Here's todays Traditional "O" Antiphon:
O Root of Jesse, who stood as a sign for the people,
before you kings shall remain silent,
and to you the Gentiles shall make supplication:
come to deliver us, and delay not.
before you kings shall remain silent,
and to you the Gentiles shall make supplication:
come to deliver us, and delay not.
Live the "Holy Night" every night! How? By meditating on the Joyful Mysteries each day of our lives! Think about the Light (Jesus) who came down from Heaven into the deep dark night of this world, enslaved by sin and beyond hope or salvation. Who could save humanity, except God Himself!
But the world, even the Chosen People were not ready for this Messiah. They wanted a Knight on a shining horse to defeat their enemies and reign as their king. They couldn't accept a "suffering Messiah!
Then the "Light" appeared; a little infant was born and no one was expecting Him, no one received Him, except Mary and Joseph, some poor and humble shepherds, and three Wise men, Gentiles, who represented all of us. They gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh; we give Him our very lives, our souls, our wills!
Christ is born! Now redemption begins! Jesus is born to redeem everyone of their sins.
Let us stay close to the Crib of Jesus, with Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and yes, the Wise men, because as the old saying goes: "Wise men still follow Jesus!"
