+ J.M.J July 12, 2012 Dear Family of Mary! "Dear children! Today I call you to prayer. I am with you and I love you all. I am your Mother and I wish that your hearts be similar to my heart. Little children, without prayer you cannot live and say that you are mine. Prayer is joy. Prayer is what the human heart desires. Therefore, get closer, little children, to my Immaculate Heart and you will discover God. Thank you for having responded to my call." (November 25, 1994) I love this message. Today during the online Rosary, I pulled this message from the message box. My heart leapt when I read it. Our Lady could not be more clear. In this message she reveals the essence of her coming in Medjugorje. She is with us in Medjugorje to call us first and foremost to prayer. Prayer is indispensable. It is necessary for each human being to pray. Without prayer, we cannot be united to God. If we do not pray, we will not know God, love Him or serve Him. Prayer connects us to our Lord. Only prayer can bring us into a living relationship with Him. Only prayer, always prayer. Likewise, only prayer will bring us into contact with Our Lady. She comes to us by means of prayer. Getting closer to Mary is only possible through prayer. We can't just wish to be closer, we must act. We must take our Rosaries and pray. If we respond to her call to pray, we will find our hearts becoming more and more like her Heart. Our hearts will become purer, more silent, more open, more compassionate, more integrated and focused on God alone. The more we pray, the more we will have hearts similar to her Heart. Her Heart is a heart of intense prayer. So, if we get closer to her, we will find ourselves face to face with God. Her Heart leads to His Heart! And His Heart is pure joy! In His Heart we discover all our desires met. So prayer really is what the human heart desires. In his Apostolic Letter "Rosarium Virginis Mariae", Blessed John Paul II wrote: Many signs indicate that still today the Blessed Virgin desires to exercise through this same prayer [the Rosary] that maternal concern to which the dying Redeemer entrusted, in the person of the beloved disciple, all the sons and daughters of the Church: "Woman, behold your son!" (Jn 19:26). Well-known are the occasions in the nineteenth and the twentieth centuries on which the Mother of Christ made her presence felt and her voice heard, in order to exhort the People of God to this form of contemplative prayer...(n. 7) Indeed Our Lady has made her presence felt and her voice heard in recent times. Though the Holy Father mentions only Lourdes and Fatima, you can feel him hinting at Medjugorje ("Many signs indicate that STILL today..."). Our Lady is indeed making her presence known and her voice heard. She is calling us to prayer, to deep contemplative prayer. She wants us to be formed into loving hearts like her heart, capable of an eternal relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! May we all increase our commitment to prayer in response to Our Lady's call: "Therefore, get closer, little children, to my Immaculate Heart and you will discover God." In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
