May 16, 1985 "Dear children! I am calling you to a more active prayer and attendance at Holy Mass. I wish your Mass to be an experience of God. I wish especially to say to the young people: be open to the Holy Spirit because God wishes to draw you to Himself in these days when satan is at work. Thank you for having responded to my call."
Today is the first day of the 28th Youth Festival Medjugorje. Young
people are gathering in Medjugorje from the entire world to spend six
days of prayer, Holy Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament,
catechesis, testimonies, and jubilant praise of God together! It is a
glorious time of hope and joy, spent in the presence of Our Lady who has
inspired this gathering since 1990!

Mary TV will be streaming the events, live, all week. We also hope
to have short testimonies from some of the participants posted on our

I was reading some of the testimonies of young people at the youth
festivals in the past, and they are all wonderful. Here is a testimony
from the 25th Youth Festival:
Benedikt von Perger: "The Adoration is the most beautiful for me"
Benedikt von Perger, a 16 year old young
man from Germany arrived in Medjugorje for the Youth Festival. He said
that he is in Medjugorje for the 16th time and is thrilled to see this
great number of people who are surrendering to God, but said that the
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the most beautiful for him, when
all young people in silence adore Jesus and look at Him - Jesus in the
tabernacle. He also told us: "It is so hard to make young people do
something in silence because whenever they go out, there is loud music
around them and here they are all gathered in the complete silence. I am
so impressed by that. I am here every year and this is what fulfills
me.
Benedikt says it well. In the silence of prayer, in the Adoration
of Jesus, so much happens!! It is a time of transformation of the heart.
Let's pray for the young people gathering today in Medjugorje that they
will find that silence in prayer and enter into the peace and
transforming love of Jesus!
Please pray that the Lord will protect the young people from the
intense heat that is predicted in Medjugorje this week. Lord have mercy
on these young people, and cover them with your protection.
