From Loretta Young to Mother Angelica, from classical guitar to a concert by a young woman formerly known as the Croatian Madonna, you do not want to miss a moment of our Mother’s Day marathon! Here are a few of the Mother’s Day special airing on Sunday, May 8:

“World’s Greatest Mother:” This half-hour special, dedicated to Our Lady as the model of mothers, stars Loretta Young, Ethel Barrymore, Ruth Hussey, and Gene Lockhart with solos by Ann Blyth, Nan Merriman and Ann Jamison. This wonderful walk down memory lane airs at 6:30 a.m. ET.
“Mother Angelica’s Teaching Series on Heaven:” In this seven-part series, which will air in its entirety throughout the day, Mother talks about what life in heaven will be like, the secrets that will be revealed there, what we will do when we are there, the kinds of relationships we will enjoy, how the faithful will experience music, beauty and knowledge there, when our souls will be reunited with our bodies, and much more. The one-hour episodes will air at 10 a.m. ET, 11 a.m. ET, 2:30 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. ET, 8 p.m. ET, 9 p.m. ET, and 10 p.m. ET.
“John DeChiaro Presents: Peace:” If you enjoy classical guitar, you may want to tape this half-hour special, which airs at 1:30 p.m. ET, and play it during a romantic candlelight dinner.
“Tajci: Let It Be:” You’ve probably heard Croatian singer Tatiana’s (Tajci) special concerts during Lent or Christmas, so you know how beautiful her voice is. But this unique made-for-television musical concert. which is comprised of songs dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, will touch the hearts of everyone who loves Our Lady. The half-hour concert airs at 2 p.m. ET.
“Joy of Music: Tribute to Mothers:” This half-hour special features a series of concerts in which Diane Bish pays tribute to her own mother and to mothers around the world. Airs 3:30 a.m. ET.
Also, on Mother’s Day, you may want to tape Bob and Penny Lord’s “St. Michael Claims a Cave, Mountain & Grotto” at 3 a.m. ET. Travel by arm-chair to St. Michael’s Cave in Garano, Italy; Mont St. Michel in Normandy, France; and San Miguel del Milagro in Mexico.

EWTN Radio Network Fans

Finally, we have good news for fans of the EWTN Radio Network. In the first quarter of 2011, the Network added 13 new affiliates in eight different states including Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana (3), North Dakota (2), New York, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia (3).
