Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children,  I, your mother, am coming anew among you out of love which has no end, from endless love of the endless Heavenly Father. And as I am looking into your hearts I see that many of you accept me as a mother and, with sincere and pure hearts, you desire to be my apostles. But, I am also the mother of those of you who do not accept me and who, in the hardness of your hearts, do not desire to come to know the love of my Son. And you do not know how much my heart suffers and how much I pray to my Son for you. I pray to Him to heal your souls because He can do so.  I pray to Him to illuminate you with the miracle of the Holy Spirit so that you may stop, always anew, betraying, cursing and wounding Him. With all my heart I pray for you to understand that only my Son is the salvation and the light of the world. And you, my children, my dear apostles, always carry my Son in your hearts and thoughts. In this way you are carrying love. All those who do not know Him will recognize Him in your love. I am always beside you. In a special way I am beside your shepherds because my Son has called them to lead you on the way to eternity. Thank you, my apostles, for your sacrifice and love." (September 2, 2014)

When I think of the endless love of the endless Heavenly Father, I feel like swooning. How can we imagine a God who wants to be our father, and who longs to give us endless love? How can we fathom it? Our Lady has been trying to get it through our thick skulls! But we just don't seem to get it. Today let us ponder this mystery with the help of a Litany to Divine Mercy that St. Faustina wrote in her diary. She got it! And she was given the task of witnessing to it. She did a great job!

Let the doubting soul read these considerations on Divine Mercy and become trusting.171

Divine Mercy, gushing forth from the bosom of the Father, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, greatest attribute of God, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, incomprehensible mystery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, fount gushing forth from the mystery of the Most Blessed Trinity, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed by any intellect, human or angelic, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, from which wells forth all life and happiness, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, better than the heavens, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of miracles and wonders, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, encompassing the whole universe, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, descending to earth in the Person of the Incarnate Word, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, which flowed out from the open wound of the Heart of Jesus, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, enclosed in the Heart of Jesus for us, and especially for sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in the institution of the Sacred Host, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the founding of Holy Church, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in our justification through Jesus Christ, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us through our whole life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing us especially at the hour of death, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, endowing us with immortal life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, accompanying us every moment of our life, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, shielding us from the fire of hell, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy in the conversion of hardened sinners, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy astonishment for Angels, incomprehensible to Saints, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, unfathomed in all the mysteries of God, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, lifting us out of every misery, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, source of our happiness and joy, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in calling us forth from nothingness to existence, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, embracing all the works of His hands, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, crown of all of God's handiwork, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, in which we are all immersed, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, sweet relief for anguished hearts, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, only hope of despairing souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, repose of hearts, peace amidst fear, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, delight and ecstasy of holy souls, I trust in You.
Divine Mercy, inspiring hope against all hope, I trust in You.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

O incomprehensible and limitless Mercy Divine,
To extol and adore You worthily, who can?
Supreme attribute of Almighty God,
You are the sweet hope for sinful man.
Into one hymn yourselves unite, stars, earth and sea,
and in one accord, thankfully and fervently sing of the incomprehensible Divine Mercy.
(St. Faustina's Diary, 949-951)

These Stone Walls: The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption and the Crime of Innocence s
Does The Shawshank Redemption depict life in a real prison? It’s a common question from readers of These Stone Walls. How a prison film became a cable TV classic.

Andy Dufresne and Father Gordon MacRae went to prison at the same time one September day twenty years ago. Please, share this moving account of "The Shawshank Redemption and the Crime of Innocence."

Dear Family of Mary,

"Dear children,  I, your mother, am coming anew among you out of love which has no end, from endless love of the endless Heavenly Father. And as I am looking into your hearts I see that many of you accept me as a mother and, with sincere and pure hearts, you desire to be my apostles. On the very day this message was given, Fr. Dominic Towey gave the homily at English Mass at St. James. I think the Holy Spirit was speaking through him. He spoke directly to one of the reasons some people "do not desire to come to know the love of [Our Lady's] Son." They even are "betraying, cursing and wounding Him." The occult has grown to huge proportions in our world, and it has disguised itself as harmless "fun" or healing. But it is not harmless. Let Fr. Towey explain:

Fr. Dominic Towey - Homily in St. James Church, English Mass September 2, 2014

I'd like to begin by telling you a little story about a Church of Scotland Minister. He came out one Sunday flashing new dentures. But he only preached for 7 minutes because the dentures were hurting him. And the following Sunday they weren't quite as bad so he preached for 10 minutes. And the following Sunday he got up and after 1 hour and 20 minutes two of the elders came up and removed him from the pulpit. They said "You know, minister, last week you only preached for 10 minutes and the week before for 7, what's the matter today?" "Well," he said, "You know I got new teeth, new dentures, and they were hurting me, but this morning when I was leaving I made a mistake and put in my wife's dentures instead." Well you don't have to worry because I don't have a wife so I didn't get my dentures mixed up!

The readings today put before us good and evil. We see Jesus going into Capernaum, a place where he had spent a lot of his public ministry. The town that was the home of the first pope, Pope Peter. And he goes there and he encounters evil. He meets a person who is possessed. And the person recognizes Jesus and he says "I know who you are, have you come to destroy us?" And Jesus says, "Be quiet and come out of him." And there was amazement for all who were looking on because Jesus was speaking with tremendous authority. He was speaking with a newness, a freshness. And they were amazed. Even unclean spirits obey him.

And today as we look around us, we see the power at work in the world. We see the evil of war. The evil that sometimes comes about because of people seeking power. We see the evil because of the destruction of the child in the womb, legally being killed by so many countries through abortion. We see the evil of the whole breakdown of morality. And yet in the first reading we have St. Paul telling us that we have within us the Spirit of God, the Spirit that can reach into the very depths of God himself. That is the Spirit we have received. And that Spirit is given to us in what I think is the most forgotten Sacrament. The Sacrament of Confirmation. There we receive new life, we receive the very power of God. We receive the very same Spirit that came upon Jesus at his Baptism. The very same Spirit that he speaks about in the synagogue in Nazareth. "The Spirit of the Lord has been given to Me, for He has sent Me to bring good news to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken, to proclaim a year of favor for the Lord." That is the Spirit, my dear brothers and sisters, which you and I have within us.

And you know it is very easy for us to look at all the bad things that are happening in the world and say it is terrible, but we have to look into our own hearts, and that is what Our Lady calls us to do when we come to this beautiful shrine. To look into our own hearts, because St. Paul tells us that nobody knows the heart of man, except himself. Nobody knows the heart of a person except himself. And Satan is very, very cunning. And today we see so many "good" Catholics who have been lured away to falsehood. Lured to things like séances, horoscopes and spiritual meetings. I have met so many people who have been totally broken because they have gone along to spiritual meetings trying to raise the spirits of a deceased relative or friend. This is playing with fire. There should be no place in the life of a Catholic for dabbling in any way in the occult.

And we see how far that road can take people. We have only to look at the campuses of America, where black masses are taking place. Where the very Person, the most precious Gift that we have, the Gift of the Eucharist has been desecrated in those terrible ceremonies. And I am sure people who started along the journey of dabbling in the occult never thought it would bring them to that state.

Today, brothers and sisters, if you have dabbled in the occult in the past, come before Jesus, come before the Cross, renounce the evil, renew in your own hearts the promises you made in the Sacrament of Baptism, the promises that were made probably on your own behalf, where you renounce Satan and all his works and all his promises and everything of him. For you are marked with the Sign of the Cross. You are marked as a disciple of Jesus Christ. You carry within you the power to change the world. You carry within you the power to renew the world, by the renewal in your own heart.

Evil is evil under any heading. And there should be no place for evil in the life of a Christian. I know many people have said that it is only adult fun. That is not adult fun. It is the breaking of the First Commandment of God. "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul." Accepting anything else is not of God.

But the good news is that if you have, you are in the right place. You are in the right place to receive healing and freedom. For the Spirit of God is given to us, and we can only lose that Spirit when we reject Him by accepting a spirit of evil, a spirit that is not of God.

I think I have shared this here before. I have a bishop friend in India, Bishop De Silva, a tremendous bishop and a very holy man. He says there is only one being in on earth that you should tell to go to hell. And that is Satan, and you do that because that is the place that God has made for him as a home.

Today as you gather here, whether it is your first day or your last day, give your heart to Jesus. Open your life again to the Holy Spirit as you did at Confirmation. Tell God that you want Him and Him only. Ask God to break any power of evil that may be clinging to us or trying to destroy us or try to take us into a dark place. We are people of the light. We are people empowered by God himself, by His Holy Spirit. Let us rejoice in that, and let us live as people of the Light, not walking into the darkness that Satan wishes for us.

Our Lady says over and over again, that Satan wants to destroy her plan. The very fact that we are here means that we are children of Mary, and because we are children of Mary he hates us more. Because he hates her, because God at the very beginning said, "I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed." We, accepting Mary as our mother, are the seed of Mary. And so there is great enmity between Satan and us and he wants nothing more than to destroy us. But God has won the victory. You are signed with the sign of the Cross. God brings freedom and joy and peace and holiness which nothing else in the world can offer.

Father Towey has been coming to Medjugorje for many years, and he carries Our Lady's school in his heart. You can hear his testimony in "Fruit of Medjugorje Episode 87". What a good pastor of souls!

May we all "come clean" of any occult practices and give our hearts over completely to Our Lord Jesus! This is a saving word for many in our day.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

“Special Gem”-Audio Presentations from FOL Conference on 8/15-September 3, 2014

Dear Marian friends,

We thought many of you would want to hear these presentations on the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from our First Regional Conference on August 15.  There are 6 presentations and each one is excellent.  Ideally you should listen to them in sequence over a day or two.  Fr. Steve Delacy’s talk opens the program and is a pearl of rare price.  I would urge you to listen to it and the 5 presentations following it.  Simply click on this link http://www.flameoflove.us/first-philadelphia-regional-flame-love-conference/ or go to the Resources section of our website at www.flameoflove.us.

You can order as many as 5 Flame of Love books in the US on our website at www.flameoflove.us.

Flame of Love message from Tony Mullen, National Coordinator for the United States: "This day, August 15, 2014, will be an extraordinary day of God's Grace!  The Holy Spirit will honor His Spouse, Mary and you will learn about the Church approved: Grace of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of God's Mother.  God has called this the "Greatest Grace given to humanity since the Incarnation of His Son!"  Pray this simple prayer...Lord, You want me to have this Grace...so move me with the Flame of Your Love in Your Mother!"

St. Louis de Montfort taught that the goal of ...
St. Louis de Montfort taught that the goal of Marian consecration is "holiness": the gradual sanctification of the soul, so focus turns away from self-love and towards the love of God through Mary. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
"The messages given to Elizabeth Kindelmann are urgent and emphasize the “same” message as most of the other approved ones from Akita, Betania and elsewhere.  The Lord states:  “The Grace from the Flame of Love of My Mother’s Immaculate Heart will be to your generation what Noah’s Ark was to Noah.”   We believe these are the most important of all so far since Fatima as there is a signal grace intended for each person and we are asked to pass it to others in a formal way.  God makes it very clear that the signal grace offered through His Mother’s Immaculate Heart is necessary to survive the coming attacks on the Faith."

From Mark Mallett: The Masterwork

The Masterwork

The Immaculate Conception, by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1767)

WHAT did you say? That Mary is the refuge that God is giving us in these times?
It sounds like heresy, doesn’t it. After all, isn’t Jesus our refuge? Isn’t He the “mediator” between man and God? Isn’t His the only name by which we are saved? Is He not the Savior of the world? Yes, all this is true. But how the Savior wishes to save us is a completely different matter. How the merits of the Cross are applied is an altogether mysterious, beautiful, and awesome unfolding story. It is within this application of our redemption that Mary finds her place as the crown of God’s masterplan in redemption, after Our Lord Himself.

Our Lady of Sorrows

Tribulation Times
September 2, 2014

(Luk 2:34-35) And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall and for the resurrection of many in Israel and for a sign which shall be contradicted. And thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that, out of many hearts thoughts may be revealed.

COMMENTARY: Pope Francis and the ‘Borongan miracle’

FR. WILLIAM SAUNDERS: The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

FROM THE MAILBAG
VIA Our Lady of the Rosary Library: A SOURCE OF GRACE AND CONSOLATION FOR ALL CHRISTIANS (from the booklet "Devotion to the Sorrowful Mother")

Devotion to the sorrows of Mary is a source of great graces because it is so pleasing to our Divine Lord. Many holy writers say that through her sufferings Mary placed an obligation, as it were upon her Son, which constrains Him to grant her whatever she asks of Him. As soon as we sympathize with the sorrows of His Mother, we draw our Saviour to ourselves. "He is," says St. Bernard, "at the disposal of those who devoutly meditate on the sufferings of His Mother."
Our Lord once said to Bl. Veronica of Binasco: "My daughter, the tears which you shed in compassion for My sufferings are pleasing to Me, but bear in mind that on account of My excessive love for My Mother, the tears you shed in compassion for her sufferings are still more precious."
There are, indeed, few devotions for which our Saviour has made greater promises that for this one, and there are few that are more pleasing to Him.

THE COMFORTER OF THE AFFLICTED

Through her martyrdom, Mary has become in a special way the comforter of the afflicted. It was by her own experience of sorrow that she was taught the sympathy which enables her to comfort her children in all their afflictions. God gave her a mighty and a sympathetic heart for this great task.

For all God's children, the way to Heaven leads across the mount of Calvary -- the way of trial and suffering. In the company of our Sorrowful Mother, we walk more easily, fight more courageously, and suffer more patiently, perseveringly and joyfully; for she holds up before us not only the example of the sufferings and death of her Divine Son, but also the victory, the joy and the glory which He has won through His sufferings.

How often do we grow impatient, fainthearted, despondent and inconstant in suffering . . . how often without endurance, without resignation, full of complaints and murmurings! Oh, let us deeply engrave in our hearts the sorrows of Mary! May she, our Sorrowful Mother, ever be our model in suffering, in the patient endurance of trials, and in the humble acceptance of sorrows and afflictions. When the hand of God lays a heavy cross upon our shoulders, let us turn to Mary Sorrowing, and we shall obtain consolation and strength to carry the cross patiently and meritoriously.

The Desert Fathers: sayings of the Early Christian Monks: Discretion

53. He also said, 'Evil cannot drive out evil. If anyone hurts you, do good to him and your good will destroy his evil.'

Waiting for Our Lady
 (c) Mary TV 2014

September 2, 2014

Dear Family of Mary!

In a few hours, Mirjana will encounter Our Lady! We await another message through Mirjana, a message that will help us to take a few more steps with Our Lady towards the Father. Each message we receive is a blessing. Mother Mary's words to us are healing. She touches us in the depths of our hearts with her love and her blessing. She draws out of us a deep response, a response to God's love pulsating through her heart to ours. We are learning to communicate with love through Our Lady's messages.

In preparation, let's once again receive Our Lady's message through Mirjana from August 2, 2014. As we ponder this message, looking back over the month and seeing how we responded to is, we will be making room for the next message. We should not be sad if our response has not been the greatest. Our Lady knows our weaknesses, and she is merciful, like her Son. We can only turn to her like the children we are, and ask her to help us do better this time!

Here is the message of August 2, 2014:

Dear Children!  The reason that I am with you, my mission, is to help you for 'good' to win, even though this does not seem possible to you now. I know that you do not understand many things as I also did not understand everything, everything that my Son explained to me while He was growing up alongside me - but I believed Him and followed Him. I ask this of you also, to believe me and to follow me. However, my children, to follow me means to love my Son above everything, to love Him in every person without making differences. For you to be able to do this, I call you anew to renunciation, prayer and fasting. I am calling you for the Eucharist to be the life of your soul. I am calling you to be my apostles of light who will spread love and mercy through the world. My children, your life is only a blink in contrast to eternal life. And when you come before my Son, in your hearts He will see how much love you had. In order to spread love in the right way, I am asking my Son, through love, to grant you unity through Him, unity among you, unity between you and your shepherds. Through them my Son always gives Himself to you anew and renews your soul. Do not forget this. Thank you.  (August 2, 2014)

The live streaming of Mirjana's Encounter with Our Lady will begin around 8:00 am Medjugorje time (2:00 am EDT). Join us at www.marytv.tv !!

Spiritual Gems-Developing a Personal Relationship with the Holy Spirit is Essential

Developing a Personal Relationship with the HolySpirit is Essential

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity,  the Person of Divine Love.  The Father and Son love one another with an infinite love and this love is a Person,  the Holy Spirit.  He is called a Spiritbecause He proceeds from the Father and Son.  He is the bond of Love and Union between the Father and the Son.

To the Holy Spirit are especially attributed the
HOLY SPIRIT - FOIX
HOLY SPIRIT - FOIX (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
works of the Holy Trinity about Love, that is to say the sharing of Divine Life....Grace....and the infusion of the spiritual gifts which lead to our holiness...our being more like God through the merits of Jesus Christ. This is why He is called the Divine Sanctifier.  "No man can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit."

The first and all-important fact is that when we are in a state of Grace, the Holy Spirit is really, truly and personally in our souls as He is in Heaven.  He so desires to pour out His Gifts and Graces but He can not do this without our cooperation...we must correspond to His Love.  But how can we do this if we do not know Him and His Gifts and Fruits; if we do not speak and pray to Him; and if we do not know Him as a Person?  This is why so few Christians advance in holiness....they do not know the Divine Sanctifier. Our Mother is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit and will begin this process if we ask her sincerely and constantly to know her Spouse!  Include this request each time you pray, especially the Rosary!

September 2014 Monthly Message from Anne, a lay apostle

Direction for Our Times

We continue our cycle of monthly messages for 2014 with the message from September 1, 2006 for our prayer groups and personal reflection.

September 1, 2006 (2014)

Jesus

A deep peace settles upon those who serve the Lord. This interior peace, heaven’s presence, connects each apostle to their Saviour. I work in each soul without interruption if that soul welcomes Me. Around the apostle, circumstances change. Others come and go in their life and perhaps there is suffering or persecution. My presence remains constant, though, comforting, consoling, and directing. The connection between heaven and each apostolic servant is the avenue through which I return to the world. How heaven delights in each commitment. During this time, many look to their Saviour and know with certainty that I am calling out to them. Each apostle hears My call. You have heard My call. Consider today what your Jesus is asking of you. Consider how I am asking you to serve today. Dearest apostle, I must insist that you spend time in silence contemplating My will. I must insist upon this because I require your service in whatever way I have willed for you during this time. If you give Me your full attention for a period of time each day, I can instruct you and prompt you. Also, I can give you a very important heavenly attribute and that is the peace that I need you to possess. You must possess this for your own comfort, of course, but you must also possess this peace so that it flows through you into the world. Your world does not have peace. My peace has been rejected by your world. You, My beloved apostles, reject the world’s discord and accept My peace. That is why you are so important to Me. I am your Beloved One. You feel My presence, do you not? Truly, I am with you. Dear apostle, I want to be with everyone in this way. Will you help Me? I know that you will. Spend time with Me in silence each day and I will provide you with everything you need and everything the world requires.

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Pray for my intentions, because Satan wants to destroy my plan which I have here and to steal your peace. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray that God can act through each of you. May your hearts be open to God's will. I love you and bless you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2014)

I want to remind everyone that:

Mary TV will stream Mirjana's September 2 apparition live at www.marytv.tv  . The streaming will begin at 8:00 am Medjugorje time. Please check your time zones for the correct time in your area.

It will be at 2:00 am Eastern Daylight Time in the USA. Many of us will be up in the middle of the night for this wonderful occasion! Well worth the loss of sleep.

Now I want to share with you a very lovely homily that was given at the English Mass on August 29, 2014, by Fr. Maximilian of the Oasis of Peace Community. I have transcribed it for you because it is so full of beautiful wisdom.

Fr. Maximilian's Homily in St. James Church, English Mass, on August 29, 2014 - Passion of St. John the Baptist

To be a prophet is not an easy task. We all are prophets through Baptism, "kings, priests and prophets." And we know that God choses certain people to be prophets in their own time. AS we saw in the first reading, Jeremiah didn't like it at all. He knew what was coming: shame, dishonor. Fortunately, Mary never asked us here to be prophets. She asks us to be her witnesses. To be her apostles. To bring the Good News.

So as we go home from Medjugorje, where we have had an encounter with God and with our Blessed Mother, and have started the way of conversion or we will go forward with a stronger way of conversion, let us be careful that when we go home we don't try to be prophets. WE should not be telling the people what they should do or not do. Mary doesn't ask us to do that. She asks us to be witnesses.

Witness with your lives of prayer. Witness with your joy! Witness your conversion by your behavior. Saint Frances de Sales would say to "make your devotion, your prayer life, your conversion attractive."

So if your husband sees his wife more gentle, or if the wife sees the husband coming back from Medjugorje more calm and more patient, if the children see their parents more united and joyful, they may say "Ah, I want that too. I might go myself to Medjugorje the next time."

So let's make our devotion attractive. Let's ask God for the grace to be a witness, to be apostles of good news, but not prophets, which as I said, is not an easy task.

Today we see the greatest of all prophets in the Old Testament, John the Baptist, dying an infamous death through the conspiracy of a weak king who kills him in the end against his will. He conspires with an ambitious woman full of hate and a dancing girl. Through those three dies the greatest of the prophets of the Old Testament.

Circumstances are never important. The problem is our relationship to God. Jesus didn't say to the Father, "Father I want to give my life, but you see that unjust judge, Pilate, and these jealous Jews..." He didn't say that. He had His first relation, His first love for the Father. And He knew that through this huge injustice God's will was done, was fulfilled. First of all it is for us to work on our relation to God. This is the first justice we have to strive for. That every honor and glory be given to Him. Obviously we then have to work on justice here on earth. That is what Jesus and all the prophets did. The especially defended the poor and the weak. Honestly.

Let's look for a moment at this so-called family, though we know it is not a family at all. They wanted to be seen as a family and went so far as to imprison the greatest of men born of woman. We see similar situations. Times have changed, but not the people. And so we do not know how long we can defend the rights of the natural family. We might also get imprisoned. But again, let us witness the beauty of family more than to fight against. Let us advance in the good.

So let us see this family, which Mark described with marvelous intellectual and psychological capacity and insights into human behavior. We see this king, actually what motivates him? It is love of self which generates in us a triple concupiscence. John describes in his letter, ST. John the Apostle and Evangelist, we can translate them as thirst for power, thirst for wealth and thirst for pleasure. These three, and especially the first one, the thirst for power destroys humanity today, not only at that time. We see that woman thirsting for power. We see the king living in pleasure, banqueting and losing his reason for a dancing girl. And we see a girl who wants wealth. In fact the king asks her, "Do you want half my kingdom?" These three destroy the world, especially the first one, the thirst for power. And we don't find them just in high political circles, we can find them also in our families: the husband who wants to possess his wife, or the wife possess her family or her husband or the children or her own womb.

Against these three inclinations that we have inherited through original sin, the Gospel teaches us, the Gospel gives us three virtues, three angelical counsels which are lived by some consecrated people in a strict way. The counsels become their lives, their way of life, their way to imitate Christ. Obedient, chaste and poor. But we are all called to exercise them. To go against the triple concupiscence (thirst for power, thirst for wealth, and thirst for pleasure).

Now Mary in her messages never wrote about those three. She mentioned once obedience. She said once, "I ask you to be obedient to me", and with 33 years as our mother, I think she has the right to do that. She never spoke about those virtues, but she shows us the way along which those virtues grow. And flourish.

Prayer, true prayer, prayer from the heart, which is our relationship to God, let us realize this is the greatest power in the whole universe, and we get that power. In John's prologue he writes about it, "Those who believe receive the power to become children of God." That is the greatest power. That is true power. That is the power that brings us into eternity. All these powers here on earth, we can also own the whole world, but we miserably perish. Let's be clever, truly clever, truly wise, and choose the true power. I am a child of God. I am a daughter, I am a son of my heavenly Father and my heavenly Mother and they take care of me, so I don't have to get all these riches and wealth to feel secure. I feel strong, I feel secure, why? I have a big bank account, I have a big car, I have a big house so I am a big man, a big woman. I don't need that anymore. I can be simple. I can be little. A child is little.

I can strive even for what John the Baptist said: "He has to grow, I have to diminish." Internally, we can empty ourselves of self that Christ will be able to grow in us. "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Blessed are those who have given God space in their lives, in their hearts. Mary always to give us Jesus at Christmas in a special way. And at each Eucharist we receive Jesus in us. Let us give Him space that He can breathe in us. That He can grow in us. This is true poverty ...of self.

And then He shows us the way of true joy. Mary says, "Prayer is joy without which you cannot live. But then we say that Jesus told us to carry the cross, and that is not a big pleasure, truly it is not a pleasure for human life, it is not a pleasure. But Jesus says for a holy soul if the love of the cross has entered deeply into the soul and the heart of the person, that person experiences a joy that the world does not know, because the world only knows pleasure. But joy is mine, Jesus says, and of my own. So Mary says the way of the cross (And sometimes we come to Medjugorje to get rid of the Cross) that the way of the cross can become the way of joy.

How great Thou art! We sing...how great God is! He transforms everything into good for those who love Him. Let us ask for this love for God. Because love of self, St. Augustine tells us (we celebrated him yesterday) when it goes so far that we are led to hate. We hate justice, we hate God, we hate everything. So let us ask Mary to help us to empty ourselves of self. And experience the joy of Christ in us. Christ amongst us. Christ is our peace, our joy and our salvation. Amen

Thank you, Fr. Maximilian, for sharing your heart of love with us.  May we respond with our hearts to Our Lady's call!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
