It was very cold, but despite the cold, the thousands who had gathered were very joyful. Having just been to the mountain the night before, with Ivan, during a special prayer group apparition, most only had a few hours sleep before waking, dressing and heading back to Apparition Mountain for Mirjana’s second of the month apparition—a beautiful grace.

Mirjana felt that she could say to Our Lady: “We have all come to you with our sufferings and crosses. Help us, we implore you.” Our Lady extended Her hands towards us and said:

ur Lady is coming to prepare us for eternity, an eternity which we will enter according to what and how we live upon the earth. Our life upon earth is but a speck of time in our existence. The embryonic period that births us at the moment of leaving the womb of earthly life is the passageway to the eternal life we destined for ourselves within this speck of time. We, therefore, are very little children in age, even if 70 or 80-years-old. Your soul, at the moment of time upon the earth, is at the beginning of its existence because your soul will exist throughout eternity. Our Lady is coming to make us understand and comprehend that what we ‘think’ earthly life is for—self-indulgence, to be entertained, live for self– is really a path of darkness, placing you in the family of the devil, to be born into eternity with him as your father. For so many, this is the spiritual realm they choose, in freedom, to walk throughout their embryonic life upon earth. Before your death, if you wish to follow Our Lady, in the womb of this life on earth you must realize God’s will and walk that path. That path leads to another direction. There are only two paths to eternity. One is joining the family of God. The second is joining the family of satan. This is of particular importance for non-believers whose problems stem from not knowing the love of God, the knowledge of which is gained through the ‘unity’ of family. Widespread divorce has crippled many souls in comprehending what the family of God is. Therefore, they do not discover the Father who is Truth. This is the disease destroying the world.
Our Lady comes because She understands our dilemma, in this uniquely special and particular time.

Materialism, consumerism and selfishness has led to the break-up of family. Because of this, Our Lady has come to help us through our resulting sufferings, to put us on the singular path that is narrow, but the only path to join the family of God. While this is a narrow path, the path to eternal life in the family of satan, of which you can also belong through the spiritual freedom to choose while upon the earth, is a very wide path and easy to walk. Scripture tells us of this path.
Matthew 7:13-14
“Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
Our Lady comes, therefore, to put clearly before us the truth, the realization we are created for and destined for the family of God. Our Lady shows this in Her message:
1. Understand you are in the family of God.
2. You have to become aware of truth.
3. To stay part of the family of God, you must choose to live in the family of God.
4. The choice of following the narrow path to remain in God’s family vs. the wide path to perdition, joining satan’s family, is made by following the Mother’s wisdom, through Her words and maternal care. Though a narrow path, Our Lady’s way of life widens the narrow path, making it wider than the path to perdition.
It should be understood, therefore, that Our Lady’s importance in coming is not realized by most, even in the lives of Medjugorje followers. As difficult as life is here, as Mirjana stated in the apparition today to Our Lady, referring to “our sufferings and crosses,” our life is going to undergo a radical change compared to the present culture. Life is about to be transformed to put people on the path of God’s family, a path of peace, yet it will be extremely difficult for those upon the earth. It will be a very difficult transition. Many will have woeful, bitter regrets and great remorse for what they could have done in the time of grace, but did not. Life, as we know it, will change in a blink of an eye. Nothing will be the same upon the earth. Everything will be different.
Fr. Walter Ciszek is an American priest who went to Poland just before World War II. He ended up in Russia for 23 years, most of that time in a Siberian prison camp, in situations humanly unbearable. He suffered from incredible cold, without adequate clothing, starvation, doing more work than if he were a slave. What enabled him to survive was the knowledge that he was in the family of God. Fr. Ciszek writes how quick life changed for him.
“It is impossible to describe the feeling that comes over you at such a time. The feeling that somehow, in an instant of time, everything is changed and nothing again will ever be quite the same. That tomorrow will never again be like yesterday. That the very trees, the grass, the air, the daylight are no longer the same, for the world has changed. It is a feeling impossible to describe, and yet one that every wife who has lost a husband knows well, one that every child who has tasted evil for the first time or faced a sudden crisis has experienced. It is that feeling that leaves the heart saying, ‘Oh, if only I could turn back the clock to before it happened, if only it had never happened, if only I had it to do over again.’” 1
Fr. Ciszek’s words tell us what awaits most of the world for not heeding what Our Lady is showing us, for there will come a time of deep regret and lamentation.

The messages are the manual for this transition where everything will change. You have a choice to make – to whose family will you belong? Changing your direction through your behavior will tell of the family you belong – the royal family or that of the tribe of demons. You, in truth, really choose the eternal life you are destined for when you are born out of this life, through the freedom of choice God gives to you as a gift. However, you begin that eternity—living the royal family life of peace and harmony or the demonic family life of strife and discord—in this life. The times are too grave to make a bad choice. Eternal damnation, the ultimate waste, is the easier choice. Our Lady tells you to join Her, that it will be easier with Her, and it will go well for you.

Not even the winter cold keeps pilgrims from journeying from around the world to be present with Our Lady at Mirjana’s apparition on the second of the month. This morning, January 2, 2011, pilgrims surround Mirjana in their winter coats, scarves and hats amidst a grey overcast sky, yet there is no expression on their faces that the weather is a concern or inconvenience. Their single thought is of the joy and the grace of being with their Heavenly Mother.
These are the last sequence of pictures before the end of Our Lady’s apparition. Though we cannot literally match the pictures with the sequence of Our Lady’s words to Mirjana, the expressions on Mirjana’s face lend us to imagine that in the first picture, Mirjana is interceding for all those who are carrying heavy sufferings and crosses with great hope and confidence in her face as one who has learned the goodness of the One before her. In the second picture, the concentrated look that Mirjana has whenever she is receiving words from Our Lady, and finally, Mirjana watching, with her head tilted up, Our Lady slowly ascend back to Heaven. The expression of her face seems to say, we will be helped in carrying our sufferings and crosses, but they are still for us to carry. Mirjana, like all the visionaries, receive all the sorrows of those who come to Medjugorje. So many broken hearts and families; so many people in situations where they can find no exit. It is a heavy burden to carry, and no doubt what spurred Mirjana to implore Our Lady’s help.
A large Korean group spent a cold night on the mountain to be near to Our Lady for Her apparition to Mirjana, January 2, 2011. They had climbed the mountain the night before with thousands of other pilgrims to be present at Ivan’s prayer group apparition, which took place just after 10:00p.m. on top of Apparition Mountain, and then came down to find a spot at the Blue Cross. It was a beautiful gift to Our Lady to spend the night in prayer in the cold, but the greater gift was to be in the presence of Our Lady at the end of one day, and to receive Her again the very next morning.
A young priest is among the thousands at Mirjana’s apparition today, January 2, 2011. It, no doubt, will be a memory of a lifetime to have been in Medjugorje when Our Lady specifically mentions vocations and the priesthood, as She did in Ivan’s mountain apparition on January 1, New Year’s Day, 2011. During Mirjana’s apparition, Our Lady again, speaks of priests, emphasizing the importance of a priest’s blessing. What a time of grace we are living in to have Our Lady, in Her person, returning to the earth, and calling men to the priesthood of Her Son—giving them guidance, encouragement, and strength and especially the support of Her own prayers.
