Our Blessed Lord said,
“I came to cast fire upon the earth and how I wish it were already blazing!” (Lk.12:49).

Jesus is the All-Consuming Fire of God’s Living Flame of Love.
In His zealous devotion towards us, He ardently desires to set our hearts on fire with the love of His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit of the Resurrected Christ is the glory of the Living Flame of Love. To love God passionately with all of one’s being is what the symbol of fire best spiritually represents. This transformation in love is what we are created for! It is what makes us fully human, the key to happiness, the secret of sanctity, and the glory of eternal life!

In this last session of our four part Building on Solid Rock Retreat, we will make all we have covered in the previous sessions concrete as we explore the practices of the Flame of Love.
We must root the many practices of the Flame of Love to the grace we have been exploring lest we fall into any of the ditches of spiritual pride, guilt, or despair. We will discuss why Jesus seems “so hard on Elizabeth” and how to put all that is asked of us in perspective. It is through these practices that we come to know the love that surpasses knowledge and are able to “blind Satan in an increasingly large range of actions.”
