The Conversion of St. Paul
Dear Children!
"Dear Children! This time also I am inviting you to prayer. Pray that you might be able to comprehend what God desires to tell you through my presence and through the messages I am giving you. I desire to draw you ever closer to Jesus and to His wounded heart that you might be able to comprehend the immeasurable love which gave itself for each one of you. Therefore, dear children, pray that from your heart would flow a fountain of love to every person both to the one who hates you and to the one who despises you. That way you will be able through Jesus' love to overcome all the misery in this world of sorrows, which is without hope for those who do not know Jesus. I am with you and I love you with the immeasurable love of Jesus. Thank you for all your sacrifices and prayers. Pray so I might be able to help you still more. Your prayers are necessary to me. Thank you for having responded to my call."(November 25, 1991)
Today we celebrate the dramatic conversion of St. Paul, on his way to Damascus. St. Paul hated Christians. He was seeking to imprison them and put them to death. Jesus' followers had every right to be afraid of Paul. But we know that they must have been praying for him and forgiving him. St. Stephen forgave him, as he was being stoned to death at Paul's consent. It was this forgiveness, sacrifice, and intercessory prayer that won St. Paul's conversion. And he became a foundation stone of the Church.
Today, Our Lady is calling us to bring about similar dramatic conversions, even in those who hate us and despise us. The process is the same. We witness to Jesus, stay firm in our faith, and forgive our enemies. As we pray for them, they will be snatched from the enemy and brought into the safety of God's family. This is what we all want for every one of them.
What an amazing God we have!!! He loves as no other, and calls us into that love. Incredible!!

Warren County Pa. Church succeeds in winning back tax exemption for its Sanctuary
County attempted to tax church despite state law and Constitution
WARREN COUNTY, Pa. — House of Worship, a church in Warren, Pennsylvania, prevailed last week in a controversy over the taxation of its church building. The County revoked the church’s tax exemption in 2011, even though the property, previously used as a synagogue, had been tax exempt for nearly a century. The church appealed, arguing that churches and other places of religious worship are entitled to tax exemption under the U.S. and Pennsylvania Constitutions and under state law.
“Pennsylvania law recognizes that many institutions, like churches, are entitled to property tax exemption because of the way they benefit society. But that is not the main reason that churches are tax exempt” said Randall Wenger, one of the church’s attorneys and Chief Counsel of the Independence Law Center.
“Churches are entitled to tax exemption because the power to tax is the power to control. Just look at the way the government controls our behavior through the income tax,” continued James Clymer of Clymer, Musser & Conrad, P.C., lead counsel for House of Worship. “The important principle of religious freedom enshrined in our Constitution cannot be maintained if the government begins asserting that kind of power over our churches.”
House of Worship filed an appeal in December of 2011 and a Motion for Summary Judgment in October of 2012. The Court last week ordered that the property be exempt from taxation. “We are gratified that the church can be free from the government picking its pockets and diverting funds that are meant for the church’s ministry,” said Wenger.

Dear Family of Mary!
Josip Zubac sent me some new pictures from Medjugorje yesterday. Among them was this stunning picture of a rainbow that appeared over the village. His mother, Rosie, had written us that same day to say: "It has rained nonstop for days but today it has cleared up with a big rainbow above us now!"
This reminds me of Genesis, chapter 9. After many days of rain, enough rain to cover the whole earth and destroy all living things, God stopped the rain. When Noah disembarked from the ark, he sacrificed to the Lord in thanksgiving. And the Lord accepted his sacrifice:
I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth." And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh...."This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth." (Gen. 9:11-17)
The rainbow is the sign of God's covenant, His great mercy and blessing upon us, even though we are sinful. God is merciful and always wants to show us His mercy. So after days of rain in Medjugorje, God's mercy has shown out again!
Our Lady gave a message in 1987 about God's blessing. She urged us all to pray. Here is what she said:
"Dear children! Today also I am calling you to prayer. You know, dear children, that God grants special graces in prayer. Therefore, seek and pray in order that you may be able to comprehend all that I am giving here. I call you, dear children, to prayer with the heart. You know that without prayer you cannot comprehend all that God is planning through each one of you. Therefore, pray! I desire that through each one of you God's plan may be fulfilled, that all which God has planted in your heart may keep on growing. So pray that God's blessing may protect each one of you from all the evil that is threatening you. I bless you, dear children. Thank you for having responded to my call." April 25, 1987
"So pray that God's blessing may protect each one of you..." God wants to protect us and bless us. If we seek His plan for our lives we will be blessed. If we comprehend the great blessings God is pouring out on us in these days, we will say "yes" to them, and enter into God's blessing. May the rainbow that appeared yesterday be a sign for all of us of God's blessing and mercy, and may we enter into that blessing with all our hearts!

McCrea: The Reason for the Decline of the Catholic Church in the Western World Today Many reasons have been given for the decline of the Catholic Church in the Western world today - that is, a decline in Her influence, Her numbers, faithfulness to Her teachings by Her members, and vocations to the priesthood. But I believe that there is one over-arching reason for that. And that reason has been a marginalization of the Eucharist in the Church after Vatican II - as I define the Eucharist as the True Presence of Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the appearances of bread and wine in the Consecrated Species. Although the Trinity is central to our Faith in an objective sense, the Eucharist must be central to our Faith in an experiential sense - that is, it must be central to the consciousness of the faithful believer. It is the center - that is the glue - that holds everything else in the Faith together. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. Without that center - without that glue - everything in the Faith is simply a disparate collection of notions and actions and everything falls apart. That is what we have seen happen in the Church in the Western world in recent years.The Eucharist has been marginalized in subtle ways, by putting Jesus in the Tabernacle off to the side, by removing Altar rails, receiving Jesus in Communion standing and in the hand as the norm, and as the norm the priest facing the people rather than God when confecting the Sacred Mysteries. This has a subtle but definite effect of downgrading the importance of the Eucharistic Jesus in people's minds, so that the difference is narrowed between a Catholic Mass and a Protestant worship service. This being the case, many people easily leave the Catholic Church for a Protestant sect if they receive greater emotional satisfaction there. This is combined with weak or non-existent preaching on the Eucharist from many pulpits.As the sun illuminates everything in the physical world, the Eucharistic Jesus illuminates everything in the Catholic Church. For the Church to be revived, that must shine again. Not only must many of the old liturgical practices and symbolisms be restored, but Eucharistic preaching must be made front and center, and it must be preached how everything in the Faith radiates from it. Transubstantiation must once again be made front and center of Eucharistic preaching. It must be preached that the Eucharist that one receives in Holy Communion has the look, the taste, and the feel of bread - that is, all the sense qualities of bread - but that no reality of bread is present - that the reality of Jesus Christ is present instead, so that in Communion one literally and physically receives Jesus. It must be instilled in the minds of the faithful that Transubstantiation is a supernatural mystery of the highest order. The nature of the priesthood must be preached, as the priest is the instrument of the Holy Spirit who changes bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus at Mass to make the Eucharist present. If the Eucharistic reality were strongly instilled in people's minds, with that connection to the priesthood, we would see a dramatic increase in vocations to the priesthood. Apostolic succession must be preached, so that the cause of the priesthood is grounded in the historical action of Jesus. Bishops make priests, and bishops are made by previous bishops - a line that goes back to the Apostles, who were the first bishops, who were given the power of Holy Orders by Jesus Himself at the Last Supper. It then must be preached how the Eucharist is related to all the other aspects of the Faith. The Eucharist, first of all, connects us to the Trinity. The Eucharist, in substance, is one and the same as Jesus Christ Himself, the second person of the Trinity, who has taken on human flesh and walked among us. The Son is eternally begotten by the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Eucharist is connected to the Passion of our Lord. For at Mass there is a double consecration. Bread is changed into the Body of Christ, and then wine is changed into His Blood, to bring the Eucharist into existence. The separate consecrations of bread into Body and wine into Blood, symbolize the separation of Jesus' Body and Blood on the Cross, and is mystically united to it, making the Mass the same Sacrifice of Calvary (I have never heard that preached from the pulpit in my life). The Eucharist is directly related to the Resurrection, for it is the Resurrected Christ who is present in the Eucharist, and since the Body and Blood of Jesus are now forever united, where His Blood is so is His Body, and where His Body is so is His Blood. As a result, in the species of bread there is His Blood, and in the species of wine there is His Body. In either of the species of bread or wine is the full Christ - Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. The Eucharist is related to Baptism, for in Baptism we are initiated into the Life of God, and become a supernaturally alive organism in Him which allows us to receive the supernatural food of the Eucharist.The Eucharist is related to the sacrament of Confession. For it is confession that makes us fit to receive the Eucharistic Jesus if we have fallen into mortal sin, or makes us perfectly clean so that we are most open to Him if we were guilty of only venial sin. In the practical dimension of life, both fervent Communion and Eucharistic Adoration give us the graces to practice chastity in our state of life and love God and our neighbor as Christ commands.All other teachings of the Catholic Church can be related to the Eucharist in some manner, and the reader can come up with many other suggestions. The Catholic Church will be revived if the Eucharist is once again made central in preaching, symbolism, and liturgical practice, for it has been the strategy of Satan to marginalize the Eucharist in an attempt to bring down the Catholic Church. This trend must be reversed. When the Eucharistic Jesus is once again made the Sun of the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church will come brilliantly alive again.

RECENTLY, after a talk I gave to a group of university students on what the popes have been saying about the “end times”, a young man pulled me aside with a question. “So, if we are living in the “end times,” what are we supposed to do about it?” It’s an excellent question, which I went on to answer in my next talk with them.
These webpages exist for a reason: to propel us toward God! But I know it provokes other questions: “What am I to do?” “How does this change my current situation?” “Should I be doing more to prepare?”
I’ll let Paul VI answer the question, and then expand on it:

Dear Family of Mary!
This is one of the most precious messages Our Lady has given us in Medjugorje. I opened to it as I was preparing for this reflection, and immediately knew that it was for us today.
"Dear children! My invitation that you live the messages which I am giving you is a daily one, specially, little children, because I want to draw you closer to the Heart of Jesus. Therefore, little children, I am inviting you today to the prayer of consecration to Jesus, my dear Son, so that each of you may be His. And then I am inviting you to the consecration of my Immaculate Heart. I want you to consecrate yourselves as parents, as families and as parishioners so that all belong to God through my heart. Therefore, little children, pray that you comprehend the greatness of this message which I am giving you. I do not want anything for myself, rather all for the salvation of your soul. Satan is strong and therefore, you, little children, by constant prayer, press tightly against my motherly heart. Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 25, 1988)
As tensions rise in the world, we need to live our consecration to Jesus and Mary more and more intensely. "Satan is strong and therefore, you, little children, by constant prayer, press tightly against my motherly heart." Thank you, Lord Jesus, for such a Mother. Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children (USA)
Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! I invite you now to be open to God. See, children, how nature is opening herself and is giving life and fruits. In the same way I invite you to live with God and to surrender completely to him. Children, I am with you and I want to introduce you continuously to the joy of life. I desire that everyone may discover the joy and love which can be found only in God and which only God can give. God doesn't want anything from you only your surrender. Therefore, children, decide seriously for God because everything else passes away. Only God doesn't pass away. Pray to be able to discover the greatness and joy of life which God gives you. Thank you for having responded to my call." (May 25, 1989)
God is all about life. He is the Creator. The Genesis account of creation jubilantly describes God's desire to create life abundantly, profusely, extravagantly!!! As God declares "Let there be...." it appears that He is wildly joyful at the prospect of life!! God is not stingy. He likes to create lots and lots of living beings, in all shapes and sizes, colors and forms. As we have experienced on such science videos as the BBC's "Planet Earth", the vastness and variation of creation is mind-boggling. God loves life!!
And so, on this sad day, when 40 years ago in America, our Supreme Court bowed to the desires of some, and allowed abortion to be legal, we turn to our God of life in sorrow and repentance, and surrender ourselves again to Him, in hopes that He can rescue us from our own sinfulness and the sins of others. We beg Him to once again give us all the joy of life!! We ask Him to deliver us from our folly, and help us to discover the greatness and joy of life which only He can give.
I knew a man named Gene, a good Catholic father. He loved life, and with his beautiful wife, chose to accept life in the joy of God. They gave life to 16 children. They lived on a small farm, where he grew all kinds of food and milked his own cows. He loved life! His children called him "Green Daddy"! It was an apt title. Gene taught me a lot about God, the Creator and the joy of life. I think we could call our Heavenly Father, "Green Daddy" as well. God creates all life, and He wants it to multiply and grow. May we surrender to Him and say "yes" to life!
Only God can solve this terrible spiral of death we have chosen. Our "Green Daddy" can save us. May we "discover the greatness and joy of life which God gives [us]!"

Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children; today I call you to a difficult and painful step for your unity with my Son. I call you to complete admission and confession of sins, to purification. An impure heart cannot be in my Son and with my Son. An impure heart cannot give the fruit of love and unity. An impure heart cannot do correct and just things; it is not an example of the beauty of God's love to those who surround it and to those who have not come to know that love. You, my children, are gathering around me full of enthusiasm, desires and expectations, and I implore the Good Father to, through the Holy Spirit, put my Son - faith, into your purified hearts. My children, obey me, set out with me." As Our Lady was leaving, to her left she showed darkness and to her right a Cross in golden light." (July 2nd, 2011)
Here is the picture of the stained glass window of the Coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles that I sat under at Holy Mass. Isn't it beautiful! As you can see, the apostles are gathered around Our Lady, gazing upon her, drawing close to her, as she draws down the Holy Spirit upon them all. She gazes upwards to the heavens, receiving her Spouse with joy and awe. The Apostles receive as well. They have spent nine days with Our Lady, learning to pray to be ready for this moment! And as the Holy Spirit falls upon them, the Church is born!
Our Lady tells us in this message that we are all gathered around her "full of enthusiasm, desires and expectations..." Like the Apostles, we are able to be in Our Lady's presence as well. And she implores the Good Father "to, through the Holy Spirit, put [her] Son - faith, into [our] purified hearts." Mother Mary is praying for us to receive the Holy Spirit who brings Jesus into our hearts. She wants us to be empowered to set out with her on the way to heaven. She wants us to be filled with grace, as she is, so that we can in turn draw others to God.
But there is a prerequisite. Our Lady tells us in this message that we must be purified. We must go to confession, and be freed from our sins and sinful desires. Think again of the Apostles. They spent forty days with the Risen Jesus, during which time they were all reconciled with Him. Most of them had abandoned Jesus during the Passion. At least, Peter had denied Him. They had to come to terms with their cowardice, and earthly attachments, so that they could make a total consecration of themselves to the Lord. This reconciliation process was completed and Jesus ascended into heaven. Then they spent nine days with Our Lady, learning how to pray, how to remain faithful, how to trust in the Lord, even though He was ascended. During this time, Mary showed them how to live in faith. And that faith was what would prepare them to receive the Holy Spirit in power!
Our Lady wants to do the same for us. Through reconciliation and repentance, we can be purified to receive the Holy Spirit. And it is Mary who will lead us in faith, to be open to His coming. Let's look to her, as the Apostles did. Let's set out with Mary!

Mirjana: Visionaries are not important

The Medjugorje seers are only a means to communicate a message, and so they are no more important than the pilgrims who basically have the same role, says visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo. The privileged people are the priests, adds the seer who says the key is opening the heart.

Ascribing too much importance to visionaries can prevent some people from seeing that they are just as important themselves, and have many opportunities in spite of not being seers, Medjugorje visionary Mirjana Dragicevic-Soldo says in a so far un-translated August 2012 interview with the Italian online magazine Io Acqua e Sapone.
“You do not need visionaries, all you need is an open heart, because the Blessed Virgin says: “Open your heart, and I will be with you.” We seers are only a means, we must only say what God wants to say through our Mother, but you have the same importance, as apostles for our Mother and in bringing this with you into your homes and cities” Mirjana says.

The visionary tells she has plenty of examples, and that these examples highlight the importance of opening the heart by means of prayer and fasting, and asking the Virgin Mary to help:
“After the apparitions on the second day of every month, I have seen many people who came to me to say they had been healed, and they had come to know the love of God. I did not know those people, I did not ask anything for them, but they had their hearts open and asked for their Mother’s help, and she interceded for them with her Son. I tell you this to let you know how much you need our Mother” Mirjana says.

“When Our Lady asks us to fast and to pray the Rosary, it is not because she needs our rosaries or our fasting, but because we need this. Because in this way our heart opens more and more, and the more we see, and so we see the problems of our friend who is carrying a big cross, and we see who needs bread.”
“But this is only when our heart is open. It is useless to pray and fast if you close your eyes when you see someone who needs help and do nothing” says the seer.
“So even if it is just a little, our prayer is good, because we are on a good road and Our Lady will help us. She opens up her heart, she teaches us how to pray stronger, and with the heart. You just have to go and ask the Virgin Mary to help you.”
Mirjana greeting a priest, the only kind of people the visionary receognizes as privileged. “There are the times we are living in now, and there will be the time of the Triumph of the Heart of our Mother. Between these two times, there is a bridge, and that bridge is our priests” she says
If the visionaries are not particularly privileged people, another group is actually set apart and special, says Mirjana:
“As I understand it by looking at the messages, if someone are privileged for our Mother, it is our priests. She says: “They do not need your judgment or your criticism, but your prayers and your love, for God will judge them for how they were as priests, but He will judge you for your behavior with the priests.” Our Lady wants for us that we are recognized for love, only God can judge” she says.
“I am sorry that I cannot tell you more about everything that Our Lady is preparing in all these years, but I can tell you one thing: there are the times we are living in now, and there will be the time of the Triumph of the Heart of our Mother.”
“Between these two times, there is a bridge, and that bridge is our priests. That is why Our Lady insists so much on prayer for them, because that bridge must be very strong to ensure that everyone can pass. Our Lady said: “With them, I will triumph.”

VATICAN CITY, January 18, 2013 – The Vatileaks affair, with the pope's butler sentenced and then pardoned for stealing confidential documents, has taught the whole world about the existence in the Vatican of a judicial system analogous to that of other states, complete with judges and lawyers, tribunals and judicial police.
In recent days, this reality has come back to the forefront with the unprecedented audience of Benedict XVI with the corps of the Vatican gendarmeria on January 11, and with the solemn inauguration of the judicial year of Vatican City-State celebrated the following day.
On the occasion of this latter event, the adjunct promoter of justice, the lawyer Pierfrancesco Grossi, cited Vatileaks only implicitly in his presentation.
He did so at the beginning of his speech, to note how “the year just concluded was particularly demanding” for “well-known” reasons, “in part because of the prominence in the mass media of criminal actions perpetrated in the territory of the State, but with effects outside of it as well.”
And he made reference to it again towards the end, in order to explain that “in relation to the well-known criminal matters” in the Vatican it was also necessary to activate the office of the “judge of criminal sentencing,” pointing out, again implicitly, that in recent times there had never been cases of defendants sentenced and imprisoned, as happened with the former butler Paolo Gabriele.
