And someone asked him on one occasion, "Are you a Catholic in the traditional, orthodox sense?"  And he said, "That is the only sense."  In other words, we are either traditional, orthodox Catholics or we are not Catholics, whatever else we may be.

We have to get our own hearts and minds centered on Christ.   We come to Medjugorje and we meet each other.  And we say, "Oh, is this your first time here?"  "Oh no, how many times have you been here, five, fifteen, twenty five, whatever."  And that's grand.  no problem at all with that.  But then we have to go beyond that, and ask people, "Has Medjugorje made you a missionary?"  "Have the messages of Our Lady made you a missionary?"  "Have the homilies at Mass here made you a missionary?" "Have the visits to apparition Hill, the Blue Cross, and Cross Mountain made you a missionary?"  And if they have, then praise God.  But if they have not, then we have still not gotten the message of Medjugorje.

Tomorrow will be the message!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
