Mary Vitamin for January 1st
Topic: The Holy Mother of God
Quote:
John Paul II
"Entering the new year, let us ask this holy Mother to bless us. Let us ask Her to give us Jesus, our full Blessing, in whom the Father blessed all history once and for all, making it become the history of salvation."
Meditation:
On July 18, 1830
St. Catherine Laboure's Guardian Angel said:
"Here is the Blessed Virgin"
"[Catherine] held back no more, but threw herself at Our Lady's knee and rested her hands in Our Lady's lap. Then she lifted her head and looked up, up into her Mother's eyes. Many years later she was to write with ecstatic remembrance of this moment, that it was the sweetest of her life."
Father Dirvin, St. Catherine Laboure, (Tan Books: 1986), 83.
From the age of nine, upon the death of her earthly mother, St. Catherine Laboure turned to the Blessed Virgin as truly her mother. As an adult, Our Lady greatly rewarded her for her devotion. In the convent chapel on Rue de Bac, Paris, the Heavenly Queen and her beloved daughter conversed for two hours. St. Catherine remained with her hands in Our Lady's lap and kneeling at Her side for the entire visit. No other visionary can boast such physical closeness to Our Lady.
Resolution:
Today, on the feast of the Holy Mother of God and as the
first day of a new calendar year, I resolve to take the Blessed
Virgin Mary as truly my Mother. I will think of this through
the day: when I pray the Angelus, see Her image, pray the
Rosary, notice my scapular, and touch my Miraculous
Medal.
Marian Vow:
Pope Benedict XVI
"Let us begin this new year, therefore, by looking at Mary whom we received from God's hands as a precious 'talent' to be made fruitful, a providential opportunity to contribute to bringing about the Kingdom of God."
St. Peter's Basilica
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.
