[MaryVitamin] turning to Our Lady

Mary Vitamin for May 27th

Topic: Turning to Our Lady fervently and constantly

Quote:
St. Bonaventure
"She seeks for those who approach her devoutly and with reverence, for such she loves, nourishes and adopts as her own."
St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary, (Tan Books), 131.

Meditation
:
St. Claude de la Colombiere, S.J., the spiritual director to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque, explains the many ways in which we can be tempted away from God and what is the best method for staying close to God.

It is strange how many enemies we have to encounter the moment we take the resolution of becoming a saint. Everything it seems is unloosed against us; the demon with his temptations, nature by the
resistance which she sets up against our good desires; the praises of  the good; the scoffing of the wicked, the feast of the Apostle, entreaties of the tepid. If God visits you, there is vanity to fear.  If He withdraws, timidity and despair may follow close upon the greatest fervor. Our
friends are a source of temptation because of  the desire we habitually have to please them; mere acquaintances, by  our fear of displeasing them. Indiscretion is to be feared if we are moderate, and self-love always. What, then, is to be done?

God  must do all. All the better for us. We must not fear that He will fail in
anything. All we have to do is to recognize our impotence,  and to be fervent and constant in asking for help through the  intercession of Mary, to whom He refuses nothing.

Resolution:
"Remember O most gracious advocate, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your assistance, or sought your intercession was left unaided."

St. Claude says that we can only be fervent and constant in asking for Mary's help through thegrace of God. Today, I will ask for this grace in the Memorare.

Marian Vow:
Marian Seraphic Pathways
Care should be taken not to deprive oneself of or neglect those aids which the knowledge and experience of the saints present as useful and even indispensable for a rapid journey to the heights of seraphic perfection. It is a genuine grace of the Immaculate to find those aids, and it is necessary to pray that they be conceded to all and esteemed by all without hesitation or reservations. At issue here, in fact, is our sanctification, on which depends the salvation of many.
Directory, #70

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.

Messages of St. Louis de Montfort on Marian Consecration: Day Twenty One

Mrs. Janie Garza is a visionary located in Austin, Texas. For over twenty years, she has received messages and visions from Our Lady under the title, “Mother of Compassion and Love”, with special emphasis on the restoration of family life through the model of the Holy Family, as well as messages from St. Joseph, St. Philomena, the Three Archangels, and several other saints. She has also received numerous messages and suffered extensively as a victim soul for the proclamation of the Dogma of Mary, Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix of all graces and Advocate. Mrs. Garza has received permission from her local bishop to spread her messages and relay her experiences, not only locally, but also internationally, as communicated to her spiritual director, Fr. Henry Bordeaux, ocd.

From July 13, 1999 to August 15, 1999, Mrs. Garza received the following set of 33 messages from St. Louis Marie de Montfort regarding the power and efficacy of Marian consecration. On the eve of his feast permission has been granted to publicly promulgate these messages for the first time.

The Marian consecration preparation can begin on the feast of St. Louis de Montfort, today April 28th. May the distribution of these messages lead to a greater understanding and participation of individuals consecrating ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the crowning of Marian devotion, which always leads to a more committed and joy-filled living of our baptismal promises to Jesus Christ. –Ed.

DAY 21    August 2, 1999

Little daughter of Mary, thou continues to grow like a heavenly flower in the garden of pure love, which is the Immaculate Heart of thy heavenly Mother. How sweet and tender is this love which she is pouring into thy heart! Thy heavenly Mother continues to draw thee closer to her Son as thou allows thyself to be loved by her. She is producing in thy heart many wonderful effects to assist thee to know thyself more. She is showing thee all the imperfections in thy heart and soul, the darkness that thou must abandon in order to truly be her true devotee, her very own. She is pouring out her profound humility as she communicates to thee everything which thou must abandon in order to receive all that she wishes to give to thee. Through the light of her beloved Spouse the Holy Ghost, she is lighting thy way to perfection, a perfection which is most pleasing to her Son. She is pouring her soul into thy soul. She is teaching thee to love her Son with her love. Her spirit is producing in thee such love for God that thou cannot do anything else except to repeat the words of thy heavenly Mother: “My soul doth magnify my Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Ah, how sweet is the ringing of these words in thy soul! Thy heavenly Mother is truly living in thy heart. Thou are becoming a copy of thy heavenly Mother, for this is her desire: that all her children become copies of her very self. In this way all her children will love and glorify her Son with the love and the spirit of Mary, the heavenly Queen and Treasurer of God. As thou embraces thy heavenly Queen and allows thyself to be absorbed by her love, she is helping thee to become a copy of her Son. Yes, little daughter of Mary, as thou becomes the property of Mary, thou becomes the property of her Son as well! Those souls that give themselves to Mary, give themselves to Jesus. The mother and the Son are inseparable. Amen. Amen.

Our Lady of Beauraing in Belgium

26/05/2010 (5:42)

November 1932: it is the period between the two world wars; in several European countries totalitarianism has imposed itself, and the Belgian people, as in other places, are strongly affected by the economic crisis. It is within this context that Mary appeared in Beauraing, Belgium, inviting people to pray and to rediscover God's tenderness.

Our Lady, later to be known as "The Virgin of the Golden Heart," appeared 33 times between November 20th, 1932 and January 3rd, 1933, to five children: Fernande, Gilberte and Albert Voisin, and to Andrée and Gilberte Degeimbre.

The children were together in front of the school that Gilberte attended when Our Lady first appeared to them on the railway bridge across from the school. She continued appearing to them for some time, near the entry to the school's garden, beneath the branches of a hawthorn tree. This would be the site of all of the following apparitions, where Our Lady addressed the children, asking them to be good and to pray.

The "beautiful Lady" -- as the children described her -- was dressed in a long white gown, with a glint of blue. On her head, she wore a long white veil that fell down upon her shoulders; beams of light above her head formed a crown-like shape.

Our Lady introduced herself to the children as the "Immaculate Virgin". She requested that a chapel be built and for pilgrimages to be organized to come there. Starting on December 29th, 1932, the children saw that, between her open arms, her heart was lit up, as if it was made of gold. It is from this event that the name "Our Lady of the Golden Heart" comes; she who invited humanity to discover God's tenderness in the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation. The Blessed Virgin, who numerous times pleaded that the children pray, told them during her last apparition: "I will convert sinners." Thus, the name with which she is venerated in this apparition expresses the confidence that Our Lady cares for all her children.

On the 30th: "Pray, pray a lot."
On January 1st: "Pray always."
On the 3rd, Mary entrusts a secret to the three youngest children. She promised: "I will convert sinners," and said she was "the Mother of God, the Queen of Heaven." She requested: "Do you love my Son? Do you love me? Then sacrifice yourselves for me. Farewell."

On February 2nd, 1943, Bishop André-Marie Charue of Namur authorized public devotion to Our Lady of Beauraing, and six years later, in 1949, the Church recognized the supernatural character of the apparitions.

Prayer:

Our Lady of Beauraing, Immaculate Virgin, bring to Jesus, your Son, all the intentions that we entrust to you today. Mother of the Golden Heart, reflection of the Father's tenderness, look upon the men and women of our time with love and fill them with the joy of your presence. You, who promised to convert sinners, help us discover the infinite mercy of our God. Awaken within us the grace of conversion so that our lives may be a reflection of that mercy. Make every moment of our existence "a yes" to the question you ask today: "Do you love my Son? Do you love me?" Then the kingdom of Jesus will come to the world. Amen.

The Love of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary: "We Are Truly Here" by Rita Ring

August 6, 1994

7:15 a.m.

Title:  We Are Truly Here

R. How many times this day, Lord, will I experience fear?

When, the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles, they were fearless in the upper room - they were no longer afraid. God is God. He is Mighty. He is forever inside of us.

He surrounds us. I am one in Him, then why be afraid?

Think of Jesus in the agony in the garden. He saw every detail of His brutal suffering, yet in ardent love for us and doing the Father's will, He gave Himself.

Oh, Lord, what a lesson, what lessons! Could I ever exhaust all the lessons You have so sweetly taught?

To Your own death on the cross You were obedient to the Will of the Father. How do I try to alter what I think the Father's will is for me to fit my needs? One act of doing Your will pleases You far more than days of mortification, yet my precious Father, doing Your will is what gives me peace and keeps me happiest. You showed us the way with Your whole life how to conform to the Father's will - and this compliance is the way for my own best interest, yet I go to some other road of my own making and try it out!

Before the tabernacle

Jesus:  There is but one way, My sweet, vulnerable child, it is the way of the Father. I come to give you life and give it to you more abundantly. The Spirit leads you to this relationship with God, to know His plan, His will for you. It is this simple, My child. I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life, I am here this very day.

Do you feel My presence and My Father's and the Holy Spirit? Do you feel your most beloved Mother? Do you see all the angels adoring Me before the tabernacle? Oh, sweet one, you come to this place and Satan said you were all alone, yet you knew I and My Mother were here with you but where you were blind, you now see! You see before you the gates of heaven. Before Me in the tabernacle are choirs of angels that adore Me. My saints surround Me. You are in the midst of a heavenly court. I am here this very second, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, no less present than on Calvary, or when I walked the earth. Do you see why I wanted you with Me? Strip yourself of your security, be in an old church with weak locks and Me alone and find out you are in the presence of a heavenly court!

From fear to fulfillment. The human condition is fearful. The spiritual condition is to see with the eyes of God. Oh, child, how do I remove your own, self-imposed, boundaries from your eyes? Open up your minds, your heart, your eyes, your ears, to the real world. You do not see with your eyes, you see God in your heart. Where you were blind, you now see.

I am Jesus Christ. I am in your midst this very day. I am the Son of God and child, look at your silly fear! Where on this earth could you be more safe than with God Himself, truly present in My, Divinity and Humanity, totally present before you here in the tabernacle? Do you see how you are so blinded by your eyes? Pray to the Spirit to see as only He can show you. Open your eyes to the ways of God.

No matter what goes before you, I, Jesus, God, am here with you in My Divinity and Humanity. Do you feel silly to have ever feared? Oh, sweet one, how I love you - I would die for you this very day. I would die for you alone. Do you fear? I am God and I gave My life, My Blood, My Body, for love of you.

Focus on Me, sweet one and you will have the light of life. All things here are passing and what awaits is the kingdom of the Lord, your true home.

This is My gift to you, My beloved. Read this note over and over. My presence is here. Do you feel Me the same as when I walked the earth. Focus on Me and never be afraid.

I, Jesus, love you so much. I am God!

R.  Do I wonder how He had the courage? He had to suffer so. His Father loved Him. My Father loves me. Why am I afraid to focus on the love of my beloved Father? He created me. He loves His creation. He gave His only Son for me. I have this love poured out to me from my loving Father.

He is God. He lives inside of me. He is God. Where Jesus is, so is my beautiful Father.

This is God's world. I am full of fear. (This church was filled with saints and angels and God!) I have such limited vision. See with the eyes of God. Pray to the Spirit. Where I was blind, I now see.

You don't cause someone else's lack of peace, you cause your own lack of peace.

Jesus:  I give you everything you need. If you love Me, you will obey the Father's will for you. Accept what I am giving to you this day, don't throw it back in My face.

SAINT OF THE DAY: PHILIP NERI [VIDEO]

O Louisiana, O America: we've been sent Warnings & soon chastisements: http://ping.fm/5lhch by Michael Brown

Police investigating desecration at Catholic school in Maywood as likely hate crime: Desecration of Catholic Churches are Increasing!

“Vandalism of a heinous nature”

Vandals broke into and ransacked St. Rose of Lima parish school in Maywood, a small city in Los Angeles County, scrawling “666” on walls and driving a knife into the face of a painting of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Maywood-Cudahy Police Department reports.

“On Monday, May 24, 2010, Maywood Officers responded to the Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church School (4430 W. 60th Street) on a vandalism call at that location,” police said in a statement. “Upon arrival, officers saw that a suspect(s) had broken into the kitchen area and caused extensive vandalism damage.”

Police gave no estimate of damages, but did provide additional details of the extent and nature of the vandalism. “Further investigation revealed that some of the vandalism was of a heinous nature, and in fact, consistent with a ‘hate crime,’" said the police statement.

“The suspect(s) defecated in the auditorium (adjacent to the kitchen area) and wrote ‘666’ on areas of the kitchen, and a cross was displayed in a sacrilegious manner,” police said.

Photos posted on the department’s website showed ransacked cabinet drawers strewn across the floor along with their contents, and what appeared to be food splattered against the back of a stove area, where a cross had been placed upside down atop the stove.

“The Maywood-Cudahy Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in solving this investigation,” said the police statement. “If you have any information, please call the Maywood-Cudahy Police Department Detective Bureau at (323) 562-5005. The handling investigator is Detective Fierro.”

The incident in Maywood is the latest in a series of attacks against Catholic churches in California over the last few years. Just days before Christmas 2009, vandals knocked over and smashed into pieces a 60-year-old statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary outside Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Woodland – the third time since 2007 the church had been the target of similar crimes.

In April 2009, just hours before Easter services were to commence, a vandal or vandals decapitated a statue of the Blessed Virgin outside Santa Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, the parish where Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, are members. ?

In early January last year, vandals spray-painted swastikas and the message “Niederauer, Ratzinger – where is the love” on the front walls of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in San Francisco.

In late October of 2008, a ciborium containing consecrated hosts was removed from a locked tabernacle and stolen during a burglary at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Watsonville. The thieves also stole a safe that had been bolted to the floor containing $44,400 in cash and checks.

[MaryVitamin] St. Philip Neri

Mary Vitamin for May 26th

Topic: St. Philip Neri, Mirth and the Strong Woman of Proverbs
Feast day of St. Philip: May 26th

Quote:
"Strength and beauty are her clothing, and she shall laugh in the latter day."

Meditation:
St. Philip Neri, known as the Apostle of Rome and the Humorous Saint, experienced an extraordinary phenomenon. Father Matthews tells us about this event in his biography of St. Philip.

He was twenty-nine years old at the time, and as the feast of Pentecost was approaching, Philip who had always had a special devotion to the Holy Spirit, was praying with extreme earnestness for his gifts and graces, when he seemed to see a globe of fire which entered his mouth and sank down into his heart. At the same time he was pervaded by a fire of love which seemed to be a positive physical heat, so that he had to throw himself on the ground and bare his breast to cool it. When he rose he was seized with a violent trembling, accompanied by an extraordinary sense of joy, and putting his hand to his heart, he felt there a swelling as big as a man's fist. After his death it was discovered that the first two of the false ribs were broken, and the broken ends thrust outwards, never having rejoined or return to the normal position during the fifty remaining years of Philip's life.
Fr. V.J. Matthews, Saint Philip Neri (Tan Books: 1984), 9.

Why does the Lord work such marvelous spectacles in the lives of some saints? Should we think this is just an impressive miracle or accidental gift with no further meaning? It is more in keeping with the greatness of the Divine Mind and Plan that extraordinary miracles point to a deeper meaning.

As we've seen with St. Clare, (previous MV) we learn more about the Incarnation and the Blessed Virgin Mary by delving into these mysteries.

Our Lady's monumental experiences with the Holy Spirit resulted in her Immaculate Conception and later the Incarnation what happened to Our Lady at Pentecost? Does the life of St. Philip Neri help us to understand?

St. Philip Neri was marked by prudential, meek and zealous seeking of souls. He exhibited such a high degree of purity that his countenance seemed as white as alabaster and "his eyes sparkled as no painter could paint ." He is greatly known for his humor and it seems his humility knew no limits. All of these traits reflect the virtues of Our Lady. He was also known as the "Humorous Saint" and "[i]n his own lifetime his room came to be known as the School of Christian Mirth"79

Some of St. Philip's most memorable sayings are:

  • I will have no melancholy, no low spirits in my house.
  • My Son, persevere in this cheerfulness, for this is the true way to make progress in virtue.
  •

    Resolution:
Today, reflecting on the Strong Woman of the proverbs and the life of St. Philip Neri, I will practice one act of cheerfulness to grow in virtue and to imitate the joy of Our Lady.

    Marian Vow:
"It is of primary importance that the love of Christ be always animating us--'The charity of Christ urges us on' (II Cor 5:14) -to live in a perfect sharing of prayer, action, sorrow and joy."
1  I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.

The Love of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary: "My Beating Heart" by Rita Ring

    August 6, 1994

    4:00 a.m.

    Title:  My Beating Heart

Jesus:  My little sweet one, all goes according to My plan. Your work will become clearer as I help you publish My messages. Do not fume, do not fret, on eagle's wings I will accomplish this task.

It was through much of your effort things are as they are down there. You live for love of Me alone. Your peace should not be shattered. Surrender. I love you with a beating Heart. Bring yourself back to My Heart and be with Me, My sweet one.

Beating Heart.  Beating Heart.  Beating Heart.

    DAY 20    August 1, 1999

Little daughter of Mary, how sweet these days have been for thee as thou allows thyself to be formed and nourished by thy heavenly Mother! She continues to communicate to thee all that God the Son communicated to her. All the virtues and graces are coming to thee from God the Son through thy heavenly Mother. It is by her that her beloved Son distributes all that He wishes to give to His members who long to be totally united in His love. Yes, little daughter of Mary, thy heavenly Mother is the dispenser chosen by the Holy Trinity to give mankind all gifts and graces to aid in their salvation. I assure thee that thy life will never be the same since thou made a commitment to love thy heavenly Mother. She will lead thee to a true and more profound interior devotion to her, interior because this devotion will come from thy mind and thy heart. During these days thy heavenly Mother has been helping thee to a true devotion to her. Thou will not suffer from confusion or scruples of fear from thinking that thou are dishonoring her Son by honoring her as thy heavenly Mother. She will teach thee that by honoring her, thou are honoring her Son. To honor her is most pleasing to God. True devotion to thy heavenly Mother will lead thee to holiness, and this devotion to thy heavenly Mother will help thee to avoid sin. Thy heavenly Mother will help thee to imitate all her virtues: her humility, her obedience, her purity, her charity, her patience, her faith, her prayer life, her wisdom, her sweetness and her mortification. These are the heavenly virtues that thy heavenly Mother passes on to her true devotees.

As Korean tensions escalate, Catholic leaders call for prayers

    Tribulation Times

READ THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: http://www.oneyearbibleonline.com/may.asp?version=63&startmmdd=0101

    May 26, 2010

(1Ti 2:1-2) I desire therefore, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be made for all men: For kings and for all that are in high station: that we may lead a quiet and a peaceable life in all piety and chastity.

    THECATHOLICSPIRIT.COM:
As Korean tensions escalate, Catholic leaders call for prayers

Catholic leaders have called for prayers as tensions in the Korean peninsula escalate, reported the Asian church news agency UCA News.

South Korea's president raised the stakes in the standoff by slashing trade to communist North Korea in retaliation for a torpedo attack by the North that killed 46 South Korean sailors. North Korea accused the South of a smear campaign and said May 25 that it would sever all ties with the South.

"With Christian faith, we view this as another ordeal on the way toward national reconciliation and we must keep hope. We need to pray for peace and reconciliation," said Fabiano Choi Hong-jun, chairman of the Catholic Lay Apostolate Council of Korea.

He said the tensions have thrown cold water on efforts for national reconciliation.

The sinking of the South Korean warship Cheonan March 26 in the Yellow Sea was the country's worst military loss since the 1950-53 Korean War. An international team of investigators determined a torpedo from a North Korean submarine sank the ship.

Father Raphael Seo Jong-yeob described South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's decision to enact economic reprisals against the North as "regretful," observing that the bishops' Committee for the Reconciliation of the Korean People had planned much aid to North Korea, but had to cancel it. He welcomed the president's decision to exclude North Korean children from the aid embargo.

South Korea has been the North's second-largest trading partner, after China.

Father Seo said North and South Korea "must continue to talk about peace and reconciliation" and that is why "prayers are needed earnestly."

PRAYER IN A TIME OF WAITING

    All powerful and ever-living God,
Guard our churches, our homes, our schools,
our hospitals, our factories, and all the places where we gather.
Deliver us from harm and peril.
Protect our land and its peoples from enemies within and without.
Grant an early peace with victory founded upon justice.
Instill in the hearts and minds of men and women everywhere
a firm purpose to live forever in peace and good will toward all.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

MY time in Rome at the Vatican in October, 2006 was an occasion of great graces. But it was also a time of great trials.

I came as a pilgrim. It was my intention to immerse myself in prayer through the surrounding spiritual and historical edifice of the Vatican. But by the time my 45 minute cab ride from the Airport to St. Peter’s Square was over, I was exhausted. The traffic was unbelievable—the way people drove even more startling; every man for himself!

    From Rome!

    Dear Friend in Christ,

One of the wonderful gifts given to the Church by the Holy Spirit is that it is always being renewed, despite the many faults of its sinful members. No matter how horrible things may appear, and there is some pretty horrible stuff, The Blessed Trinity is always running the show and ultimately directing all things.

Please watch this edition of the FROM ROME, and pass it along to friends and family.

A Holy Alliance between Rome and Moscow Is Born

The common objective: the "new evangelization" of Europe. A delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church visits the Vatican, which publishes an anthology of the patriarch's writings. A meeting between Kirill and Benedict XVI keeps getting closer

    by Sandro Magister

ROME, May 24, 2010 – Benedict XVI will soon create a new "pontifical council" expressly dedicated to the "new evangelization." Not for mission countries where the congregation "de propaganda fide" is already at work. But for the countries of ancient Christian tradition that are today in danger of losing the faith.

Pope Joseph Ratzinger wants to link his pontificate to this initiative. And this was the main topic that he discussed one morning in the spring of 2009, at Castel Gandolfo, with four prominent cardinals he had called for consultation: Camillo Ruini, Angelo Bagnasco, Christoph Schönborn, and Angelo Scola, the last being the most resolute in promoting the institution of the new office.

Meanwhile, one great ally has already united with the pope from outside of the Catholic Church, in this enterprise of a new evangelization.

This great ally is the Russian Orthodox Church.

Messages of St. Louis de Montfort on Marian Consecration: Day Nineteen

–Ed.

    DAY 19    July 31, 1999

Little daughter of Mary, embrace thy heavenly Mother who continues to lead thee closer to her Son, Jesus. She has been nourishing thee with her pure love and providing thee with everything through thy spiritual exercises. Each day thy heavenly Mother has been leading thee to a deeper knowledge of thyself through thy prayers and acts of mortification. Each day thy heavenly Mother is teaching thee a deeper love and devotion to her Immaculate Heart. Her love is helping thee to have more confidence in God and, thus, a deeper conversion. As thou makes thy way towards the path of holiness, it is thy heavenly Mother who is leading thee closer to her Son; thou cannot do this alone. Thou can only do this by thy sweet and good Mother. As thou abandons thyself to the womb of her Immaculate Heart, she is communicating her many virtues to thee and clothing thee with her merits. Oh, what a sweet and good Mother she is to her little children, this Mother of Fair Love who stands ready to come to the aid of those who call upon her motherly intercession! She will remove all disorder, fear and anxiety from thy heart as thou gives thyself more to her. Abandon thyself with filial trust into the abyss of her motherly love and say to thy heavenly Mother: “I am thine, O holy Mother. Lead thy little daughter to thy beloved Son.”

[MaryVitamin] Our Lady, Pentecost and Obedience

    Mary Vitamin for May 24th

Topic: Our Lady, Pentecost and Obedience

    Quote:
"[A]ll who love obedience are highly pleasing to the Blessed Virgin."
St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary, (Tan Books) 495.

    Meditation:

Hence Venerable Bede, explaining Our Lord's answer to the woman spoken of in the Gospel, who exclaimed,

"Blessed is the womb that bore Thee" "Yea, rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it,"
explains that Mary was indeed blessed in becoming the Mother of God, but that she was much more so in always loving and obeying the Divine will.

St. Alphonsus di Liguori, The Glories of Mary,(Tan Books), 495.

Obedience is a hallmark of the Blessed Virgin Mary and one attribute which calls down the Holy Spirit:

The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus whom you put to death. We testify to this. So too does the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those that obey him. (Acts 5:32)

    Resolution:
To prepare to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit this Pentecost, I will look for one opportunity to practice obedience. I will please the Blessed Virgin Mary and prepare my soul for the Holy Spirit.

    Marian Vow:

    St. Maximilian Kolbe

What kind of prayer is most efficacious? The most efficacious prayer is that which flows from obedience and obligation. In other words, those rather grim and everyday sources of grace for us and for souls.  This does not signify that private prayer is of little value, for it has great value, but only in relationship to those of obligation is it of lesser value.

     Will to Love, (Marytown Press),96

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.

FEAST OF MARY HELP OF CHRISTIANS

    Today, May 24, is the
Feast of Mary Help of Christians

Mother Mary is the help of every individual Christian. When a child is frightened or hurt or in any need it runs to its mother, and mother always helps. When a child cries for help mother rushes to its assistance. That is just what Mary, Help of Christians, does for each one of us. When we are attacked by the enemies of our soul or body, she hurries to our help. Here are some enemies of our soul:
    A. One of the greatest enemies of our soul is the world. By the world we mean the spirit of the world, a spirit that entirely forgets and neglects God. The enemy is called "secularism" which means worldliness. This spirit is not one of faith; it is not one of morals. It is a spirit that condemns or ignores sacred things. It is a spirit that permits and approves immorality, bad example, contraception, abortion, etc., etc. These practices are the enemies of the individual soul and Mary is our protection against them.

    B. The second enemy of the soul is the flesh. Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, the spirit has lost control over the flesh. Even St. Paul experienced it: "I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner to the law of sin that is in my members. . . . Unhappy man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death? (Romans 7:24).

    C. The third enemy of the soul is the devil. He was driven out of heaven, because of his pride. Ever since he and his cohorts are trying to drag souls down to hell. The devil is clever. He uses every means to trap us. He makes evil suggestions. He deceives minds and assaults Christian souls. Here again Mary is our help.

As Mother of God's children, Mary has responded by helping Christians throughout the ages. She has done this by coming to the aid of individuals, families, towns, kingdoms and nations.

In 1214 she gave the Rosary to Saint Dominic as a weapon to combat the Albigesian heresy which was devastating Southern France. It is very clear to Christians and it is also the Will of God that we have and will continue to have the Help of Mary through the recitation of the Holy Rosary.
In the year 1531 Our Lady appeared in Mexico to an indian named Juan Diego. He was a humble peasant aged 51. As a result of the apparitions, over 10 million indians were converted to Catholicism, the sacrificial killings of babies stopped, and Our Lady left an image which is a reflection of herself imprinted miraculously on the tilma of Juan Diego.
Battle of Lepanto in 1571Battle of Lepanto Image via Wikipedia

In 1571 the whole of Christendom was saved by Mary Help of Christians when faithful Catholics throughout Europe prayed the Rosary. The great battle of Lepanto occurred on October 7th 1571. For this reason this date has been chosen as the feast of the Holy Rosary. In 1573 Pope Pius V instituted the feast in thanksgiving for the decisive victory of Christianity over Islamism.
Near the end of the 17th century, Emperor Leopold I of Austria took refuge in the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Pasau, when 200,000 Ottoman Turks besieged the capital city of Vienna. Pope Innocent XI united Christendom against the ominous attack of Mohammedanism. A great victory occurred thanks to Mary Help of Christians. On September 8th, Feast of Our Lady's Birthday, plans were drawn for the battle. On September 12, Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, Vienna was finally freed through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. All Europe had joined with the Emperor crying out "Mary, Help!" and praying the Holy rosary.

In 1809, Napoleon's men entered the Vatican, arrested Pius VII and brought him in chains to Grenoble, and eventually Fontainbleau. His imprisonment lasted five years. The Pope smuggled out orders from prison for the whole of Christendom to pray to Our Lady Help of Christians, and thus the whole of Europe once again became a spiritual battle ground, not of arms against ruthless arms, but of Rosaries against ruthless military might. Soon Napoleon was off the throne and the Pope freed from prison.

After proving her maternal help, throughout the centuries, Our Lady has continued to appear in hundreds of places throughout the world mainly during the 20th century, Lourdes and Fatima being the most famous apparitions. She has brought help from Heaven, and has warned her children to do prayer and penance as a formula for peace. She has stressed that her children must pray the Holy Rosary daily. Let us continue to call on Our Lady, Help of Christians, in these sorrowful times, so that her Immaculate Heart will triumph and her Divine Son Jesus, will reign in the hearts of all mankind!

    God bless us all+

The Love of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary: "Mary Appeared" by Rita Ring

    August 5, 1994

Mary appeared as I received this message from Jesus

    R.    It is no longer I who live, but He who lives in me.

Jesus:  Make yourselves likened to Me in all your ways.

Do not follow after the things of the world, focus on the Spirit as the Spirit is alive within your soul. I am the Lord, thy God and I am ever present and dwell in your hearts. Come to Me. Let My life live in you. I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life. Come and abide in Me that you might live in Me and I in you. I am Jesus, your precious Savior come to prepare you for your home in heaven.
