If you have always wondered what Pope Pius XII really did to fight Nazism during World War II, you do not want to miss EWTN's new movie, "Pius XII: Under the Roman Sky." This Italian film, with an outstanding international cast, will have you on the edge of your seat. Part One of this gripping four-hour film, airs 9 p.m. ET, Wednesday, June 19, immediately following an 8 p.m. ET "EWTN Live" interview with Pope Pius XII Scholar Ronald Rychlak. Part Two airs 1 p.m. ET, Wednesday, June 26.

In addition, EWTN will air "Pius XII and the Holocaust: The Secret History of Great Rescue" at 11 p.m. ET, Wednesday, June 19, as well as a 12-part series, "Pope Pius XII," with Rychlak and Sister Margherita Marchione. (Airs 6:30 p.m. ET, Monday, June 17 through Tuesday, July 2 (except no 6:30 airing on Monday, June 24.)

"Pius XII: Under the Roman Sky" is a movie that is rendered all the more exciting because of the truths it exposes. The film takes place in occupied Rome in 1943. The Nazis are continuing to deport thousands of Jews to death camps even as Allied troops are marching toward the city to liberate it. The life of a lovely young Jewish girl, who is being courted by two very different young men, and her family are at stake.
Meanwhile, the Pope is opening up churches and monasteries to shelter the Jews and working behind the scenes to save as many as he can. Although, some are urging him to publicly condemn the Nazis, the Pope knows that protests by Catholic bishops in the Netherlands resulted in the immediate execution of tens of thousands of Jews. Is he to risk even greater reprisals in the Nazi-occupied nations?
