Mary TV: November 13, 2017 Reflection - Forgive from the heart!

Let us forgive one another!!
(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

November 13, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!
"Be on your guard!
If your brother sins, rebuke him;
and if he repents, forgive him.
And if he wrongs you seven times in one day
and returns to you seven times saying, 'I am sorry,'
you should forgive him." (Luke 17: 3-4)

These words of Jesus from our Gospel reading for today are basic to all human relationships. We are fallen. We sin. We hurt one another. And if we are to stay friends, spouses, family members, we have to forgive and ask for forgiveness. We have to be honest with one another when we slip up, and forgive when there is repentance.

Our Lady spoke about this basic human dynamic on October 2 of this year:
October 02, 2017 "Dear children, I am speaking to you as a mother - with simple words, but words filled with much love and concern for my children who, through my Son, are entrusted to me. And my Son, who is of the eternal now, He is speaking to you with words of life and is sowing love in open hearts. Therefore, I am imploring you, apostles of my love, have open hearts always ready for mercy and forgiveness. According to my Son, always forgive your neighbors, because in that way peace will be in you. My children, care for your soul, because it alone is what truly belongs to you..."

Jim Browne gave a powerful retreat in South Bend last weekend. He taught us how to actually apply Scripture to our own situation, in such a way that it calls down the power of God upon us. His examples were wonderful. I think Jim would apply Luke 17: 3-4 in this way:

"I, _______, will be on my guard! If my brother sins, I will rebuke him; and if he repents, I will forgive him. And if he wrongs me seven times in one day and returns to me seven times saying, 'I am sorry' I will forgive him."

Getting these holy words in our mind and heart can release the power of God in us. It is not always easy to forgive. But with the help of the Holy Spirit, and our own resolve we can do it! Forgiveness works miracles in our relationships. It protects our own hearts from resentment and frees our neighbor from our condemnation. What a gift Jesus has given us in forgiveness!!!

Our Lady's words are also helpful. We can let her words occupy space in our minds and hearts as well. "Therefore, Our Lady implores me, an apostle of her love, to have an open heart always ready for mercy and forgiveness. According to her Son, I, _________, will always forgive my neighbors, because in that way peace will be in me."

Notice that Our Lady spoke to us about her words to us and Jesus' Word to us:

"Dear children, I am speaking to you as a mother - with simple words, but words filled with much love and concern for my children who, through my Son, are entrusted to me. And my Son, who is of the eternal now, He is speaking to you with words of life and is sowing love in open hearts."

Our Lady's words are simple, filled with love and concern. And Jesus' words are words of life, that sow love in open hearts! These words from Jesus and Mary are for our good. I am very grateful to God for giving us Holy Scripture, His very Word for us. He has given us a unimaginable  gift in His Word. I am also grateful in these days for Our Lady's messages, as they are an aid in holiness. May we all learn to forgive from the heart as Jesus tells us, so that we will find peace!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: November 10, 2017 Reflection - A River of Grace!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

November 10, 2017
St. Leo the Great

Dear Family of Mary!
Yesterday the first reading was from Ezekiel. It is another favorite of mine! Here it is:

The angel brought me
back to the entrance of the temple,
and I saw water flowing out
from beneath the threshold of the temple toward the east,
for the façade of the temple was toward the east;
the water flowed down from the southern side of the temple,
south of the altar.
He led me outside by the north gate,
and around to the outer gate facing the east,
where I saw water trickling from the southern side.
He said to me,
"This water flows into the eastern district down upon the Arabah,
and empties into the sea, the salt waters, which it makes fresh.
Wherever the river flows,
every sort of living creature that can multiply shall live,
and there shall be abundant fish,
for wherever this water comes the sea shall be made fresh.
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of every kind shall grow;
their leaves shall not fade, nor their fruit fail.
Every month they shall bear fresh fruit,
for they shall be watered by the flow from the sanctuary.
Their fruit shall serve for food, and their leaves for medicine."
(Ezek 47:1-2, 8-9, 12)

The image of pure water flowing out from the gate of the temple and watering vast areas of land is a comforting one. This water supports life. It is a hopeful image. It is God's regeneration, His blessing upon the people. Thinking about this image, I remembered an experience that Sr. Briege McKenna had in which she saw water flowing from another temple, St. James Church, back in 1981.   She saw this image before the apparitions even began! Here is a transcription of her witness given on Fruit of Medjugorje, Episode 30:

I was invited to go to the International Conferences for Priests, and because I am in the ministry for priests I was asked by the priests, "Please, Sr. Briege would you pray with us." So we put them into groups from the different countries they were in. So I met with a group of priests from what was then Yugoslavia. Of course, these countries were under communism. (You know the memory is a great computer, and when the right button is pressed it comes up!) I remember this friar in his Franciscan habit, saying to me that he was very frustrated because he was the youth director for the Diocese of Mostar - I never heard of Mostar- and he went on to tell me that the youth were being seduced by the communists, with propaganda to draw them away from Christ and what he was trying to do for them. And he asked me to pray with him that he could find the way.

One of the things about my ministry is that it is good not to know too much about the person before I pray with them. I tell priests, "Father you don't have to tell me everything about yourself. It's not that I don't want to hear your story. But we are human and we can be influenced by what we hear. So I tell them that I don't trust myself, and it is better not to know anything before I pray with them.

But it happened on that day as I prayed with him. (I get these images. People say that the imagination can run away with you, but the Lord can use the imagination like an overhead projector. He can throw images out there that can really be a key for that person.) And what I saw was Fr. Tomislav sitting in the main celebrant's chair on the altar. And he was looking into the body of the church and it was packed with young people. And from behind him on the altar there were streams of water, like rivers, flowing. And the young people were cupping it and drinking, and as they were drinking they would go out and bring others in.

So I said to him, "You know Father, you don't have to worry, because many young people will come to your church. And I told him that I could see this church that had two huge steeples! When he heard this, almost immediately up came Fr. Emile Tardiff, who was a Sacred Heart Father, a missionary whom I knew, and who has died since, God rest him. But he got this prophetic word, and he could not have heard what I said to Father Tomislav, but he walked over and he said, "You know, Father, Our Lady is going to visit your church."

The extraordinary thing was that Fr. Tomislav was not in Medjugorje yet. Medjugorje hadn't happened. None of us knew about the two steeples on the church. Fr. Tomaslav must have thought this was bizarre. What does this all mean?

Later he told me that when he was sent there by the bishop, when Fr. Jozo went to prison, being the brilliant man that he was I am sure his hope was that he would find out that this event of the apparitions wasn't true. And like any of us would do, he had seen the external signs, but there is a difference from seeing from the outside which doesn't always make you believe - you can see things and still not believe. And so one of the things he did was that he prayed and said to God, "Please God show me." And when he prayed this way he heard my voice like a gramophone and then he remembered the image (of the waters flowing from the altar, and the two steeples...) and he remembered the French priest telling him that Our Lady would come to his church. And at that moment he was convicted and he realized like in the Old Testament, he had to make a decision because he had been given a message from God. (St. Briege McKenna - Fruit show 30 - see the play list in the video window - http://marytv.tv/?page_id=167

Well, it is very exciting to know that even before the apparitions began, God was preparing the way. He showed Sr. Briege this powerful image, which even to our day is true. The graces are just flowing out of St. James Church, graces of conversion, faith, hope, love, truth, vocation, and forgiveness and healing. God's plan in Medjugorje has only increased over the years. And it is a plan to rejuvenate the faithful and bring them to life in grace! The graces that flow from St. James also flow from our hearts, for we are each of us temples of the Holy Spirit. And we are part of the great flood of grace that is being poured out through Our Lady to the world.

November 25, 2008 "Dear children! Also today I call you, in this time of grace, to pray for little Jesus to be born in your heart. May He, who is peace itself, give peace to the entire world through you. Therefore, little children, pray without ceasing for this turbulent world without hope, so that you may become witnesses of peace for all. May hope begin to flow through your hearts as a river of grace. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Mary TV: November 9, 2017 Reflection - The good which is silent...

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

The good which is silent...

J.M.J.
November 9, 2017
The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica

Dear Family of Mary!

In her message of November 2, 2017, Our Lady gave us two words of great hope. It often is the case that our hope hangs by a thread, the thread of simple goodness, simple holiness and humility. And so she told us:

"The good which is silent and is spread through pure souls is the strength which sustains this world..." (November 2, 2017)

We have all heard of the great saints who were "not so great" when they were alive. They were door keepers or cooks or gardeners. They worked hard all day without glory. But they were pure souls. I think of St. Andre Bessette and St. Faustina and Venerable Solanus Casey (who will be beatified on November 18, 2017 in Detroit!!) These saints were not superstars by human standards, but God worked through them in superstar ways. They are examples of "the good which is silent and is spread through pure souls." Each one gave gifts to the world through their littleness and inspiration.

Then there are the examples of people we know, those we have known all our lives. I think of Mrs. F, the school secretary for our children's Catholic grade school. Mrs. F. has been secretary for many years, and shows no sign of quitting. She was always kind, happy, helpful, motherly and attentive to the children. One of my children who did not fit into the school setting very well spent a lot of time with her in the school office. And it was there that Mrs. F. helped my child to feel special, to be happy in the midst of her situation, and to feel worthy of love. They had a special good-bye ritual which consisted of turning sideways, bending a leg backwards like a flapper, waving their hand under their chin and saying "Toodle loo!!!" This is the good which is silent and is spread through pure souls...

Our Lady also told us:

"...Apostles of my love, a living desire of faith and love is sufficient, and my Son will accept it..." (November 2, 2017)

This hopeful word is for all of us! Our Lady doesn't hold the bar too high for us! We need to have "a living desire of faith and love." That is enough. It is sufficient. Jesus will accept our desire to believe and our desire to love. Even though we fail time and again, if we get back up and desire it again, Jesus will accept it!! All we have to do is keep trying!!

Maybe if we keep trying hard enough we will become the good which is silent and is spread through pure souls...
Let's try! Toodle loo!!!

Mary TV: November 8, 2017 Reflection - What the World Needs Now!

(c)Mary TV 2015

What the world needs now is love, sweet love...

J.M.J.
November 8, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!
There was a song back in 1966 sung by Dionne Warwick called "What The World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love". I was a teenager then, and that song spoke to my heart. It was like an ache that we all felt, and ache in our hearts for peace and for good will among men. For love. The beginning verse goes like this:

What the world needs now is love sweet love,
It's the only thing that there's just too little of,
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone...

The song was in the form of a prayer telling God we need love. Goodness knows, we don't need to tell the Lord that we need love! He is the origin of Love and is Love and wishes He could give Himself to all of us. Still, the truth was there. We need love. We are dying for love. And the song writer was pointing to the right source!
In the first reading for Mass today, St. Paul tells us something about the world's need for love:

Brothers and sisters:
Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another;
for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
The commandments,
You shall not commit adultery;
you shall not kill;
you shall not steal;
you shall not covet,
and whatever other commandment there may be,
are summed up in this saying, namely,
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Love does no evil to the neighbor;
hence, love is the fulfillment of the law. (Rom 13: 8-10)

Love does fulfill the law. It is always the right response, always the right desire for another. St. Paul in his own way was telling us that love is what the world needs!!

Our Lady in the most recent message told us very much the same thing, i.e. that what the world needs now is love:
"...My Son is love. He loves all people without difference, all people of all countries and of all nations. If you, my children, would live the love of my Son, His kingdom would already be on earth. Therefore, apostles of my love, pray, pray that my Son and His love may be all the closer to you; that you may be an example of love and may help all those who have not come to know my Son. Never forget that my Son, one and Triune, loves you..." (November 2, 2017)

Of course, Our Lady gives us the best direction about how to bring love to the world. She tells us to "pray, pray that my Son and His love may be all the closer to you, that you may be an example of love and may help all those who have not come to know my Son." It is only when we pray and stay close to Jesus that we will be able to love. We are so fallen that even our best efforts at love will fail without Jesus. He must love in and through us. What the world needs now is Jesus' love, given to us to share with others. That is what the world needs now, so desperately. That is what the world aches for...
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
It's the only thing that there's just too little of,
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone...

Mary TV: November 7, 2017 Reflection - Oh Lord, my heart is not proud...

"I have stilled and quieted my soul..."
(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
November 7, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

Today's Responsorial Psalm is my favorite Psalm, Psalm 131! It captures perfectly how to relate to Our Lady, and to Jesus. Here it is:

Psalm 131
O LORD, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things,
nor with things too sublime for me.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted
my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother's lap,
so is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the LORD,
both now and forever.
In this world we begin to realize that very little is in our control, that we are not able to master or change our environment, that we are vulnerable and small. And as we realize this more and more, we find our only peace in our relationship with our God who is all powerful, and with Our Lady who is our mother. To sit on Mary's lap, in total trust is the way to proceed in such a world as ours. To surrender to God, accepting our littleness and vulnerability, is the way to hope. Humility and trust are our greatest gifts! They will keep us close to the Lord.

Our Lady has given us many messages that communicate this truth, that we are small, in need, and totally dependent on the Lord and that we need our Mother, Mary. Here are three:

December 2, 2008 "Dear children; In this holy time of joyful expectation, God has chosen you little ones to realize His great intentions. My children, be humble. Through your humility, God, with His wisdom, will make of your souls a chosen home. You will illuminate it with good works and thus, with an open heart, you will welcome the birth of my Son in all of His generous love. Thank you dear children."

October 2, 2010 "Dear children; Today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion. Your hearts need to be just. May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time. May your weapon be patience and boundless love, a love that knows to wait and which will make you capable of recognizing God's signs, that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies. My children, my apostles, help me to open the paths to my Son. Once again I call you to pray for your shepherds. Alongside them, I will triumph. Thank you."
July 02, 2014 "Dear children, I, the mother of all of you gathered here and the mother of the entire world, am blessing you with a motherly blessing and call you to set out on the way of humility. That way leads to the coming to know the love of my Son. My Son is almighty. He is in everything. If you, my children, do not become cognizant of this, then darkness/blindness rule in your soul. Only humility can heal you. My children, I always lived humbly, courageously and in hope. I knew, I became cognizant that God is in us and we are in God. I am asking the same of you. I desire for all of you to be with me in eternity, because you are a part of me. I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light - of God's light. With the love that comes forth from humility you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing my Son who is the light of the world. I am always alongside your shepherds and I pray that they may always be an example of humility for you. Thank you."

The best response I can come up with to these incredible words of wisdom from Our Lady are these:

Psalm 131
O LORD, my heart is not proud,
nor are my eyes haughty;
I busy not myself with great things,
nor with things too sublime for me.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted
my soul like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother's lap,
so is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the LORD,
both now and forever.

Mary TV: November 6, 2017 Reflection - Be Prayer!

 (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
November 6, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children!
I am calling you to be prayer in this time of grace. You all have problems, afflictions, sufferings and lack of peace. May saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness; God will be near you and you will be renewed in seeking through your personal conversion. Faith will be hope to you and joy will begin to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2017)

One of the pilgrims on our pilgrimage in early October has shared with us her beautiful experience of what it means to "Be Prayer!"  Thank you, Patty, for sharing the fruit of your pilgrimage!
Hi Cathy,
(Hi Denis and Michael!)

I was able to pray the rosary with you and Denis this morning (Thursday's Rosary) and want to let you know how deeply Our Lady is using Mary TV to pour out her graces on all of us.

I also want to share some of the graces I received on the pilgrimage. Denis is right that Michael lets Our Lady lead the pilgrimage. I could see her guiding hand in every moment I was there, with every interaction. I feel so loved that Our Lady placed me under Michael's care for my time there. And, within Mary TV's family!!! Such love!!!

Our Lady's message: "Be prayer" was the message of Medjugorje for me. Be prayer and not ego!!! She let me see that every time I experienced a small irritation in the midst of Medjugorje crowds, it was my ego that was doing the perceiving, instead of my spirit surrendered to Her. For example, the woman who lit up her cigarette and was talking while I was trying to listen to Vicka was NOT the source of my irritation. My not-surrendered ego caused this to happen. Our Lady spoke to my heart gently about this woman, "She is my precious daughter. I brought her here. Help her to see Vicka more clearly." Hahaha! This meant offering her my spot on the street that had a view of Vicka. Once I did so, the peace that passes all understanding flooded my heart.

Another example: I remained at the top of mountain to pray at the Cross after the rest of the group left. I craved silent prayer. Hahaha! Well, 4 young women in their twenties, dressed in very stylish clothes, arrived just then with their mother and uncle. I am not sure where the mother and uncle went, but these young Spanish women were chatting and laughing an using the base of the Cross as the backdrop for pictures and selfies. They were posing and laughing...and of course, I was irritated and a bit judgmental. Once, I considered speaking to them about this being a place of prayer, but Our Lady stopped me because it was my ego motivating my speech. I was clearly irritated. Instead, Our Lady urged me to pray for them and to enjoy their chatter as youthful life! And, just to make sure I did not miss the point, when I decided to go back down the mountain, the young women also decided to go back down the mountain. And, when it became tricky for me in places walking down, the young women stayed with me and encouraged me!!! Our Lady has the best sense of humor in her teachings.

This lesson has continued from that moment on.

Another insight from Our Lady is this meditation/prayer she gave to me while praying during Eucharistic Adoration:

Jesus, I believe in you.
Jesus, I surrender all to you.
Jesus, I rejoice in you.
Jesus, I intercede with you.
Jesus, I trust all to you.

She wants me to live this. As I reflect on this more, I think this is what it means for me to "BE prayer" : believe, surrender, rejoice, intercede, trust.

Lots of love and prayers!
Patty

It always amazes me how easily Our Lady can speak to us in Medjugorje.  She has a direct line into our hearts there, and seems able to instruct us personally.  Oh what a grace it is to go to Medjugorje!!

I agree with Patty also about Michael.  He is a very prayerful presence for the pilgrims.

God bless all of us this day, and may we "Be Prayer"  today and every day.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Medjugorje, Parolin: "The Holy See wants to regulate the phenomenon"

Tribulation Times

November 6, 2017
(1Th 5:19-21) Extinguish not the spirit. Despise not prophecies. But prove all things: hold fast that which is good.

MARK MALLET BLOG: EXCELLENT REVIEW- MEDJUGORJE… WHAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW

VATICAN INSIDER (translated): Medjugorje, Parolin: "The Holy See wants to regulate the phenomenon"

On the question of Medjugorje, "it is the will of the Holy See to help regulate the phenomenon so that the faithful who come here can listen to the Word of God, celebrate the sacraments, and experience an authentic experience of faith." It is the Vatican Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, to intervene on the delicate affaire for years in the center of studies and investigations by the Vatican.

Visiting these days in Croatia Cardinal answers questions of journalists to whom - reports on Sir - recalls that the Commission led results by Cardinal Camillo Ruini and mandated to shed light on the "phenomenon" of the Marian apparitions, which began in 1981 and not still interrupted, in the village of Herzegovina that every year attracts hundreds of thousands of faithful and pilgrims are all "in the hands of the Holy Father."

There is not only the "supernatural" dimension of the events to be analyzed, it has also highlighted the cardinal, it is equally important the question of the "pastoral care" of pilgrims. This is why the Pope appointed the Polish Archbishop Henryk Hoser as his "special envoy" on February 11 , not for a supplement of inquiry, but as a Vatican press, in order to "acquire more in-depth knowledge of the pastoral situation of that reality and above all the needs of the faithful who come to pilgrimage. "

Along with the Croatian press, Parolin has come to the merits of another equally thorny issue, which has remained unanswered so far: the canonization of Blessed Alojzije Stepinac. The Archbishop of Zagreb is a figure that, after decades, creates a profound division of Catholic Catholics who acclaim him as a holy pastor and Orthodox Serbs accusing him of being a collaborator of the Nazi-fascist regime during the Second World War.

Regard to the work of Stepinac during those dramatic years was established a year ago a joint commission between the Croatian Bishops' Conference and the Serbian Orthodox Church, which has completed its work, in the Casa Santa Marta, the past 12 to 13 July, under the leadership of President of the Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences, Father Bernard Ardura , who, however, failed to achieve "a unambiguous interpretation".

However, Parolin says: "I believe that the work of the Commission has been helpful and that this process has helped to promote dialogue and understanding." "Wounds that leave historical facts can not be overcome from today to tomorrow," he added. It is important to keep the direction to go and work for communion and peace. Interreligious and ecumenical dialogue is a fundamental tool to achieve this goal. "

The documents produced by the Commission for the "common re-reading" of Archbishop Stepinac's life and work are, like those of Medjugorje, "in the hands" of the Pontiff, explained the Secretary of State. And he reiterated that Papa Bergoglio's "desire" is that this issue does not create tensions between the two peoples but help the common path. " In any case, "the question is internal to the Catholic Church and it seems important to emphasize it."

November 2, 2017 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace

 (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
November 2, 2017
All Soul's Day

Dear Family of Mary!
November 2, 2017 - Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace

Dear children, As I am looking at you gathered around me, your mother, I see many pure souls, many of my children who are seeking love and consolation, but no one is offering it to them. I also see those who are doing evil, because they do not have good examples; they have not come to know my Son. The good which is silent and is spread through pure souls is the strength which sustains this world. There is much sin, but there is also love. My Son is sending me to you - the mother who is the same for everyone - that I may teach you to love, to comprehend that you are brothers. He desires to help you.

Apostles of my love, a living desire of faith and love is sufficient, and my Son will accept it. But you must be worthy, you must have good will and open hearts. My Son enters into open hearts.

I, as a mother, desire that you may all the better come to know my Son -  God born of God - to come to know the greatness of His love which you need so much. He accepted your sins upon Himself and obtained redemption for you, and in return He asked that you love each other.

My Son is love.

Never forget that my Son, one and Triune, loves you. Love your shepherds and pray for them. Thank you.

Mary TV: November 2, 2017 Reflection - All Souls

All Soul's Day

Dear Family of Mary!

Today we pray for all our faithful departed. We remember them with great love, and pray that they are even now enjoying the Beatific Vision, basking in the presence of God. Our Lady told the visionaries to pray for the souls in Purgatory because they need prayer. Here are some early messages about the souls:

July 21, 1982
"There are many souls in Purgatory. There are also persons who have been consecrated to God: some priests, some religious. Pray for their intentions, at least 7 Our Father's, Hail Mary's and Glory Be's and the Creed. I recommend it to you. There is a large number of souls who have been in Purgatory for a long time because no one prays for them."

January 10, 1983
Questioned on the subject of Purgatory, the Blessed Virgin says:
"There are different levels of which the lowest are close to Hell and the highest gradually draw near to Heaven. It is not on All Soul's Day, but at Christmas, that the greatest numbers of souls leave Purgatory. There are in Purgatory, souls who pray ardently to God, but for whom no relative or friend prays for them on earth. God makes them benefit from the prayers of other people. It happens that God permits them to manifest themselves in different ways, close to their relatives on earth, in order to remind men of the existence of Purgatory, and to solicit their prayers close to God who is just, but good. The majority go to Purgatory. Many go to Hell. A small number go directly to Heaven."

November 6, 1986
"Dear children! Today I wish to call you to pray daily for souls in purgatory. For every soul prayer and grace is necessary to reach God and the love of God. By doing this, dear children, you obtain new intercessors who will help you in life to realize that all the earthly things are not important for you, that only Heaven is that for which it is necessary to strive. Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing that you may be able to help yourselves and the others to whom your prayers will bring joy. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Our Lady's compassionate heart communicates to us the needy state of these souls. Let's respond to her request and pray for them today, and every day!

Here is a beautiful prayer for the souls in Purgatory written by St. Alphonsus:
Prayer to Our Lady of Pity
O Lady of Pity, consoler of the afflicted and Mother of all who believe, look mercifully on the poor souls in purgatory who are also your children and more worthy of your pity because of their incapacity to help themselves in the midst of their ineffable sufferings. Pray, dear Co-Redemptrix, intercede for us with the power of your meditation before the Throne of Divine Mercy and in payment for their debt offer up the Life, Passion and Death of your Divine Son, together with your merits and those of all the saints in heaven and the just on earth, so that, with divine justice completely satisfied, they may come into Paradise soon to thank and praise you forever and ever. Amen.
And here is a prayer written by St. John Paul II for the faithful departed:
Blest are the Pure in Heart (From Pope John Paul II, at the Verano Cemetery, Rome, November 1, 1981)
For all our brothers and sisters who rest in the Verano Cemetery and in all the graveyards of Rome and of the world, may the words of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount become the Good News of Eternal salvation.

May the kingdom of heaven be theirs,
May they possess it as a "Promised Land."
May they have eternal joy.
May they be satisfied in their hunger and thirst for righteousness.
May they be called children of God forever.
May they see God face to face.
May their joy and happiness be full and unlimited.
Let us pray:
O God, the glory of believers and the life of the just who saved us by the death and resurrection of your Son, be merciful to our deceased brothers and sisters. When they were in our midst they professed faith in the resurrection; give them endless bliss. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Both prayers can be found in "Praying in the Presence of Our Lord for the Holy Souls in Purgatory", by Susan Tassone. (Our Sunday Visitor. www.osv.com   )
Let's pray every day for the Souls in Purgatory! Our Rosaries are the best prayers for them, and also the Divine Mercy Chaplet!! We have the means to speed their way to God!!

Tonight in many of our communities children will participate in the celebration of Halloween.  It is a secular tradition, in which costumes are used to portray all sorts of scary and eerie characters.  The object of the evening parade is to get candy from your neighbors.  But I, for one, remember having bad dreams about Halloween for many years as a child.  It was not a great experience for me.

That is why I want to share a video with you about a tradition that was started by a community in England, Cor et Lumen Christi.  This community has found a beautiful way to change the eerie tradition of Halloween into a beautiful Night of Light and fun.

Here is the video!  Enjoy!

We are called to the Light!!  Let the saints be models to us and an encouragement to holiness and to fun!!

"May the Saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness..."

I am amazed at how helpful the saints can be. During our Daily Rosary, we have been receiving a saint each day, as a way to stay connected with heaven. We have a little box full of slips of paper, each with the name of a saint on it, and a little quote or description of the saint as well. It seems that the Lord sends us our daily saint very much with a purpose in mind.

For instance, on Saturday, October 28, we receive this saint:

St. John N Neumann, Bishop of Philadelphia - January 5
"Everyone who breathes, high and low, educated and ignorant, young and old, man and woman, has a mission, has a work. We are not sent into this world for nothing; we are not born at random; God creates every soul for a purpose. He needs, He deigns to need, every one of us. We are all equal in His sight, and we are placed in our different ranks and stations, not to get what we can out of them for ourselves, but to labor in them for Him. As Christ has His work, we too have ours; as He rejoiced to do His work, we must rejoice in ours also."
Pray to understand God's plan for your life.

I felt that this saint, and his words about each person being needed, were very important for me on Saturday. And the idea of each of us having a mission was just so powerful. It helped me to pray much more from that heart that day.

This is the grace of the saints. They encourage us. They teach us the way. They show us a little bit more about God each day!

So, as we approach All Saint's Day on Wednesday, let's renew our love for the saints and let them guide us! Mary TV has a small list of saints in PDF form on our website, and it is prepared as an aid for choosing saints for the year. Many people choose a saint for each year, and it can be done on All Saints Day, or on New Year's Day. Whenever you feel led to choose a saint for the year. Just download the PDF and print it out. You can cut up the pages, set up in little squares, so that each saint can be chosen from the group during prayer.

Our shipmates, Ginna and David have updated our list. It will be posted soon, so you can get even more saints into the boat!

Here is the link:

May we allow the saints to teach us, lead us, and pray for us as we try to live the mission that each of us has been given by God. We are all very important to Him!

Mary TV: October 27, 2017 Reflection -Be Prayer!

October 27, 2017

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I am calling you to be prayer in this time of grace. You all have problems, afflictions, sufferings and lack of peace. May saints be models to you and an encouragement for holiness; God will be near you and you will be renewed in seeking through your personal conversion. Faith will be hope to you and joy will begin to reign in your hearts. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 2017)

I received a question from Josephine about this message. "I wonder what it means ... 'be prayer'?"

This is a very good question. Our Lady has said it to us several times. My first response was, "I wonder if it means that we begin to pray so very much, from our heart, all the time, that prayer becomes the basis of who we are. "

This would mean that prayer becomes part of the definition of who I am. I am someone who is constantly oriented towards God. My whole being is seeking God. My every thought is somehow referenced to God and His will, His love, His being. I am focused on God. And finally, I love God with my whole heart, my whole soul, my whole mind and my whole strength.

Our Lady said it this way on August 25, 2015:
"Dear children! Also today I am calling you to be prayer. May prayer be for you the wings for an encounter with God. The world is in a moment of trial, because it forgot and abandoned God. Therefore, you, little children, be those who seek and love God above all. I am with you and I am leading you to my Son, but you must say your 'yes' in the freedom of children of God. I intercede for you and I love you, little children, with an endless love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2015)

At this moment of trial for the whole world, we must "be those who seek and love God above all." That is being prayer. May we respond to Our Lady's call and help her to pull the world back from the brink of disaster, back into the arms of her Son.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: October 25, 2017 Reflection - Let's prepare for the message today.

 (c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

J.M.J.
October 25, 2017
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I am calling you to be generous in renunciation, fasting and prayer for all those who are in temptation, and are your brothers and sisters. In a special way I am imploring you to pray for priests and for all the consecrated, that they may love Jesus still more fervently; that the Holy Spirit may fill their hearts with joy; that they may witness Heaven and Heavenly mysteries. Many souls are in sin, because there are not those who sacrifice themselves and pray for their conversion. I am with you and am praying that your hearts may be filled with joy. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 2017)

Today we hope to receive another message from Our Lady. I like to review the previous message in preparation, and this message is still so amazing to me!
Our Lady asks us to be generous. She asks us to give our renunciation, fasting and prayer for the sake of others! It is hard enough to fast for your own sins, to pray for your own needs and desires. But to fast, pray and practice renunciation for our brothers and sisters who are in temptation? Well, it means we have to set ourselves aside, just forget about ourselves, and care about others.

But when she says that many souls are in sin, because there are not those who sacrifice themselves and pray for their conversion, it breaks my heart. We really are a family. Our brothers and sisters depend on our prayer. They don't know it, but they do. And we need to look after them if we can, through our prayer, fasting and renunciation.

It's a mystery of love, God's economy of love. What a mystery it is!! Just look at Jesus on the Cross. He did it for all of us. Our big brother did it first.

Thanks for responding to Our Lady's call.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
