Mary TV: September 14, 2018 Reflection - The more you will come close to Him...

(c)Mateo Ivankovic

September 14, 2018
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross

Dear Family of Mary!

Our Lady said to us on September 2nd:

"My Son is the life of the world. The more that you come to know Him-the more that you come close to Him-all the more you will love Him, because my Son is love..."

With Our Lady's words in mind, listen to the Second Reading for Holy Mass today:

Brothers and sisters:
Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God something to be grasped.
Rather, he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance,
he humbled himself,
becoming obedient to death,
even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:6-11)

How can we not love Jesus, more and more, as we ponder these words? To know Him is to love Him. Thank you, dearest Jesus, for humbling Yourself, taking the form of a slave, and then dying on the Cross, for us. Thank you, dearest Jesus, for loving us sooooooo much!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 13, 2018 Reflection - The more you come to know Him...

(c)Anthony Zubac/Mary TV

September 13, 2018
St. John Chrysostom

Dear Family of Mary!

"...My Son is the life of the world. The more that you come to know Him-the more that you come close to Him-all the more you will love Him, because my Son is love." (September 2, 2018)

Our Lady speaks so simply to us. She could probably spout off the deepest theology and philosophy, making our heads spin with her penetrating explanations of Jesus. She could. But she never would. She speaks to her little ones, her children. Her words are deep, very deep, but they are simple.

"My Son is the life of the world. The more that you come to know Him-the more that you come close to Him-all the more you will love Him, because my Son is love."
The only response to Jesus is love. If we do not love Him, we have not come to know Him, we have not come close to Him.

The Baltimore Catechism said in Lesson First: on the End of Man, Question 6:
Q. Why did God make you?
A. God made me to know Him, to love, Him and to Serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in heaven."

It always struck me that we first have to "know Him" and then we move on to "love Him." Love is enkindled by knowing Jesus. Love comes to birth in our souls as we become acquainted with Jesus, learn about Him, understand His life and how He died for our sins. Love bursts into flames when we finally open our hearts to an encounter with Jesus, because He is present and waiting for us to meet Him in prayer. Through prayer we get closer and closer to Jesus. And getting closer only feeds our love, because we know Him better and better that way.
It gives me such peace to know that God made us to know Him. He wants us to know Him. He can't wait to show us more and more of Himself, even in eternity. His heart is open to being known!

And that knowing will be the fuel of love! We will love Him to distraction, forever! Because He is love, He is love, He is love!

It also makes me so peaceful to know that God made us to serve Him. Serving the Lord is what completes our loving Him. Love is frustrated until the lover can express that love in action, through serving the beloved. So, we can see how much God wants us to love Him truly, because He allows us to serve Him, because He wants our love to be complete, to be expressed, to be given!

Well, Our Lady may speak simply, but it is certain, she speaks with truth and power. Her messages are designed to bring us to her Son, who is the life of the world!! Thank you dearest Mother, for helping us to come to know your Son!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 12, 2018 Reflection - The Most Holy Name of Mary!

Mary, Mother of the Living God!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017

September 12, 2018
The Most Holy Name of Mary!

Dear Family of Mary!

Today's Memorial of the Most Holy Name of Mary points to some powerful realities about our Mother. She has indeed been highly favored by the Father in Heaven. Her name is sacred. Just as the Jews would never say the Name of God, reserving it only for the High Priest, once a year, because it is so holy, so the Angel Gabriel did not use the name of Mary in the Annunciation. It was a sign of reverence and respect to Our Lady, that Gabriel instead called her "full of grace."

There is a full treatment of the Name of Mary at this website: http://www.catholictradition.org/Mary/marys-name.htm

But for me, it is enough to just think of how blessed Our Lady was by God, to be reserved from Original Sin, to be born and raised in such holiness, to be asked to become the mother of God's Son, to bear Him in her womb and after He was born to live with Jesus for 30 years, to follow Him and assist Him in His public ministry, to accompany Him in His Passion and Death, and to become a Mother to the Apostles and to pray with them for the Holy Spirit, and then to quietly spend the rest of her life praying in intercession for all of us. Now she lives in Heaven, but is as close to us as she can possibly be, through unity of heart and through her presence in Medjugorje. Mary is our incredible Mother!
Today, then, we will recall the glory of Mary in our hearts. We can pray this Litany of the Holy Name of Mary. How can we thank You enough, dearest Father in Heaven, for Mary, our Mother!!

Mary TV: September 11, 2018 Reflection - Twin Towers!

(c)Anthony Zubac/Mary TV 2018

September 11, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!
Today is the 17th Anniversary of the terrorist attack on the New York Trade Center, with its twin towers. We mourn the loss of the thousands of people who died that day. It was a terrifying moment in history.

Denis was due to fly to Medjugorje on the next day, September 12. And of course there were no flights for some time. Life seemed to stand still as we watched the towers burn and crash to the ground amidst the chaos in the streets of New York.

Amazingly, we have a testimony, just given yesterday for Fruit of Medjugorje, by a young priest from Scotland, Fr. Francis Trias. And he shares about his experience on September 11, 2001 - when he was about to travel to Medjugorje as well.
Here is a little snippet from his testimony, in which he talks about 9/11 and his first pilgrimage to Medjugorje:

That pilgrimage itself, was a special experience. Because I had never experience a Marian pilgrimage, or a pilgrimage as such. And it is very vivid, it sticks in my mind because of the time that it happened. It was at the time of the September 11 attacks.

And I remember coming here (Medjugorje) the week after. I remember being surprised that we were able to fly so soon, given the tensions. But I remember going from the tensions back home, from the west, with those horrific images of the destruction of the Trade Center, and then suddenly finding myself here in the tremendous peace of this place of peace. And then St. James Church, celebrating Mass and Confessions, and Adorations! It was tremendous peace in the midst of all that chaos. There was a tremendous peace here.

And anyone who knows St. James Church knows there are the little "twin towers" and that always struck me. The contrast of the destruction and the peace. And that pilgrimage, though it wasn't a "Road to Damascus" moment, was certainly a foundational moment where my heart certainly was moved to invite God, and Mary especially, into my life. (Fr. Francis Trias, testimony)

What amazes me is that at the very moment when Satan thought he was triumphing in New York and sending fear over the whole world, in Medjugorje a vocation was being born. God was bringing hope through a young man even when things seemed darkest for the world.
Our Lady gave this message on September 25, 2001, just two weeks after 9/11:

September 25, 2001 "Dear children! Also today I call you to prayer, especially today when satan wants war and hatred. I call you anew, little children: pray and fast that God may give you peace. Witness peace to every heart and be carriers of peace in this world without peace. I am with you and intercede before God for each of you. And you do not be afraid because the one who prays is not afraid of evil and has no hatred in the heart. Thank you for having responded to my call."

"The one who prays is not afraid of evil and has no hatred in the heart..." This is what makes Medjugorje a place of peace. Prayer is the way to peace. God has a plan for peace that is being unveiled in Medjugorje. Fr. Francis is a piece of that plan, a fruit of that plan, a priest for the new days that Our Lady says are coming!!

Thank you, dearest Mother, for your twin towers of peace!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 10, 2018 Reflection - To breathe in Our Lady's words!

(c)Anthony Zubac/Mary TV 2018

September 10, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!

As I began to prayerfully read the September 2nd message again, it seemed that this message has a very strong anointing on it. Just to slowly and prayerfully read it brings peace to me. I usually struggle with the messages, trying to find the deeper meaning, or discover what I need to change in my life. But this message is like poetry, it reads so naturally and says so much with so few words.

So I just can't dissect it right now. Rather I want to live with it for another day. I want to breathe in Our Lady's words to us, ingest them, walk with them, embrace them, behold them. I want to let them act in me and change me, with God's grace and the Holy Spirit's power.

We can talk about them another day!

Dear children, my words are simple but are filled with motherly love and care.
My children, all the more the shadows of darkness and deception are being cast over you, and I am calling you to the light and truth-I am calling you to my Son. Only He can transform despair and suffering into peace and clarity; only He can give hope in the deepest pain.
My Son is the life of the world.
The more that you come to know Him-the more that you come close to Him-all the more you will love Him, because my Son is love. Love changes everything; it makes most beautiful also that which, without love, seems insignificant to you. That is why, anew, I am saying to you that you must love a lot if you desire to grow spiritually.
I know, apostles of my love, that it is not always easy, but, my children, also the painful paths are paths which lead to spiritual growth, to faith, and to my Son. My children, pray-think of my Son. In all the moments of the day, raise your soul to Him, and I will gather your prayers as flowers from the most beautiful garden and give them as a gift to my Son.
Be true apostles of my love; spread the love of my Son to everyone. Be gardens of the most beautiful flowers. With your prayers help your shepherds that they may be spiritual fathers filled with love for all people. Thank you. (September 2, 2018)

Mary TV: September 6, 2018 Reflection - Even the Rosary alone!

(c)Mateo Ivankovic 2017
September 6, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today, like never before, I invite you to prayer. Let your prayer be a prayer for peace. Satan is strong and desires to destroy not only human life, but also nature and the planet on which you live. Therefore, dear children, pray that through prayer you can protect yourselves with God's blessing of peace. God has sent me among you so that I may help you. If you so wish, grasp for the rosary. Even the rosary alone can work miracles in the world and in your lives. I bless you and I remain with you for as long as it is God's will. Thank you for not betraying my presence here and I thank you because your response is serving the good and the peace."  (01/25/91)

Denis reminded me of this powerful message given to us in 1991 when war was brewing in the Balkans. Our Lady later said,
" Dear children, Today I thank you for your prayers. All of you have helped me so that this war may end as soon as possible. I am close to you and I pray for each one of you and I beg you: pray, pray, pray. Only through prayer can we defeat evil and protect all that satan wants to destroy in your lives. I am your Mother and I love you all equally, and I intercede for you before God. Thank you for having responded to my call." (02/25/94)

The Rosaries prayed by Our Lady's children did help to bring peace.  But Our Lady warned us that prayer was going to be even more important in the days ahead.  "Pray, Pray, Pray" was her call to us then and her call to us now.

I think we are now at a moment in which the pressure is again building on several fronts, all pointing to turmoil and destruction in our world. I believe this message is timely. And I believe it is the Rosary that has the power to work miracles in the world today. The Rosary alone is enough!  Even one Rosary alone is enough if prayed with the heart.  The Rosary alone!!!
I find it impossible to stop praying the Rosary these days. When I wake up I start in, because I do not have the strength to do anything on my own. Each day it is the Rosary that gets me through, hour after hour.

When I pray the Rosary as I work, I find more peace, and better focus. I don't feel alone. I feel part of God's family, and part of His plan for the world.

And so I urge everyone to turn to God through prayer, especially the Rosary. Give time to prayer. Give space in your heart for prayer. Pray the Rosary for peace. Pray the Rosary for the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Pray the Rosary for the salvation of souls. Don't stop. Not now. This time is critical.

"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2018)

Mary TV: September 5, 2018 Reflection - St. Teresa of Calcutta

September 5, 2018
St. Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call."  (August 25, 2018)

Today is the Memorial of St. Teresa of Calcutta, our dear Mother Teresa. She did not leave a lot of written texts. Rather she left a huge garden of souls filled with love and joy. She was a doer of the Word. And we all love her so much.

But she did say something about prayer. Here are two quotes on prayer from Mother Teresa:

Everything starts with prayer. Love to pray--feel the need to pray often during the day and take the trouble to pray. If you want to pray better, you must pray more. The more you pray, the easier it becomes. Perfect prayer does not consist of many words but in the fervor of the desire which raises the heart to Jesus.
St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Silence is the root of our union with God and with one another. In silence we are filled with the energy of God Himself that makes us do all things in joy. The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life.
St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Mother's words echo Our Lady's words to us on August 25th. Silence comes when we speak less. Prayer improves when we pray more!
Mother Teresa, we ask you to pray for us, that we will faithfully follow Our Lady in these most difficult days, bringing light, peace, hope and prayer to this tired world. Thank you, dear Mother Teresa, for your motherly life. You are so much like Our Lady!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: September 4, 2018 Reflection - The Rosary, a spiritual warfare prayer!

(c)Anthony Zubac/ Mary TV

September 4, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!
"...My children, all the more the shadows of darkness and deception are being cast over you, and I am calling you to the light and truth - I am calling you to my Son..." (September 2, 2018)

The more I read over the September 2nd message, the more I feel the importance of the sentence above. Our Lady tells us that darkness and deception are being cast over us. (The current affairs in the Church are witness to this truth.) It is as if darkness and deception are a cloak that is being thrown over us, to capture us. I believe that the word "cast" is important. Those who do evil "cast" spells. They "cast" evil hexes and spells over their victims to harm them. I believe that is exactly what is going on. The enemy is working to cast darkness and deception over the world, over each of us, in order to harm us and hobble us. We see the fruit of such casting all around us.

Our Lady tells us that she is calling us to the light and truth, to her Son! She is standing against these castings, and offering us the truth and light of Jesus. And I sense that she has given us the means to answering that call, through the Rosary. It has occurred to me that the prayers of the Rosary are spiritual warfare prayers. They are not just nice platitudes or holy gestures, but in fact they are powerful weapons against the castings of the enemy.

Think about it. The Sign of the Cross places us directly in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, by means of their name. We are in the Father, in the Son and in the Holy Spirit. Powerful place to put our souls! Safe from all evil!!

Then the Creed! We pray that powerful statement of truth at the very beginning of the Rosary. It is brimming with light. It is packed with the truth, from start to finish. I am sure each phrase of the Creed smacks the head of the enemy with a terrible blow! This is spiritual warfare.

Then we pray the "Our Father"!

"Our Father, who art in heaven." We place ourselves in the family of God, with the Father as our head. We recognize that He is in heaven, that there is a heaven, and it is our home. This is light and hope for us each time we say it, light and hope that stops the enemy's lies.

"Hallowed be thy name." How many times is God's name taken in vain by our enemies. They hate God. But we bless Him. We give all honor and glory to Him. He is our Lord and Father.
"Thy Kingdom come...' The enemy of our souls is trying desperately to create his anti-kingdom. But we say, over and over, "Thy Kingdom come." We choose God's Kingdom, and deny the enemy any room in our lives.

"Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." The enemy believes he can lure us away from God's will. He tries to do this with clever plots and temptations. But over and over, we beg God to help us to choose His will in everything. This is spiritual warfare.

Just these few phrases of the Our Father are enough to blow the enemy out of the water. They align us with the truth, and deny the enemy any ground in our lives.

The remainder of the Our Father is exactly how we can live each day in the will of God, so simply designed to keep us in the Father's will.

"Give us this day our daily bread." If we are content with today, the temptations of the enemy will have no effect on us.

"And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." When we live forgiveness, we close the opening to our soul through which the enemy's lies can enter. Forgiveness is a powerful protection from evil.
"And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil." These words unmask our enemy, for he would lead us into temptation and bring evil upon us. But we ask God to keep us out of the enemy's reach.

Then we pray the "Hail Mary" and this is the great prayer for us in the battle. Why? Because it is given to Mary to crush the head of satan, and he knows it. This prayer places us directly in her heart where we are safe from the enemy's lies and spells and hexes and curses. Our Lady is the Ark that protects us from all evil. Saying the Hail Mary over and over protects us from the deception and darkness. She is like Galadriel's vial in "The Lord of the Rings", which burns with brilliant light in the darkness.

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee." We acknowledge Our Lady as the bearer of the Lord, and we place ourselves with her, which is a place out of danger!

"Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus." Blessed! Mary is blessed! And she shared her blessedness with us, in her Son, Jesus. We enter into the blessedness of God through Mary.

"Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death." This petition is like a deliverance prayer. We ask Mary to pray for us, to intercede to the Father for our salvation, now and at the hour of our death. The enemy can do nothing when we are in the hands of Mary.

Finally, the Glory Be is the exclamation point - we give glory to our God - Three Persons! Again, a protection and a sign to the enemy that we belong to God.

I am not able to do justice to this idea, but I do believe that the Rosary is a spiritual warfare prayer that cannot be beaten. With the Rosary, we beat back the enemy's lies, darkness and evil castings. We keep the light of Christ burning in our hearts and spread it to others.

Our Lady told us:

August 8, 1985 "Dear children! Today I call you especially now to advance against satan by means of prayer. Satan wants to work still more now that you know he is at work. Dear children, put on the armor for battle and with the Rosary in your hand defeat him! Thank you for having responded to my call."

And she also said this:
February 25, 1988 "Dear children! Today again I am calling you to prayer to complete surrender to God. You know that I love you and am coming here out of love so I could show you the path to peace and salvation for your souls. I want you to obey me and not permit satan to seduce you. Dear children, satan is very strong and, therefore, I ask you to dedicate your prayers to me so that those who are under his influence can be saved. Give witness by your life. Sacrifice your lives for the salvation of the world. I am with you, and I am grateful to you, but in heaven you shall receive the Father's reward which He has promised to you. Therefore, dear children, do not be afraid. If you pray, satan cannot injure you even a little bit because you are God's children and He is watching over you. Pray and let the rosary always be in your hand as a sign to satan that you belong to me. Thank you for having responded to my call."
We have a warrior Mother, and she has given us the weapon with which we can defeat our enemy. It is the Rosary. It is spiritual warfare. Pray each word of your Rosary with the heart, and watch as God delivers us, our families, our countries and our Church from satan. The Lord will be victorious!!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

September 2, 2018 Message from Our Lady, Queen of Peace

Mirjana Soldo greets Our Lady, September 2, 2018
(c) Anthony Zubac 2018

September 2, 2018

Dear Family of Mary,

Here is Our Lady's message of September 2, 2018, through Mirjana:

Thank you.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: August 31, 2018 Reflection - Penance! Part 2

(c)Anthony Zubac/ Mary TV

August 31, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call." August 25, 2018

Here is part 2 of Fr. Peter Dugandzic' Homily at English Mass, August 29, 2018. Fr. Peter is on fire with the desire to fight for Jesus and Mary. Let that fire ignite your heart as well!

Fr. Peter Dugandzic- English Mass Homily, August 29, 2018, Medjugorje, Part 2:

We can do something about the war that is going on. You and I can do something about it by ourselves making a commitment to Our Lady's messages. Making a commitment to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To say, I am enlisted in Your army, and I am going to prepare for the battle each and every day by getting on my knees and praying. By going before the Blessed Sacrament and praying. By giving up a little bit of food once in a while and feeling hungry. By taking on some act, and I'm not talking about some of those medieval things we have heard about, but taking on something that is hard to do.
The pleasures of this world have overwhelmed us. The pleasures of this world have overwhelmed priests, bishops and even Cardinals, we've heard. The pleasures of this world confuse us. Because if you're look at any one of the deadly sins, any one of them carefully enough, I always say, it is a disease of pleasure turned inward. When it only becomes about me, my satisfactions and my good feeling. And good feelings don't cut it.
And here's why. The most beautiful image we have is that of childbirth. Now women, I will openly admit, I have never given birth to a child. I don't know what it is like. But from what I have been told, it's not fun. In fact, it's very painful. And in childbirth many times, the woman has excruciating pain and suffering. And then when that baby is laid upon her bosom, it's all gone. That's the image that Our Lady offers to you and to me. That's the image that we see in the book of Revelation - the Lady giving birth, giving birth to all of us. But we have to go through that with her. We have to experience that with her. And through that suffering, through these things that we take on, the mortifications that we do, we change ourselves for Christ. We change this world for Christ.
We are at war. Hear those words again and again. And don't think that you are outside of it. If you come to Medjugorje I guarantee the devil is going to come after you. Because he has come after me, and I am sure he has come after my brother priests...well not Fr. Leon...J...But he comes after us and he's going to come after you too. Be prepared by not having grand statements ready, just prepare yourself by how you pray and how you fast and how you devote yourself to the life of faith. So that when it comes, like John the Baptist, you can say, go ahead and take my head, go ahead and kill me but, guess what, I will not betray my Lord.
Thirty-two years ago when I came here to Medjugorje all I could think about were my own personal pleasures, my own creature comforts. Coming from America in the 1980's, this place was backwards, this place was very uncomfortable. You couldn't sit in the church at any given time and be comfortable, it was just too hot. And yet we all did. There were not side doors to let air in here. There was no air-conditioning. We all did. And that is, I believe, a very small part of the story of what set me on a different course, recognizing that it wasn't always about me. It wasn't always about what I wanted. It wasn't about me always getting what I want, when I want it, and being comfortable. Instead the Lord came to me in my comfort and made me uncomfortable. And when He did, He changed the course of my life.
Make no mistake, we are at war. But we can engage in the battle. We can accept the sufferings that come. You know, it is interesting. One of the debates that we have in the Church all of the time is how people dress. Let me tell you as a priest, there are some things I have seen in the Communion line that my eyes should never see. And yet when I say to somebody, be modestly dressed, don't wear shorts and sleeveless things to church, they say, "Aaaah, it's so hot Father." And I say, "Well hell is a lot hotter, trust me." Prepare now and get yourself ready now, to suffer a little bit. To be uncomfortable a little bit.
And offering it up, that is what Our Lady will tell you. Offering it up is what changes things. It's what helps stop wars. It is what unites families once again in harmony and love. It is what brings husbands and wives back together again. So long as we remain selfish and mired in selfish pleasures, Our Lady's message will fall on deaf ears. But if we can just let go for a moment, Christ can change the course of a life.

He changed the course of my life. And I ask you now.... you know what is going on in the Church. You know the smoke of satan has entered the Church. Paul the VI was prophetic when he said that in 1972. We must purge the Church of this error. And return once again to proclaiming the truth, by how we live our lives, you and I have to live our lives in consecration to Our Lady and Our Lord, and make the sacrifices He asks. Make the penances we need. Do the mortifications that will change the course of history.

My dear brothers and sisters, engage the battle. Don't sit on the sidelines any longer. When I first came here in the 80's the sense of urgency was great. Everybody was saying, it's the end times, it's going to happen, be ready, be ready. And the urgency grew and grew, and that urgency stirred me up and I went off and I changed my life for Christ. And guess what, it has now been 32 years, and people say, oh we have got time. We don't. Do it now. Do it now. Do it for Our Lady. Do it for Our Lord. But do it. Prepare and enter the battle. And you will not be disappointed. You will not be left alone.

I stumble and fall all the time as a priest. But I stand back up and I get back in the fight. I get back in the fight because Our Lady does not abandon me. Jesus does not abandon me. He will not abandon you. Go out into the battle. Be strong. Be prepared. Be the missionaries of Our Lord. Be the soldiers for Christ. God bless you.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: August 30, 2018 Reflection - Penance!

(c)Anthony Zubac/ Mary TV

August 30, 2018

Dear Family of Mary!

August 25, 2018
"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call."

Yesterday, Fr. Peter Dugandzic gave a wonderful homily at the English Mass in Medjugorje. I have transcribed it for you. Here is the first half, the second half will be tomorrow. Fr. Peter gave us some very good guidance on how the Lord wants to lead us in these very difficult days. His advice is straight from Jesus and Mary. Here is part 1:

My name is Fr. Peter Dugandzic, and as the sound of that name suggests, I am of Croatian descent. It was 32 years ago this very week that I first came here. I actually beat Fr. Leon! Thirty-two years ago this week, the course of my life changed. And I want you to just keep that in mind as I offer this reflection this morning, for there are a few things that I would like to say that I think are intimately linked to what Our Lady has tried to accomplish all these years.

What would be the one thing that would probably throw you into the greatest panic if you saw the leader of your country, whether it would be a president or a prime minister, come on television and say the words, "We are at war!" You would fear for the young men, you would fear for the young women, you would fear for your own lives, not knowing what it would bring for the future. To hear a leader make that statement is very frightening. Very scary if you ask me.

This is one of those things that from time to time we have to reflect upon because the world is always in a precarious position. And to hear those words, knowing what is going on in the world, would be utterly disastrous. Especially after what we saw last century. We saw horrific things happen. When you reflect upon all the deaths from the First World War, from the Second World War, and you reflect on the deaths that happened from the war in this country or the war that happened in Africa, when you reflect on the pain and the agony that came with it, it's frightening. It's horrific. And it should bother us.

But I say those words to you today as a leader. My dear brothers and sisters, we are at war! We are enlisted in the army of Christ. And we are at war.

Make no mistake about it. This war has raged from Adam and Eve until now. We are at war. And the powers of this world will constantly rage against Christ, constantly rage against our leader. I was reflecting the other day at how things have changed, certainly, from the last century, things have changed dramatically within our Church.

One of the things that have changed I think for the worst is the way we do Confirmation. I don't know if any of you have been to a Confirmation. Every year when they do Confirmation in our parish, the Bishop comes, and every year I listen to the Bishop's homily, and every year I say, "That is a Sacrament that is looking for a definition." Because he doesn't know what to say Confirmation is.

"To be made firm!" In the old rite, the young person would get a slap in the face. The good old days when we could do that. Now forget about it. They would get a little smack in the face with the Bishop indicating to them that "now you are in the army of Christ, and you should expect to be persecuted." You should expect to engage in the battle. And when you engage in that battle, they will rage against you. Sometimes to the point of a physical attack.

I love celebrating this feast of St. John the Baptist. Because this is a reminder to you and to me of just how the devil works. We are at war against the devil. And there was John the Baptist, this seemingly innocent human being who only spoke the truth. Who only stood in the midst of the people and said to them, "This is the will of God." And for it he lost his head.

It can be disturbing sometimes when people speak the truth to us. It can be disturbing to hear the truth because the truth, as we hear from St. Augustine, is a beauty but it is also a burden. The truth is a huge burden. So when we are enmeshed in the truth, and when we speak the truth (now I am not talking about facts alone but truth) the world will rebel. And they all rebelled against John the Baptist.

Now think about it for a second. Did John the Baptist have his military training in the army of Christ? He did. He was out in the desert. There is a lot of evidence that he was part of the Essene community. Living out in the wilderness for years. Jesus went out in the wilderness for years. That prepares us for the battle. That prepares you and prepares me for the battle.
To willingly take on penance, as Father said yesterday. To willingly engage in the word that most of us have forgotten. Mortification. To mortify. To put our passions to death. Every sin I have ever committed in my life was because of inherent passion. And if I don't put those passions to death, the world will win. The world will win.

Instead, we have to mortify those passions, doing acts of penance. And it is different for every person. While Our Lady has said again and again, whether it be at Fatima, at Kibeho, here in Medjugorje, what is one of the things she has brought up again and again? Fasting. Penance.

In the apparitions in Fatima, the word penance was repeated three times by the angel. Penance. Penance. Penance. For those of us who engage in the battle the way Sr. Lucia did, the way Jacinta and Francisco did, the way all of the holy people throughout all of history did, was through penance and mortification. Offering ourselves as Christ offered himself for the salvation of souls. How many stories I have heard in my years of someone offering themselves for someone else who was lost. How someone like St. Monica did for St. Augustine.

How ironic it is that we today don't like to suffer. I talk to a lot of people and people really don't like to suffer. And that is ok, you aren't supposed to like to suffer, but there are certain sufferings that are redemptive. There are certain things that we do in a spirit of fasting that can stop wars, Our Lady told us. We can do something about the war that is going on. You and I can do something about it. (to be continued)
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Mary TV: August 29, 2018 Reflection - Permit God to lead you...

(c)Marytv

August 29, 2018
The Passion of St. John the Baptist

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2018)

"Permit God to lead you on the way of conversion..."

As I pray about these words from Our Lady, an image comes to mind. What I see is a small child standing on a path, and this child wants to go down the path very much. The child has chosen the path, and is stubbornly trying to walk down it. But next to the child is the child's father, and he is trying very much to grasp the child's hand and lead him in a different direction. Of course, we realize the father knows the direction this child should go. But the child is stubborn. So the father allows the child to go down the path a little way further. Then he tries again to grasp his child's hand and turn him around. This goes on until the child finally tires and lets his father carry him home.

Our Lady tells us, "Little children...permit God to lead you on the way of conversion." She sees each of us like that child, strong willed, unwise, distracted by the world, selfish and self-centered. She knows that we are willful, and mistaken many times. We don't know the way.

But the Father will not force us to turn around. He is a patient father. And so He shadows us and gently tries to convince us to turn around until finally we get ourselves into such a mess that we give up, in in our tired state, let Him take us home.

Conversion is that turning towards the way home. It is letting God lead us in our lives, and trusting Him to know what is best. Truly, our Father is with us at each step, ready to show us the way. But we must give Him permission, or He will let us stubbornly go down the wrong path a little further, continually trying to help us out.

Of course, talking less and praying more are the key to discovering Our Father by our side, offering His help.

I think of Psalm 23 in this regard. The Father is our Shepherd. If we surrender to Him, and permit Him to lead us, all will be well.

Ps.23
[A Psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want;
he makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil;
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff,
they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for ever.

May we permit God to lead us on the way of conversion today and every day.

Pray more...

Let's pray together today, the Litany of the Precious Blood, as an act of reparation and petition for our Church in this difficult moment.

Litany of the Precious Blood

Lord, have mercy - Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy - Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy - Lord, have mercy
God our Father in heaven - have mercy on us
God the Son, Redeemer of the world
God the Holy Spirit
Holy Trinity, one God
Blood of Christ, only Son of the Father - be our salvation
Blood of Christ, incarnate Word - be our salvation
Blood of Christ, of the new and eternal covenant - be our salvation
Blood of Christ, that spilled to the ground
Blood of Christ, that flowed at the scourging
Blood of Christ, dripping from the thorns
Blood of Christ, shed on the cross
Blood of Christ, the price of our redemption
Blood of Christ, our only claim to pardon
Blood of Christ, our blessing cup
Blood of Christ, in which we are washed
Blood of Christ, torrent of mercy
Blood of Christ, that overcomes evil
Blood of Christ, strength of the martyrs
Blood of Christ, endurance of the saints
Blood of Christ, that makes the barren fruitful
Blood of Christ, protection of the threatened
Blood of Christ, comfort of the weary
Blood of Christ, solace of the mourner
Blood of Christ, hope of the repentant
Blood of Christ, consolation of the dying
Blood of Christ, our peace and refreshment
Blood of Christ, our pledge of life
Blood of Christ, by which we pass to glory
Blood of Christ, most worthy of honor - be our salvation
V. Lord, you redeemed us by your blood.
R. You have made us a kingdom to serve our God.
Father, by the blood of your Son
you have set us free and saved us from death.
Continue your work of love within us,
that by constantly celebrating the mystery of our salvation
we may reach the eternal life it promises.
We ask through Christ our Lord.

Mary TV: August 27, 2018 Reflection - Pray more, speak less!

(c) Anthony Zubac\Marytv 2018

August 27, 2018
St. Monica

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! This is a time of grace. Little children, pray more, speak less and permit God to lead you on the way of conversion. I am with you and love you with my motherly love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (August 25, 2018)
Our Lady has often cautioned us to speak less and pray more. But in this moment, when our Church is in convulsions, we need to do as she says, because through our silence, we will grow in strength and courage, and our interior life will explode with inspiration and spiritual power. In our silence we will perceive the road God is leading us on. We will follow Him much more effectively.
Pray more, speak less...
St. Faustina spoke about interior silence in this way. She can help us respond to Our Lady's message:
Silence is a sword in the spiritual struggle. A talkative soul will never attain sanctity. The sword of silence will cut off everything that would like to cling to the soul. We are sensitive to words and quickly want to answer back, without taking any regard as to whether it is God's will that we should speak. A silent soul is strong; no adversities will harm it if it perseveres in silence. The silent soul is capable of attaining the closest union with God. It lives almost always under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. God works in a silent soul without hindrance. (Diary, 477)
In the sufferings of soul or body, I try to keep silence, for then my spirit gains the strength that flows from the Passion of Jesus. I have ever before my eyes His sorrowful Face, abused and disfigured, His divine Heart pierced by our sins and especially by the ingratitude of chosen souls. (Diary, 487)

November 29, [1936]. The Mother of God has taught me how to prepare for the Feast of Christmas. I saw Her today, without the Infant Jesus. She said to me: My daughter, strive after silence and humility, so that Jesus, who dwells in your heart continuously, may be able to rest. Adore Him in your heart; do not go out from your inmost being. My daughter, I shall obtain for you the grace of an interior life which will be such that, without ever leaving that interior life, you will be able to carry out all your external duties with even greater care. Dwell with Him continuously in your own heart. He will be your strength. Communicate with creatures only in so far as is necessary and is required by your duties. You are a dwelling place pleasing to the living God, in you He dwells continuously with love and delight. And the living presence of God, which you experience in a more vivid and distinct way, will confirm you, my daughter, in the things I have told you. Try to act in this way until Christmas Day, and then He himself will make known to you in what way you will be communing and uniting yourself with Him.
(Diary, 785)
Silence is so powerful a language that it reaches the throne of the living God. Silence is His language, though secret, yet living and powerful. (888)
Pray more and speak less!

Mary TV: August 24, 2018 Ivan's encounter with Our Lady

(c) Mateo Ivankovic 2017
August 24, 2018
Dear Family of Mary!

Tonight (August 24, 2018) Ivan met with his prayer group at the Blue Cross. Our Lady came to him during that prayer. After the encounter with Our Lady, Ivan shared his experience. Here are Ivan's remarks:

Now I am going to describe to you what is most important from tonight's meeting:
Tonight also Our Lady has come to us, very joyful. And she greeted us with her motherly greeting, "Praised be Jesus, My dear children!"
Then she prayed here over all of us for an extended period of time. And especially she prayed here over the sick who are present here. And then in a special way tonight she prayed for the families - for holiness in the family - for the youth.
Then she blessed all of us with her motherly blessing. She blessed everything that you brought to be blessed. Then I recommended all of you, all your needs, your intentions, your families, and in a special way I recommended all of you here who are sick.
Then Our Lady continued to pray over all of us and she left in that prayer and the illuminated sign of the Cross with the words, "Go in peace, my dear children."
I would like to emphasize one more time that tonight Our Lady prayed especially for families, for holiness in families. Thank you.

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
